I think you’re either underestimating the total population of players worldwide or you’re overestimating the players who can’t make it. Anet has the population metrics and seeing as how the time and day they chose has the most concurrent players, that means more are playing than not at that time and day. And the Community feel of thousands of players can easily be achieved despite cutting out a portion of the populace.

Nope I dont underestimate the total population nor do I overestimate those who cant make it (and for Anet saying its the best time they are only hoping cause they don’t know what people may have planned for that time or day)….. I look at how many posts have been made about this issue and how many people reply in agreement how terrible this is (and I believe this a small portion of people compared to what don’t bother to answer and just choose to leave the game because another big faceless company show they don’t care (after years of saying they care))….. Yes Anet has information on the population at any time but again it is cutting of a portion of the Community that WANT to be a part of it but can’t and its not just those who might be asleep its those who will be at work as well or spending time with family…. And I think your gonna find that Anet realise that they have made a mistake and won’t (hopefully) do something like this again…..

Actually the Hunger Games event from Beta Weekends and the Infection Event from Beta Weekends are examples of huge, one time only events that are interactive. If you didn’t take part in those, it’s hard to explain but I’m sure videos can be looked up online. Basically it can be entire Server involving without it simply being NPC interaction. Another example would be the opening of AQ.

Yes I took part in these….. But then the times they were run were good for my time zone….. But I also remember how many people were upset cause they couldn’t take part as they were not able to (and I agreed with them in posts)…… Those TBH are not the same…… Anet state on the front page of the forums “DO NOT MISS Act 3 of Shadow of the Mad King” and yet give no choice for those people who have to miss it….. The other unfortunate statement that Anet have badly worded is "At least this way, everyone has a chance to experience it in the game, without having it spoiled by the rapid availability of video on the Internet.” This is true everyone has a chance to experience it except those who have to sleep before going to work or school… Or those who have kids or those who will be leaving for work as the event starts. Again this is a case of destroying Communtity envolvement…… It doesnt matter if it is 1 million people missing out or 1 person missing out, because simply that person or those people have been EXCLUDED from the COMMUNTITY that Anet professes to be concerned about…..

I’m not denying that there are not other options.. but any other choices would logically dilute the effect of the event at best.

No, other choices would be better in the fact that now those people who can’t be part of it will just go watch it on youtube….. Which funnily enough Anet state they didn’t want people to do……

Yes but by setting a specific time only you are cutting off at large part of the “communtity” which then defeats the purpose of a “Communtity Event” because part of your player base are either at work, asleep or unavailable to take part in the “Communtity Event” which then defeats the purpose of the Event……. Doesnt it…..

As for the cutscene if its a one time action its likely not interactive other than you standing there and watching it happen so therefore a cutscene everyone can see is a better idea…..

As for being rude your right I shouldn’t be rude so I apologise……

Again I state there are plenty of idea’s that could be done instead

Good Bye Special Event, Anet hates my timezone.

Simple Fix….. A one time personal story instance that you and 4 friends can do together as stated above or a simple cutscene that shows the first time you log into Lions Arch after the update

Saturday 2pm PST / Saturday 9pm GMT / Sunday 7am AEST would of allowed everyone to enjoy the event.

Sorry No that only makes it suit your time zone……. There are people on the Western Side of Australia as well…… and people in Singapore are moving backwards from there…. So no that DOESN’T fix the problem.

Look at my post above….. 2 simple ideas that fix the problem…… choose one and it doesnt matter cause then EVERYONE gets to be a part of it…… And as for the Spoilers statement that truely is just a cop-out as Anet knows they stuffed up…..

MAN UP ANET and fix it………

In this particular case, for this particular event, Anet’s intent is for it to be Unique. That’s the design intent. Their vision for the event. Not everyone can be apart of it due to that fact. They have two choices on what to do to address that.

