@Rock, yeah… everytime i’ve seen someone say that it’s well deserved… most of the time they people that post are dumb kittens who complain about not having raiding or this or that from every other MMO in existence (like the trinity) and demand it be put into GW2 because otherwise this game is bad….

However, if they were saying something like “Dungeon Rewards are awful and should be buffed!” then i’d agree with you, because in all honesty they are fairly horribad (the loot itself, not the cash from it although i wouldn’t argue to that being buffed lol)

Why are people not using carnivorous appetite. That way no matter what pet you use they gain health back on crit. My pet reg health quickly that a can believe that a feline can tank.

Because people don’t seem to understand that if they want to be offensive they should help their pet out too instead of being LAWLZ I DO DAH DAMAGAE!

Not to mention a lot of people are used to other MMOs where the pets are essentially just meat shields and nothing more, personally i have 30 points in BM and also have masters bond which allows up to 500 additional stats to my pet truly making him a force to be reckoned with!

Master's Bond Questions

in Ranger

Durzlla.6295

Last I calc’d it was 6 for a total of 150 stats for your pet only.
You can check how many stacks you have currently by clicking your pet manually and you’ll see the affect under his healthbar.

And losing all stacks literally happens on anything lol.
It’s intended but will be hopefully changed

It would be nice, I can tell they encourage pet-swapping in combat, and it’s very viable no matter what trait tree you maxed out, so it seems unfair to make us commit to stacking 1 pets stats unless it’s intentional to keep any balance (as this is a VERY powerful trait that you only need 10 points for)

In all honesty, this trait at 10 stacks was -to- powerful, however now that it’s 8…. i feel like it’ll be strong enough to really be worth holding onto your pet, yet be weak enough to not make your pet into an OP killing machine at 5 stacks… god i remember back when my pet was still broken (IE unresponsive because i didn’t have enough badges to control him) in BWE2 and he was running around hitting for 4k (pig) or my cat was critting for 10k with 10 stacks of might and 5 masters bond…. ah…. god help the poor kittens once he got to 20 stacks….

Are spirits as bad as people say they are?

in Ranger

Posted by: Durzlla.6295

Durzlla.6295

@JonG the reason you didn’t need to invest points into your pet to follow you is because it’s your class mechanic, the reason you need to put points into your spirit to follow you is because a long time ago they used to be INCREDIBLY powerful and having them follow you was a huge advantage because you became a roaming buff bot of OPness. However that time has passed and now they’re not even worth the utility slot, yet the traits that buffed them to OPness are still there, yet don’t even buff them to being “great” they buff them to being “Ok i suppose.”

Also don’t even use the argument of i didn’t need to do X to make my pet better so therefore my spirits should be better by default because that’s like saying “I didn’t need to put points into my attunements as an elementalist to be able to use tons of skills so i don’t care about CDs, therefore my utility skills should have a shorter CD”

Are spirits as bad as people say they are?

in Ranger

Durzlla.6295

@Leknau well you have to keep in mind you’re using the only spirit that is good, which is our ulti (thank god he’s still worth bringing or i’d be flipping tables and screaming in fury), now -he- takes an effort to kill, mostly because he still has high toughness, vit AND heals himself over time which is FANTASTIC! I also agree with the pets, pets are not an issue they don’t die -that- much, however big fights like the priests of <insert god here> in Orr, or even just some of the bigger events end up with him getting destroyed by AoE i can’t get him out of…

As for the utility spirits…. those…. are well…. atm they’re just disgraceful for utility, as people said earlier if they either buffed the toughness and vitality on the spirits so they’re hard to kill, or just making it so the spirits are still really squishy but just radiate their buff constantly every second (IE 3 second buff every second, spirit dies to like 1-2 attacks so it’s kinda like a DEAL WITH ME! skill) would both make them highly useful.

Weekly dungeons: Better rewards and more variety

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: Durzlla.6295

Durzlla.6295

Oh, you mean more of what’s been done already? A weekly lock out for gear, or tokens to get gear? A “must do” chore list to get gear, or tokens to get gear. Yeah, no thanks. The dailies and monthies for achievements for doing what I want to do and nothing more is as close as I ever want my list of “chores” to come to that play style.

Dailies and monthlies are not required at all, nor are any repeats of dungeons unless you want specific looking gear.

I like the idea in regards to mixing it up. I think 600 is way too much though, and the presentation doesn’t fit.

My idea is more like a story:

You get mail from a rich man from the wealthier section of Divinity’s Reach this week. He exclaims his daughter ran away to CM and hasn’t been heard from. Find her, and you’ll be handsomely rewarded.

