As long as your burst skills hit you wont be affected by the nerfs at all.
So you might want to stop spamming your bursts and trying to set them up with the 10+ CC skills a warrior has.
As long as the enemy doesnt suprise me with a well timed stunbreaker my bursts never miss.
And making a warrior never able to engage with full adren is a good thing. Hell my adren fills up faster than I can spent it already, without me using berserker stance.
What the hell, calm down guys!
The 5% damage nerf on 100b and Whirlwind attack are not going to be noticable at all in a pve party.
Maybe for those “elitists” and certainly for Solo players. As much as I respect the solo-guys, instances are not meant to be done solo and even if thats what you do you’ll manage past patch.
The other two significant changes are the adrenaline changes and the new arcing slice. Let us forget the other minor balance changes for now since they really don’t matter at all.
Taking a look at the adrenaline, only the changes that affect the decay after combat are going to be noticable, and mostly in PvE.
I have actively been counting the missing burst in a WvW environment since the patch notes came out and I may miss 1 out of 10 bursts and mostly because I screw up.
So yea, depleting adrenaline on a missed burst is only reasonable balance wise and will effect only those Warriors who got used to easy mode.
Warriors who open up a fight with Earthshaker, Evis or other burst skills are certainly doing something wrong anyway.
I still run a Sword/shield(warhorn) + Hammer build in WvW but with this patch I will for sure roll GS+Hammer as I think Its finally going to be superior! Outside of zerging of course.
The block on the Shield is useful, but so is the Rush skill. And now the GS even has a spike skill like final thrust, that mind you, hits with full damage on only 1 bar of adrenaline! Burst mastery + Earthshaker into Arcing slice anyone?!
Even the infamous GS/Sw+whatever builds are getting huge buffs now!
cross-armor class transmutation options
Why is this not like the most wanted feature right now? Everyone should scream for this to happen! Why did I not think of this. All the possibilities!
(edited by Flitzie.6082)
To answer your question. No I dont.
You should however carry a longbow in your inventory.
You should also get a warhorn. Easy access to swiftness in WvW.
Keep your inventory with the warhorn in reach somewhere at the edge of the screen. Shrink it down if you must. And just swap your shield with the warhorn if you have to cover longer distances by foot.
Hammers are very good in WvW. You’ll notice how many players seem to have never heard of stability. Stunlock ftw.
And be at ease. Sword + shield with a hammer as a secondary weapon is a great combination. Much like GS/Hammer. You’ll find plenty of builds on your own with little research.
I ran Sw+Sh / Hammer for the longest time myself now. Just yesterday I finally crafted my ascended Greatsword. Post patch the greatsword is most likely going to be better!

Sup
I just stumpled upon the Geode-add-to-wallet thread. + !
That being said, I am soon sitting on 4000 Geodes. I wanted to spent them only when we reach rank 6 for maximum efficiency.
But that has not happened in over a week and I see less people in dry top willing to increase the rank every day. Not even up to rank 5.
So yeah, this is supposed to be kind of a shoutout if anyone, a clan or group, is still organizing dry top I’d be happy to join you guys. Teamspeak or whatever you use, Ill join and help out.
I don’t want to be passively forced to buy my keys on rank 4.. thats a difference of 100 keys with my current geodes. :<
In general I am against any sort of expansion.
Lets face it:
Expansion are the reason for any major MMO death.
Name me a single MMO that did not turn to kitten after its first or second expansion.
Lineage II may be among the only ones that made it to expantion 5 or 6 until it got really bad. (I havent played GW1 but I heard the expansions were not that bad)
Its probably very hard to destroy GW2 through an expansion, because raising the level cap (Worst thing you can do in any mmo, ever, after release) wont do much harm here. The leveling is easy compared to other games.
Implementing new gear, as in higher tier being among the worst things you can do to an MMO, too. This is actually something that could happen.
I was sceptical with the introducion of acended gear, but is fine. Its not easy to get, but not really something you need to grind months for either.
I am glad the devs mentioned not to add any new tiers after that. I hope they stick to it. To be fair, somthing like ascneded gear was actually needed. Exotic gear can be bought 4 days after aquiring the game.
Now, what else could happen? New zones, bosses and dungeons ? sure thing. More pvp maps, wvw areas or features for those ? Anytime.
I wouldnt really call this a content update aka expansion though. Its just more things to do in the current state of tha game. And something like this can be easily introduced through living story. Arena net just has to introduce them more frequently. thats all.
