I know you’re referring to the golem event, but I normally chalk that up to miasma, just toxic magical waste. Lots of stuff was going on at thaumanova, just like in CoE, but the creatures (chaos beasts) that appear still stick to the blk/purple scheme same as in the chaos crystal caverns.

@blurk, why do you associate chaos magic and the color green? Green is most always associated with necromancers, chaos magic being normally black and purple/pink like the chaos beasts, chaos storm etc.

Also, I think the “fall of Abbadon” was gonna be more about why he went rouge, and less about his defeat by the other 5

I actually feel like its more like a network of CPUs. Alone the processor is not as fast as when networked with others. Maybe its less conceptualizing and more simple problem solving done quickly, like farming bitcoins. I’m just thinking if it encompasses more than that, they’d likely have more elaborate dwellings etc where highly concentrated. So far all I’ve seen are giant junk piles.

What if, for a “stat change” token you simply tie them to things like zone completions or guild challenges. Guild Challenges haven’t been added to since the came out really. And I doubt many are jumping for joy over their zone completion rewards.

that is a very good point. I do not know as much about them as a sect as I maybe should. I still think the act itself initially could be viewed negatively from “mother tree’s” perspective. How negative, would be hard to say. Any mother would be hurt, being shunned by her own children. Who’s to say how that affected her, or how she truly feels about them. Is it a craving to bring them back? A desire to punish them for their betrayal? Certainly the actions and activity of the NC are more of a pressing concern, since they are openly hostile towards her, but I’m sure she is anything but content with the situation. I say all that to say this. IF the Pale Tree does indeed view the act of becoming soundless as a sin against her, then she would feel even more angry with the child that made such a thing reality. This is why I feel like it could be the secret that Caithe is hiding. Perhaps in her travels with Faolain, she discovered the means to become soundless and passed on that knowledge. As a firstborn, and heroine of the sylvari, this would be a horrible thing to have come to light. If this is her secret and Scarlett knows this….that could make for an interesting story.

I gave you a +1 Foxx for having some class. I suppose I am just accustomed to his style of writing now, and maybe a little touchy as to some of the rampant flaming (no pun intended) of posts that has been going on lately. While there are almost always flaws in the theories posted here, I still appreciate those that do take the time to look into what they are theorizing about (even if they miss things) and try and postulate something new. You (Foxx) have always been one of the more knowledgeable people here and normally have been one of the more supportive members of this sub-forum, so I was a little shocked at your first reply here is all. All good though. I think Steven’s ideas have some solid ground beneath them. I wish I knew more to help round it out some, but I leave that to you guys who are far better at it than I.
I also still feel like Caithe’s secret could very well be tied to one of the 2 ideas put out above. does anyone have anything that debunks the thought?

Plus the ritualist spirit summonings were reincarnated as guardian spirit weapons. Guard= part paragon, part monk, and part ritualist.

I’ve also held personal speculations of this being Caithe’s big secret. I just don’t research and therefore, do not post theories. But this is obviously not a fan fic have a little respect at least.

I think they’re a bit small for giants. Similarly with jotun. Are there any other somewhat nomadic races? Maybe a race that isn’t around anymore? Otherwise it must be from the gargoyles before they disappeared!!! Lol

I still think you’re stumbling in the right direction. All the pieces are supposed to fit somehow! I’ve been wondering what her obsession with portals is, as we’ve seen her employ several types. Trying to gain access to the mists is a great possible explanation. But why? What does she have to gain there? Is she going to try and usurp the power of a god? Unleash Dhuum? Send the dragons away? Hybridize the shadow army? Keep going, I’d love to see how your theory evolves.

I agree with the above posters, I’ve always assumed they were abandoned grawl dwellings. They seem to be located around places where they would have been pushed out by an invading faction in the area.
While I can’t at the moment, try checking the grawl camp in the SE corner of frostgorge, the painting styles may match, and possibly prove/disprove the idea.

Presumably, to you. Could be argued that a seed is a sleeping planted until its planted….

Well the druids shed their humanity to become closer to (nature/dwayna I don’t remember), is it too much of a stretch to say that the ultimate extent of that was the evolution into seed form? IIRC, they were on the decline and disappearing. Makes some sense to me, could also explain the default “human” look sylvari have.

The druids were my first thought when I read that way back when. I still think they hold significance. I used to think perhaps the druids ultimately became those seeds, I had nothing to support the idea then, and still don’t, but I still like the idea, where did the druids go? The literature said powerful plant creatures guarded them, nothing says they were hostile, and surely 1 lone human wouldn’t overpower them by himself….perhaps an accord was reached between them? Any other thoughts?

Well, we’ll find out soon! By the end of February, the story arc will be completed. I guess we’ll have to wait and see! I’m hoping the writerss ability really shines, I’m hopeful that the end will bring sense to the story as a whole, and maybe some of the angst can dissipate.