The daughter is then dynamically placed in one of the three explorable paths, specific to your party. That means – yes – the daughter will be in any of the three per party, and as long as the party stays together (promoting togetherness, patience, and time, yay!), you’ll eventually find her if you can do the paths. This will effectively separate those who care from those who don’t. Not only that, the daughter will have to be ‘escorted’ to the end of the dungeon – she’ll either be able to die and be ressed or just be invulnerable and say fun lines throughout her time travelling with you (she’s obviously 16 and rebellious).

This way, people who “grind” out the three dungeons really feel like it’s worth it, and gives a large incentive. It will keep the idea of dynamic alive, avoid the “The daughter is in THIS path of CM, go there!” since it’s random per party, and allow people to mix it up. Because the daughter would most likely be near the end, at the end, or hidden within a random spot, it would also exclude the idea of “I’ve checked every spot the daughter spawns at, next path!”

Again, the amount of tokens can’t be too much, but enough to be worth it. 200 maybe? That’s still generous since you’d get the 25-30 as well.

If you haven’t put this in the suggestion forums yet do so, because I would love this being in there!!

@OP idea seems good, but 600 is way to much… Maybe 300? Or something like that?

GW2 is Fun-Centric, not Reward-Centric

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Durzlla.6295

Durzlla.6295

“IMO, Anet is promoting the concept that everything you do in GW2 should be because you enjoy doing that thing, not because you’re trying to get rewards for doing that thing. "

But if you enjoy farming, grinding dungeons, dungeons in general, or any of the things they’ve nerfed recently then you are kitten out of luck.

The idea of playing for funs sake makes perfect sense, right up until the point where they started making it impossible to do things that for many players were fun!

Adapt. Trust me…there are plenty of ways to make money in this game without spending a dime in the cash shop OR exploiting. No, I will not elaborate.

Im not after money. Im just really losing all sight of doing anything interesting.
100% world completion done
4 crafting professions 400. And the others are just gold sinks using materials I dont feel like grinding out 300 more of…
Legendaries take an absurd amount of grind which is, oh hey, capped constantly so I couldnt actually work towards them if I wanted to.
Dungeons at their peak are fun the first time, decent the second, reasonable the third, and boring by the 4rth. And most dungeons are not at their peak.

WvWvW for me right now is either waiting 3 hours for a queue during the day, or playing at night like I usually do, and just stomping the enemy teams :/

And im not really a big Spvp fan.

Frankly speaking, there’s not actually anything fun for me to do right now. The only goals I could potentially have are being nerfed one by one (anti farm codes, lessened dungeon rewards, making dungeons more tedious and unfun [and no I dont mean magg])

I know one of my friends who has put the same amount of time as me in gw2 and put more time into gw1 has already given up on the game. And its looking like I might be doing that too soon. Fun for a first playthrough, but nothing much to keep me interested right now.

I find it funny that you’re complaining about the dungeon code that nerfs your rewards for doing THE SAME EXACT ROUTE and saying it makes them tedious and unfun…. You do realize you can jump back and forth between 2 or more routes and get same rewards right? Pretty simple for you people that want to farm tokens for w/e reason….

GW2 is Fun-Centric, not Reward-Centric

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Durzlla.6295

Durzlla.6295

If anyone in their right mind would consider dungeons fun in their current state I believe they have a serious grinding addiction on their hands. As for dynamic events and tasks, they are fun the first time around, but gets repetitive fast, especially with the low amount of skills. I tried rolling a second character but I’m simply no longer having fun, while my first character was a lot of fun from lv1 to lv80. I didn’t have this problem with GW1 at all, I completed that campaign over 8 times each and I’m still having fun with that. A bit of a disappointment when a lot of us are GW1 veterans.

Well firstly, i personally LOVE the dungeons in their new state, i like the challenge, it’s fun to me.

However i will agree with the skill area, in PVE at least, in PVP i have no such issues. In PvE for what ever reason I just got really bored with my ranger, despite swapping between like every weapon set in existence… I don’t know what it is… however when i go into PvP i suddenly enjoy it more which is weird… or when i log onto an alt and do the same task, maybe it’s cause my alt is an ele that has a lot of conjures so i just have significantly more variety…

Healing Power

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Durzlla.6295

Durzlla.6295

Everything start’s to indicate that investing in defensive stat’s is essentially nerfing yourself horribly.

1v1 or even in WvW in most situations, people stacking offensive stat’s will vastly come on top of those who don’t.
Simply because it’s way more effective, and the way abilities scale.

The only slightly valid option for being a support is CC.