So please be cautious with your wishes. Remind yourself that expansions in general are a bad move, gameplay wise. They are a great move to earn the company some money, true, but A-net got their own ways of keeping the cash flow up. We dont need any kind of expansion to ruin the experience for players. Especially for those that dont have much time to play.
Honestly, what finally convinced me to play this game was not the gameplay, or the no-subrciption-fee feature. Its because they promised NO expansion.
Ehh.. I was about to mention somthing similar like digiowl did.
Why not give every skillslot 2 skills to choose from ? Double the amount of skill in the game currently.
You’d have to unlock the second skill of each slot via some open world pve quests or something. Maybe just make them available by default.
Additionally you must not change the skills outside of any major city. Being able to change them the second you get OOC would be to powerful.
Honestly, when I first got told about Guild wars and its combat system from a friend I had the first impression you had to choose which skills, out of 5, to pick for each weapon. Not that there are only 5 availabe per weapon in total…
Today I’ll run a hammer warrior with skills: 1A|2A|3A|4B|5A
Tomorrow I guess I’ll try out how this works: 1A|2B|3A|4B|5B
Edit:
tl:dr – Give us more skills for each weapon, but keep the 5 skills per weapon limit.
Not only will this give us more skills in total (duh) but a whole lot of combinations. Think about that!
But in the end, its to much work for A-net, right?
(edited by Flitzie.6082)
I’ll be selling 10 of my bolt of damask if the time window is that short. I was wanting to wait with the ascended gear till the balance update anyway.
Thanks for your quick answer.
Offtopic
Do you guys usually put all crafting profession on one character or 2 per alt? Except for the swapping fee its probably irrelevant. I just cannot decide atm :P
Rox Quiver is on sale again in the shop O.O
Since when? And how long are sales usually? Man, why does it not say how long…
I have no gold atm and the exchnage rates are kittened up. 66 gems for 10 gold. wut.
Is there any place I can go to see how long this will be up?
So basically you want to play a fun but non-viable build in WvW?
Before you ask. Its a fun build, burst him or die.
Yes, its a fun build. And to how viable it is I will see myself.
Aslong as I can get 1 or 2 kills before I die I am happy with this build.
My Warrior is already running a super viable WvW spec, I can roam decently (not very good) be excellent in a small group and still almost never die in zerks. Now, I just wanna have fun for once, oneshotting people
If it turns out to be frustrating I’ll change the build.
The Thing is, I probably play way to thief/ranger like on my warrior anyway, so I am used to running. I never engage something where I am not sure to atleast have a 90% chance of winning. (zerging excluded – lol)
Also I have just about as much movement skill on the ranger as I have on my Warrior. Disengaging should not be a problem at all (on paper) on the ranger as it is not on the warrior.
I’ll do some calculations next on what Is better. The version some of you posted with 70% crit chance (with fury) with two proccing sigils or the 100% crit chance version. I just dont like chance based stuff in this game, because I tend to roll what I dont need/want, in this case a noncrit quite often :P And if I cannot rely on my crits and potentially non crit 2 times in a row I might be dead already.
I have no idea what armors you guys are talking of here, got some screenies or other pics of them?
We are talking about the armor sets of the MMO lineage II, which probably many of us have grown to love over the years of playing this game.
(They do look quite different on females and other races but human male is usually the standard and best looking I’ll show you them.)
Some sets that got mentioned in this thread in order of attachments:
-Majestic Light Armor
-Dark Crystal Light
-Doom Plate Armor
Alright. I took a look at the changes in the video now. (I admit I havent seen them before, only read about a few on the forums). Thus I was under the impression only the Signet of stone would not require the trait anymore. But kitten son, its all of the signet.
How cool is that?!
About the might stacking on the axe. I am not so sure about it.
1. Those might stacks are very very short. With might duration and zephyr you can probably sustain around 20 stacks. without not more than 9-10. On a single target maybe less.
2. you need to get very close to your enemy, might stack up – weapon swap, move back for max range and then shoot. First of all. going melee will be leathal on a glass cannon. Secondly you remove the suprise crit factor of the build and give them time to react. Last of all those might stacks are still to short to use them on another weapon effectively.
Of cousre its only what I predict. Comes down to actually testing it in the end.
Edit:
Might drop the zephyr for signet of stone then, too. Cant be bad to be immune when you are so squishy.
