You should go with Fear lasts longer instead of Marks giving you life force.
tbh I much prefer having more survivability than longer fears. Soul Marks gives me a bunch of life force every rotation and skills like dark path or terror are part of it so yeah, I guess it’s up to personal preferences but most of my fears have 2 ticks already anyway.

Been necro since pre launch here, I thought I’d finally share the build I’ve been running with since before the big necro boost (with some tweaks) and probably the highest dps I’ve achieved in pvp (i.e small scale fights).

The build takes advantage of the mainstream 30/20/0/0/20 build build which max out conditions while also equipping the 2 best dps minions and giving them training of the master making them hit around 1k dmg/hit on most targets.
- My condis are not shorter nor weaker than any other condimancer.
- I have plague signet which gives me an extra stun break that also cleanses all my condis and supports the team in middle team fights (1 condi clear every 3 sec for allies around). – I can place the worm in a high up place and not worry about him being killed easily
- The worm offers me a nice escape if the fight isn’t going well
- That build has plenty of lifeforce with soulmarks, minions dying etc
- For those massive condi cleansers and ccers out there, that build also has very decent direct damage that still goes on even if you’re stunned, allowing you to pretty much be able to come on top of any fight.

solution to fix all of the “op” claims:
make spite boost power and crit dmg
make soul reaping boost life force pool and condi duration.

if you compare the burning to the engie burn, most builds that use it also have to go 30 points in power for grenadier anyway. They just put rabid gear on top and they’re fine. The necro will be similar.
It would actually be 19600 damage with 100% fear duration.
Althought he would be pretty silly to wait for 5 fears to go by before popping stability.
you can always interchange your active fears.
Lots of variety in build choices will become available, but not sure the wall could dump my spectral walk off, especially as it will now continue functioning in DS.
Smart enemies will begin to learn to fear the wall (small pun) after a few bad encounters, and many may be able to avoid it.
except if you put it behind them and fear them into it, imagine:
cast spectral wall behind ennemy:
go into death shroud: doom
spectral wall fear 1
reapers mark
spectral wall fear 2
golem knockback
spectral wall fear 3
enemy pops stability
corrupt boons -> fear
spectral wall fear 4
at 1400 dmg/fear tick that’s 9800 dmg :p
fear + torment will be fun too it seems. Since people move when they’re feared :o
if this is true, expect boosts for the other classes as well.

This was the first online esports tournament ive been in that I had very poor communication from the organisers and had no clue what was going on. We were just thrown into games without really knowing how it was going to happen, who we were supposed to be talking to and when we were playing. Also the lack of coaches and people signed up to various teams was an organisation failure. We had no distinct leader to sort out each team properly. We all just signed up to play, not to organise.
Despite the problems it was fun and i think we learnt exactly what not to do in a profession tourny. Looking forward to a future tourny once necro’s are a bit more balanced. And hopefully you guys learned a few lessons about running an online tournament.
ps. One suggestion i have for a future event is make sure each team has a leader that can manage the team and create a lineup themselves. They have to be motivated to bring a team together and sort everything out. Just asking 5 pugs to randomly form a team only works if one of those members is happy to fill that role. Its unfair on the teams that dont get a player like that as you cant guarantee any real organisational leadership.
When no one shows up on time, and the coaches cancel out at the last minute. You have to survive somehow. All the planning we did couldn’t account for the fact that multiple people did not show and the coaches could not come. I am sorry your experience wasnt’ what you hoped it would be, but it was the first EU tournament we held. I did not expect the level of no-shows, or the sheer difficulty of getting players to coach for it.

I don’t think they’re gonna go that far in boosting us
I personally was playing a build I never play usually. Also one of our player joined the game like last week. He was fighting off point a lot on the first match which is why we had to reinforce so much.
For the second match I kept the home point but tbh my build was semi tanky semi offensive which isn’t great, I wish I was full bunker for that but we couldn’t switch builds although by the end I was able to tank the assaulter pretty well.
Overall the necro team came together like 5 min AFTER we were supposed to start the match we didn’t have much time to think of builds etc and that gave what you see.
Nevertheless it was good fun to play with you guys, I’ll be back for more with my real condi build next time. Looking forward to the balance patch next week.

Yeah lol… i play LoL. Use to be really good at it too. I had an average in ranked of 14 – 2 – 10 with my main hero: Cassiopeia. Tried a few games the passed days, i even managed to get 3 – 6 – something.

You can never kill a good bunker elementalist, at best what you can do is make him go away.
You can do that in two ways, and you have to apply both of them… bunker elementalists have low damage, and rely on fire and earth to deal the real damage… dodge their fire damage, dodge the lightning charge to prevent getting into a CC lock since we don’t have stability, CC them back when they get into water to heal and cleanse all…
Never apply all bleeds at once, but rather have 7-8 bleeds on him, wait to get cleansed, then apply 7 more back…You won’t kill him… cause he will mist form + blink away… but you will make him go away. That’s the best one can hope for…
A good bunker elementalist has… hmmm… 5 condition removals ?… yeah… i think 5, and on low CDs… That + the mobility they have = no way to win… seriously, just consider them as the condition necromancer counter and focus on other classes.
That’s my take on this.
if its a group fight, a good way to get them is also to stack a ton of conditions on someone with few condition removals, then epidemic, corrupt boon, cc and focus on him, I’ve had a few in wvw that way but agreed, they can run away fast and just reset the fight which is why if you didn’t kill him by the end of the cc chain you might as well let him reset the fight (necrotic traversal helps for that)

This build stacks bleeds VERY fast. every time I dodge into him it adds 2 bleeds+regen on me, switch weapon 3 bleeds, enter DS 2 bleeds+weakness on him plus all my weap skills etc.
They have a very hard time cleansing and when I reach 8-9 bleeds I start chain ccing. if they have stability I corrupt boons, then knockback with the golem, then ds chill+fear, then staff fear. If you count with the fear also dealing dmg and all the tiny moves that add bleed they tend to have 12-13 bleeds on them during the whole cc and either die or drop to a point where its hardly recoverable for them.
another very important thing to do is to let them stack a max duration burn then just put it back on them with putrid mark or deathly swarm before the ccing, that really makes a difference. I literally stand in their breath of fire when they use it then reflect and cc.
really what makes the difference is how fast you apply bleeds. They can keep cleansing, every 2 seconds I add another 2-3 bleeds and that really adds up, then its all about timing your 5-8 seconds cc and let them burn in their own fire.

1 second of burn when boons are being removed ? IE based on 1 skill? Let’s wait and see but I doubt its an incendiary powder type of burn.

make it a dot that blocks condition removal when active except for that one condition (sort of like aegis but for your conditions). This would make enemies have to use 2 cleanses to clean all the other bleeds/poisons etc they have on them which is not op in pve but makes conditions a lot more viable in pvp.