Don’t forget the bandit/white mantle which is directly threatening divinity’s as well as ministers seeking to overthrow the queen….

1 thing I noticed upon visiting the site. No Chaos Beasts are there through any type of displacement. They either spawn from the chaos shards, or the chaotic material during the event. Not sure how much that impacts your theory.

A point to consider, this is a PUBLIC forum for open discussion, NOT your personal property. I have read this thread from top to bottom, and even went as far as to look up the missions in question on the Gw1wiki, sir, you have your facts twisted. Stop getting defensive and hostile to the people that are trying to provide you the correct information. I do not wish to insult you, but you are becoming increasingly stubborn and hostile. The only thing "derailing thread is your own inability to comprehend that you got a few things wrong. I’m sorry, people make mistakes, learn from it and move on, but don’t take it out on here if you can’t handle that.

Not the wiki…but contains research and articles/interviews etc. Most topics from the people that wrote the wiki.

It’s been this way for months. The skins are 1 ticket while that part if the LS is active, then become 5+ tickets after. A little research goes a long way, looking at the other items the vendor has should have been a huge clue, but checking things like the forums and the wiki are also great ideas before any purchase.

Well, there is the dorms, its an additional room that wasn’t in the story mode. I’ll take some screens for you next time I’m in there.

I have never been a big fan of ZvZ. I won’t call it world vs world, because its really not. Its zerg central, and they with the biggest wins. zerg style play isn’t fun…for me. I hoped the addition of the meta would help me enjoy this aspect of the game, but I only hate it more now. The whole concept could have been a great tool to promote strong guilds. I still think changing ZvZ into a giant version of tPvP would be better. Let guilds and Alliances queue up for those maps, put a cap on team size, THEN start a league. This would encourage guild recruiting, alliances, as well as healthy competition. As it is, it is simply unfun and encourages hateful attitudes in the community.

I don’t think a traditional xpac is needed. One thing shown through the LS so far has been that without doubt, it has the capacity to bring an xpac’s worth of content. What is has so far failed to do, putting aside any story/glitch/bug/zerg complaints, is “expand” the world. That is part of what made the labyrinthine cliffs so popular. It was new territory. Even if it was only a fraction of the size of a normal zone.
I’d like to see several LS updates work that way, and, maybe after a month or 3 of updates, we might have a full zone revealed. Sure the LS would take us there, but perhaps as it concludes, it leaves behind new DEs and heart quests.
In short, however they go about it, I just want to see something expand. If not the story, then at least the setting so we can have more places to run around in.

I don’t recall it being discussed. I also do not recall it ever being proven that Scarlett was from the future/future-alternative timeline. Pretty sure it was mostly unfounded speculation.

Great pic, but twilight and It’s weilder kinda gets lost in the background as does the scythe effect. If that was intentional, cool, but adding a small, simple glow effect could fix that.

These are the posts I love seeing, and is the biggest reason i stay with this game, the community. Trolls aside, there are some truly incredible people here. I’ve seen.several posts throughout the years where stories like yours happen. Someone finds their calling, their soulmate, reason to go on etc. I’m very happy for you Chaos, there are few moments in life that can equal these moments. I know it sounds like Orr, but I was actually thinking more along the lines of the current invasions. Only let the regions of the zone be occupied till liberated and held, ssort of like WvW only a bit longer on the holding. Having it be active for 2 days makes it more impactful than the current invasions, but not as permanent as Orr. Also using enemies that are indigenous to the region affected would add a bit more flavor. For example centaurs or bandits or pirates attacking the krytan areas, flame legion, ghosts or branded for charr etc. Also the fact that it would only take place once (randomly) per week/month would keep it from becoming stale content as fast as other things that have been implemented.
More like uprisings versus invasions, not linked together, no triad or alliance if convenience. Just kittened off enemy NPCs on rampage.

It would be neat to log in and see in-accessible zones, with only the zone entrances being a foothold (kinda like wvw borderlands). Maybe having players need to hold areas within the zone in order to take the zone back. Maybe have a 24-48hr timeframe to do it so that multiple timezones can participate. Even if it was a weekly thing, I think that would be pretty cool. Not exactly a 1 time event, but infrequent enough that it could retain some special-ness. Could play well with dragon champ attacks…

In all fairness to you Perilisk, you have engaged in a debate about Lyssa, with arguably her 2 biggest fans. It is an interesting thought, but just highly unlikely. Between the upcoming fractal concerning the reactor, as well as the emphasis on chaos magic throughout the game, I’m curious as to what it could be building towards. I will certainly be paying attention.
Now that I make mention of it, are there any theories out there concerning all the chaos magic wreaking havoc in the world?