Also dont forget the horrible lack of contribution you receive when being support during events, even if you are the only one applying boons and regen while removing conditions to 30 people, aslong if you dont do enough damage to mobs, you will end up with bronze or silver.

I’m extremely dissapointed because it turns out to be a brain dead process to build a most efficient character, unless Arenanet start’s to realize it and change’s it.
In short:

I expected GW2 to be more a game of chest, instead it’s currently a game of checkers.

Sigh, from what I have seen, the best players run at least 1 part defensive stats in PvP. That proves a balance of offense and defense > opposite ends of the spectrum.

I have no trouble at all in sPvP running 1 part defense, 2 parts offense.

I’m wondering who are those people that you claim are “the best” ?
Especially considering most people in sPvP aren’t even half-decent, so the majority of players running with the popular brain dead offence stat stack are a bad representation of the real effectiveness/potential it has.
You know .. the same people who rely solely on channeled abilities to defeat their opponent, at best have one cc and usually with dmg cd’s for the rest.
Of which the counter is simply to CC during their channel, followed by trying not to fall asleep afterwards.

The key to sPvP (aside of teamwork ofc) is defensive abilities and cc, not defensive stats with the exception in some cases like the person above pointed out, being vitality.

Yeah….. Idk about you but a total lack of defensive stats means you’re going to die….A LOT….. except on a clothie because they have a lot more active defense… so you can pull that off if you’re a total baller…

That being said, i personally stack healing power> power > vitality >toughness >precision (precision is just kinda there lol) and i’ve run into like no issues…. infact, the only reason power is above vitality and toughness is because i have a large portion of healing power transferring into power, as well as power being a secondary stat on all the stuff i use.

It amazes me how petty you people are, “oh the rewards aren’t good enough!!” my god do you not just play a game for fun?

And what about the intellectual reward?
Shouldent you also be somewhat be funded for the efforts you have put in
and the deaths you had. You spend 40 min inside a dungeon and come out with only 35 silver mby 50silver if your lucky and ~25 tokens all the while your friend was farming DE and earned 70silver in the same time and is able to buy his orange’s from the TP instead
so basicly you are falling behind becuz you enjoy to do dungeons where is the logic in that? The reward should be equal for both.

Well dungeon gear is meant to be cosmetic rewards, IE that’s showing off that you were a total hardkitten and got that gear instead of buying the craftable gear everyone and their grandma will have. Personally, i don’t use money very often, only thing it gets used for are waypoints and repairs…

As for the intellectual reward you learn how to do the content, like in D Souls, not to mention you’ll learn lore on the area that your friends who are grinding events will not learn about unless you either A) share it with them or they find out for themselves by completing the place.

Not to mention the content is just fun, i prefer the feeling of downing the really tough boss that made me his kitten for weeks then getting some stupid sparkly sword that triples my stats.

I will certainly get Halo 4, Disshonerd and grab the Dark souls DLC be playing them.
As it seems to go now i probbably wont look back at this game cuz the time investment and reward ratio has some issues, Its just not worth it for a cassual.

I dont mind failing 1000 times but i do mind failing 1000 times and be rewarded for only 15 tokens 35 silver

It’s funny how you’re complaining about not being awarded enough for your failure…. Yet you’re going to play demon/dark souls where you will die significantly more and be rewarded significantly less…

Logic, who needs it right?

I already finished it am going to buy the DLC
becuz i like the difficulty and the intellectual reward yes you can still be intellectualy rewarded for failing becuz you will learn everytime something new about that place or boss you couldent get through at first.
Dark souls is a hard game but it issent unfair when something is hard or you fail its your fault but GW2 dungeons are unffair atm there is no intelligence requerd besides dodge at the right time and apply as many dots possible to get some movement in that health bar oh i almost forgot and circle strafe -_-

example

Darksouls: trash mobs can hit increadbly hard or ar increadbly fast not both, both have reasonable health pools. some have much larger HP then others but there is always a strategie, a weapon, a weak spot or something this issent the case for GW2 mobs.
GW2: undead in Arah hit increadbly hard are increadbly fast and have vast amount of health.
Darksouls: trash mobs requeire strategie and planning
GW2: kiting in a circle for 3 min and you only got 1 down out of 10

Darksouls Boss: requeire strategie and planning.
GW2 Boss: circle strafing and watching the healthbar slowly move

I complain they have upped the unfair difficulty not the challenge cuz we all now
there is not much challenge about them there is a big difference in these 2 words.

Well your first problem is kiting every mob in circles the whole time, this may just be me but my entire group is primarily melee, 3 of us have ranged secondary sets, but they’re not used unless we absolutely need the utility for the most part, or in my case if i want to support the group a little bit, or mark a target with hunters call…

However, me being a huge hack and slash gamer fan (like demon/dark souls) i would prefer that things die faster because i dislike having to smack things over and over again until it finally dies, i know one of my groupies has started calling any humanoid boss a “Super <insert race here>” due to how much more of a beating they can take.