(edited by Flitzie.6082)
Alright. With the information you gave me I tried replicating the build:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNMQNBjODbkQlCWbYxiFuWDsHUrDgC4s52Bjgvt4iZ27B-TFCBABVcBAwS5HAPBga2fIPdDMcQAGV9nzUCGA4AY4hT4CHs+6rv+6r3wDP8wDPchAGtAA-w
There are some things you use that I dont understand.
First of all, Strength runes and might stacking in general on a ranger seems like a rather bad Idea. The Ranger has very few options of gaining Might and usually wont get might from a party either, since we are on 1500 range. I understand you use a sigil where you get 1 stack of might with every second crit. but that thing is on 1 second cooldown.
Meaning, even with 100% crit chance you’ll still be wasting a lot of potential because you attack so fast with zephyr that you wont be able to build up a considerable amount of might.
On a side note, if you have time to build up might in a fight, the enemy does not die fast enough. For bosses the might stacking is probably quite nice.
Lets talk about the armor choices. Why Assassin? whats the reasoning. I can achieve 100% crit chance (80% base) with full zerker. I dont need the additional precision from assassins gear. With all zerker I actually have a lot more Power which allows me to take a rune that does not have any power in it but 7% extra damage and some nice addtional crit damage. This leads me to much higher crits than what you posted.
Why the Axe? I understand its potential in pve and maybe, only maybe in a zerk post patch. Generally I’d prefer the sword though. Has some great base damage on AA and you can leap 1200 units aways from your enemy. Best to do that in stealth too!
Now we all know, damage scales best with passive multipliers. This is why I maybe still consider running the Signet of the Beastmaster trait post patch. Sure we’ll miss out on 10 attack speed. But we run zephyr anyway.
As a bonus we gain 25% more damge for 6 seconds! and 50% more damage on your opening strike! Add that to the 2x 10% from traits, + 5% from minor trait, + 5% (vulnerabitlity on Opening strike) +7% rune.
You’ll be hitting like a truck. atleast 6k+ on your opening strike and then an estimated constant 4 to 4,5k crits. On low armor targets or upleveled players you might hit for over 9k.
Combine that with a stealth suprise attack (Jaguar stealth) and zephyr. Holy cow!
Thoughts?
my version so far:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fNMQNBjYDbkQlSWLYxiFuWDsHUrDgCICYPwjQI4aLuYpkeA-TFCBABQt/AHHBgKV/5MlgYp8DgHCQe6GY4CAEA4A43fT4CHc+5nf+5n3vDP8wDPchAGtAA-w
Raven pet optional. Also might want to take Signet of stone, not sure what to exchange it with.
Reminder: Its a fun build. I understand that you die within seconds if you get caught and miss the chance to stealth leap away.
Edit: Oh. the hydromancy sigil on my sword is easy to explain. Since the sword is your escape weapon why not slow the enemies at the same time. Provides you with a bit more room.
Question: Does the 50% movement speed from the sigil of the Wild stack with other movement speed buffs? Will you go faster than standard swiftness speed?
(edited by Flitzie.6082)
Cheers. I appreciate you took the time to write this.
To my calculations (they might be way off) the damage should be a lot higher.
can you please post your full build?
Hope thats not to much to ask for.
Thanks again!
Why does noone talk about it?
I am new to ranger, currently leveling one.
My only other character and thus main is a warrior. He is in charge of dungeon running and zerg-clashing. (Two different builds obv)
Having said that, with my ranger I plan on doing mostly wvw soloing and general open world pve stuff. Orr-train for example. Everything that doesnt have a DD spot
I am die hard Archer-fan. Usually I play archer in every game first and most. I refused to play one up till now because of all the ranger hate.
Back to my inital question, I obviously want to play with a Longbow.
On paper I love how the auto attack works. More range -> more damage. Also the highest range in the game. There MUST be a way to abuse this, I thought.
What about full zerker ranger? They seem viable no? Many people go full zerker, melee, frost spirit etc in dungeons it seems. It makes sense. Somewhere I read the damage is almost the same as a warrior in zerker gear.
What would happen If I slap a longbow on a full zerker ranger for WvW. Fully buffed and with all possible passive %increase I should be hitting for a constant 4k on maximum range or am I wrong?
Why have I not seen a single ranger bursting down people like this yet. I have been facing many rangers with my soldiers warrior. None of them were a threat. Why?
