The first step to fixing a problem, is to first admit there IS a problem. I give credit for that. I truly hope their solutions come from good planning and not from this week’s episode of pokemon. I still have hope.

I know they have a media kit you can download and use. I would start there and with the ToS document they have to check specifics, but there are certainly many sites out there that make use of their imagery. My assumption, would be that as long as you are not claiming it as your original work, and are not endeavoring to profit from it, then they would not find objection to it. To be extra safe, be sure to include a line to the effect of "all images trademark and copyright NCSoft/ArenaNet. It does also advertise their product….

there should be heralds around in town that point you in the right direction.You could also try checking the living world achievement panel, it will show you a decent break down of what things to do. Love that Dulfy is there, but players shouldn’t have to go find external sources just to know what to do in game.

Yeah, I wrote mine right after the post went up, I made page 2. It’ll get buried drax, but you’ll quickly see most everyone is saying the same things.

I agree with many here that the pace is a bit much. Not only for the players, but for the developers also. It feels like the game becomes a job to get all these meta things done. I don’t mind having the achievements to pursue, but having so little time to do them sucks sometimes. And I feel that the story suffers as a result.
For the whole first year I looked at the things like Halloween, Wintersday, even the Zephers as amazing “ground work” for the years to come. But after seeing the 2nd Halloween event, arguably the MOST anticipated holiday in game, the shining example of a well done event, and almost nothing was added this year. No story really. So now I wonder what will become of the rest of these events when they come back around.
Not having a historian to retell past events has been such a huge deterrent to new players, and also veterans that may have forgotten details, or just want to reread the “story so far”.
Honestly, I feel that even having Zhaitan in the personal story was a mistake given how the company wants to develop the story. Orr should have just been an instance, or dungeon but not a permanent zone that can’t changed ever.
I certainly like the idea in a previous post about contested zones. There is an event in lornar pass where you defend a bridge if you succeed, the bridge is there to use, fail, its gone. Why not something similar to that with towns/outposts?
Also, things like “meatober fest” have been going on for more than a year…maybe change these event, or rotate them with some other events that can exist in the same area.
Scarlett, ah Scarlett. I will not rehash all the things others have said already. She is not well liked by the forum community, and for good reason. Many here would like to move away from the “Saturday morning cartoon” type stories that come with her and her childish mentality.
A big thing I would like to see, is more to do with your chosen order. As it is, there a handful of quests to do where you go from recruit to big-wig ridiculously fast. The living story would be a great way to expand that experience also. It could work as investigative quests exploring the dragons or some other threat, (priory), going undercover to overthrow some bandit organizations or w/e(whispers) or going to retake seized lands/property (vigil). I just think they are a very under utilized resource.
I love this game, to quote someone in the lore forums, “I troll because I care”. Lots here do. We all want this game to be great….for years to come, but please reduce the amount of sugar and cheese (a little is great), and give us something really compelling to drool over!

My thoughts were always more along the same opinion, just using the druids vs the tribe. I just could never think of a way for it to have occurred. They WERE in the right region of the world, large seed pods were used as a mechanic in that region. To me, it made sense, but I could come up with a way to explain it.

The flower at the top looks like the same thing that caused problems in southsun cove. The glow looks similar to that as well…

I also think a mercenary could make a great roccuring villain. Someone that is being hiredby various oorganizations due to the fact that he/she always gets the job done. It could be cases where the merc’s actions cause a number of fires that the PC needs to take care of, and though successful, the merc’s true objectives were still accomplished. We could even end up defeating whatever organization, but he/she is either already moved on or gets away to be hired again someday by someone else.
The merc’s motivation could be as simple as money, or even way more complicated, and perhaps an overarching story that we get clues about along the way. To me, that makes a far more interesting nemesis.

Everyone should realize by now, that its the skritt king pulling all the strings in this drama. That’s what Scarlett saw!!The unrivalled brilliance that is his highness! The only creature on Tyria smarter then her.

What if they simply came into possession of one of the seeds like Ronan did?

I think Gnashblade would make a good villain. He has power of his own, is possibly one of, if not THE richest NPC in game, and has a real reason to not like the players much. His influence is felt everywhere as the bltc is located most everywhere. He could make his push for domination from the shadows. Perhaps he is the one behind Scarlett….

This question has been posted many many times, never with an official response. After more than a year of constant commission threads, I think, at this point, it is safe to assume they are ‘OK’ with it.

It really sucks when all you crave is a little feedback, and either get nothing, or trolls. I can see you spent a decent amount of time thinking this up, and it does sound interesting. I wonder though, about some of your character selections. However, I am no writer, and hardly feel qualified to critique your work. I do know of a certain guild that just loves to discuss [lore] and many are writers on the side. Perhaps try there if you don’t get the feedback you’re looking for here.

I keep hoping they’ll give us a “historian” or an NPC of some kind, that will recap the story so that new players (and those like me with really bad memories) can review what’s going on. Or, at LEAST make use of the priory’s library. If nothing else, they could start a section on the website showing what has and IS going on. I enjoy the short stories, but they are buried on the official website when they should be collected. And while I have nothing in the world against Mr Potato or Ms Dulfy, I DO resent being somewhat forced to go to their sites to get information that should be available on Guildwars2.com.

