By the gods, what am I supposed to do?!

The description says: “Find and rescue all survivors in the Concordia Incident”

Alright, so I trigger the caravan thingy inside the cave and then try to slay the mordrem guys on those 3 spots where the guards are and try to keep them alive until the timer ends.
Now, at some point I finish off one area turn around and head towards the next Just to find out that the guy I just rescued is now dead on the ground when I return.
How am I supposed to do that?

Bringing friends did not help, there are just more spots to cover.
I read a few times its bugged (?) :<

Edit: 5 failed tries now. Sometimes I just turn the camera 360 to double check the location and … dead. :C

balance stance should be a stance

I dont get it. Why?
Both Stance traits work with Balanced Stance.

The only advantage would be that the stability could not be countered with boon steal anymore. Then again who actually runs that anyway.

In its current form its actually superior because the duration does not only increase with sure footed but also boon duration in general.

Hey there
I felt its about time that I look for a second ascended berserker accessory.
Due to my ‘not so great server’ I was only able to buy 3 during the tournament.
Spending 40 laurels for it is no option whatsoever.

Are there any guilds offering public (or private) guild events that I could tag along with until I got 12 of those commendations? Its not exactly easy to find someone ingame so I might as well ask in the forums.

I am open for everything and will of course join your TS or whatever you guys use. Just send me a PM.
If its any important, I am on EU. Am I even able to guest to NAservers? Not at home to check that atm. I am also capable of german btw.

You’d help me a lot!

Disclaimer: The following post is only for entertaining purposes and is not meant to insult anyone.

I mean, come one, of course I still enjoy this class.
Rather, do we even have a choice?

- The ever so loved great combat archer class was falsely labeled ‘Treehugger’ in this game. More so, they have to deal with a kittened pet bound to their legs.
- Stealth really is not an option either. Classes based around stealth are only something for the cool kids: The 6th grade Assassins creed fanboys for example.
- Then again, lets not forget that magic itself is only something for the weak.

So, do we really have an option as to play something else than warrior? Hm.

:D
Jokes aside, Warrior is awesome still. Less effecitve than ever but for those who like the profession as a whole I see no reason why not to play warrior.

Saw the fix earlier. Thanks.
Still – Its about time to implement a system against the passive inflation now. (Pic related)
Because at this rate this wont end well. I am already spending a lot less gold on gems than before.

I understand that higher gold to gem ratios will probably net Anet more money because many people will opt to real money transactions.
I wont – The higher the ratio the less likely I will ever buy gems from money.
A system like this is tricky.

Oh behold, Flitzies pessimistic views again.
You can be sure that, comes time, comes p2w at some point. And then having a very high gold-gem ratio is even more beneficial for the company because now people will be passively forced to buy gems from real money.

Its the nature of current MMOs. At some point most of them go F2P, or in our case straight P2W, if they are not going to well. Its no wizardry that even guild wars 2 will see a declining player base and at some point will be forced to take this step.
This does not even relate to the lack of content atm. Its just the fast nature of this genre these days.
The sad part again is that Anet most likely has ony limited control over that.

Please dont hate me for this because I certainly dont think of Anet as a bad company. Infact Gw2 is probably the best MMO currently around and they do a great job, sometimes questionable but good. I dont blame anyone.
Just a heads up.

Tips for making gold? (New Player)

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Flitzie.6082

Flitzie.6082

Well, welcome to Gw2!
You might have already seen that this game has a bit of a different approach to many things that have been the same among MMOs for many years.
Take for example the leveling system: Every level required the same amount of Exp (I love it!)

That being said, making gold is not really done the traditional way either. Like you would assume, farming mobs, grinding areas and selling loot. Not even doing events for gold is worth it. (An anti-farm mechanism ‘Diminishing Returns’, prevents you from doing just that. (I hate it!)

1. Now, one solid way of getting gold is doing dungeons for example. After every successful dungeon you get around 1.5g for completing it.
A very difficult high level dungeon called ‘Arah’ rewards you with a little more gold, around 4-5 If I am not mistaken.
Now add in the loot that you might sell, you can very casually (with a bit of luck) make around 2.5g per dungeon run on average. (Give you dont have much Magic find as of yet)

2. Another very popular way of earning a little extra is to participate in Orr-Champion-runs. If you enter the map ‘Cursed shore lvl80’ You might notice a commander tag on the map. Its a bunch of people going from one champion mob to another.
The goal is to collect champion-bags from them which have a great loot table with lots of vluable stuff to sell on the TP.