Conclusion: I want to play a glasbow high crit ranger. Bursting down people in 3-4 hits in no more than a second.
If I fail at bursting him down, stealth – 1800 units escape in the opposite direction. Try again. If I fail at escaping – I die.
If I get suprised attacked – I die.
Especially with the upcomming buff to longbows I am especially pumped to see this in action. There are very few videos available who show that damage output. Two videos only I believe. Hitting non-upleveled(!) for 5-8k crits with insane attack speed.
Those videos however are old, so I question their viability.
Before you ask. Its a fun build, burst him or die.
Does anyone play something like that?
Id like to talk about it and be enlightened
(edited by Flitzie.6082)
Awesome Awesome! Great looking ranger.
Now I just need a build that focuses on heavy auto attack crits to give it a similar feel like the hawkeye/sagittarius
I’ll probably create a new topic soon, already have something in mind.
The avadon set caught me by suprise. I did not expect that! Great attempt though.
A little offtopic:
My warrior runs in Imperial crusader. Sadly I cannot replicate the blue hue of the original armor so I went with red to fit the weapons. A proper shield is also a problem, thus i’ll stick with the current. As a sword I’d like to get the infite light someday. Its the best looking sword in the game to me and its similar to the Dark legion edge <3
Well, atleast the ascended bow looks soooomewhat like the soul bow. Better actually, if I think about it.
Hah! So I got you hooked on building a maj light set too?
Show me the final results when its done!
Btw, guess what I tried to replicate on my warrior.
kitten, I’ve played to much of that game in my life to just simply let go of those awesome armor skins that L2 has.
Well, thanks Duke. I am not sure if this is a relieve to hear or some kind of foreshadowing to what will happen to me.
Oh btw, don’t use that shoulder piece I posted earlier. Tried it last night and it clips like mad on the face when you fire your bow. That’s kind of disappointing…
Thanks for letting me know! There probably would not have been a chance for me to get it anyway. Seems like there is no way to aquire it right now.
Haha. Lions arch has really poor enviromental light, true.
I mean, look at those clouds. No wonder.
After playing my male ranger for a while I have mixed feelings. In the beginning it was awesome. Now I tend to think more and more that I really dont want to play another human male.
Lead me to play my norn again. Both are closing to level 20 now.
I REALLY hope this wont continue up to lvl 80 ;_;
To some it may seem irrelevant but this is probably the worst case of “I cant decide” in all my MMO history.
But thats the price you pay for having millions of customization options (which is awesome) and then there is one option for the base of all and that is permanent (race)…
No way.
I cant deal with this.
My norn is now lvl 18. Everytime I enter a city I feel out of place and I doubt I’ll want to play this character.
Its a shame really, I cant agree with any of the female options in the game.
I’ll start another human male…
But, hey. Ill save myself a whopping 100 gold because I dont have to buy that gem store set. Yay for more gold
<3 Majestic Light
Indeed, me too.
I gave the human female another try at the wardrobe. Its not too bad. But those walking animations with or without her wielding her bow are nothing for me.
The norn female is walking a lot cuter and more rhythmical. Am I the only one looking out for those things?
I guess I’ll stick with my norn, despite her height. I’ll lose the option to swap gender in case I want a male because I hate norn males but I have to live with this now.
As much as I love this game and its cosmetic features. Some of them are really, really frustrating to me… ugh.
Nothing will change, I know that. Noone will probably hear us, I accept that.
Yet, I still feel like venting a bit. Maybe some of you had the same troubles and can give me an idea on how to deal with it.
My first character was a male human warrior. I love him. I want to make a Ranger next.
Outfits and the overall look of a character are very important to me.
I have some serious problems with the Ranger now though.
I felt like playing a female this time around.
Everything that does not look like a human is out of question, that would include every race and gender except human male/female and norn female.
Human female:
The longbow animations are stupid when she is walking with a drawn longbow. Its like a windmill on broken axis. Holy kitten I couldnt stand it!
Besides that all female models have spaghetti arms… :c
Norn female:
Good animations, no more broken windmill. Great bodies.
But I feel like a giant even on the smallest height.
Alright I though, lets roll another human male! Yay! – Not.
There isnt a single acceptable human male medium armor outfit for an archer. For a typical ranger, yes. You know those forest guys with long coats and kitten. All cool.
