@OP: Like I said on your reddit post. Yes we need a stat to reduce condition damage, but +toughness may be a better choice than +healing.
No, we don’t need more condition damage buff. The lack of control on condition damage is currently harming WvW and GvG. It’s so powerful that condition and boon share pickup blobs are even a thing now lol.
In my opinion, WvW and GvG need:
- a stat which would significantly decrease condition damage (+toughness)
- a rework of the resistance boon (no more immunity, just decrease condition duration by x%)
- a rework of the way boons stack in duration through boon share (mainly for resistance and celerity)
- a Rite of the Great Dwarf nerf (either through a cooldown or a decrease in the damage reduction amount) – obviously not related to condition damage but still a problem
If the raid is more about blob fighting that night, we will buff up the condi clears and waters to adapt..
Cleanse aren’t enough with the current condi spam meta.
It takes way more than a druid and an elem

Yep, this bug is very annoying. The squad UI doesn’t help much when it comes to ground targeted heals (squad UI would have been good if we had single target heals, health bars below nameplates are required for ground targeted heals because you have to quickly check where are your most hurt allies).
If it’s already annoying in raids (which is a scripted environment with only 10 players), just imagine playing a druid in WvW with 50 players pretty much everywhere. This bug currently makes it unplayable.
It has been reported here on the forum, here on reddit, also here on reddit and in various other reddit threads.
Still no news from ANet.

Well, now I see another problem that ppl have reported somewhere. When having it to Show All Player Names I see their nameplate, but the health bar is only visible if I hover them :S

Being able to see all health bars is very important in both Raids and WvW. Druids is the most affected specialization (ground targeted heals). Squad UI doesn’t really help.
Still no news from ANet.

I’m also with you on this, it’s great to see some WvW love. The reward tracks, the stability change and many fixes to WvW are great. I can’t wait for the population balance.
But I still have problems with condition damage being out of control, the DBL (which is in a better state but still hard to navigate) and this new annoying squad UI bug.

Since the April patch, you can’t see health bars above squad members (nameplates) anymore. In order to display it, you have to mouseover a squad member (or 15-50 squad members to find where you should ground target your next heal).
I don’t know if it’s an intended feature or a bug but it makes druid, and possibly other support specializations, hardly playable in WvW. If it’s intended, it makes no sense, while “ground target healing” you need a way to read who needs HP back fast and where, at least add an option to toggle it on and off.

Can anyone please explain to me who is going to use the glyphs in this form?
I only play WvW (scrim/gvg) and I do use 3 or 4 of them depending on my build.
- Glyph of Rejuvenation is a great emergency heal both in and out of CAF
- Glyph of Alignment in CAF is one of our strongest burst heal
- Glyph of Equality in CAF saves life if you pay enough attention to stun break your teammates when they are stuck in a bomb
- Glyph of the Tides in CAF has some use to stack/restack enemies in a bomb
I don’t know about Unity and Empowerment, I don’t PvE :/
On another hand, I’m more concerned by our CAF resource generation (a 120 rejuv tick generating as much as a 5000 heal, wtf?) and starting some fights with 0% AF (no out of combat regeneration, wtf?).

Currently, I don’t even invest in Power, Precision or Ferocity anymore. I would never trade my +1525 healing +50% heal efficiency and extra survivability for +150 dmg per staff hit ;)I also find that true with P, P, and F. Although if solo I’d probably sport those stats.
BTW – how in the heck are you managing 1500+ healing power and heal efficiency?
With a full ascended nomad/minstrel mix, healing infusions, 10 Natural Mender stacks, Superior Sigil of Transference, Superior Runes of the Monk, Delicious Rice Balls and Furious Tuning Crystals.

Guys power with the staff is really cringeworthy.
Why don’t go full condi? Dire for tanky or Rabid to more glassy is fun. You can get some bleeds in there with a condi weapon, and even with the staff you can do some damage.I think the druid should focus in conditions because the power damage is really bad iif you go for staff.
And it doesn’t worth to invest in healing at the moment.
I kinda agree with the first sentence. Power doesn’t scale well with staff. I wouldn’t invest more than 1800 in this stat. After this value, I would rather add crit chance and crit damage (gear could be a mix of crusader and celestial for the extra stat values).
I strongly disagree with the last sentence. If you wanna play GvG (the OP asked for GvG builds), healing and heal efficiency on allies are great stats. There is a significant difference in value healed between a +750 healing and a +1500 healing set. There is also a significant difference between +20% heal efficiency and +50% heal efficiency on allies.

