I’m running full ascended viper weapon/armor + dire ascended jewels with runes of aristocracy to maintain 25 mights most of the time and I am really enjoying that setup so far.

It’s a great mix of power, condi and tankiness together with decimate defences you get to something like 78% crit chance. Not the highest dps as a reaper but not far from it (and seriously much more than a lot of other professions), this is awesome for both wvw and pve.

One-on-one it doesn’t seem so strong, but when there are four or five mobs/players ticking for 3-5k condition damage each, things get crazy.

sure, when there are four or five players, it will heal way more. but then youre also dealing with 4-5 players.

I dont see how it can be ok in 1vs1 but op in 1vs5 at the same time.

Nah but in 5v5 though with extra team boons/support/heals/res you’d be hardly killable.

Plus imagine a team of condi necros all bursting and spamming epidemic, that’d be comical.

it’s just that necro is balanced over fewer hard hitting skills while mesmer is balanced around rolling punches. I think the necro trait is a bit better but seriously condi mesmer doesn’t really have to complain :p

Bump for an official Anet reply, guys, we will keep bumping this thread up until you give us your plan for the MAC client and give us a best course of action.

Please, moderators, go to your managers, get the info up to the people in charge and give us a meaningful reply, even if that reply is a wait time for a planned update of simply telling us that well, it’s the way it is and it won’t change.

Just tell us what to expect so we can make our own plans and hopefully find a way to play the game correctly because right now, the Mac community is completely crippled and leaving us in this position without any reply is the worse way of dealing with the issue.

The main issue is life force generation, other than that I win most of my 1v1’s and do ok provided I’m not focused by 3 people or more.

The total damage is higher but over more time. I use the Wanderer amulet in PVP and that’s like +25% damage or so from rabid so I imagine this is roughly the same for Viper

It has so much aoe it’s phenomenal to tag stuff in mass events / PVE, 2k power while having max condi damage, decent toughness and HP to tank jungle stuff. The ability to stack 6 burns in aoe on 3 targets and over 20 poison stacks with cpc + RS 4, 25 mights/vuln is achieved in a few seconds with chilling victory + the aoes and rs 1 spam.

If you compare Dhuumfire with Terror, the first does a lot more damage and is always available with one trait and DS AA. The second comes from where; staff, three traits, runes, DS, and 3 (?) different corruption utilities?

Fear can be found in tiny quantities all over the place and so is inefficient to build for.

On reaper Dhum is better than terror but on necro I’d argue a condi necro wastes his time using DS1 while looking at all the bleed stacks wear off.

Think of it as the condi version of the celestial cele signet with a tad bit less sustain melee but the ability to burst from range.

It destroys boon heavy classes with corrupting signets + spite + new scepter 3 then when they are loaded I just use my fears on them to prevent cleanses + spike dmg, works like a charm, I win most of my 1v1’s and a bunch of 1v2’s.

On top of that you bring some cool utilities like vamp signet (more corruption/might on top of healing), transfusion to save stomps and a bit of sustain through vamp aura. I find that spec quite balanced and competitive now that scepter can actually burst condis quite well.

I never ran deadly chill, is it any good?

Maxed out condi dmg it does 500 >50% hp and 1k <50% hp, given the fact that you can pretty much get 100% uptime on chill it’s pretty good if you put it on top of around 6 burn stack at 4k+ dps and a bunch of bleeds/poison

I’m actually going to run celestial spite/sr/reaper for a balanced defence/offence with close to death, decimate defences, dhumfire and a ton of vuln application / might stacking in PVE

That build gets over 80% crit chance with 25 stacks of vuln which is easy to achieve plus with the decent dhumfire damage I think I can output decent dps for the survivability.

Then for pvp/wvw I just swap the traits for more sustain and switch to signets for utilities and dagger/warhorn over great sword and have a fairly decent roamer build that can swap to wells if joining a zerg.

Overall I think its a fair balance of sustain / damage and hope to go by in most game modes that way.

