In the description itself, it says something about if you aren’t local, you can fill it out anyway, in case they ever can use people who aren’t local, so I did. Can’t hurt.
I really want a little horde of pocket raptors like we saw in the stress test. They were super cute and really bitey. They could inflict bleeding a lot, and shriek.
I think it’s all in good fun, except maybe all should agree to let him alone so he can test the lag. It’s hard to see if you are dead!
It’s not hard to guess that one of your server machine needs a reboot or is broken.
I bet it never occurred to anyone at Anet to check this! :P
I think someone working extra on a Saturday deserves applause no matter what! Thanks!
This is not a serious bug, but it’s weird and might point to some bigger issue.
In AC path 3, when my character was turned to a ghost, a copy of his regular avatar was left standing there for a few seconds as the ghost version walked away.
I’ve also heard from a guildie about this happening to his necro when he entered death shroud.
No real impact on gameplay (that I noticed anyway), but just a heads up.
It’s a bug. If you stand out on the ice and re-log, you’ll be under the ice and can get to the water if that’s what you need.
Just a side note about the “dancing with Queen Jennah” being about the mini: the mini is part of the one-year birthday reward for each character, but they are account bound. I now have 2. So either that’s a placeholder or those are not going to be the hard to get ingredients, except insofar as requiring a character over 1 year-old.
The screenshots here show what look like three maps, but when I was in the test and looked at the map, there were also two level 80 areas to the right of the landing zone to which the test was confined. So it could be more.

The questing and collecting aspects look good to me. They seem similar to what is needed for the Mawdrey ascended back piece, which I seem to recall was a test of that process.
I really enjoyed making that one except for the time gates on plant food and charged crystals. Having these items depend on doing certain quests, mini-dungeons, etc, also ensures that there are always people doing that stuff, which I think makes most areas more fun, and less likely to be deserted and lonely.
I was in the test and spent some time studying the map at different levels, and I think the area we saw was west of the SW. There were areas marked level 80 both to the east and the west, some skill points were visible, and it might include what’s in the “Magus Falls” of the current map. It might (I hope) fill in the area south and west of the SW.
So there could a lot of new map, which I would love!
This is how the maps looked to me; what do others think? Did anyone take screen shots of the map?
(edited by Eirian Direstorm.9748)
Looking at the map, there were at least two new level 80 zones outside the demo area, and Verdant Brink itself looked quite large.

I noticed my camera was moving oddly. It was changing slightly without my moving it and resetting when I used the revenant skills.
I noticed this as well, but only for the targeted skills-the camera seemed to move higher, and I view shifted to looking a bit downward. It was kind of weird— I wondered if it was supposed to be like the ranger skill where you get bigger and your perspective changes.
There also could be checkpoints, like in the Drydock jp, that you can’t trigger with glider.

The environment looked really great, I agree., and the Living story bits were really good. I actually feel anxious about what may happen to Destiny’s Edge, and I like the idea of the biconics having to rescue them. ( I assume that’s where the story is headed).

I missed the second window completely… :P But I can’t wait to play more. Hope there is more of a Beta soon and that I can be in it!
So I have my beta revenant just sitting on my login page now, and I’m getting a little attached to her. Will it just disappear with some update soon, or will it persist in any form?

Here is less exciting, but informational shot showing the map. You can see three skill points and a couple of zones. I’ll try getting the whole map in sections next time, but I didn’t want to spend all my time on that.

One thing I noticed, is that when I jumped off the side to test gliding, it didn’t seem like there was much underneath the beta area, though it looked like there was stuff below other areas. Hopefully this is just because of it being a test.

I had a fun. The rev seems fun to play and I’ll enjoy figuring out the best skill combos etc. Someone above commented that gliding was too annoying because of having to catch updrafts. I thought so too, until I spent a mastery point on gliding basics, and then I was just sorry that the test boundaries stopped me from getting over to the cool looking areas I could see from the test zone.
I enjoyed the wvyern fight. I want a flock of pocket raptors as a ranger pet. Or a smoke scale. Both were cute new creatures and the smoke scale’s attack is neat.
I didn’t have FPS problems, or in fact any problem (which surprised me). I harvested, opened bags, dyed my armor and that kind of stuff; it all seemed to work. I should have counted my mats beforehand to see if anything I deposited went in
The resource nodes included mithril and elder wood (from palm trees, this time), and a new type of mushroom. Hoping for new recipes from that. There were also some “mystery” trophies of diff levels (blue and green) along with drops of axes and daggers etc. Didn’t have a chance to try every weapon, but I’m sure others did.
I also took a pile of screen shots, but I’ll put those in another thread.
One concern; the cut scenes played over and over when various events started; I hope that won’t be the case when this goes live!
Trying that… fingers crossed
Having the same problem :P
Also, will there be any changes to EotM or Obsidian Sanctum?
Back to questions about mechanics…. Since players in the Air Elementally themed fort can get the buff of taking no falling damage, will that change how falling/jumping might trigger the falling damage reduction mechanics, or the effects of runes like snowfall?
Similarly, how might other buff granted in other areas interact with the mechanics of runes, traits or skills? Did you need to change any of the latter because of the buffs that are available in the new borderlands?
Still broken, but the tip about standing on the ice and re-logging works, so you can at least get in.
Also, the in-game bug report system is broken—the submit button is greyed out.
I am repping one of my guild, but when I try to post in guild chat, it says I’m not in a guild.
I tried changing my status to invisible, because some of my guildies said in might help, or it might crash me. It crashed my client. When I logged back in, I got the same bug again. It was especially annoying because I had just managed to get into EB after waiting through a 30 person queue, only to be back in the queu again. :P
How many others are seeing this problem?
That was gorgeous. It makes me miss the old Lion’s Arch, and also feel sad that the Festival of the Four Winds may never return to the Labyrinthine Cliffs. I really enjoyed that one.
Like many of you, I’m collecting mats, working on crafting, and generally trying to get ready so that when the release comes, I won’t get stuck thinking “oh kitten! I’ll need a year to get/make this thing I desperately want.”
<— is so conditioned that she manually typed “kitten” instead of a profanity.
I don’t mind a little down time, knowing that a big thing is coming. It gives me time for all of the above. I’m even making a second Mawdrey, just for fun and because I’ve done a lot of the LS on more than one character, and had all the bits cluttering my bank. And compared to some of the other ascended back pieces, it seems easier, or at least less grindy.