@Caliburn: I do play druid on EU with way more than 125 scrim rounds since xpac ;)
We are still testing stuff and recruiting for our new roster but so far we have had good results. I play with minstrel/nomad gear (self buffed: 1525 healing, 50% healing eff., 3k4 armor, 23k hp, 37% boon duration – for regens / caf generation contribution), with 3 or 4 glyphs equipped, in the commander’s group and close to the frontline.
I’m currently the only druid in my guild group but we did try it with two in open field (T1) and it felt like “god mode”. Your melee train can litterally sit in a bomb and constantly push the enemy lines. The damage you lose from including a full healing class is counter-balanced by the increased uptime your guild group gains on the enemy.
The thing is, I have seen almost nobody play druid to its full potential. Most of the druid I have seen are just using CAF #3 on cooldown from max range and that’s it.
Tips: CAF #1 + quickness is underrated, CAF #2 is underrated, CAF #4 has to be precalled on vocal, glyphs are one of our best tools, time in CAF has to be managed carefully, while out of CAF generating enough resource before the 10 sec CD is your priority.

If you wanna try, I can PM you my WvW build (staff/staff, 1525 healing, 24k hp, 3k4 armor, max Astral Focus generation – you hit the 10 sec CD everytime, no damage stat).
It has been designed mainly for outnumbered fights with a 15-20 guild group.

Same, I’m the happiest I have ever been! Sure there are things that are wonky/bugged/I wish they would do X instead of Y but I’m not going to slit my wrists over it. I also find it funny you can’t say a single positive comment about Hot/Druid without getting labelled as a white knight and stoned to death.
Being happy doesn’t mean that the specialization is fine.
I’m also happy but not blinded. I mainly play WvW in a 15 or 20 format (GvG or GvZerg) and here, you can see most of the current druid problems:
- Generation being based on ticks instead of value healed + no generation on full HP targets + burst healing skills (required in WvW) = broken generation model
- No out-of-combat natural AF generation + no way to precharge it out-of-combat + respawn with 0 AF (while you get full AF in sPvP?!) = broken resource mechanic
Keep in mind that in WvW (with a 15/20 group) you have to heal fast, for big and as soon as the fight begins. You can’t start the fight with 0 AF. You have to top your teammates’ health fast. I’m still happy because it’s “playable” with workarounds but also unhappy because of how broken the resource mechanic is.
Anyway, adding a 5% per sec AF generation while out of combat would be a step towards something less broken (20 sec to full). Even a 2.5% would be fine (40 sec to full).
Next step would be: transforming the generation model from per tick to per value.
Now that we have to play druid with this poorly thought resource model, at least let’s make it right. Silence or delusion won’t help.
I have been playing healer for 17 years in a lot of different MMOs. It’s the first time I see such a badly built resource system on a healer. They got it right in their previous game, how can they be so wrong in this one?

The ranger class is in better spot now than what it ever was since the beginning of the game 3 years ago. MUCH better. It’s a viable and much desirable class in all 3 game modes.
PS: AF generation is not broken. You just don’t like it so you call it broken. Broken was to stand in front of 5 afk people, click #6 and get full AF in the next 3 secs.
PS2: You don’t have to “keep on losing a utility slot”, where did you get that?
PS3: You don’t have to take beastmastery. In fact beastmastery is only mandatory in the PvP cele druid build. Raid druids don’t even touch it.

I do want to reinforce – we absolutely plan to do a major quarterly balance updates every 3 months (with a short period after each update to make small tweaks before the next PvP league season begins). The next one is due to arrive after this current PvP season ends.
There are loads of reasons why HoT was considered for us the first big balance update (and the month that followed it) for this PvP League and we couldn’t do any more balance updates before this one, but the reality is none of them really matter since they are just words. What you all care about is action.
As we’ve said before: in 2016 we’ll do one major balance update every 3 months; shortly the balance team will start discussing with you the next big balance update for early 2016 with everyone to gather feedback; and hopefully in the future action will reinforce expectations.
I realize it’s not the immediate answer everyone wants to hear this second, but it’s the realistic one of where we are today – and where we will be when 2016 starts. I’m not entirely sure why this wasn’t clear before now, and I’ll try and get to the bottom of why that messaging wasn’t provided, but that’s exactly where we stand today.
Balance is super important in a world where WvW, Raids, Fractals, PvP, etc. are key components to Gw2’s success. And ensuring we have a new major balance update you can count on every 3 months is one of our keys to accomplishing that goal.
How I read it:
- Druids’ AF generation will remain broken till early 2016
- I will have to keep on losing a utility slot and having beastmastery just to ensure enough AF generation to hit the 10 sec cooldown while in combat till hopefully early 2016
- I will have to keep on asking for a suicide before every sanctum/arena GvG/Scrim round to be able to charge my AF till hopefully early 2016 (because still no OOC AF generation)
- But I should rejoice! Someone is about to gather some precious feedbacks