It should be level 55 like Death Knights with its own story instance from the past, where parts is from the Mists and how you make it out from there.

While I approve of this idea, they would have less than 4 weeks for implementing this. For starters, in which area should they start? Should they design one starter area just for revenants? That would take some time. And how do you explain their life before becoming a revenant? Also, they need all the voice actors for every race and gender.

So, I pretty much think that’s not going to happen.

The main reason to bring a necro seems to be that they can hold out long enough until reinforcements arrive, but this hinges heavily on teamwork; while at the same time (unlike say a full bunker guardian) being offensive enough to aid in retaking nodes.
And thirdly they counter some of the more popular and upcoming builds to a certain degree (Burn Guardian / Cele Ele / Bleed Engineer / etc)

That’s basically all you need in a well rounded team. If you can hold 1 node on your own 1v1 and need the enemy to sacrifice at least 2 players to take you out + help in team fights + win 100% against a few meta builds that’s more than many many many builds out there.

the best vampire builds these days include parasitic contagion and epidemic together with blood magic. If you can get a bunch of bleeds on enemies you’ll get a truck load of HP.

It’s not exactly like you can spam it as many times as you want. Energy will play a big role here.

Embrance the darkness has no energy cost. Its an upkeep skill (which drains energy olny if you stay in this form), in which case if you keep casting it in/out you will stay at 100% energy. I have played in “closed beta” and tested it.

People missunderstand the concept behing Mallyx either way. Resistance is not there to tank conditions like a boss, its just there to nullify a bit of incoming damage and reduce the harm done to yourself. Any mallyx rev stacking resistance is asking to get rekt by 1 boonstrip. There will be a huge gap between noob and pro.

Condi necro is now a counter to condis in general, they’re not great at applying condis themselves (just good enough to maintain some pressure) but they can take condis from allies (unholy martyr, plague signet) and reflect them back onto the target.

The MM condi transfer could be a ton of fun too. Imagine an engi putting a burning bomb on the ground, burning the necro + 4 minions and them all attacking him back before burn runs out > 5 stacks of burning on the engi from a 1 stack field.

Two things to note. People will dodge less because of vigor nerfs and increase access to weakness due to traits or the corruption of the easiest accessible boon in game, might. While at the same time we will now generate insane amount of might, weakness and vulnerability all on our one so the weaker someone gets the stronger we get when fighting them. I.Cant.Wait

Well, IF they finally fixing the kitten AI, I agree with you. As long as the chances our minions do what they are supposed to are 50% or lower… Nope, not happening. Sadly.

Why does everyone have to exaggerate all the time on these forums. Sure it does happen frequently but the frequency is more 10% of the time, not 50%.

Take it as a horde you don’t fully control like Daenerys and her dragons. Even with the current AI it’s still more than ok and minion dps is acceptable (or else there would be no MM)

Well in that case the main gameplay is conditions and minions are treated as an extra DOT and condi transfer/lf source/poison source.

The damage between aoe condi transfers, physical minion damage, the siphon damage and the fact that you can easily get 2k+ dps with Bleeds is pretty high given the fact that you’re also constantly being healed from your attacks between perma regen, life siphons and vampire signets being cast every 30 sec.

I was theorycrafting this morning and playing around with the new traits to see how I can play my condi necro from next week and while I understand signets of suffering IS powerful I found an alternative I liked a lot more and that I think can be borderline OP (minus the escapes and the speed because heh, we’re still necros).

Basically you gear as a rabid necro for ++ crits for target the weak + on crit proc sigils.

Traits:

Curse
Plague sending – If you stack 3 or more condis on you, send them back in your next attack, nice auto condi transfer to have
Path of corruption – nice to add pressure
Lingering curse – the build relies on very long bleeds as its main source of damage, I know about condi clears etc but if you add the minions + the bleeds + the new chillbrain etc you still get stuff down and long bleeds also counter short duration resistance as they play on time rather than burst.