3. Oh the Infamous Trading post junkies. Another way of getting gold.
Play the TP, flip items. Especially expensive ones. High risk, High reward.
Takes a bit of time to get into and is usually not recommended for a new player. Given you dont have much gold to gamble to begin with. (You should certainly get into that once you are a bit of familiar with the system though.)

4. Currently you can make some easy starting cash by doing runs in the halloween labyrinth and selling ‘trick and treat’ bags on the Trading post. Or, for a long time investment I recommend to keep them. They’ll go up in value again.

In the end, what can I say. You’ll be making a lot of side earnings by just selling loot that you stumble upon on your journey. T6 materials are highly valuable for example.
Just make sure to sell everything on the TP.

Once you got a good chunk of Magic find going. Around 150 + 70 from boost you can look into T6 material farming. Its currently the best way to earn gold imo. Doing a good 10g per 30minutes. Make sure to not stay/farm for to long because of diminishing returns.

Edit: Yeah, jackaljag is right. In a really good group, a full dungeon run is probably your best bet for reliable gold. Then again, I dont like dungeons… or having to rely on a group for so long. To each his own

Barely dmg in PVP?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Flitzie.6082

Flitzie.6082

OH please let this be the beginning of: “Pvp amulets are too confusing for new players!”
I really wish PvP would be done with your regualr PvE gear.
No not your gear but PvE gear in general.
Just let us choose every piece of armor, rune, infusion, sigil and trinket that we currently have in the other two gamemodes.
Those amulets are not cutting it and often just result in a weaker version of your PvE/WvW build. Lets not forget the lack of customization…

Then I may actually step foot into PvP. (Probably not, its still a cage fight…)

Edit:
Jokes aside, the first time I stepped into PvP I had no idea there are amulets myself. NEVER would I have thought this game mode uses a different build system with different items, I just assumed everything gets carried over.

laurels ?

in Players Helping Players

Posted by: Flitzie.6082

Flitzie.6082

Tl:dr: Keep them, you’ll need them

yeah, I’d never ever spent laurels on crafting bags or anything thats a cosmetic.

Laurels are way to valuable and you need around 40-50 alone to craft ascended gear (including 2-4 weapons), another 25 for only ONE amulet. And then all those infusion you are looking at another 60-80 for a full set.

Thats one set of gear, maybe you want a second or third for you main. Oh, dont forget your alts, so much laurels! :s
I am sitting on hundreds of gold and crafting materials but I just cannot make use of those because I dont have the laurels to start this whole thing.
Currently I am eagerly awaiting the next monthly achievements again. I need those 10 laurels to start my next ascended armor set.
These bad boys are slowing me down BIG time.

Now, if you’d be around since release you probably have enough but then you most likely would not have aksed how to make gold from those, … I guess.

But, if you really must: Heavy crafting bags is the way to go.

Edit: Funny people are asking for ways to waste them, while I am thinking about opening a thread about laurels and how much they slow me down on a daily basis. To each his own.

No more white swords

in WvW

Posted by: Flitzie.6082

Flitzie.6082

Meh, what a bad change.
This sword-icon is an important indicator for less populated servers or just non-prime times in general.
I am playing on a EU server that is usually around rank 20, we often have scouts for pretty much anything during prime times or at the beginning of a new week, but thats about it. The rest of the week we have to rely on those icons.
I usually am taking the role of a defensive scout roamer, lol. When there is nothing in reach for me to solo or we just generally dont have any stationary scouts I heavily rely on those swords to check out if its just another troll attacking the walls and scouts or something a bit more serious and then alert the commander.
This has been tremendously important for us.

White swords must stay!

ugh. that video is pretty old and the enemies he fights are kind of .. unexperienced I guess.
I dont want the OP to have false expectations about the thief. I am not saying thief is not good anymore but it certainly does not look like in the video all the time.
Of course, thiefs are still good for roaming mainly because of stealth.
Stealth-ressing/stomping is sooo annoying!

I do believe a dd ele is in a bettet spot at the moment. Really strong, much to learn from and a lot of fun. And annoying to fight <.< lol
Also has some great mobility and sustain, whats not to love.