Indeed. I’ll try and get an apothecary set for my Tempest to try this out. You have my interest piqued.
Before buying an Apothecary set, you should know that the Elementalist in this video is running Dagger/Warhorn with a Zealot set (it’s currently one of the best weapon/stat combination for a raid healer tempest).
The OP plays Apothecary with Staff which is, in my opinion, the worst combination. I main Elementalist in PvE and I wouldn’t recommend it. It might work if you sit in water, spam heal and don’t care about damage, but even for this, there are better stat choices.
Yes, auras are great. Both druid and tempest can main heal the current raid wing. But Apothecary + Staff is a mistake. If the OP enjoys it, fine for him but don’t be misled ;)

Staff might be the worst weapon for that kind of build. You should try dagger/warhorn if you wanna run condi / heal / boon share ;)
You would be correct if it wasn’t for water 1 and if I wasn’t main healing.

Anyway, if you only heal, staff is better. If you condi / heal / boon share, dagger/warhorn is waaay better with your gear. I guess it depends on how good your raid is at avoiding obvious damage ;)

Anyway, does it really matter? Good feedbacks were given and they didn’t listen. Last patch broke the specialization in PvP and WvW. I mean, it was ok to fix it but not without a change to in-combat AF generation (generation per value instead of per tick required here) and a natural out-of-combat AF generation (5% per sec could have been fine).
The druid’s current situation is ridiculous.

After a few days, this change is even dumber than expected… Seriously who the kitten came up with this idea?
When you respawn in WvW, you begin with an empty AF bar. Good luck charging it… Currently my raid has to wait for me before leaving our spawn. Just picture it: 20-25 players waiting for a druid, who is next to them fighting a random Pig to charge his AF.
Get downed with 90% AF, rally with 0% AF. kthx.
A few players are at 80% HP… Heal them to full? NO! Just use you staff 1 spam or else you won’t generate AF. Ye, right ANet… Less hp healed = more AF generated, so smart.
This change is kittened up in so many ways…
Let us:
- Slowly generate AF while out of combat (5% per sec)
- Generate AF per value healed/damaged instead of per hit/tick count
- Keep our(/some) AF on rally
Then, this “fix” might be acceptable.

I made the mistake to apply my theorycrafting and tweak it after every nerf/change. I crafted and switched stats on ascended gold sink 6 times since druid release. I’m done and I should get an achievement for it: “Deep kittened by ANet” – 10 AP.

For the general population smoke assault on F2 is the better decision. For top tier PvP either is situational. It is a real shame we can’t control every pet skill.
Exactly opposite, F2 smoke field you meant to say, while majority even expressed that in poll.

Some will be unhappy with the decision, having control over a skill is always better than having it on auto-cast (everybody understand that, not just the “known and respectable members of this forum”). That’s pure logic.
Still, the situation is worse if Smoke Field is the one on auto-cast. There are more people who want it reverted back to F2, more PROs to it and great arguments have been provided. There are even posts which summarize the PROs and CONs of both solutions quite well.
On a side note, relevancy isn’t measured by a post count (and if it were to be, his post count is close to yours), or being part of a PvP team, or streaming on Twitch.

I’m not going to heal anyone until I can see their health bars. I’m not just randomly going to throw around some AoE heals in the hope that maybe someone needs it.
Yup, it sucks right now. I had a chance to test with the squad UI during beta. In WvW it was great, you could see the nameplates over every player in your squad.
Right now, you have to predict incoming damage and mouseover your teammates. It sucks but is still quite enjoyable/“playable” imo.