But not for an archer in war. There are 3 or 4 chestpieces that have no coat! What?!
The only other class where I could see a long coat fitting is probably for an engineer.
A thief especially wouldnt want to wear any coat at all… thats just impairing the flexibility. T3 Human armor, stop. I am a figher, not a prostitute.
Where are all the plated leather outfits? The tight body suits? the layering looks of different cloth (without coats).
Example: http://i89.servimg.com/u/f89/14/49/84/08/ml10.jpg
Human male is out of question. There was one outfit that I could live with, but I dont feel like leveling another human male anyway.
That is what I came up with in the end. I still feel like my norn lady is way to large…
Help ;_;
Edit: I’ll iron my hands if this is the wrong subforum. But there really is none for outfits, is there?
Interesting discussion. But I believe you are overthinking it.
The problem atm is, that defensive stats dont matter. They may let you take a hit or two more, but you do siginificantly less damage.
Of course, improving AI and making fights more interesting by introducing more mobs-skills/moves is always a good thing, but this wont happen. Lets face it. Its too much work.
The solution could be a lot simpler. Increase player damage/defense scaling, lower both base attack and defense. Also increase defence effectiveness overall.
You wont do much more damage than you do now with full zerker, but take a much larger beating due to the naturally lower base defense. Your attack stays the same due to lower base attack but better scaling.
Now if you go defensive, you’d deal significantly less damage but can take 10 times the beating you can now with full defense gear.
Basically running full zerker remains with same damage output as it is now but it would be atleast 3 times more risky, you’d even risk getting oneshotted by a few attacks.
Going 100% defensive you’d be able to face tank an average dungeon elite for a good 30 seconds without dropping under 80% HP. It takes you 3 times as long to kill a mob compared to your zerker friend though.
It would certainly open things up for more build diverstiy and maybe even other weaponsets.
In example Warrior mace+shield for extra blocks but with full zerker gear to deal decent damage.

@Juba
I am guessing its going to be something similar to what you currently run in your videos ? GS/Sw+Sh ?
I am eagerly awaiting a presentation of your build. I have my doubts it will be this super easy though.
(edited by Flitzie.6082)
Personally, I’ll be happy that I can’t use Eviscerate as a travel aid anymore.
depends…
has it been confirmed that you loose all adrenaline the second you activate the skill or at the moment it ends? Because if the second is the case we can still use earthshaker, evis etc for movement.
Edit:
I sure hope we can cancel bursts without loosing adren. 50% of my earthshakers are attempts to catch up to my enemies. If they have the awareness to dodge it in time I’d like to be able to cancel my ES aswell without loosing adren. Otherwise it’d be kittened.
(edited by Flitzie.6082)
Hm. I can understand your frustration.
The funny thing is, while I was reading the OP I kept thinking “Why does miku care so much about PvE and bosses und dungeos being fixed”. Like pve would be any fun to play.
Mind I’ve been playing this game for 5 or 6 weeks now I and I am horribly bored of PvE already. I am wondering how you could endure this for so much longer. But I do understand your concern.
Pvp holds no interest to me either, its a playground like you stated.
I do however love, love, love the casual approach in this game. Back in the day where I had loads of time after school I would have maybe thought differently.
WvW is probably what brought me to GW and what makes me stick around.
Back when I played 8+ hours of AION a day and still could not get ahead and was being steamrolled by one guy with 1 tier higher equip. I hated those times soooo much. Because all I ever wanted was a somewhat balanced open world pvp where I dont have to grind for ages. I can do all I ever wanted in WvW here, and it even has some epic large fights, even thought i think the zerging is too much atm.
Anyway for you being a pve player I can fully sympthazise with you. The current state of PvE is a fail in the long run. Sad to see another player loosing its home, again.
We have all been there.
Played LineageII for 3 years back then – got patched to death.
Aion for 1 year – got patched to death.
Even though I did not play it that much, WoW suffered from the same and many other MMOS, yet their designers/developers dont learn much from it and keep ruining their own games. OH well.
Edit:
>“with the fact that Google has now bought out Twitch”
You gotta be kittening kidding me, they bought twitch aswell now?
Let me guess, everyone will just accept it and carry on using all their services. wake up…
(edited by Flitzie.6082)
I guess a lot of WvW people will drop the dolyak signet for the signet of stamina now.
Rework your gear somehow that you get an increase of 200armor and use stamina signet for cleansing and an additonal dodge. Alongside with the awesome new GS burst this might open things up for a more dynamic play.