Either choose a time that makes it most available for the bulk of their playerbase.. or sacrifice their design intent by making it less (i.e. not) Unique. They’ve chosen the former. And whether I can and will be able to make it or not doesn’t change that they have every right to do it and have no responsibility to change it simply because I bought the game.

I’m sorry but you really are mistaken with that statement……. There are plenty of other ideas that Anet could have done.

Created a instance where the event happens….. Created a cutscene when you first go to Lions Arch after the update…..

So sorry please stop typing now…… Have a nice day…..

The event starts 3 AM here, can the devs...

Developers…… PLEASE put some kind of comment out about seeing this bug about Monthly Survivor and the permanent Survivor Title….. ALSO you need to make it that CRAFTING does not contribute to it as it is then not a survivor title…..

PLEASE show that you have read this bug report………

And honestly, I’m getting bored with the hearts now.
I’m getting the “done one, done them all” feeling.
It’s all about repetive tasks to rank up completion of the heart.
The task itself is irrevalent, they’re all the same to me.

Then it is evident that the problem lies not with the game mechanics but with you

And I’ve always laughed at the idea of GW being an mmo!
Very rarely in GW1 did I get asked for a team to follow the story.
4 Campaigns, all done with maybe 10 teams along the way.

To me, it’s a soloplayer game with online social areas.

FYI: Guild Wars 1 is NOT an MMO. ArenaNet never said it is an MMO. ArenaNet said it is a CORPG – Cooperative Online Role-Playing Game. They even repeatedly said in interviews that they do not consider and never considered GW as “MMO”.

So, yep, there’s no reason to laugh because GW is not an MMO, never was, never will.

Also, I don’t know if you can team for personal story missions.

You see, that’s the problem. You don’t know a thing about the game because you want to play a “singleplayer online role-playing game”. Then here you are complaining about not getting enough EXP to do the next part of your storyline mission.

And also, I’m wary about teaming out in the “public world” as it were.
Let’s just say I’ve had bad experiences with loot/xp leeching and unless I really trust someone, I’m not going to team with them.

And here we are again. You want to play a Singleplayer Online Role-Playing Game and the end-result is = you do not know a thing about the game, ever.

Secondly, you are locking yourself up in your own little world. Get out there! for crying-out-loud. How would you know how to play the game if you just keep to yourself and let your worries stop you? How?

Did you even know that what you are being wary of is totally non-existent in Guild Wars 2? Of course not, because you just want to play with yourself and you are letting your “this is how MMOs should be, my standard, my way” idea stop you. Don’t let it stop you!!

Loot in GW2 – we all get separate loots. There is no loot stealing in this game.
EXP leeching – we all get the same EXP, even the bonus EXP (I’ll bet you don’t know how bonux EXP works)
Kill-Stealing – KS is non-existent in this game.

Tag all the mobs you can tag, as long as you are still in range when the mob gets killed by another player, you get something from it (and probably some loot too, but you have to go back for it).

1,000 of us can kill the same mob and all of us 1,000 may get loots (I said may because getting loot is random – BUT it has nothing to do with – “he took my loot” concept).

And that is just the tip of what GW2 has to offer only if you will learn to play the game.

No offense, but your post and replies to the people helping you understand, it’s clear you don’t want to get rid of your notions and “ideal” MMO, the “this is how I envision an MMO” attitude. Either this is the game for you, or you go back to your other MMOs, or develop your own.

Again, learn to play the game. There is nothing wrong with the EXP rewards.

Well Said………….

Play the game, enjoy the game, play with people, try crafting, try exploring, IF YOU REALLY HATE the other ways of gaining EXP then this isnt the game for you, go play something else.

The Guild I am part of last night attempted to do the Guild Workshop upgrade. It was paid for and had started the countdown….. When I logged on this evening it had reset to not be upgrading and the influence gone. However it does say that it has been started in the record logs.

Guild: Time Lords Online

I’ve been playing GW2 on and off since the Headstart Weekend.

And something is starting to make me suspicious.

For some reason that doesn’t fully make sense to me, the XP gained is always 2 levels behind the story requirement.

