I think it would be easier on people if there was at least one more waypoint further in, because even if you use the LFG tool and find a map with the boss, they definitely die before you can run over. Maybe this will ease when more people have the title, but I’m not sure.

Getting Tendoms instead of Fangs REALLY?

I think there is a pattern. With this update you can by Caithe’s Blossom for crests, and get an extractor for tendons— both the things needed for the previous episode’s luminescent armor skin.

Maybe next episode, there with be an extractor just for fangs and the currently required trinket will be sold for crests.

In fact, I think that must be how it will work, to ensure that people who come along later to get these skins actually have a chance, when the maps are emptier or less organized.

So I guess you may have to be patient, but at least it’s not hopeless reliance on the fickle gods of RNG.

From the release notes:

Bug Fixes:

The Cryptobotanist will now exchange bandit crests for Mordrem fangs when he is asking for them.

Except I just talked to him, and he didn’t say anything about fangs, so I’m not sure how that works.

It was very short, but the achievements look harder. I think there were also some new events added to SW, plus the place where you can a scorp suit like in EoTM, except with (IIRC) one additional skill. I suspect wearing one into the story is needed for one achievement, but not sure… I’m reserving judgement till I have time to check all these new bits.

Apologies if this was suggested earlier and I missed it; please make foxfire a material that can be collected. I’d suggest the same for mystic forge stones, and all of those mystic specific things. Some you can choose not to buy until ready to forge, it’s true, but the foxfire clusters take up precious space which, if you are working on Mawdrey, is already cluttered with various ingredients.

Using siege weapons to defend Indigo is one of the most fun activities for me; I think each fort could be really fun if it was organized like a Tequatl fight, with groups working on different tasks. I’ve ocassionally seen this arise spontaneously on a map, but I think it would happen a lot more if the reward for defeating all 5 champs in the breach was heftier, like it is for Tequatl.

One other reward for success should be a longer “time out” if the breach event succeeds; then we could all run around and farm and/or clear inventory, eat drink, etc.

I think it will eventually be similar to Arah in that you may have to use the lfg tool to organize a map for meta events. Unless the area that opens next week requires these metas in order to start or something. Or, the map may actually change a bit so that the forts can be held a bit more firmly. (I hope!) :-)

I can imagine a “Bloody Scarlet” drink that gives you a spicy buff, increasing condition damage and inflicting burning.

Also, red velvet bloodstone dusted cake, which reduces damage from mordrem and increases damage to them.

Maybe bloodstone rubbed steak…

The possibilities are endless!

And if there are recipes, please don’t make them account bound like the food from Drytop. I got those thinking I could send yummy and healthnful food to friends, but no…

Or alternatively, I’d love to trade bloodstone to a chef in the wastes for food that was especially helpful against mordrem.

Or both.

Getting back to slightly more concrete suggestions…

It might be fun for raids to have meta achievements alond with the basic “beating the boss (or group)” goal. I’m thinking of things similar to the metas possible in the queens guantlet or TA Aetherpath, or in WvW.

Some could be easy, some could be hard. I think that kind of thing is helpful because the easy ones keep your spitit up whil you struggle to figure out the best approach to the raid, and the kittenes give you something work on after you master the best approach.

All of these should give World Exp points and maybe some other rewards here and there.

It’s funny to read how most people don’t use food much; I love using it. I find it interesting as a chef to try and figure out the best things to make for my alts dpending on their professions, stats, and situations. For example, eggplant fritters are great for my necro when she’s in Orr farming cypress and ancient saplings; they increase magic find and condition damage.

Like others have said, I do use them more when in a tough situation. In dungeons I’ll often eat something that regenerates some amount of health every second, along with maintenance oil or shapening stones or tuning crystals, etc. But I run with magic-find enhancing food pretty much all the time unless I’m just crafting or something.

Game Updates: Traits

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Eirian Direstorm.9748

It seems quite a few agree that having unlocks depend on defeating some particular champ is not wonderful; what about if you still had to defeat a champ, but rather than a particular one, it could be any champ in area X?

I actually like the idea of some traits depending on accomplishing something, rather than just leveling, but it is also true that you can get really stuck if there’s no one around doing the one specific thing required. Maybe a range of possibilities would be better.

I know this could get clunky in terms of explaining or even just listing the range; perhaps when a player wants to get details on how to unlock, they can click a a button in the train line to “write to your trainer for advice” which would trigger you getting a letter with the details?

Certain events, like karka queen are a real pain to accomplish if you don’t land on a map where someone has organized a run; I’m not sure what range of options would be best there. But in Orr, there are champs all over the place, and several different meta events, so maybe rather than a specific one, you could choose from a bunch.

So also could say “complete the Fort Trinity episode, OR defend a castle in WvW.” —This is kind of off the top of my head, and I’m sure there might be better combinations, but you get the idea. (I hope!).

I went to charge my phantasmal residue at the skill point in the Ascalonian Aqueduct skill point and ran into the following small glitch.

I happened to also have some quartz crystals in a bag at the time, and when interacting with the place of power, it would only offer me the “charging crystals” option, even though I didn’t have 25. I had to remove them from my inventory before I could see the dialogue to make my residue “weird.”

Ideally, you would see both, I think.

If the zone tooltip had an overview of active events and you could see them from afar and their status, we might see a lot more people get what it’s about and how to do it.

Just this would help a lot. I want to do the events, and I know the basic starting times for sandstorms etc, but when I first log in, I sometimes waste a lot of time trying to see where everyone is. If the shard race is on, that’s easy, but if people are working on the roots or Tootsie, that’s not visible unless/until I run over there. —the events are so short, map chat is not so helpful.

So just having map wide event circles and boss icons would help people organize.
