There is so much wrong with this post…. 1) this pets CD is 45 seconds untraited not 35 2) the summoned hyena has the same stats as the hyena did at the time of summoning, so if you had 25 stacks of might on your hyena and 25 stacks of mastersbond when you summon that hyena god help the poor soul of any enemy near you (this alone makes it stronger then any other pet)
3) This CD is BETTER then other canine skills, it gives you 2 pets to soak damage (really good in pvp) gives you 2 knock downs, 2 cripples, and 2 sources of damage, it essentially doubles the effectiveness of the hyena.
4) The hyena does NOT last for 10 seconds, i’ve had the hyena ally kept up for so long i ended up with 2 summoned hyenas at one time, the way the Summon Hyena skill works is that when your hyenas summoned he runs around and kills things, after you end combat the hyena will look for a nearby target, if there is none he will stand around for about 3-5 seconds and if he doesn’t get in combat again he will despawn.
In short, the hyena is equally powerful, if not more so damage wise then the others, he is grouped as a canine due to the pack feature and the fact that hyenas, although genetically are not like canines are actually EXTREMELY similar to canines in terms of how they react in groups.
Ah i remember back in the day when the hyena had the same stats as other canines and was the ONLY pet you’d see in pvp and pve… god i’m glad those days are gone xD

I only used a shortbow for all 5 levels because i liked how fast it shot… then i realized i thought the bows themselves looked stupid, and the skills were shallow and not all that great in a group situation so i went back to my longbow…. Huh, kinda strange that i went from Axe/Axe in beta, then they buff axes so i go to longbow…

You do realize thieves are SUPPOSED to do more damage then a ranger right? As such if a hit actually collides with them they’re pretty much killed on the spot, this isn’t wow, not every prof is supposed to provide the same amount of damage/passive survivability/support/control as the others…

Yeah, I can see where you would have gotten “l2p” from my “don’t give up” post. /rolleyes
The fact of the matter is that most people would rather whine about shortbow/pets/whatever and reroll instead of saying, “Okay, shortbow is borked. I wonder would happen if I made a build focused on greatsword defense and traps (or any other weird build you can think of).”
My post wasn’t a l2p post. It was a “learn to think outside the box” post, perhaps, but not a l2p post. Take it however you wish though. See you on the Warrior forums?
Ever thought that some people like beeing ranged and not melee? I love my pets and I am an Archer irl, it’s a sport I love. I’ve been a ranger in GW for 7 years. Why did I choose ranger?
http://www.guildwars.com/gameplay/professions/ranger/
The Ranger can also tame the beasts of the wild and command them to fight at the Ranger’s side. The Ranger is the master of the targeted distance attack and Rangers get the most out of ranged weapons like bows.
Why do I have one in GW2?
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/professions/ranger/
Unparalleled archers, rangers are capable of bringing down foes from a distance with their bows.
With traps, nature spirits, and a stable of loyal pets at their command, rangers can adapt to any situation.
I’m assuming you crossed those parts out because they aren’t parts that you were interested in? Personally, i’m with you, i went down the path of ranger because i absolutely LOVE the bow, always wanted to do archery/own a bow since i shot one a few times in boy scouts (still haven’t done either of those things =( ), the pet thing was also HUGE for me.
However the traps, adaptability, and nature spirits also played a role in me wanting to play one (granted the traps and spirits were minor).

