This recipe will upgrade your exotic backpiece to the ascended version. Both the wiki and dulfy (google it) have guides on the process. Be careful whether you want to use phil stones or crystals though as they produce a different type of infusion slot.

250 ectos to infuse a backpiece too expensive

in Crafting

Posted by: DungeonDaughter.7391

DungeonDaughter.7391

The crafting cost for complex infusions was flat out decreased in the last major patch. The crafting cost for books and quivers was effectively reduced by increasing the drop rate of t6 mats.

It would not be unreasonable for the crafting cost to infuse to be reduced now, whether it be by increasing the salvage rate of ectos or just flat out requiring fewer ectos, or preferably letting there be alternative methods to infuse.

Thank you for everyone’s feedback so far.

250 ectos to infuse a backpiece too expensive

in Crafting

DungeonDaughter.7391

250 ectos is too expensive for an item used for progression.

I understand the 250 ecto recipe to go from beta fractal capacitor(infused) to the glowy, sparkly one since it’s purely cosmetic without stat progression.

But to have to spend 250 ectos to go from prototype to infused is prohibitively expensive for an item that has a +5 ag res stat increase used to progress in the game.

It’s about 70 g for the ectos needed for this one item. And there’s no other way to upgrade it. There needs to be another route to upgrade a backpiece; even if it’s something time consuming like using 3000 relics or some number of pristine relics.

Or if there needs to be some RNG involved, then it would make sense to infuse a backpiece with shards of mist, just like the recipes used to infuse rings.

But something needs to change. The method to acquire rings has been fixed. Now it’s time to re-evaluate backpieces.

Expensive gold sinks have always been for cosmetic-only items, and it should stay that way.

difference between LFG and LFM

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: DungeonDaughter.7391

DungeonDaughter.7391

There is a similarity and a difference.

The similarity is that both people are looking for other people to play with.
The difference is that people who type LFG are lazy and want everything done for them, and people who type LFM are the ones who are actually proactive and don’t let 5 people sit around typing LFG at the same time for half an hour.

Not always. If I’m LFG, it’s because I don’t know the dungeon path in question and want to join a group with a leader that has more experience with it than I do. That’s how people learn.

Try being a bit nicer when posting? That one was pretty nasty and thoughtless. No offense.

Okay I can appreciate your line of thought. Let’s say you opened my mind a little.

But like I said, my vitriol was aimed at the people who were name-calling. So I’d like to think my post was nasty and thoughtful at the same time. And I still stand by it too. The vast majority of people who spam LFG don’t want to take initiative. You know how I know that? I know that because I get tired and lazy sometimes and want things done for me too. I spam LFG and it takes forever to find a group. But when I make the effort to form a group and get people together, it only takes a few minutes.

I’ve been on both sides. And it’s given me an accurate perspective. If you’re the exception, and you know it, then don’t take offense either, cause it wasn’t meant for you.

That doesn’t mean much. Often people are unresponsive or the group has already been formed – they just haven’t taken down the post. I have yet to find a full group using the LFG site.

You’ve had some bad luck then. I’ve found over a hundred groups in the last month solely using the LFG site. I had one problem and one problem only finding a group, and that was for fractals 39, which is to be expected.

Anyway, feel free to add me to your friends. I’ll run dungeons with anyone. And I hope your experience with the site gets better cause it’s more lively than LA chat these days.

How to get more than 20 AR for the fractals?

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

So basically your first 25 is free and if you want 30 now, you spend 250 ectos. I’d be happy with 25 and wait for amulets and accessories for an additional 30 for free. Soon enough you’ll get 55 for free — i bet in the end-of-jan patch.

okay i get it. it reminds me of aol chatrooms back in the 90s. you talk for a while, you hit it off in the main room, then you want to take it private, and next part of the conversation goes something like this: “im me” “no, you im me” “no, you im me” “no, you im me” “no, you im me” im stands for instant message by the way. that was before webcams existed. that was before you could stream a movie. it was when 640 × 480 was a really good resolution for games. and there were disks that held 1.44 Mb
but i digress

if you start a group, you’re not responsible for it. you don’t control what 5 people do.

and my vitriol was not meant for op. it was meant for the people calling others “idiots” and “numbskulls”

Wintersday is a letdown compared to Halloween

in Wintersday

Posted by: DungeonDaughter.7391

DungeonDaughter.7391

I enjoyed both. The clocktower puzzle was more challenging and fun to me, but winter’s was more accessible and better designed for big groups doing it at the same time. I like the halloween dungeon better since it was a real boss instead of a series of heart-like quests like winter’s. But again, winter’s is more accessible.