I have played 4 seperate characters and the progression is identical on all of them.
That’s too specific to be a coincidence.

This means that somehow, half my XP is missing.
And also, if I was to follow this to it’s logical progression, I’d reach level 80 in the storyline and be level 40.
I doubt that is good.
Also, I doubt it’s possible to fight an enemy with twice your stats.

And yes, I did a fair bit of exploring on my first character, but all it does is plug the gaps here and there.
And that’s mostly because of those Heart outpost assistance things, which I assume are not repeatable.
This is not a long term solution!

I read something about other ways to gain XP, crafting, pvp, etc, but none of that interests me.
In particular, I don’t have enough resources to craft across 4 different characters!

I’m the kind of player who just wants to follow the story.
But it seems GW2 was geared specifically to work against that.

To coin a metaphor, it’s like every time the Story Train stops at Plot Point Station, I have to get off and visit Grind City.

I think the only realistic option is to wait for an expansion (like Factions preferably), play through enough of the starter storyline to get me ahead of the XP curve, then go back to the main storyline and continue on from there, returning to the expansion when and if necessary.

Can’t believe the game’s just out and it already needs an expansion.

Have you ever played another MMO? Wait sorry in another post you did say you have….. But I dont know of any MMO that gives you 100% EXP to continue the next portion of the story….. Most MMO’s leave you 50% or more away from the next level…. Forcing you to kill mobs…… And while GW’s 2 makes you grind its in a most engaging and fun fashion

Try Aion or WoW……. Aion used to take weeks to go up 5 levels (at 1 stage there it took me a month to go up 5 levels before they SLIGHTLY increased the EXP)….

You couldn’t do the storyline because you were underleveled, you couldn’t even fight the mobs in the area if there was more than one at a time….. I gain at least 2 levels everyday in GW’s 2…..

The Storyline section in GW’s2 gives you the most EXP followed by Dynamic Events and Heart Quests and Crafting…… Do the Dynamic Events you can get some reasonable level equivalent gear from it every now and then and you level nicely.

YOUR SUPPOSED to go off and look around its the point of such a BEAUTIFUL looking game…… Have some fun, help some people, enjoy the game because thats what it is a GAME……

If so have you tried not running it and seeing what happens?

To Be Honest…..

It is annoying but sometimes we humans go to far in how we want things and we want them now…… It will get fixed, it will get sorted, it will get repaired…. So please keep it nice and friendly in here……. Raging never solves the problem….. If you look at the fact that so many bugs have been fixed and quickly shows that Anet listen and want their game to be a success…….. If any of you played Aion for even a short period of time you should recognize that there are games out there that take YEARS to even come close to fixing problems and then they still can’t get basic balancing issues right….. And here is Anet choppng the list of problems down in WEEKS……. To the person who can’t get his 50 kills in WvWvW I did it and I live in Aust so my Ping is anywhere from 300 to 800…… So really I’m sure you can do it…..

I will add tho that this post does need to be bumped to make sure that the developers do see it and look into it……………

And I really have to add again, one of the main things with this title that concerns me and needs to be addressed is that it should not have crafting as a way to do the title as again it is not a crafting title it is a survivor title which means fighting…………

I had checked my monthly achievements and found that my survivor wasn’t updating, at first I thought that I must have died recently (which btw shouldn’t it specify downed or defeated? I thought there wasn’t a “death” state) so I went about my business trying very hard to do anything stupid.

Also why doesn’t /deaths show accumulated xp since death anymore? That would help me diagnose this problem.

This…….

I hadn’t been defeated at all, tho I had gone to the downedstate and my title reset…..

I think ANet need to have a serious look at this title problem and reword it if it is MEANT to reset if you go into DOWNEDSTATE, tho they must realise that NO-ONE who is after it will go into a dangerous situation to get it….. Instead all they will do is craft towards it……. which is NOT a Survivor Title…… Then it becomes a craft title……