This is a HUGE issue for many and to be honest, one of the WORST designs for WWW content. Some classes and builds are just hugely penalized. That anyone in the raid,group tags is enough is just completely lack of understanding, imho. It makes me so angry, how they could have done it like this, I cant type anymore.

I must also admit that while I don’t care about bags in WvW, PvE is whole different story. I have been leveling my masteries in HoT lately and I would rather tag as many npcs and totally avoid healing even if people have to die in the process :/

Question! Why does the Smoke Assault need to do less damage if it swaps back with the Smoke field? Wasn’t is already nerfed by 50%?
Oh and I support the field on F2.
Because people are still whining about its damage in PvP even post-nerf (mainly due to the easy mode might stacking which will end up being nerfed anyway).
I guess that mentioning a possible swap back to smoke field represented a good way for ANet to justify another nerf (we give you this back, but we have to take that in return).
Still, smoke field was a better F2.
Automatic overlapping smoke field is an awful design decision.

In WvW its unfortunetly DOA. The staff has good utility but as a weapon its godawful. You will be lucky to get a couple of lootbags when you wipe 50 man. The glyphs being very short range pbaoe means the only way to use them is rushing straight in and the druid doesnt really have the survivability for that. Its also really lacking a constant AoE heal. Guardian and elementalist healer beat it IMO while offering just as good utility in zerg warfare.
Druid is not D.O.A. in WvW. I’m playing Druid on a T1 server, mainly in a Guild group (LAYS) but we have also been hosting PUG lately due to low WvW population post-HoT.
Even if post-beta nerfs hurt a lot and some of its utilities were removed (CAF CD, CAF duration, AF generation, smokecloud’s F2 swap), Druid is still a great asset to a WvW team. When we play as a guild, I’m always in the commander’s group. They don’t want me to play on my elem anymore
Currently, it’s in my opinion the best WvW healer. You can keep alive your whole Guild group even if you are the only healer and the only water field provider. Druid brings huge burst heals, constant water fields, a kitten load of AE-Interrupts, dispels (both offensive and defensive). Yes, I don’t get many bags but I don’t really care.
As of survivability while being in glyph range, I have no problem at all. I stick to the commander and melee train without any issue. I almost never die.
The equipment I have tested so far :
- Full ascended nomad, Staff / Staff
- Mix of ascended Zealot and Nomad, Staff / Staff (wanted to try with more damage, staff’s damage just scales poorly)
- Mix of ascended Minstrel and Nomad, Staff / Staff (what I’m currently playing)
If you like healing, you should give it a try. Just be prepared to constantly hit the CAF CD and go mad about it

We (in favor of the reversal) have already provided good arguments. Even Irinio has agreed to investigate this. All you are saying is: “there is no debate I and a lot of top well known players (who are they again?) are supporting Smoke Assault on F2, so we must be right”. Then you say “The End.”

Players that claim otherwise are welcome to “control” smoke field not on F2 with the same methods they ask as to control assault.

The drama was created by players asking for the roll-back, creating this topic 5 min after the patch released, probably before even giving the new version a try. The other players that liked the change only started to react only after Irenio CalmonHuang said he will look into it, getting overwhelmed by the amount “drama”.

Among the players the supporting assault staying on F2 are some the most veterans rangers on this forum, top pvp players and twich streamers, I’m sure they have a very wide view of the ranger profession.

Druid overwrites fields ? NO, druid provides water field on-demand. That’s the difference here. Smoke field has to be on-demand.
Druid uses Glyphs that overwrite fields if you use Verdant Etching (which most people do). See? You spoil your own fields.
Or do you want to tell me that water field is better defense than 4sec AoE daze or AoE knockback? (In case you say “don’t use Glyphs when they attack you and you need to heal”)Same scenario. You have 1 field you want (water) and other random mechanic spoils it without you wanting it (light from seeds). And no one cares.
You don’t have people saying “Omg he spawned a light field! Let’s proc retal from it everybody!”.
It’s PvP. 90% of team-fight combos are random. Self-using or duels are completely different and are not a subject for balance.
Mainly talking about WvW but still. Glyphs are on-demand, it’s not like if Verdant Etching was some random proc.
People do care in WvW, at least in guild groups. Water fields are not only blasted on repacks, some teams will play with it aggressively. Cover it and you will actually hear people yelling.
The game mixes PvP (sPvP, WvW, GvG) and PvE (solo, dungeons, fractals, events, raids), you have to think global when you adress that kind of matter.