Anyone else want to be Nightmare, for example, and burn down the tree?
It would be a nice change of pace to have alternate story lines based on a toon going to the dark side.
Not really, the game is supposed to be about coming together not destroying each other, and the LAST thing the nightmare court want to do is burn down the tree… a lot of people are under the illusion that most of the evil sides are true evil where infact they are not, for example the inquest and nightmare court both want to kill the dragons and defend tyria, hell the only reason inquest are evil is because they don’t use ethics for their experiments, which most asura turn a blind eye to. The nightmare court are evil to other sylvari only really, and they only do so because they want to break the tree away from the tablet and infect the dream with nightmare.
Sons of Svanir just want a good story and they worship the dragon spirit (jormag) in hopes that he will give them that, most Norn don’t see sons of Svanir as evil, however there ARE some sons of svanir that are without a doubt evil cough cough the one trying to slaughter everyone holding a weapon in LA cough cough but even then he’s not evil evil…
The only 2 that really are evil are the Flame legion and the Bandits, both don’t give a rats kitten about the dragons, and both are just kinda chaotic about how they do things…
But yeah, totally no, as much as i love the inquest and would love to be one of their members we can’t have “good” and “evil” without making factions and causing the opposite of what Anet wants.

Can we please get a book added to our home instance that we could open and then replay sections of our story? It can be called like the “Journal of Adventures Past” or “My Story” or something like that, because idk about you guys, but i would LOVE to be able to replay most, if not all of my story, it was so fun and now that it’s over, i’m just sad that i wont be able to play through that amazingness again unless i reroll (granted this has crossed my mind lol). Not to mention we could do this in GW1, so i was kinda hoping we’d be able to do it here too.
What do you guys think?
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
Blood Fiend = Wind Rider
Bone Fiend = Devourer
Flesh Wurm = I shouldn’t have to say
Bone Minion/Jagged Horror = Rats/baby skritt (they look very similar to me)
Shadow Fiend = Random summoned Spirit
Flesh Golem = An abomination, although i’ve heard the argument it’s a dredge, i personally think it’s just a bunch of corpses thrown together.
Those are what each thing is, just so ya know… personally i miss the OLD minions from GW1 those looked more horror esc, however i totally feel like necros are of the darker side, just listen to some of the things they say while using abilities and you’ll know what i mean…

I have some serious reserations about that video you posted. If you go 7min 6 seconds in and watch the life bar. He goes from 10% life to full instantly. I call hacking on this one unless someone can find some other excuse for it.
I’ve rolled that build in WVW and it’s just not that survivable naturally. I mean there’s a lot of things going for you if you control the map and 3 orbs. If you are conquering by that much it could very well mean that the other players at leveled 80 not actually 80 with maxed out gear like this person.
There are so many variables but in general that full life instantly is either a glitch. Some ability of another class I’ve never seen used as a complete heal on someone or is indeed a hack. There was no level up graphic so it wasn’t that.
I’d like to see this person try this in a dungeon. I really would. No way in hell they can take 4 or even 5 mobs on them in melee full time. They will be dead in roughly 20 seconds once block and all their heal shouts are on cooldown.
I’ve tried it.
You have to realize one MAJOR thing about that video, a lot of people don’t pay attention to the fact that he’s with like 4 other people, one of which was a guardian which shortly before (maybe afterward? i forget) you can see him running around with a TOME so i’m assuming it was a tome of courage and he used the aoe full heal ability.
Is he very survivable? Oh absolutely! no doubt in my mind, period, PERIOD, however is he as powerful/ OP as that video shows? Absolutely not, it’s not just him it’s a small strike force of people, they’re likely all on vent or mumble all working together. It’s really a beautiful illusion he painted for the people who aren’t very observant.

Like I said, moping about game changes and not even trying to adapt get you nowhere. I’m not even sure why I’m trying to explain this to a bunch of people who don’t even know the difference between your and you’re.
I’d say just give up on these guys and play the game, they think things are broken because they aren’t intelligent enough to use them properly, stop wasting your time and just play how you want, let them suffer QQ about how ranger is under powered and then reroll like just about every other FotM

nldixon.8514 lol if your gunna rely on a pet in pvp , you have already lost the battle , just saying.
Ps i think u need to do abit more research lol if your gunna rely on a broken mechanic.
Well if i were to rely on everything on this forum as fact, then my build wouldn’t work… i rely on my pet, i use 2 spirits, i use a longbow, i use a shortsword, i use traps, i activate sig of the wild… pretty much everything you people declare as “bad” i do, and i’ve been flourishing with success… so, yeah, you guys are just a bunch of idiots.