But what I like most about winter’s is that what I like isn’t what everyone likes, and there was definitely more something-for-everyone activities than halloween.

What I think when i see a commander

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Commander should be purchased with badges of honor, not gold. I would assume that Commander status is bought with gold because it was not intended to be useful only in wvw, but that’s how it turned out. Money can’t buy knowledge. Only experience can.

I would like to be commander one day, and I can afford it now. But I have a prerequisite for buying commander, and that’s to know what I’m doing in wvw first. I haven’t played enough to know decent strategies, so I’m not allowed to buy it yet.

And people really should turn off the icon in dungeons. In map pve, I don’t care.

Same 3 fractals in a row, consecutively

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: DungeonDaughter.7391

DungeonDaughter.7391

Is random really random?

I did a fractal run with a group
1. Grawl
2. Asura
3. Underwater
4. was to be Jade maw

A couple people DCed during Asura, but we completed it, and went to the next fractal just to see what it would be. Then we reset out of courtesy to the rest of our group.

With the same group immediately after reset, we did another run.
1. Grawl
2. Asura
3. Underwater
4. Jade Maw

What are the odds? Same 3 fractals, same order, and consecutively?

I’m assuming same 3 fractals is 1/336 (8*7*6), but when you add the same order, and twice consecutively, those seem like crazy odds, and not quite random.

By the way, in my last three >10 daily runs, all five members, all three times, three days in a row all got zero rings. Random?

Good question! I was actually thinking about starting a thread like this, but it just wouldn’t be negative enough for me, so I didn’t

Here are my favorites in order:

COE – Awesome locale, even sort of challenging, love the laser jumping, the dark humor is fun, good drops, best heavy armor; but a little tough to run on some PCs

AC – Hey look!, the setting is actually a dungeon! Love the atmosphere. Cheap armor with good stats. Although not a huge fan of graveling paths for their monotony.

Arah – I love how long the runs take; I’m not kidding. Love the Lupi fight. All the conditions from mobs are kind of annoying though. Light armor is amazing.

TA – I really like the atmosphere and art design of the setting, also it’s even a little tough at times. Armor is unique; light armor is really nice.

HotW – Love the crooked floor. So disorienting and unique. Good statted armor.

SE – I love story mode, but I’m not a huge fan of explore mode.

COF – I find this whole place kinda monotous, but the armor is nice enough.

CM – Not very dungeony. The enemies are a little too human for my taste.

Yeah, they did. However the Patch broke more than it fixed.

That list was pretty huge bet you can’t name more things “broken” than fixed and I’ll be impressed if you get past two.

I understand the point of the thread but to whine about it right after a patch is just wrong on so many levels. Show some decency.

Jumping is broken.
Cliffside Fractal is broken.
The fixes for broken dungeons aren’t working.

That’s 3 right there.

20 more and you sir are a winner and not a a whiner. Fixes not working doesn’t create a bug. Cliffside Fractal has been broken. So you got one.

Cool man, you win the internets. There are no problems with this patch. Nope. None at all.

/thread

Okay. Since jumping is broken, that means every jumping puzzle is broken. And the asura fractal. And all 3 paths of Coe, even though they just fixed path 1.

Elementalists and mesmers now crash the game doing certain things. Go look at the bug forum. That means that DCs from fractals will be even worse now. That means some people’s professions won’t level up as quickly as others and fractal players will be even more fragmented.

1. Jumping
2. AC 1
3. AC 2
4. Coe 1
5. Coe 2
6. Coe 3
7-48. All the jumping puzzles
49. Elementalist transform bug
50. Mesmer phantasm bug
51. More fractal DCs due to 50. and 49.
52. Cliffside fractal
53. Asura fractal

Or the CM vendor not offering major runes, or the guardian virtues not reflecting the correct cooldown time, or guardian signet of mercy not displaying the correct passive heal? Text bugs.