If Signet of Rage would generate adrenaline outside of combat now all the changes would be justifed, but as it stands right now conditions are going to be hell.
They already are hard to deal with.I mean, having 50% higher adrenaline regenration with this signet is a nice addition to the overall nerf on paper. But in a practical scenario you would want to use it for its boons so the passive is useless…
Get Adrenaline outside of combat?
I … I ……… are ….
I can’t coment this, is too badI assume with bad you mean broken, sure it would be powerful. Maybe make it generate at a thrid of its incombat generation. But post patch those 2 adrenaline master traits will be very inaffective for pve. Even in WvW you’ll most likely never engage with full adrenaline like it is almost always the case right now.
Also it would make up with the loss of adrenaline when you fail your burst skills. And you usually always miss atleast 1 burst in every fight on average. With the out of combat generation it would make up for that with a free hit.
He’s saying that it’s pointless because adrenaline drops at an incredibly high rate out of combat, so having signet of rage work outside of combat does nothing.
Well, obviously it wouldnt decay with the SoR Passive on… I thought that was obvious. Why would I bringt it up otherwise

Burst Mastery is going to be a must have now. In WvW and PvP that is.
Yet, you should also use Brawlers Recovery because of the condition cleansing nerf that comes with it.
We have a problem here. If we could you both at the same time I would care less.
But as it is right now. Holy kitten, playing a warrior in WvW is going to be harder. Glad those pesky thiefes got nerfed too.
Why should you main a warrior?
Speed, lots of CC, mobility and decent defense stats!
And on top of that, great weapon variety.
If you like swords, fear not.
Greatsword is the weapon of choice in almost all pve content for dps.
Even the One-hand sword has its uses, mostly in WvW though. Great mobility and dem crits. 9k instant damage
The warrior is for fast-paced action.
The guardian is more of a “hold your ground” type or support.
it’s gone!
I’ll start saving materials now to be among the first to craft my draconic armor for my horse!
Btw, has anyone experience inaccuracy with the gw2skills.net editor?
My ingame stats are a bit lower or higher one some stats. I know about the wvw bonus, thats not it.
I found the error.
The toughness from the dolyak signet is being added to power in the build editor, but it is not in game. (If the trait is selected)
Results in having 25~less power ingame.
Oh well.
Also, improvement:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJAQJARSjMdUFaXIOewJigfgC9t3C7gpAQZak7pOCA-TlCEABRcEAWUlinUitlSwmUeoo6KScJAaTXAAPAgY2fIAACwO3Z6cnBWv6Vv6Vv65oDdn38m3sMALLA-w
- 1% crit chance
+ 9% crit damage
when calculating power+ferocity we previously had 5600~damage now its 5900~ which is actually as much as full berserker. (They have 20% more crit chance though.)
- 100 armor (Only around 1,5% less damage reduction as before)
Stun sigil exchanged for leeching atm.
Don’t even ask my why I do this. The numbers-game is half of the game for me in every mmo.
As always, any suggestion greatly appreciated.
You might be right. I could not see any difference in the stun duration on a few test I just did. I’ll look this up later to be able to confirm it.
Edit:
All right, seems to cap out at 2seconds. Ill use another sigil. maybe leeching.
Any other suggestion. Was not able to improve the build beyond the mentioned yet.
Btw, has anyone experience inaccuracy with the gw2skills.net editor?

(edited by Flitzie.6082)
Alright guys. I went through all of what you suggested and here I am now:
It is aimed towards roaming/small group fights.
I was still able to maintain the best stat balance with the gear I had chosen before but the traits and a few other minor things have changed.
Now, those two points in “strength” can be swapped for burst mastery if you feel you need it. I tried it a lot and I think the 7% extra damage is not worth it and I have more adrenalin than I can spend anyway.
Also you could swap it for quick breathing if you run with a zerg and take a sword/horn combination.
If you like Furious reaction you might want to take that aswell. For now I’ll stay with great fortitude since it provides me with almost 2200 HP.
Besides the greatsword I still carry around a sword and shield with me. With a Battle and Intelligence Sigil for guaranteed crits.
To do:
Because of the super low crit chance I was thinking of going for intelligence sigil on all weapons but I feel it is a waste. Having Might on both is adding up to high numbers of Might stacks for awesome damage.