@Azizul the description is NOT wrong, it applies an 8 second bleed, 20 times, when the number is on the condition it means it’s applied that many times, that’s why you get skills like bonfire that say they apply 8 stacks of burning, which does not stack in intensity, nor does it apply all 8 seconds at one time.
The description is not wrong, you’re just looking at it wrong, the skill does apply a 20 intensity bleed, just over 20 seconds, that is essentially a 1 intensity bleed for 160 seconds which is the exact same damage as a 20 stack of bleed for 8 seconds.
except that the mob doesn’t suffer the bleeding they are supposed to get when i applied entangled to them
nvm, i found in the ranger bug list, that the skill is indeed bugged….
Um… they do suffer the bleeding they’re supposed to because if you haven’t noticed it says it immobilizes them for 20 seconds, yet according to you they should get all 20 immediately…. i’d rather it stay as is because that means if they burn the 8-9 stacks of bleeding they’ll have after 9 seconds then they’ll still get bleeding, where if they burn it at all 20 boom, you lost all potential damage from it.

Hang on, does it not in fact work like this: every time I attack there is a % chance for the buff on each spirit to go off. When the buff procs it affects everyone in range and then goes on a 3sec cd. Also length of the buffs are dependant on my buff duration stats (I know this is so for me at least, but i assume this applies to everyone who gets the buff).
I probably seem ignorant here arcane, its just that I cannot believe that what you say is true (I believe you, but I just can’t believe it if you know what I mean). I can’t believe that any dev would put in a skill like that, I mean the game has been in development for years.
Test it out yourself among your friends. I used to run a spirit pet build in BWE2 and quit after BWE3.
Ok just so I have this clear, the internal cooldown to proc the spirits is not calculated independently between players?
So if I hit something and get say the swiftness proc, then nobody else nearby will be able to get a buff from that spirit again for 3 seconds?
This is wrong, the forums swear up and down on this, but every single time i use a spirit in a dungeon (normally sun spirit where this becomes highly apparent especially while grouped with people who can not apply burning) it proves it wrong, the fact i’ve been able to get up to 2min (well 58 seconds, close enough) of burning on a boss by the end of the fight completely disproves this fictional 3 second internal CD per spirit.

I’m ok with the ranger’s #1 in downed. #2 is disappointing, but you should realize that you can still control your pet using F1, F2 & F3 in downed state. that being said, ranger’s downed #2 and #3 are pathetic.
What? being able to rez yourself is pathetic? News to me… When 3 works my god does that change the course of the fight while being downed! as for the 2, oh no… an aoe daze, how awful… why would you want to interrupt everyone trying to finish you/everyone infront of you with one really quick cast skill…

