Judging by nature, same sex couples between the other four races are uncommon, but more common than real humans. Charr don’t often mate for life, so a typical same sex charr couple would likely just have sex, leave, find someone else, repeat, like a straight charr would.
I really don’t have any complaints about guardians other than it’s not as flashy as other caster classes. They certainly aren’t terrible even post 10/7, however, pvp and pve are two very different things. Builds that work in PvP are bound to fail in PvE and vice-versa.
Ah great, the complaints on time warp have already began before Arena-Net got a chance to nerf Moa Morph.
Mass Invis…you’re next!
I know right? I don’t even know anyone who uses it, yet since this is the mesmer forum someone will find a reason to complain about it.

Ha! A few days ago my guild was thinking the same exact thing.
I would vote Rytlock would win by default since Logan would run away.
I have a charr guardian named Riltmos, he was part of the Iron Legion until framed as a flame legion spy by his warband member, thus forced to flee the Black Citadel. As a result he has developed trust issues and tries to distance himself from people. He now works as a guard for a human noble family, with money and knowing he will beat up humans without getting into trouble as his motivation. He is normally calm and quiet, but he will start talking to the family and other workers if he is bored. Riltmos doesn’t mind too much working with humans so long as they don’t annoy him, if they do, they are usually thrown into the lake. He isn’t all calm and forgiving however, if someone pushes too many buttons too fast, he will go berserk and attempt to kill or melt their limbs off. While off duty, Riltmos will tinker with inventions in his house by the bridge in Beetletun, which helps calm him down after a long day of work, the inventions he makes are normally for house defenses and to protect the noble family.
Because they have a vibe of trying to be serious but don’t seem to realize how hilarious they really are. Also I prefer to look as different from humans as possible.
You need to find out how the compromise happened before you get the account restored or change your password.
Also, you can make a support account if you are locked out and create a ticket for the support reps to investigate.
Thanks, I found it now.
First problem which is the main problem of this mess: Someone got a hold of my password, judging from the IP, it looks like someone I know. How the person managed to get it is beyond me since I only use websites I trust on this computer, nor do I share my passwords with people.
Second problem: My account is locked, or possibly has the password changed on me so no one can log in, that includes to tickets for some odd reason, so I cannot send one. I have to ask, why do you not allow us to send ticket if we cannot log in? That’s usually why people send in tickets in the first place!
Third problem: I’m going to need to reset my password, but I never saw anything to change that. Where do I change my password after this mess is over with since I want to do it as soon as possible once I get it back.
EDIT: I tried logging in twice more and looking at my e-mail, and it appears the person who stole my account hilariously may be myself. My IP is stating the wrong town which doesn’t make much sense so to be on the safe side, I want to treat this like a stolen account.

They didn’t make the animation for charrs because it would be wasting time on an unpopular race. It’s the same reason almost every armor clips with the tail and appears stretched on them.
They had no way of knowing popularity when they were setting up animations.
Charr and asura probably get their own animations because they can’t use the generic ones made for the human-shaped races. Their skeletons are just too different.
They already use this animation on other skills, so it isn’t just unique to the Mesmer’s greatsword #1. And of course they can use the animation without stretching, they just chose not to because it would be more work for an unpopular race. You can tell they just rushed through it too because of the way the electricity stretches from the left hand to the right.

I like the change, the 5 second reduce on our gap closing blind leap finisher more than makes up the increase on the symbol for me.
I want to play a tengu! )o) No wait, make it 5!
My favorite is Tengu by far. My least is Norns, they are just giant human nordics who use animal spirits instead of gods. They aren’t even pretty, so I never even made one.
I would love a bard class so long as it is viable. It’s right up there with a void mage for my favorite concepts.
When I’m done getting the weapons and armor I want. After that, I will be mostly roleplaying except when I’m bored, then I will run around Tyria doing random events and exploring. And I don’t get bored of that as easily as grinding, I played Banjo Tooie for years after I finished it on the same account.
So many people got killed trying to rez my clone while I’m typing “The one with the arrow is the real one! :T”
I am always drawn to non-human races (the less humanoid the better) so I would like to play as a Tengu (although I don’t think heavy armor would look good on them)
Anyway, every lore thread can use pieces of dialogue: (this happens at the gate in Caledon Forest)
Hayato: Here’s an idea: let’s knock on the humongous gate door, then hide and see what they do when they open up and no one’s there.