Another thing I could do is swap some pieces for knights. Ill loose a lot of other stats though, which I dont like that much. Maybe you have a suggestion for me.
35% crit chance seems really low to me. In the Current acended version you’ll need full precision infusion to even hit 35% (With bufffood!) Thats expensive!
In addition I am now questioning the stun duration sigil. It was usuful before to set up those 100% crit final thursts but we now have the intelligence sigil for that. Maybe I’ll swap that for intelligence now, too? Or Sigil of fire? (I dont like the cooldown on it)
Questiontime:
Burst mastery trait: Will I be getting the full effect of it on only 2 bars of adrenalin now, or will I still have to get all 3 bars filled and only spent 2?
It was dificult to test and observe the stun duration but for what I have seen you still need to fill all adrenaline bars and if this is the case I do not understand why this trait is loved that much ? :S
I guess that is it for now. Thanks.

Quick question to you guys.
If I do not run “Unsuspecting Foe” and use a GS/Hammer combination, how high should the crit chance be at a minimum? How high is average/recomended and what is considered amazing?
Without fury buff of course.
edit: For WvW of course
(edited by Flitzie.6082)
Holy crap, I had forgotten you do not get the crit chance bonus when signet have been used and are on cooldown. Thanks for reminding me! This changes alot of course.
I understand the importance of traits now, and trait damage scaling.
I’ll try all of those suggestion you guys gave me and report back with an updated version.
I am wondering why no-one commented on the gear though. I have no problem in buying/crafting a few exotic gear sets to try things out.
What are other warrior running in wvw? Is Soldiers a good choice?
Thanks for the replies. I should have mentioned to swap traits before you head into pve dungeons. I thought thats obvious. I had no idea however, those percentages are multiplicative, thats pretty intense.
About Cleansing Ire:
I’ve been reading a lot about it, even Threads in this forum and I thought we came to the conclusion that its not reliable and you are better off with sigil of stamina (I do swap skills a lot between combat).
Getting those burst-shots to land is not always guaranteed because of telegraphing animations, no ?
About Great fortitude:
Is it a waste of time because the bonus is to weak? Should I rather get the offensive version?
About Merciless Hammer:
This is actually why I forced myself to get 50% crit chance. This is the entire Idea on what this build is based on.
Earthshaker -> swap -> thrust/100b. 100% crit chance.
And it works like a charm in almost every fight.
I believe it is one of those things superior to most builds, no?
I do not understand why it is bad, rather -> what is better?
That is also the reason because of the sigil of impact. I could have gone with sigil of fire or something but honeslty, I only swap for the high damage skill, maybe shieldstun and swap back to hammer.
>Whats this build? Its not good for zerging/guild fights, not good for roaming
with weapons/trait adjustments its viable in all of them with an effectiveness of maybe 80-90% comapred to builds built specifically for a single situation. And honestly that is the sole reason of this thread.
With min-maxing I was talking about the Gear. Gear, especially in acended is usually a one time investment for most players as they wont have 3 different ascended gear sets for a single character. (I know they are accound bound)
And I could not achieve better overall stats with other gear for any of those playstyles in WvW
(edited by Flitzie.6082)
You rly should not use one armor set for both PvE and WvW though
Gotcha. I just changed the title to WvW only then.
I do a daily fractal run or two with friends, thats about the extend of PvE I will do anyway.
I still believe its vialbe for PvE since the only thing you’ll really be missing out in comparison to the zerker is a bit of crit damage. Or is there some kind of magic I have not understood yet? I am just comparing stats in the build editor for the moment.
Running full zerker in WvW seems to be a bad decision imo, though. I rarely see WvW builds in zerker gear anyway.

DPS=/=DMG
I have expected such replies.
But instead of just guessing numbers out of random assumptions I’ve actually run multiple test on that.
On my current setup 100b hits for 12-13k damage in 3 1/2 seconds.
That is 3700 damage a second.
Final thrust hits for 8k in 3/4 seconds.
The actual Damage per second is higher on final thrust.
Even if 100b hits for 25k and above.
Of course that is only correct when the enemy is below 50% health which is doable with the hammer. in PvE 100b is of course better.
Edit:
Ooohh, I know where you guys are comming from. Its the cooldowns right?
The thing is most players are dead after 1 or at max 2 hundred blades/thrusts.