idk it doesn’t say anything in the description xD fail
lol entangle y u have so bad description?!?
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
well I was thinking that as well but technically it isn’t all nearby foes. It has a target range on it and I feel like its more of a target thing then a nearby thing. But I know what you mean it just needs to be changed.
I think it’s a radius around you isn’t it? because i know i’ve used it without having a target and it’ll just get all the guys near me..
btw, is there a cap on how many people you can grab with it?
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
Nope. The 1 ability is very situational for me. If there isn’t a target I can down with the 1 ability so I can Rally quickly, I won’t waste time smashing it.
Huh, then i do not have such an issue, and don’t think i ever have…. that’s pretty weird, do you think you could get a vid or anything of it so we could see if there is any 3rd party reason going on? (just REALLY weird and never heard of this happening before.)
Off Topic: Can we set the #1 skill to auto attack while downed? Because i was told by a friend if a skill is on auto cast it will be canceled from the que if you try to use a skill NOT set as auto cast.
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
That’d be misleading, it’d be “Entangle all nearby foes, immobilizing them until the vines are destroyed.”
sorry for being nit picky xD
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
@Deepwinter, now i spam the everliving hell out of my 1 ability while downed, so when my #2 doesn’t launch it’s usually because of the stupid Que System they have where your 1 skill isn’t overwritten by everything else… this may be the case for you? not sure.
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
@Deepwinter I know, that’s why i’m saying those things, however the funny thing is that because i know how it works people like you will assume that what’s tested is right, and since i don’t really care for testing such trivial things you’re going to not be taking full advantage of the prof because those things “don’t work”, just because something is documented doesn’t mean it’s true.
PS: Don’t really care if my grammar is bad, it’s an informal forum, not some scholarly paper.
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
@Druzlla, as opposed to what? The Longbow’s abilities?
1 and 2 to damage
3 to apply increased damage condition
4 for control and
5 for AoE Damage?Seems even more straightforward and easy to grasp to me.
You’d be surprised how a lot of rangers use longbows it makes me question sanity…. fighting other longbow rangers it’s usually Barrage —→ hunters shot --—> Rapid fire —-→ knockback —-→ auto-attack and it’s just like REALLY? You just used all your abilities…
i use 5 for AoE control, not for damage, i put it down to cut off escapes/shut down an area (people with a frontal lobe tend to stay out of barrage because bad things happen to people in barrages), 4 i use for control, 3 i use for AoE vuln and on someone i mark for death (ctrl +T), and then 1 and 2 i feel are fairly straight forward…
But yeah, they’re both straight forward, i just see more possibilities for longbow then shortbow, now this may just be because they’re more group oriented instead of single target oriented, shrugs who knows?
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
I mean seriously!!!!! You all going to say that ONLY SB was viable in pvp?
I go longbow and shortsword + warhorn (sometimes dagger) so don’t group all of us together… currently it seems only the really bad rangers (or those that actually like shortbow) are using only the shortbow because it’s the only weapon they seem to grasp, it’s probably because it’s fairly straight forward… stand behind enemy, spam 1, use 2 for aoe poison, 3 for escape, 4 to kite/prevent escape, 5 for control.
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
Once again this rumor is wrong, it’s not per person, from what i’ve seen there’s not even a cool down…
PS: I haven’t said this yet, this may be a bug… but the trait Natural Healing (BM 30 pt) heals your spirits passively as well as your pet, same goes with Signet of the Wild (doesn’t show up as them being affected by sig though) so i’m assuming these are bugs, but just throwing them out there for you guys…
For someone claiming these things are rumors, you sure do put a lot of ifs, maybes and “from what I’ve seen” in your statements. Do you have concrete data to back your claims that there is 1) no internal cooldown, 2) the buff affects everyone nearby and 3) that any sort of healing (trait, sigil or otherwise) affects these Spirits?
Or is it just “from what [you’ve] seen”? Hrmmm?
Consider this a challenge to Guild Wars 2 Ranger Mythbusters everywhere.
Well i was in a group where no one had a burning ability yet with a sun spirit up we were able to get 2 min of burning on a boss… this was with a MM necro, hammer/rifle warrior, dagger dagger (i think also shortbow?) thief, pistol/pistol thief (never used anything else), and me
Not to mention i’ve triggered burning 3 times in one rapid fire, same with swiftness, haven’t really been using the stone one as much in PvE (where i’m actually paying attention to this stuff) granted these scenarios are Rare because it’s only a 20% per hit to apply, getting it 3 times in a row is only a .8% chance…
As for the signet and the natural healing i can get a screen shot of this by the end of this week if it’s that big of a deal for you, it’s fairly obvious when they’re being healed when theres giant green numbers popping up over the spirit and his health bar is being filled…
PS: I say, “From what i’ve seen” a lot because it’s just that, what i’ve seen, i don’t have hard data (photos/videos) of this happening because i just flat out haven’t done any videos, and only have taken 2 screenies so far, so not much else i can say about it, because if i say something happened for fact you’ll demand evidence i just flat out don’t have and if i am to say “Just go test it” you’ll likely throw out the stupid “Oh but the burden of proof is on you!!” argument.