Many of here have been entangled in the world of Tyria for many years. We have “grown up” with this game, it’s world, and it’s lore. This place has captured our hearts and imaginations, and held them, for a long time now. This sub-forum, as a result, is full of highly opinionated people. These people all love this world.
That said, I do feel like the storytelling is taking a backseat. It all feels very “rushed out the door”. I do not wish to argue the abilities of the writing staff at Anet, I am sure they are all very talented individuals. But even the most talented person can fall short under insane time constraints. The Personal Story wasn’t THAT bad, at first. You can tell time was spent writing and fleshing out characters and stories, only to watch it all dissolve after “Cloor Island”. No more time spent working within your order, exploring and righting wrongs throughout Tyria, no more meeting new, interesting characters (Mallyk, Tonn, Seiren, Tybalt etc) only “HURRY!! we have to stand around and watch the dragon die!!” From there everyting has felt “rushed” and “kitten”. It doesn’t feel like the lore has been “widened” only washed over and made shallow. We come here and complain among ourselves, because we KNOW Anet can do better, we’ve all SEEN it. We love this game, and its world.
Sadly, our “vocal minority” here has proven to be a bit too toxic for devs to dare come into, and I can’t blame them, I’d be put off and/or frightened too. The saddest part, is that right here, in THIS forum, are the MOST die-hard fans. These are the ones that don’t care so much about bugs, and loot (though still important). These are the people that care about the STORY, the world as a whole. Yes, the story telling has taken a real hit in the past year or so, but I still have faith, and hope that Anet will deliver to us, something compelling, something epic, something worthy of being Guild Wars 2. Personally, I think slowing down the tempo of releases is what they need to do. Take more time and really flesh out the plots, check the lore of old, and hey…maybe interact with some of the lore-masters of the forums in reference, it could only serve to help the game.

Yeah, I say retcon, because I do not for one second, believe Scarlett was made pre-launch. It’d be cool if they brought some more info out through the thaumanova fractal.

IIRC, which I may not, the steam creatures in lornar’s are there as a result of the asura personal story, “the infinity ball”. That is why its been there since launch.

@infamous, that just furthers what I was saying about having some molten alliance guys step up and become new leadership. It would lend some rationale behind why the xenophobic flame legion would even consider working with Scarlett, the dredge or anyone else. I think that would be a great way to branch the living story out, keep relevance, consistency and not really have to deal with Scarlett herself and still see the effects of her machinations.

Personally, I think they should push to crush the flame legion. I’m sure reformed flame legion could be re-incorporated though. I think they make a good enemy. It’d also be nice to see another rise up in place of Balefire, maybe a firestorm from the alliance? Just don’t want it to be another case of one being introduced and killed in the same encounter. I think it’d be far more interesting to see a revitalized flame legion post molten alliance as an ongoing big threat.
Tdrl; we need more good enemies not less.

I will say this, the Archivist’s Sanctum[lore], is a great group of awesome people and diverse personalities. Almost always a fun discussion going on, I think I’ve learned something new just about everytime we go off adventuring. I highly encourage anyone with a love of lore to check it out. Heck, they can put up with me…that makes them pretty cool in my book!

Also, I’m on TC, and we group up almost daily. Server isn’t an issue, neither is repping 100%(that’s just silly anyway) also, you can belong to up to 5 guilds.

I would really like to see the dragon’s lieutenants made more prominent parts of the story. Like Drakkar, he has a history already(even if a very limited one) but I feel they could make great compelling villains. Even if its just in a “not seen” capacity.
One example, how much cooler would the end of the PS have been if the dragon we faced there was the Lt, and not Zhaitan. It wouldn’t have felt as underwhelming, esp if the explorable paths involved fighting Zhaitan instead. We could still have learned what we do now, just in the context of using that knowledge to destroy the dragon itself. Even if you would’ve had to finish all exp paths before facing him.
That being said, I wou love to Tequatl take on a larger role story/game-wise, and the others too. I’d love to see the claw set it’s sights on HotW, and have a 3 path quest to get him to leave. Or the shatterer attacking Ebonhawk, or better yet have the minion a rank ahead of them create agents that go out ala Scarlett and attack outposts and such.

How about a battle between dagger wielders? Since they all use them different ways, one picking up a dagger used by another could then apply different techniques and use the weapon against them…

you just need some good ol’ fashioned corruption! Shards of Orr was there once upon a time (sorta) so there is definitely an underside to the grove, maybe around the taproot….

@Konig, can’t be quaggans!! They are themselves minions of the Deep Sea Quaggan…don’t let them blind you with the cuteness, they are the purest if evil!!!
Maybe instead, they’ll give us tengu finally, use the dominion of winds as the city zone, turn Caledon into their starter zone and turn the grove into a new dungeon!!!

Perhaps the founding of Ebonhawk. They talk about them being seiged by charr and a mesmer illusion being used to save them.