In PvE 100b remains the strongest, but I already stated that…
If I am still wrong, then please enlighten me I started this game ~2 weeks ago

Hi,
I am currently in the process of finalizing my Warrior Build and I would like you to take a loot at it. Also, I love min-maxing and looking behind mechanics in mmos.
Bear with me, this is going to be a longer post.
Without further ado, here we go:
Its a Warrior built for WvW primarly. A quick weapon swap makes it a viable for PvE due to the almost Zerker-warrior stats it has.
Exotic Version (current):
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJAQNAseSjMdUFaZIOewJigfgC7tvDmCgjjwFoLNA-T1CCABCp0b4HAQNq/cgpPAOEAOoEUjTAQVKDKRfACHBgc2fIAACA7MQGAmJA-w
Acended Version:

I encourage you to look at the stats.
Please put the bloodlust stacks to full and the might stacks at a value of 10, since this build runs with 8-11 mightstacks on average.
I am still fairly new to the game, but after comparing warrior builds for over 2 weeks I havent seen a single one with stats comparing to this.
Of course some might have more offense or defence but not without hurting other stats significantly.
Currently running around with:
3000 Attack
3000 Armor
24.000 HP
200% Crit damage (almost)
-56% Condition Duration (Without dogged march)
50% Crit chance by default
70% with fury.
100% when the enemy is stunned. (Notice we run stun duration)
These stats are overall so beautiful and well rounded a lot of Weapon sets are viable. (Trait switch optional)
The weapons:
In both build version posted I run Sword/Shield and Hammer.
I carry around with me a zerker Greatsword with the same sigils the Sw/Sh has.
Sw/sh – Hammer -> Zerg or organized group fights:
Having a Shield in a group fight is golden. In Zerks it saved my life a million times blocking 20+ Attacks in 3 seconds looks and feels amazing.
Flurry cought a lot of people trying to escape a zerg allowing my group to focus them down.
Dont forget about Final thrust. This skill is seriously underrated. With this spec I crit people with 8-9k damage. Most seem to forget that this is a higher DPS than the beloved hundred blades. (100b cast time is long as kitten compared to a single stab)
Mobility of the sword is obvious, such is the hammer in WvW. No need to explain those.
I just want to highlight that the sword can indeed be a powerful weapon in a power spec.
Greatsword – Hammer -> Roaming or small group fights:
The Greatsword/Hammer setup is nothing new, everyone knows its powerful combination.
Greatsword – Sw/Sh -> PvE content:
Greatsword is mandatory for PvE. You cannot go withouth those high numbers. and the sword as our second weapon gives us the most mobility possible to jump around areas quickly.
The Skills:
Healing signet and Signet of Rage are pretty much the only viable options for those slots imo.
Currently I am still running the Dolyak signet to reach the 3k armor and the 50% crit chance with the trait “Deep Strike”.
I’d really like to change that to an offensive skill like bulls charge but the 50% crit chance is a must since it give us a 100% crit on earthshaker, shield stun, 100b and final thrust!
Traits:
“Armored Attack” can be swapped for the 4th point in dicipline. Either for “Mobile Strikes” or “DotE”
Zerker Gear:
I do not get the appeal of running full zerker Gear. Please feel free and swap all gear in one of those two builds for Zerker pieces. You’d only gain 10%~ crit chance which is unneeded. We dont need more than 50%. and you’d get crit damage up to 210%, but Loose almost 3k Health and 300 armor. Thats not worth it at all.
General Question: How important is it to hit 210%+ crit damage ? Does it scale well? How do people get 25k 100b damage with only around 10might stacks?!
If its the crit damage I might opt to sacrifice a bit of vitality for it.
To Do and Other Information:
I hope you get a general Idea of this build by now.
If possible (and this is where you might help me, too) I’d like to push the HP into the 25k and the crit damage over 200% without loosing other stats. This would give the build almost 27-28~k HP with the fortitude buff in WvW. That’d be kittening insane compared with the Zerker like stats.
I am hoping to get a lot of feedback and encourage anyone to improve this build.
If you change something, please explain why you did it and dont forget to not go under 50% crit chance + unsuspecting foe. Its what makes this build so strong and a sword thrust viable. (We all want a vialbe sword/board build since forever, no?)
PS:
In the future I’d like to push the final thrust damage to 10k. Anyone got a spec where they achieved this without intense might stacking and only selfbuffs? Please share it with us and I’ll try to integrate it into my current build.
Thank you for your time.