Ranger looks shallow from a glance, it takes some exploring to really notice how deep and complex it actually is… after finding this out i have once again fallen in love with ranger.
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
@Durzlla: the spirits are nothing like Shaman totems (my WoW main). Shaman could drop them anytime, anywhere, even call em back for a bit of mana regen. We have a long CD. Also, totems gave passive buffs to everyone in your party, not a 10% chance to proc maybe. And the range of totems was much larger. So…low CD/cost, reliable buffs, decent range, mobility (w/ TR). Oh yea…and they didn’t get one shotted by aoe.
This is true, because they’re immune to AoE. Would be nice, wouldn’t it?
Of course, it’d just be nice to have a reliable buff from these ethereal companions. The chance on hit for one ally within a short range, stacked with an internal 3 second cooldown, is intolerable!
Once again this rumor is wrong, it’s not per person, from what i’ve seen there’s not even a cool down…

@Seras, um they are LIKE shaman totems, they’re stationary summons that can be destroyed but apply effects to allies within range, back in the day there were totems that were proc effects, flametongue totem, Windfurry Totem, Rockbitter Totem, and w/e the frost one was called were all procs that made it so your allies had a chance for the weapon enchant to apply to them for X amount of time.
Not only that but if you please reread my post i said they’re LIKE totems not they ARE totems, and the range on totems was abysmal, had awful mobility compared to a fully speced spirit (you know where just just follow you with no additional effort on your part?) and oh please, they weren’t one shot by AE? well god i’d hope not since they avoided AoE but would fall over if a critter looked at the thing funny.
As for the CDs well god i would hope the class mechanic of a prof would have a shorter CD then an optional group support option… i mean really? That’s like saying “Oh well mesmers can spawn clones faster then my necromancer can spawn minions that means that minions are bad!” that’s essentially the logic you’re going with… And if you were better at spirit placement they wouldn’t be in AoE, as i said they have 900 range so you don’t need to stand on it, not to mention it’s a 20% chance 35% if you trait it so you’re just talking out your kitten #8230;
Next time you’re going to bash something, at least know what you’re talking about.
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
@Strongfort huh, my pet actually rezes me ~75% of the time, although it seems every time my pet actually rezzing me will save my kitten and help me get out of down state is when it doesn’t work….. i can’t tell you how many times i’ve almost thrown my computer out the window because my pet wasn’t rezzing me when he should’ve…
@OP i have had no issues with my #2 not firing off, i have had issues on it firing off as soon as i hit down state though which is REALLY annoying mind you… however i have not had issues of it just flat off not firing, however the enemy using stability and making it not work… that’s a different story…

@deepwinter, yup, because you know… that warrior didn’t have any friends at all with him…. oh wait… he was in a group of 5 people about the whole time…. god some people are so stupid it’s sickening….
Of COURSE i’m going to bring my friends, and my pet actually does better in WvW then dungeons because nothing even bothers to focus on him so he just runs around the back line killing the silly nerds in gift wrap as i pew pew with my longbow at the front line…