Caromi Scout: Please don’t talk to me for the remainder of the shift.
Oh woops, I forgot to add in the tengu gallery! Thanks for reminding me.
Or in the PvP lobby “Greetings weapon bearer, how are you?” Someone should really duct tape his mouth shut.
Add me to the Tybalt list, I love that charr and his apples. <3
Playable tengu, anything else is just fluff for me.
Swap, skill number three on sword, second activation.
And for mesmers, I agree that phantasms are just a spell, but that spell is too strong or too frequently used with ease to be balanced imo.
Nope, they are no different than any other spell. They are just as hard/easy to use as any other spell in game. Actually the only phantasm that attacks directly is the berserker, the dualist and the others have a very short period after they are summoned before they start attacking. Berserker lands on the target and does his whirlwind attack.
Then the phantasms have a decent cooldown before they can attack again, during which time they just stand there.
What exacly is too strong about the different phantasm spells?
Mesmers sacrifice next to all damage to their phantasms which then dishes out 4 seconds worth of damage that other professions would normally be doing every 4 seconds. The mesmer itself on the other hand is basically all utility skills. the end result is that the phantasms are far more terrifying than the mesmer will ever hope to be and the numbers the phantasms create every four seconds scare the crap out of people in PvP. People without any plans and just rushing towards the mesmer like if it were a simple trash mob in the field will end up killing themselves.
Another issue that many people don’t realize when it comes to introducing a new playable race is where to situate them. Even if the Dominion of Winds was opened up and allowed as a playable area for the Tengu capital city, where is their starter zone? Each race currently has their own starter and secondary zones before they begin intermingling with the rest of the races of Tyria and other regions.
As the Dominion of Winds sits A. Right next to Lion’s Arch and B. Right next to Caledon Forest, there’s no room at all for a starting zone of their own, and thus they would have to borrow someone else’s, which seems a touch unfair for a new race.
And while I don’t necessarily like the idea of Tengu being playable (for whatever reason the idea just doesn’t sit right with me) I think it would be fairly easy to come up with their renegade counterparts. The trope Honor Before Reason comes to mind almost immediately. Certain Tengu may feel that working with other races is a slight on their honor, and thus attempt to remove their honorless brethren (the playable). As a result, you’d probably end up with a very feudal warlord style setup in regards to who and what you fight.
Domination of Winds is the territory the tengu own, chances are the actual city is only the island beyond the gate in Caledon forest or the area west of the Wizard’s tower. So they really have a huge area to work with.
So… what would be their evil counterpart, a la Nightmare Court/Separatist/Flame Legion/Inquest/Svanir? Maybe a resurgence of the Caromi?
I’m assuming one of the houses, North, East, West, or South will disagree with the alliance, separate and create trouble for everyone.
A discussion about Tengu and everything Tengu related!
Tengu are an avian race of Tyria that was found in both Tyria and Cantha in Guild Wars 1 who have lost their ability to fly long ago. There were five tribes of tengu, Angchu, Avicara, Caromi, Quetzal, and Sensali. The Angchu who lived on Shing Jea Island and The Roost, which are led by Soar Honerclaw, were friendly towards humans thanks to the efforts of Master Togo who created a treaty with them. Not much is known about Tengu religion other than about going to the Sky above the Sky when they die, which is likely referencing the Mists. There was also a legend about eventually finding the promised land which would finally bring humans and tengu to peace, which sounds like a reference to Domination of Winds.
In the events leading up to Guild Wars 2, the tengu have been driven out of Cantha which unsurprisingly made them weary of other races. For their own protection, they created a giant wall to gate themselves from the outside world. The tengu normally only leave for trade, but some have been sent out to take care of the destroyer problem. The destroyers are burrowing under the wall and attacking Domination of Winds, the tengu have mentioned that they are already starting to have a problem dealing with them. Tengu know about the last time the dragons awoke which hints that Tengu are a very old race, what they tell us is that this is only the beginning and that the dragons haven’t even actually started their attack yet and when that happens, they will be forced into working with other races, which hints that they will eventually be playable as well. Inside the wall the tengu are grouped up into four houses, North, East, West, and South which represents the winds.
Other fun facts:
Tengu were originally going to be a playable race, but the idea was scrapped (Cries!) after creating the lore and Domination of Winds for Guild Wars 2.
Their names seem to be based off of words for wind, birds, sky, flying, ect. The last name is two words, the second word seems to be almost always bird/air related while the first appears to describe the second. Such as Soar Honorclaw.
