I personally think it’s too soon to add another race, but I wouldn’t mind seeing a Tengue or a Kodan on the list of possible choices.

It’s never too soon, especially when it involves Tengu.

I’m looking forward to play a Tengu, and really they are all I care about for future updates. New zones, storylines, armor/weapons, Holiday events, professions, and other races will barely phase me compared to the excitement I would get from playing a tengu.

It’s not bad at solo PvE, certainly isn’t the best but it isn’t bad. The thing that is bothering people is tagging mobs in the Orr zerg due to their limited AoE and most of their low cooldown AoE is illusion based which die after the mob does. Thus making it completely unreliable in the zerg, so they cannot get money anywhere near as fast as other classes.

I just tested the build, only 1 portal open doesn’t seem to proc confusion unfortunately.

EDIT: However, it does seem to work when the portal is summoned on someone, just not when crossed.

You get hit by all the daggers that hit the curtain.

I tried it, it’s an instant kill for the mesmer. Whatever you do, do not use feedback on a thief using dagger storm!

Hello? The traits on the phantasms. You know, the ones that don’t work, the ones your little video vs a dummy don’t show. It’s becoming pretty clear you’ve never left the dummy to actually play a mesmer in real world.

I’ve used the build many times in PvP to test it, and yes unlike what you think, it does work. And very well in fact, the defense on the mesmer is through the roof with the build. Not like you would know anyways, you never tried it.

I’m excited to see more of the Tengu. It seems as if the design team deliberately left some unused lands in between Dominion of Winds and Sparkfly. There even is a blocked off road in Sparkfly that leads to an explorable that isn’t there… yet. I was able to jump on top of the geometry and have a look behind the road leading to the west. Alas, it just ends at an empty void for now.

Aw, that’s a shame, I’d love to see what the tengu city would look like.

Because of persisting image and signet of life, the phantasms can take a few beatings before going down.

Defender dies quickly, signet of life is pretty much a fail and waste of a slot, and the traits don’t actually work.

Defender lives for a fair amount of time in a fully defensive build since they take some of your stats, every bit of phantasm health counts in this build when your defense is dependent on two of them, I know for a fact all the visible traits work, my duelist does add regen which in turn grants protection, illusionist celerity also works, persisting images also appears to work, and I’m not entirely sure about illusinary defense since that is hard to test, and vengful image does grant my phantasms retaliation.

Either way, the build is incredibly durable, the mesmer barely gets scratched from heavy hitting attacks and it’s hard to die with unless caught by surprise.

I think this may be a server thing. I see many many charr females on crystal desert. It is obviously weighted male, but I rarely go far in LA without seeing someone playing a fluffy tail.

There are also a lot of female charr in Tarnished Coast, Charrs are fairly common there and the male/female ratio is about 4:3, which isn’t a huge gap.

I heard my charr say “Did you see that? Tell me you saw that” for the first time today.

The confusion is an ancient relic from before even BWE1. Before BWE2, scepter used to do a bit of damage with the clones, then that was nerfed. During BWE3, the clones spawned in melee distance.

It’s when they aren’t moving or attacking, basically afk.

That was awesome, but it would be op as hell. Speaking of powerful mesmers, Eye of Zhaitan is also an amazing mesmer.

It’s easier for me to tell the difference between a male and female charr at a glance than a human. They look much different.

Its bad for PVP and WvWvW but it does kinda help in PVE. I couldnt really find a use for the rune of the soldier as the Ranger shouts are pretty much useless for me

I use it on my guardian with a pvp survival build. Combined with high lots of regen skills and healing power, guardians can passively heal like mad. I also put it on my mesmer for the hp and defense boost since it’s also running a tanky build, and it rarely dies no matter how stupidly I play on it.

I love how people watch and fall for it anyways.

I’d have to agree, expansions such as this would take loads of work, obviously not as much as the world itself in the beginning, but still. And it would more than likely include an in-game expansion, and based on what they are seen doing, it is very likely that the tengu will be involved in the expansion dealing with Primordius, seeing as they are fighting destroyers, supposedly, on both sides of the wall.

The first expansion will involve tengu according to an interview with the devs I can’t seem to find again. I believe it was made sometime in 2010 or 2011. It sounds like they may have changed their minds however.

I noticed that some Pirate Charrs seem to have blue fur that can’t be selected in character creation either. Unless it’s just me. I can’t seem to find that shade when making a new Charr. o:

Panther is blueish, but it’s not that awesome blue color the NPCs have.

For a long time I just accepted that mesmers was associated with the color pink just because it was the color chosen for them. Well, it turns out that may not be the case and that it actually does have a reason, a very small detail. Pink is what happens when you see every color besides green and your brain tries to fill in the gap with something else. Well, I have some bad news, according to a friend that has a few dev friends tengu will not be playable anytime in the near future, if ever. They said that there are tons of bugs to fix, lots of updates for the future, but tengu being playable isn’t even planned at the moment. Why does Arena-Net hate tengu so much? T-T

I’m pretty sure all charr are taught medical care in the fahrar as a basic subject like math, reading, and fighting.

There is also a change in animation, phase retreat now has a long pink line to where you teleport to.

EDIT: From the looks of it, there is a lot of animation changes to mesmer. Mostly just particle effects and smoothing animations out though.

I’m planning on buying either the witch or the Mad King costume, but I can’t find what skills the Mad King does.

Well, I wanted some Halloween costumes, but I can tell it isn’t worth even trying now. I was willing to buy a good skin for up to $20 if they didn’t look crap on charrs too. But now A-Net gets nothing from me, which is a shame because I would support their game if the Cash shop wasn’t so RNG reliant on anything better than an hour booster.

You can walk, it’s just not bound to anything by default.

I’m 20 and this is easily the best MMORPG I’ve ever played. It’s the little things I like, for instance not getting “Out of Mana!” message for daring to press anything other than 1 and 2 on my mouse and still have to drink mana potions like a super alcoholic.

I’ve found another tengu in the personal story “Thrown off guard” named Caromi Merchant, the tengu is unfortunately not there in the main world. He is now in the tengu gallery.

Also I found out that Mad King Thorn does not like Tengu, and I will be adding that to the list. During Halloween I will try to talk to him about Tengu to see what he says/does.

You can’t farm DEs on mesmer, they are gim ped for this. Roll another character.

Technically you can, you’re just not going to be as effective as other professions.

It’s because the fists actually have to hit the target within the area, if the fists don’t hit, it’s a miss.

I counter it by making a farming character, I chose a guardian since it’s fairly enjoyable to play, with pretty good AoE.