@Kasma, it’s not his opinion on what the ranger is, it’s Anets, that would make people with differenting opinions WRONG in the tyria universe, they have flat out said where in the 250 year span some profs, like the warrior, thief and mes, embraced the industrialism and technology, where the rangers, ele, and necros shunned it and relied more on their ancient ways/embraced magic further, seeing as how this was said in a blog post or an interview (idk what one if you care that much you can go read through all of em) i’m going to say that’s a very good reason as to why rangers don’t use anything blackpowder…
As their mother, I have to grant them their wish. – Forever Fyonna
How in the world are you speccing for spirits and having these issues? I have one trait boosting my spirits (natures vengeance) and my spirits go through their entire 60 second duration, or get killed around 45 second (unless i’m low health and throwing the spirit out to eat a shot or two for me then they die almost immediately)…
For the AI, they don’t need one… they’re totems from WoW except optional, can be made to follow you, and have their own active skills, i don’t WANT my spirit to run into combat when i activate his ability i activate his ability if enemy players, or npcs get to close to my spirit and then i normally either A) knock them away from my spirit or
descend on them like the angel of death and make absolutely sure they will get away from my spirit.
As for the Spirit of Nature active, that baby is FIIIIIIIINE i get 3 AoE rezzes from him, as well as passive healing, why in gods name should i nerf it so he only runs over and rezzes one dude? I tend to run with the same group of people so they all know to stand in a general 900yd radius of him to ensure they’ll be in the effect zone, and my god has he saved my groups kitten many a times, it’s gone from me being the last man standing to everyone being standing up and looking pretty as my spirit picks them all up and cleanses all the conditions on us.
As for the buffs and distance, the more i use them, the more i realize that i can be within axe throwing range of them (900 yds) and still get the buff… i tend to put the thing ~900 yds from the boss and then back up so both me, the longbow ranger plucking away from 1200 and the rest of my team who is almost all melee, can get the buffs. As for the procs… don’t even get me started on this… in a team of me, a thief, a necro, a riffle/hammer warrior, a pistol pistol shortbow thief, i was able to put down the sun spirit and the bosses would get so much burning on them that the white bar would just stop showing up and if you hovered over it’d say 2min or more… i think they proc well enough…
PS: When i go for an ALL spirit build i go with the double health trait, natures vengeance, and the increased proc chance, granted i ONLY run this in pvp and don’t do it in PvE (yet) but the reason i don’t take the one where they follow me is from my experience that almost always gets them out of the frying pan and into the fire so i’d rather just put them down and watch em do their work.
I’ve been reading some info on the forums that the spirits only buff ONE team member every 3 secs due to an internal CD of about 3 secs. Have you noticed this or do you think it buffs the whole group (if within range) when a buff procs?
This rumor is absolutely bull kitten, hell, i’ve gotten the same buff from a spirit multiple times within 3 seconds (granted that’s RARE but it is infact possible), i don’t even use the trait that makes it so there’s a higher chance to proc, so idk how good spirits passives would become with that.
One thing i’ve noticed about these forums (at least the ranger ones) is it’s a bunch of people that can’t play and they create these illusions of mechanics we have that don’t work, so read everything on here with a mountain of salt…. (can’t help but laugh when people tell me Longbow is underpowered lol)

Are we playing the same prof? i’m running longbow + sword/warhorn, 2 spirits, a signet (changes between wild, hunt, and occasionally the condition one) and either a trap or QZ and have no issues supporting, or killing people…
I also have 30 points in BM and my pet (a canine) does just fine destroying people, not to mention he’ll knock em down ensuring he can get a few more hits in…
But by all means go play warrior because “ranger is broken” totally an awful prof, idk why anyone would ever play it rolls eyes but seriously once all you bad players who don’t listen to advice are gone maybe i could expect a challenge from the enemy rangers in pvp….

Noting the problems with everyone sticking to Orr, as it is the most profitable, and not going back to previously played areas, I came up with this idea:
Like existing daily achievements, give every map its own daily achievement, with a reward of about 20 silver for completing it. The time required to complete them should be about the same as running a dungeon for the first time per day, after all.
The required achievements per zone could be the same as the actual daily: a certain number of completed DEs, gathered nodes, total kills, enemy variety.
This would encourage returning to old zones, reexploring areas while at the same time making returning to lower level zones as profitable as farming Orr, while at the same time encouraging people to move across as many zones as possible.
I would be fully behind this IF and only IF they made it so there was a cap of how many zones you can do per day so then you don’t have people with tons and tons of time shooting ahead of those who don’t have much time, and for obvious reasons Orr is completely excluded from these dailies.
If you put a cap i believe it’ll make it so people go and visit the zones they really want to visit that day instead of just mindlessly going to every zone and doing the dailies
You could also set it to region, rather than zone, if you wanted. Kryta, Old Ascalon, Maguuma, Orr, without specifying the zones themselves.
I don’t really have a problem with people “shooting ahead” based on time spent, as most of the richest people in the game are rich from the TP, which they can manage, buy/sell in a few minutes anyway.
Well those that have a lot of time would be able to do all 5 zones dailies, where people without much time will spend their time doing something else, it’d work out quite well.
And if the goal is to get people to LEAVE orr then we probably shouldn’t have Orr be a region where you can do the dailies.