I disagree. As a dagger wielding necro, I’ve often wished that my fear would make them run towards me rather than away. I want to draw in those ranged kittens. You might then say it is like a pull, but no, it locks their skills for a duration. I can see this condition being rather strong in certain instances.
I can imagine taunting a ranger who was weilding a bow, while having the wall up; they’d kill themselves! —I assume it locks weapon swap too.
I would love to see some recipes that use bloodstone dust and maybe dragonite and empyreal fragments too—I have tons of each. I think it would be especially ice to have some consumables made with bloodstone that target Mordrem and are salable.
For example, a potent potion of Mordrem slaying, and maybe food that increases floght endurance or is especially helpful in the HoT map in some other way.
He might be saying the Mawdrey approach is too easy. I disagree; I liked that approach a lot. There were lots of challenges to complete; some were not hard as fights go, but might require a group, or depend on a meta chain, or doing puzzles of some kind. I found that much more interesting and fun than just farming whatever to gather 250 of this or that.
TM= “trademarked” —it’s just a little joke about how they say “soon” all the time.
If we can make suggestions, then I’d like to see an aspect of adventures such that somehow you could do them as a guild in order to earn things for the guild hall or earn influence generally. But it would be something that could work for small as well as large guilds.
Also, if there are different ways of doing adventures, I’d rather see the different ways unlock and be able to choose among them, rather than just being bumped up from one to the next.
If they follow the model used for the Mawdrey backpiece (which I think was a proof of concept thing) Then you’d be able to make as many as you have characters, because each character can complete the collection.
But, that collection was tied to the living story chapters, so they may have changed how they measure completion.
Masteries on characters and skillpoints

No idea what will happen for those that don’t buy, but I’m almost certain I’ve gotten scrolls of knowledge from boss chests in EoTM now and then. Even if not, they are in ready supply in the Silverwatstes.
It seems like they are, except it sounds like as you get masteries, the way you can do the adventure may change, and it seems there is supposed to be something that makes them worth doing over—I guess kind of like meta achievements.
I think I’ll explore first with an existing level 80, so I can focus on all the other new stuff before making a new character too. And yeah, I especially want to try flying. One of the things I enjoy most is new landscapes, so I’m really looking forward to just exploring.
I’m sure Seimur Oxbone could come up with a delicious dinosaur bacon dish that involved bloodstone dust somehow! (And if you eat it, then you are guaranteed to have vertigo on your next glider flight!)
After watching the latest Ready Up...

They say that on 2/13 Anet will be releasing more info of some kind, and that on future Ready Up and POIs episodes, they will be slowly filling details about HoT.
Also, during one of the next Tournament livecasts, there will be teaser footage of Stronghold gameplay.
I’m impressed you can hold them solo.
Ok, I was being dumb… found it. :P
Keep in mind that the Tier 1 servers are pretty hard core about WvW (so maybe not friendly for new players). If that’s what you are aiming for, fine, but if not, you might want to consider a tier 2 server like Yaks Bend, Fort Aspenwood, or Drangonbrand. They are all well populated, but not quite as rabid.
I’m on FA and we are friendly.
I think LFG works well for the Silverwastes; anytime I’m in a map, once it gets to about 20%, people are happy to join. Getting to twenty isn’t too bad either. I’d say 2 people per fort can tak all the forts and that alone gets the progress bar going.
So don’t be discouraged about empty seeming maps; they can fill quick.
And Donari is right, using seige in those maps is very fun, and can make many events go much better. That’s why defending the supply bulls heading to forts is important, and building/defending siege at the vine wrath event.
I’ve completed the latest LS and want to work on achievements. Maybe I’m going blind or just being dumb, but I don’t see the button anywhere in the Story Journal tab to replay for achievements.
Am I missing something? Did something change?
Thanks!
I think saving chat in a log file would be really helpful. Info is often posted in chat that I’d like to save to review later, or I want to look at a combat log to look at what happened in some encounter, and there’s just no way to do it.
Really, a text file would be great, because then I could use some other tools to manage it.
I think you make an excellent point, Countess. I think maybe the last two could be extra (and maybe have some little bonus) and they could add one more, like protecting the Dolyak, or finding of the the big presents scattered around Tyria.
I was dumb about it and couldn’t knock him out, but still managed to brute force my way through, because even with the shields he takes damage.
—But no need to mock people who have trouble.