Lapsed tengu that were not in the DoW to begin with are not allowed inside. They also speak a different language, which is believed to be Canthan. They can also speak New Krytan however.
The model for Tengu changed from Guild Wars 1, they are now more slender and hunched back, they now have hair, and they have fangs instead of tusks.
Mad King Thorn does not like Tengu, the Priory have mentioned it was even a bad idea to mention them to him.

Discussion on Tengu.
(edited by Esorono.1039)
The time it takes to resurrect players seem completely random. One person may take two or three seconds to heal then I go to the next and spend about a minute or so doing nothing but rub the person thinking “Ugh! Just rezz already! I already missed half the event. :T” Then by the time I’m done I got a copper reward for helping another player. Please make it around ten seconds or so, so that it isn’t instant but we don’t miss the entire event because one person is a pain to resurrect.
The Tengu were supposed to be a playable race, but were dropped. Character Art Team Lead Aaron Coberly talks about it in a small paragraph on p.62 in the “Making of Guild Wars 2” book that came with the CE. He says the Tengu are a race with appeal and potential. They had planned their city to be in the center where it is still in the game.
There is also some speculation of how the Tengu might have evolved/developed since GW – Factions. (different bird species)On a personal note, the name “Tengu” always irritates me to no end. When I hear that name I think of Japanese demons with long noses that live on mountains. Quite scary and ugly, too, those demons.
I actually cried when I read this, they had the choice between tengu and instead they created an entirely new race, the race that was pure evil in GW1, and another race that looked like a large human with hair problems? I feel sick and drained now.
Divinity’s Reach in the rp server is always full, sometimes it will take me up to 30 minutes on a really busy day just to get to the main server.
Going out from the posts on reddit, I think what is being said by GM’s, is in the grey zone (they won’t give a specific answer if if’s allowed or not), for the following reasons:
The use of CM in itself, is not going to be banned, since it doesn’t play any part of the game for you, it’s just a fancy type of “tape down your right mouse button”, you still have to do every single action yourself
BUT,
They want to keep the option for banning people open, just in case the CM is ‘exploited’. e.g. Tweaks being made to CM, to let 1 button press, play the game for you, aka : botting etc
If they publicly stated the use of CM is allowed and somebody finds a way to exploit the system, they don’t have a foot to stand on, so they’re not able to ban that specific person. That’s why their answer is in the grey zone imo.
If it was NOT allowed, they would have made a statement, saying specifically that. This is just my opinion though
This does make sense, I looked at another topic about a FoV mod and they locked it and said it isn’t allowed. They never did that to CM, but they do their best to ignore a conversation about it.
EDIT: Yay! 8 pages of love for this, let’s keep it up! <3
So since this has fallen off the front page and stopped accumulating replies, it probably won’t ever get official ANet comment about implementing it without using AHK eh?
No, this thread still has life to it, and it is the most popular thread in the forums. That I know of that is.
I have a charr named Tengu. Since it is Tengu it is automatically the best.
Also I have a crow on my ranger named Mr. Chubby Beak. 10 points to whoever gets the reference.

TENGU! I love tengu a ton and I wanted to play one since Guild wars 1!
I love how I can cast and move at the same time. Also no mana! Whooooo!
…which in turn allows the greatswords to be heavier in tyria than they would realistically be in the real world.
To which the question has to be, why would you want them to be heavier? A sharper sword does more damage, not a heavier one, in most scenarios where you wouldn’t rather be using something else in the first place. A heavier sword is merely slower & more awkward to wield. Since any of the advantages you outline would also be available to the less massy versions, from a standpoint of “realism”, I can’t see the point of the argument. You can’t reduce the weight of the sword (which is a function of gravity), you can only magically reduce the mass (which, indirectly, makes it lighter). By your own argument of “heavier” (which is not completely wrong) that makes it do less damage, while still being more awkward.
Don’t get me wrong. As I’ve already said, I’m not asking for daft designs to be removed. Those that love ‘em can have ’em! But the daftness of them isn’t just about weight; it’s more about impracticality. If the designs were practical & efficient, people would have been making them. They didn’t. Have one because you think it looks cool, but don’t try to justify its existence to me!