Durzlla, dead people do less dps. Though I agree having more variation in mf gear is always fun.
If you’re dying then you’re not avodiing the damage, my friend runs in full magic find gear and me and him are the ones who die the least, i personally wear clerics gear, but i’ve seen people dressing in soldiers gear and they die at least 5 times every fight, it’s ridiculous how stupid some people are…

Remove the death penalties in this game (repair and waypoint costs)

The thing is, death is avoidable. WvW costs for repair should be lowered I agree but in PVE? Its a necessary gold sink since it doesn’t even cost too much as long as you arnt jumping off cliffs onto solid ground or linking the dungeon. Id much rather pay for repairs than go through death penalty again from GW1..
Actually, dying from fall damage will not damage your gear…
However, i much prefer dropping coin in order to continue instead of having to leave and completely restart because you died to much and are no longer able to fight anything…

Hahah be careful, don’t go with this thread, moderators think it’s too “frivolous” and will delete it =)
a)
It’s kinda annoying that if i want to wear magic find gear that i need to essentially go “lololololololo screw you groupies!
People are maxing Magic Find for dungeons and not telling anyone! They bring the party down.
-> Agreed 100% but hey, once more, fanboys are gonna come with that “gw2 is not elitist wow” crap : )
b)
Again I’ll mention that MF can be stacked without having to use gear with the stat. Add Pirate and Traveler runes to gear for MF. Add Luck sigils to weapons for MF.
-> I can have more magic find than only with runes, sigil and buffs by using MF gear killing useful stats so why wouldn’t I ? Screw vitality, screw healing power, more magic find it is.
That’s pretty much the idea you know : ). Plus, take one second and think about what runes and sigils you could have instead of this selfish magic find ?The current magic find system encourage people to play in a less effective way, for their own advantage instead of maxing for the group.
ANet wants us to play in a cooperative way, with selfish mechanics, that’s nonsense.
Well i can play cooperatively with a magic find set, that’s a non issue, infact one of my friends does this, however they also want us to be able to play how we want to (to an extent) which only having precession and power on magic find gear does NOT let you do because it not only prevents you from using condition damage as your form of dps, but it also doesn’t let you have any survivability or any healing power (which i use quite often with support due to how much regen i can apply to people)

adding inspect wont change anything.people can just wear the dps set when they join then switch to a mf set that is transmuted to look the same as their dps set and you still wont know.only way to know is to use a dps meter
and i agree.if they are going to keep mf then they should make mf sets for every combination.i use condition damage and power/precision isnt going to do anything for me
once again THERE IS NO DIFFERENCE between a “dps set” and a MF set other then the fact that the dps set will have some defensive stats (unless they’re using con damage in which case magic find set is just useless), if you are smart and don’t stand in bad stuff and know how to dodge then you wont even know if so and so is using a MF or a “DPS” set, so stop using this stupid argument.

The idea is to add more weapon skill so it can be switched like the utility skill. The skill itself consist of several part which is.
-Primary skill (A.K.A Auto attack)
-Secondary skill
-Off hand skillThe skillset itself can be alternate route for the weapon itself, so it doesn’t punish someone who use spesific weapon on different build.
Example: Changing Warrior’s mace auto atk so it does more dmg instead of cripling, while change sword offhand skill “impale” to other skill that do direct damage. This also able to make you able to chose your own playing style.
Now i support this, but everytime i’ve even mentioned this idea i’ve just been mauled by a bunch of people saying it’d be “detrimental to the game” because you wouldn’t know what to expect from someone using a sword and blah blah blah.

You don’t need to suggest it… Anet has said pre launch that Duels are something they want to add, but they wont be in at launch but will be added at a later date.

