Ritualist, Dervish and Paragon, all three of my favorite GW1 classes
Yes to capes/cloaks.
How many MMO’s have no capes and no mounts? Only one that I know of.
Do you mean in terms of looks or in terms of armor class? Both have problems.
The former has the problem that Anet purposely wants scholars, adventurers and soldiers to be visually distinct.
I disagree, everyone already runs around in various plate armor designs from outfits, so there really is no need for class armor types anymore when it comes to appearance.
Also, I’m pretty sure the OP is only talking about visual appearance and being able to apply skin unlocks of any armor type. This should happen ASAP, as personally, I love the medium armor appearance yet find most of the light armor appearance to be hideous.

This is one of the main reasons I don’t play this game much. I like to level / do stuff while I’m queued for pvp, and it drives me nuts that I can’t do that in GW2. Since I can in so many other games, GW2 is on the bottom of my play list.
I was going to try it, but seeing as summoner could only be the little cutesy race and your summons were cartoony kittens, I decided to pass.
I have a r9 285 (which is a 2gb 380). I can play gw2 at 1440p nearly maxed out at +60fps in most places.
I did a test some time ago, the gpu was at 1040/1550, just a tad better than 380 stock.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3XSvcnLcmwIHere is a much recent video, gpu is at 1100/1570 and settings are all maxed, but disabling reflections and shadows and character model limit to low. Again 1440p:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZBSIOXtBfAkThanks for the videos.
Though I noticed that you have shadows on medium, character details on medium and you have turned off High Resolution Textures.
That is why I am trying to figuring out what takes to have EVERYTHING maxed out and turned on.
Because you also have AA turned off. Know what I mean?
So I think to just be 100% sure I will go with the 390. Its currently 370 euros here, still much more than the USA but it is what it is.

I love the idea of a build for Mesmer that focuses on Phantasms and actually uses them for something other than shatter fuel. Personally, I despise the whole shatter mechanic and the fact that everything revolves around it.
I’ve gone through three Nagas and two G600’s in the last five or six years, buttons always end up going out on them.
Also, an Nvidia 970 is a possibility, but that whole 3.5GB scandal left me with sour grapes :P
Thanks for your replies!
I recently bought a new pc with a 970 and I love it, that thing is beastly.
The change to Chaos Armor is ridiculous, and needs to be put back the way it was.
I clicked that link and put in a character name, and it says I haven’t unlocked any armor, even though I have complete sets of most of the armor on that list. I dunno…I’d like the flaming dragon sword but I haven’t played GW 1 in so long I wouldn’t have any idea where to start. It says I’m two points short.
I don’t really understand how that works…I played GW 1 for years, owned all expansions, and probably played through about 90% of the game on multiple classes, including Paragon and Dervish, but the only thing I have in GW 2 at the Hall of Monuments vendor is Heritage Armor.

I don’t get why they’re nerfing engineer lol. Necro has more survivability than engis.
It’s not fair.
This – my necro is far more durable than my engineer, in every facet of the game, and much more of a threat.
maybe if youre playing against training dummies
Dunno what to tell you, I never (that’s never) die on my necro in pve and only rarely in pvp. Can’t say the same for my engineer.
Mine pulses when I’m doing something channeled, such as reviving someone. Other than that, not much else, except turning red when I go into combat.
How about instead of nerfing Engineers, you make the pistol/shield viable, and stop forcing us to rely on kits. I despise kits, and I hate using them. I do, however, like turrets, and the pistol and shield, none of which are viable.
Unfortunately your entire profession is balanced around kits and your toolbelt, in fact I’d say kits are more of what they balance around for engineer.
The class needs something to make it less kit reliant. A damage buff when no kit is slotted, perhaps? I am not a fan of kits, although I do like the toolbelt mechanic, but that works just fine with turrets and gadgets slotted.
From my understanding, the alternative to kits is a turret build, but turrets are pretty much useless right now. So with all that being said, how is a nerf to engineer even close to justifiable in it’s current state? So much of it’s mechanics just aren’t viable.

I say its unfortunate because the only weapon I like on Necro is staff, the rest of them don’t really appeal to me for appearance or animations. Greatsword looks pretty awesome (and the Reaper specialization look amazing), but I don’t like having to wait until 80 to be able to use it.
Haven’t played in a long while, thinking about coming back and picking up HoT because Reaper looks flat out amazing. But I haven’t played in so long that I’d more than likely be starting over.
Now, my question is, how soon can you start playing as a Reaper, if you made a level 1 necro and leveled it up through pve? Can you become a Reaper before level 80?
All elite specs are locked until you’re level 80.
How unfortunate.

So to start off i’m not a big fan of how the necromancer’s minions look… (I know a lot of you probably do not trying to offend) but i was thinking wouldn’t it be cool if we could have like skins we can unlock or purchase to make our minions look different? :P
I would absolutely love this. I cant stand the way the minions look.
Lack of cleave is the main reason I don’t use axe.
I’d be happy if siphons worked through death shroud.
Paragons had to use spears and shields
I miss my paragon
This just makes me want to take my turret engi into pvp more often.
My biggest wish for Greatsword is that necros don’t get yet another stupid ‘spinning top’ attack, like….well, like every single other class that melees with a greatsword.
You do realize the reason Greatswords are good for melee is their ability to hit multiple targets in melee range? That being said, there is guaranteed to be at least one 360 degree strike…to hit enemies all around you. I’m pretty sure that most proponents of Necromancer Greatsword are looking for some serious melee cleaving. It would be a huge disappointment if that was not included. As well as an evade/leap mobility move.
Plenty of ways to do a 360 degree attack without that ridiculous “spin in place” animation.
There’s a reason I still play turret Engineer, and there’s a reason my Necro has become a power well spec over my preferred minion master spec.
I’m all for better minions, but the GW1 minions were just as bad, imo. I want to see some zombies and skeletons, undead knights and such, not shapeless blobs and weird scorpion things, or floating turds. Nothing about either game’s minions really says “necromancer” to me, except that in GW1 you summoned these weird things out of corpses.