Being sharper doesn’t really help much if the person you are fighting in in plate, crushing weapons such as a mace, or heavy ended bladed weapons such as an axe would be more effective in this case. Some weapons however are more effective being small, for example daggers. The magic would be used as an extra force, like an extra hand holding it, not reducing the mass directly. The most practical place to use this force would be near the tip and moving it with a full body arc to increase momentum and mass of the strike. But really in the end this would make a pole axe much more useful in Tyria than a greatsword would ever be.
And I know you don’t want the giant swords to be gone and just want more realistic swords. But I find talking about other worldly physics fun…Also I hate losing arguments. Mostly the latter though.
Dunno where you get the idea that Mesmers are levitating their swords. I’d class levitation as conjuration, and Mesmers obviously deal in illusion. I’d assumed they were swinging it, just like everyone else. You are, more or less, right about the weight of 2-handers. They don’t necessarily take a great deal of muscle mass to swing. Combat stamina is another matter, but again, that has nothing to do with muscle mass.
On most race’s spam attack the sword floats in midair between the hands then floats back while twirling back into the hand. With this in mind, other classes could adapt the ability to use a combination of magic and physical strength to lessen the strain on the body, which in turn allows the greatswords to be heavier in tyria than they would realistically be in the real world.
Eso – sorry, but you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. I’m a medieval martial artist; I’ve been swinging swords around for 20+ years. Along with a great deal of other weaponry, I might add!
Alright, I looked it up after this and I’ve been mistaken Zweihanders for all types of greatswords, my mistake. However, since mesmers are able to levitate the entire sword with magic alone should indicate that it isn’t all muscle strength the classes use to lift and use their weapons.
Ironically, with the way we use our greatswords the “unrealistic” ones would be far more practical than the “realistic” ones. Greatswords are a stabbing weapon, not a slashing. For one reason is because they are too light, some of the largest only weigh 9 lbs. or 4 kilograms. And two, it would break the greatsword if used like that. The larger greatswords are more top heavy and more sturdy than the more realistic ones and may actually survive the thrashing where the realistic ones would not.
I’m happy with the changes, I may now actually be able to get a ghastly shield eventually. If I can find a team that doesn’t complain about there being no tanks and healers and quit.
Cripes, now I’m really confused. I just really hope we’ll get an official version of something close to this in the near future, because this whole holding-right-click while flailing on my keyboard is really taking a toll. Just for reference, what is Gaile’s response? I kind of missed out on it.
http://www.reddit.com/r/Guildwars2/comments/10a0qk/official_response_clarifying_the_stance_on_mods/ It’s alright, here’s the link. And trust me we are all hoping too, playing too much GW2 can be dangerous to the hand.
Aw, it’s not allowed. I was on the fence about trying this, now I know I can’t. Arena-Net for all that is good, if you aren’t going to allow this make it yourself!
CMs can regurgitate ToS and EULA. But they aren’t the final arbiter (I will never understand how someone thinks a forum mod is going to ban you in the game.)
Read Gaile’s response.
Yes, but Gaile was beating around the bush, and only confirmed Texmods are allowed. And the yellow circle may be considered an advantage over players who cannot see where their GTAoE will land when right clicking. So it’s already on shaky ground, then this one flat out said it isn’t allowed.
Aw, it’s not allowed. I was on the fence about trying this, now I know I can’t. Arena-Net for all that is good, if you aren’t going to allow this make it yourself!
Still not as anti-climatic as Zhaitan.
Is it just me or does this game involve no strategy other than running back to the boss everytime you die?
Posted by: Esorono.1039
Spoiler. Without the “trinity”, and everyone being able to heal a little and damage a lot, there is no easy way to make a boss challenging because every character reacts teh same. You cant target the vulnerabilities of certain classes because all classes can help compensate. Everyone is on equal ground. Sure, there are bosses that specialize in dealing big damage, or doing a lot of CC, or condition damage, but what +80% of all mini-boss, champion, and boss fights has been is just “incredibly high health enemy that hits mediocrely hard” and all you have to is out heal his blows or just run around while you regen.
What about almost every decent single player game in existence? They never had a trinity yet they can create some interesting and difficult bosses.
I love the hammer when combined with scepter/focus or staff. It prevents melee mobs from hitting me for a while without kiting them while I focus on the ranged ones.
1) Black dye with gems
2) …?
3) Proffit
Black dye isn’t black, it’s gray.
Abyss seems a bit more brownish than a gray, but a lot of people are convinced it is black. But yes, I would like an actual black as well.
Transmutation stones.
