You get at least 15 from doing the crystal essence collection thing too, so that’s another option.
After searching the Personal Story archive, I didn’t find an answer, so checking here:
I and some of my guild mates have all reached the very last episode, Victory or Death, which happens in a dungeon (or after completing the dungeon).
First, the Narthex WP is lately often uncontested. Can we just go there and enter, or are the meta events required in order for the personal story to start in the right place?
Second, if we all go together, would we each then enter our own story instance at the end and finish, or do we need to repeat the trip for each person?
I haven’t been through the dungeon at all yet, so apologies if the answers should be obvious.
I think we need to give this some time, and wait for people to get used to it, and let ANet make adjustments. On the one hand, it’s hard to tell when events are happening, especially if they have complex meta events to trigger them, and I am spending a lot more on WPing onto a map since I can’t see from out side anymore. (That’s probably offset by not having to pay for armor repair anymore.)
On the other hand, I’ve been able to do a lot more big events than I used to. I was spending a lot of time wandering around Orr, hoping that enough people would be around for a temple, but now there are a lot more people and I’ve done a few runs on most of them.
I think it could end up being ok.
Now if we could just get coordinated enough to do Tequatl…
For those still crashing; 2 updates ago I was having severe crashes— the login screen would just have the background image and nothing else. Then it would either quit with the “serious error” popup box, or I’d have to force quit. Nothing seemed to help— deleting various files, reinstalling, etc.
But, finally I found that I had to start the client and play before turning on Mumble, which my guild uses for voice communication.
So try turning that off, or other programs you might have running, before starting the client, and see if it helps. Having Mumble on was somehow causing a Cider error.
And yeah, the real solution would be a Mac native client…
Seeing the same problem; might be happening more when I try to open one of the panels, like inventory, hero’s panel etc.
18/3 Patch: Mac client crash every 10 min

Seeing the same thing; thanks for the heads up.
I had a similar error sometimes, and one issue was having Mumble open when I started the game. I’ve no idea why, but I had to start the game and then start Mumble. So if you have some other program up, esp Mumble, try closing it.
I found a similar workaround: after re-downloading everything, I immediately copied the client to another folder. Now every time I log out, I can’t log in again until I do the following:
1. Delete the client
2. delete the application support folder
3. delete the plist in preferences
4. empty trash
5. restart computer
6. copy the copy of the game back into the application folder
That way, I can avoid downloading all those 18 gigs again and again.
I really hope this gets fixed soon, though…
Remove achiev : Six Minutes to Knightfall
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

I think the knight battle difficulty ought to scale with the number of players just as it did for events during the escape, but maybe even more so.
For example, in WvW, if a tiny group faces a big group, it seems that armor damage and waypoint cost are eliminated to help even things out.
In a few of the knight battles I spent a pile of silver on way pointing back over and over, not to mention the armor repair costs. Those kinds of costs also discourage people from even trying, because if the achievement seems impossible, it costs you a lot of coins, and there are other achievements, like the various champs that are easier and more varied, then it’s no surprise that people abandon the knights.
Well, this sucks. It seems I have to re-download the whole idiotic thing every single time I want to play!
Which basically makes it un-playable. Luckily for me, I finished my monthly achievement before the latex patches, and finished the current LA one on the last successful log in. I guess I’m out till they fix it.
Pretty aggravated.
Polite PSA to Anet RE: server population
in Battle for Lion’s Arch - Aftermath

I think all this talk of losing “lots” of players is a bit hyperbolic. It’s not that dire. Really I think it more comes down to them having so many different things going on that the players are harder to concentrate in one place, and also that active players have started their own migration over to the more populous servers. Even still there are plenty of players around for most ingame activities, just not enough for some of these massive open world zerg battles that demand a full instance. And on top of that, they typically demand that every player in the zone be actively engaged in the zerg content, when in fact during the Knight battles there tend to be plenty of people just running around looking for Peter or collecting Heirlooms or fighting the smaller battles, so you almost never end up with the full map capacity working on the event.
I think you make a good point about people running around doing other stuff. The achievement has 15 requirements and while some are pretty easy, many are hard to do alone because there are so many hostile forces in LA now. Plus, so many are time dependent, so if you don’t have enough people to take something down fast, you’re out of luck. Or, the achievements are hard enough—kill this think without getting hit by whatever— that people likely have to try over and over to get the strategy figured out.
All of that divides the population, even if technically there should be enough people to do the knights, for example.
However, I’d be happy even with the buggy content because since the last patch, I can’t even get my log in screen to load. :P —I’ve spent about 3 hours/day for the last two days working on that, not counting having had to re-download ALL the assets yesterday, and then again today.
I think 2 weeks between the first episode and this one was probably not enough time to iron things out…
Ok, I made a little progress. I downloaded the client again, and before installing it, I trashed the old one and also trashed the whole GW2 folder in the Home\Library\Application Support folder.
Then I reinstalled, and this time after all the patchiness were done, the login screen came up properly and it started the hours long download we all know and love…
I was able to log in ok, so we’ll see if I can play after the download… fingers crossed!
I am having the same problem.
I played for a few hours after the patch and it was ok, but when I tried logging in today, the log in screen got stuck as shown above. I tried deleting the files and doing a fresh install.
The installation seemed to go normally: it did the patching files thing ok, but when it tried to launch the log in window, this error message came up:
Exception: c0000005
A serious error has occurred that prevented the application from continuing. A report has been sent to ArenaNet to help determine the cause.
I am on OSX 10.9
I hope it gets sorted soon!

I do wish there was some way to make sure members of a party can go to the same overflow; it’s hard to do things as a guild when we get spread between several OFs. (We are small.)
My partner has had the same experience, two times now. He’s playing with the Mac beta client on an 18 month old iMac. He also has the graphics set as low as possible.
The second time he ended up in an instance on the ship where he was the only player at all. So obviously that didn’t work out very well. :P (not the private instance, an overflow).