I am a Casual player and the OP is just making drama. Casual player is not the same as a bad player. Exp Dungeons are doable. Enough said.

Read my previous post.

Ya, I gotta agree if it’s made only for elitists things need to change… But the fact me an my friends can just charge blindly forward and succeed probably mean it not elitist…. Btw I’m not talking bout Arah haven’t done Anything past SE (other then CoF story) so no comments on those…. Yet.

Yeah…. I’m a casual, more so then a lot of people here saying they’re casuals… And I LOVE the new changes, the people being driven away aren’t casuals, they’re bad players who want games to go down to their ability, and not increase their ability to the games level.

To be honest I’m GLAD they’re leaving they’re annoying to listen to because all they do is squeal about how things, that are working as intended mind you, are broken and need to e nerfed.

When i say casual i mean someone that doesnt play often or is not a hardcore gamer. Someone that doesnt have time to research everything about the game. I am in no way saying casual =bad gamer.

To rephrase my op. Dungeons should not only be accessible to elitists.(do not derail again by arguing my use of the term elitist)

In my opinion if you have to RESEARCH the fight you don’t deserve to beat the fight, I have yet to even look up mechanics for a fight just learn as you go!! I’m so happy I’m finally playing with people that don’t need to read off everything…

God that was so annoying in other MMOs Id have to mute vent so I didn’t need to hear the neckbeard speaking about every mechanic in the fight…. Every….single…week….

Earth/Water build advice

Nah man you don’t need 30 in arcane, I run 10/10/30/20/0 and do pretty well actually!!

@OP so, for the first it’s talking about YOU and as for burst damage? Absolutely not, however you can do some pretty decent sustain that slowly ramps up over time all the while not taking much damage from Cond and mitigating raw damage, it’s pretty good, but not MY cup of tea…

As for earth, earth is more of the plant your feet and wreck the place sort of style, you’re designed to take more and just sorta outlast as they bleed out, sure you have burst options with Stone Throw (scepter 2 skill AFTER you put your shield up) as well as the infamous churning earth.

I use scepter and focus and after getting out of the ranger mindset where all CDs are special and should rarely be used I started wrecking everything with my heavy earth and water oriented build!!

Oh and reflect will reflect anything that’s ranged, so fireballs, blinding surge etc shoots back at enemy, however beams like greatsword 1 on Mesmer and air attune 1 on scepter go straight through reflects, so use that with caution!!

You do realize that they never said thered be no grind right? There’s no grind for best STATED gear, nothing to do with best LOOKING gear, I mean hell I hit lv 80 and within an hour had a full set of exotic weapons (I’m to attached to my gears apperance to upgrade from my blues… Don’t judge me…)

This is a Quote from colin

“alpha test groups learned to beat them using a combination of player skill, synchronous builds, strong use of cross-profession combos, use of cooking/consumable buffs (these make a huge difference!) and well formed player tactics.”

Now is it just me or is Almost all of that Completely impossible for a casual player or someone that doesn’t have a serious guild and mostly operates in PUGS.

I have played my necro for over 250hours now and played all 3 beta’s and have full exotic, And am using a nice round build i designed for dungeons, And am on skype with 3 friends and I still am finding the dungeons insanely hard.

there is simply no way on this earth that i could hope to bring my more casual friends with us and expect to succeed at them.

It’s come to my attention you don’t know what a casual player is…. I personally am a casual (I haven’t even been in game for about a week) and I’ve done just fine…

Geez people need to realize casual =/= bad, casual = not much time to play on a regular basis…

Water Field and Projectiles

in Ranger

When you fire a projectile through a water field it provides regen to anyone it passes through AND to all allies around the target when it hits.

What you’re having a problem with is that with almost EVERY projectile you only have a 20% chance to apply the effect but it will pop up saying what effect it will apply every time. So just because it’s saying “Regen!” doesn’t mean it’s being applied.

Ranger Axe - Condition or Power Weapon?

Didn’t read your post, i’m just going off the title, sorry if i completely miss what you’re going for i’ll repost AFTER reading it when i have more time…

The Axe is both really, the “Axe Mastery” trait thing increases your crit DAMAGE making it more of a Power weapon, yet due to how much bleeding you can inflict, and how often you can afflict it, it makes for a GREAT condition weapon!!

So it really just comes down to what you want to do with it because from my experience it works really well with conditions, power, and crit builds!!