Death magic
Flesh of the master – good to keep minions around longer, jagged horrors are also great with the next trait
Necromantic corruption – VERY powerful trait. +25% DMG on minions is nothing to sneeze at but the really powerful part is the condi transfer part. This means you get a lot of condi clear but also that minions are the most powerful in condi spec with this trait now as the direct hits are affected by the minion’s attack while conditions are affected by your condi damage.

Another interesting thing is the AOE condi application. Imagine you have 5 minions and you hit a burning field, each minion has 3 secs of burning on them (say 2 by the time they transfer it.)

4/5 minion hit the target in the next second, that’s 4 stacks of burning on the target because they EACH push 1 stack back. Nice little burst.

Death Nova – If your minions die from the condition they also spike direct damage and stack 2-3 stacks of poison which can be quite a bit of damage with the new formulas. Not to mention 20% reuse is baseline now.

blood magic

Blood Bond – With condi spec 4 bleeds is super easy meaning every 26 seconds you a free signet of vampirism to heal you AND your minion + spike extra dots because signet of vampirism is a like leech with a 200+ dmg/hit. Think about when there is 5-6 minions hitting the target plus you auto attacking with the scepter every half second.

vampiric presence

New trait but I hope it works on Minions so they heal themselves constantly while hitting the target, allowing them to handle damaging conditions they transfer (plus it heals you and possibly your allies)

unholy martyr

Not the most powerful trait but nice condi generator for your minions to take and transfer back(plus group support) and life force generator if you need to tank a bit in death shroud. Minions death are your main lf generator so you don’t have much but that helps you stay in DS if you want to.

All of this without mentioning things like minions healing you constantly, mark of evasion for more condi pressure and minion healing, no ally bleeding out around you in downstate and almost 1/3 protection uptime with beyond the veil.

I think that can compete quite well in PVP, especially with little things like sigil of frailty now that vuln affects conditions too.

Chilling nova is actually the key factor to keeping a high chill uptime.

It’s effectively a chill only epidemic which runs 3 times every 10 seconds. A traditional ICD would actually be more effective for keeping constant chill (for example ICD 3s etc), instead of the more likely burst of AOE chill that the x3 every 10sec will do (depending on crit chance), but I’m not complaining there.

It is important to note that using nova means not taking Augory, which significantly weakens the potential strength of using the shouts.

On the flip side, running Augory significantly effects your ability to maintain AOE chill due to the lack of chilling nova, although I honestly don’t think running multiple shouts on a condi build would be worth it anyway, but we’ll see.

I only see 2 of the shouts being desirable for a condi build, and chilling nova will be really strong if it’s combo’d with chill dealing damage, not to mention the reduced damage from chilled enemies. No contest, in my opinion.

Walk, wurm and corrupt boon are so strong I just can’t see replacing them, at this point.

Think about the synergy between chill and minions too. They don’t need to run after the enemy → more dps.

I can see a curse/death/reaper condi necro with the minions transferring condis back (and dealing +25% dmg while in tank mode)

Lingering curse + sigil of ice is 40% uptime, add in Staff 3 and reaper shroud 5 and you are over 100% chill uptime, no GS needed. Add in extra chill from fears, and epidemic spreading and keeping chill up shouldn’t be an issue even if you don’t take chilling darkness.

Chilling nova with condi duration will mean 7.5s of chill aoe every 10 seconds too, so yep, even with cleanses, a condi reaper can keep enemies chilled 100% no problem.

well of darkness + Chilling Darkness will now be a potential viable condi well on top of being ultra defensive too. Plague with chilling darkness will be insane (stacking poison + blind + chill + on crit bleeds?) dhumfire potentially stacks 12+ burns on 3 targets, path of corruption is now as low kitten sec cooldown for 2 boons corrupted plus you get base 100% condi duration if you hold a scepter. If you use all these plus your transfers you should do ok as a condi necro ;o.

just got the beast, the game plays flawlessly with everything maxed out. its a bit laggy in 5k but that was expected, plus, the icons are sooooo small in that resolution it’s not recommended but with half of that in full screen the game looks amazing and is very fluid.