People are maxing Magic Find stats over everything else and running dungeons. Perhaps you aren’t. Others are. It’s a known problem most players are angry about… Being able to inspect another players gear is a common feature in MMOs that is a safe guard in many scenarios, it’s not just about bragging rights. It’s desperately needed in GW2.
If they had condition damage or healing power on magic find gear i would… like i said in my post, i want to use magic find but there’s no magic find gear to go with my build…
Did you even READ the post? you clearly don’t know how magic find works, and you’re not really helping my post with anything other then bumping it so can you please move along?

More Town Clothing: Unlock NPC Garb, Unlock Common Gear Appearance

I agree with this!! Btw, this is heavily rumored but…..
I heard that Tailors were supposed to make town clothing, but they didn’t get around to implementing it or w/e so we don’t have it IG yet, however this is rumored and may be highly unreliable.

People are maxing Magic Find for dungeons and not telling anyone! They bring the party down. We need a way to inspect the stats on other players to keep everyone honest…. It’s simple, select player. Right-click “inspect” I see their details. AION had the ability to inspect character 2.5 years ago. It’s a very fundamental feature that’s missing in GW2 and it’s definitely hurting the PvE side of the game.
They purposefully didn’t put this in because of people like you, and they’re not bringing the target down, i could be wearing the armor that gives me the SAME stats as magic find but also gives some mediocre crit damage and you wouldn’t be kittening just because you aren’t getting lower quality loot then me.
Btw, this isn’t the point of the thread, the point of this thread is to add armor with magic find and more then just power/precision on it, if you want to go complain about how “Magic Find is destroying the game!” then go to one of the many other threads!!

As amazing as these ideas are, I’m sure there’d be some form of complaint regarding religion and how it doesn’t cater for all religions
None of those are a religious thing, the christmas tree is used in SEVERAL religions (actually originating in a pagan one), the only people that’d be butt hurt are the ones who are ill informed and would get butt hurt by the mere mentioning of christmas.
@OP I absolutely LOVE the idea, especially that i get to entangle people in lights!! Those things are freaking annoying IRL and they’ll be annoying IG too!!

Can we please either get a magic find set with some healing power on it or just like scrap it? It’s kinda annoying that if i want to wear magic find gear that i need to essentially go “lololololololo screw you groupies! i’m going full on damage!”
I know a ton of people are saying we should remove it (i don’t agree), but i think it’s a cool mechanic that rewards players that are better and can take the stat hit, my only issue is that you can’t build with healing to help support the group, or Condition damage, this completely removes a good amount of builds in the game (i’m not really suggestion a toughness +vitality magic find because that takes the risk out of things and just makes you incapable of doing anything well.)
What do you guys think?

It’s quite a bit slower yes, as in i can’t get 4 arrows flying in the air at once, however it’s still really fast… and i think you’re over exaggerating…

A morphing class like a Druid might be fun. You learn from pets in the wild, and when you morph to them, you get to learn their 5 moves. Learn as many as you want, load up 4 at a time, sort of like the Elementalist elements.
Seems like the mechanics are there.
Or rather than a Druid, make it a Doppleganger where you become other humanoids with abilities? Thinking out loud
If they had that druid class i would pounce on that in NO time, no time at all!! However, it doesn’t really fit the GW universe (ATM) however, it’s possible we may discover an unknown race, or a distant land and learn that they have people that have been doing it for years!!
PS: I would prefer a doppleganger type thing where you can transform into your target and the such as well as the animals
Don’t the norn shapeshift like crazy? Doesn’t seem too farfetch for me. Heck, it would at least be an interesting class.
They do, but NORN are the ONLY ones who can do that, humans, charr, asura, sylvari can’t shapeshift like a mofo, and they want all the profs to be able to be played which would be a problem unless we go to some distant land where we find the other races shapeshifting (probably due to some magical technique we don’t practice in tyria which isn’t far fetched seeing ritualist, dervish, sin, and paragon.)