Definitely need better minion models…these things are flat out awful in my opinion.
Okay, thanks Fay That explains it pretty well.
Hey guys, quick question for you regarding dual wielding swords and summoned illusions.
Firstly, I only appear to execute any attack animations with my mainhand sword…the other one is just kind of there. I never really do anything with it. Secondly, all of my clones that I summon while dual wielding only have one sword, and they all appear to do some lunging thrust attacks, but never actually swing their swords.
Then i watched this video
and this lady (or gentleman) appears to be swinging both swords when attacking, and she is summoning illusions that are also dual wielding and they are actually attacking with both weapons as well.
Soo, I’m wondering why mine doesn’t do this. Looks like she’s using sword/sword and sword/focus throughout the video for the most part, which I also use and I have yet to see an illusion/clone/phantasm that dual wields, nor have I ever seen my Mesmer actually use his offhand sword of for anything other than a stat stick.
From my experience, especially on this forum, 99.9% of the people that throw the word entitlement around don’t know what it means.
I made a thief too for fun, and while I absolutely refused to run the faceroll backstab spec, I was still topping the boards every game with a p/d spec. Thief is ridiculously easy to kill other players with. Being a glass cannon is a non factor, the uptime on stealth is kittenin huge.
you paid 50 bucks knowing it was a gamble. you lost and now instead of being able to accept it you blame others. great logic.
a-net needs to make money. people are willing to gamble knowing full well they will probably see no return. i spent money and lost. i’m not complaining because i knew and accepted the risks before i made the purchase. take some responsibility for your own actions people, please.
Anet would have lost nothing if they gave better droprates.
On the contrary: they would have sold way more chests in the future than they ever will now.Ponder on that a bit.
They could have been generous to all the players who were so generous to buy keys en masse for the event alone… they weren’t.
If anyone gambled and lost it’s Anet.
The skins were never intended to be doled out en masse, REGARDLESS of your interpretation. Rare means RARE. Look it up. If you still don’t get it, look it up again. If everyone got a rare, it wouldn’t be rare anymore, now would it? Gee, lots of fun getting the exact same thing half the game population already has? That’s soooo unique, isn’t it?
Don’t like the event? See all the forum posts with people complaining about the horrid chances to get something aesthetic? Why, you simply MUST spend your money! They’re twisting your arm and pointing a gun to your head, right? No?
Move along, nothing to see here.
I’m guessing you’re not smart enough to understand the implication of the post you quoted, so I’ll spell it out for you:
If Anet had been more generous with the rewards, more people would spend more money on the cash shop. Since they were not generous, less money is being spent, which leads to a loss in revenue, and will also cause future events to suffer. Anet screwed themselves with this fiasco, whether you rabid fanboys want to accept that or not.
Save Yourself should have kept the previous boon duration, but only awarded boons based on the amount of conditions you actually drew onto yourself. The original version of the skill was overpowered, the nerfed version of the skill is stupidly underpowered considering the conditions you draw onto yourself will outlast the boons you get.
They can’t make the skill like that. That would make it useless in solo-content, which just doesn’t do in this game.
An idea that has been floating around the forum is that the boon duration should be 4 or 5 seconds plus an additional second for each condition you pull to you.
Well it’s a pvp skill for the most part. It’s only usable in solo content right now because it’s broken…it’s basically a free ‘gimme every boon’ at the push of a button, when it should be about condition control.
Save Yourself was poorly implemented to begin with, and the recent, resultant nerf was also poorly done. The fact that you could pop that skill and get all of those long duration boons without drawing any conditions onto yourself was ridiculous, there’s no way anyone can deny that. Nerfing it to what it does currently is also ridiculous.

Very poorly done all the way around.
Personally, I don’t like downed state because it makes winning a 2v1 virtually impossible, even when you are good enough to outplay your opponents.
There’s a dozen reasons why you’re wrong. I don’t know which to put here though, since you made a blanket statement with no justification or opinion attached.
Not really. Downed state has no place in pvp, not to mention the various downed states between classes aren’t anywhere near balanced.
@Blueroseknight – I’m not sure where imbeciles like yourself learned the word “entitlement”, but you obviously never learned what it actually means. People spent real money for nothing…and are upset about it. That’s not what entitlement means.
But for the high and mighty among you that like to belittle the criticisms of others, this will hurt you in the end, because people will be less likely to spend money at the cash shop, which means less development money. Because of this thread, I will not be spending any of the money I had planned to spend tonight on gems.
Well, this thread has served it’s purpose. I will not be spending money on keys when I get home, as originally planned.
What BishopX said. Personally, i’m done with pvp in this game until thieves and mesmers are balanced. This kitten is out of control…every match is overrun with those two classes, and its getting ridiculous.