That being said, looking at both of them from a roaming warrior perspective (which I roam the most with) I can say that most thiefes these days are a matter of 10 seconds with success on my end. Only rarely do I encouter one that is a real pain in the kitten .
Elementalists however are increasingly showing up and being a worthy enemy with close fights.

Well, well. Will you look at that. Axe+Shield is amazing and beyond.
I am currently running this, which just happens to be what I had lying around:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJAQNAR3ejMdU2ZXImhwJaAmgCdnPBfwx0OAU+EfOA-T1CEABRcBAWUlCGOCAPp0YLlgScQAaSZmiqr0muBAeAAxs/QAAEgbezAwQH6QH6QHa38mDdo7cnlBgZBA-w

Its far from optimal but I am 10 times better than I was on my Hammer build.
I’ve been roaming with this setup for 5 days now. I rarely loose a duel, maybe 1 in 10 and then mostly because of heavy condis I fail to deal with. Even outnumbered fights are easier to manage than on my hammer (?) Thats weird but I like it.

Fighting double thief/mesmer or 1 of both at a time is really hard for me at the moment, but I guess that okay. Stealth-rezzing without AOE stun on your end is OP

Now I am still looking on going a lot more glassy (less health) once I’ve got my zerker gear running but I’ll probably stick to the high armor. Its incredibly important to me I figured.
Killahmayne described it pretty well (Thanks!), I dont really wanna play the hit and run warrior, I am a warrior after all. And I feel I quite often get flanked by rangers which is troublesome once your active defense is gone and you sit there with 2400 armor :s

For now I am planing on getting myself something like this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJAQNAR3ejMdU2ZXImhwJaAmgCdnPBfwx0OAU+EFBA-T1SEABYfQAg4CA4kSDAeAAIquzSKz4SJIb6GYUlAHOCAws/QAAEgbezsZbGM0hO0hO0h2O35QH6NvZZAYWAA-w

Still on the highly desired amor and of course heavy on precision.
I understand my Evis is not going to hit that hard BUT I’ve run test in PvE and with 90% cirt chance and 2300 attack I deal a lot more consistant damage than with 2700 attack and 50% crit chance for example.
I much rather have heavy consitant damage than having to rely on a single burst that might miss.
Also dat might gain on GS… holy flying llama. Love it. Easily boosts you to 3k attack again.

Edit:
OH btw, I’ve been trying to swap out axe for sword and pick frenzy instead of bulls rush. Its not bad but I often fail final thrust or fail to cancel flurry and then I get nervous and spaghetti all over the place and I loose. lol
Gotta practice with this a bit more…

thief woes

Flitzie.6082

Well well. Judging by your other post and this thread I assume you are still relatively new to the game.

1. WvW is something you should visit again once you are level 80. Upleveled players are usually freekills for anyone who is max level for example. The lack of stats, traits, gear and general game knowledge is significant and renders you pretty much defenseless.
What you probably heard about is another part of WvW which is EoTM. (Edge of the Mists)
Just follow your commander and stay with the group. You’ll gain levels much quicker than in PvE and usually you dont even have to deal with enemy players since its more of a Pve Farm-train going on in there.

2. Normal PvE leveling should not feel slow at all.
Infact, comparing it to other games its one of the quickest leveling experiences I’ve ever had. You can casually reach max level withing 2 weeks and if you’ve got some more time on your hands it can be done in under 3-4 days.

If you are just wanting to level up quickly, exploring new areas and heart quests are the easiest way of doing so. Especially exploring areas of much higher levels.

That being said, I suggest to not rush, take it easy and enjoy the game in your first or second quest to level 80. There is much to be seen.

3. As for what gear and weapons you should wear is totally up to you. But I would not worry about it that much until level 80.
Consider your quest to max level more of a tutorial where you have the time to explore your weapons, combinations and other mechanics of the class.

'Content you normally see in an expansion'?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Flitzie.6082

Flitzie.6082

Well you might be right. It might just be the bad experience I have with MMO expansions.
But so far every MMO was ruined for me and my guild or all my mates with game-breaking expansions. It never really was the lack of content.

Of coures at some point you’ll always have seen it all and you only log in occasionally or play a little bit on the weekends but its still better than not playing at all imo.
I play MMOs for escapism. Sometimes casually, sometimes really hardcore or not at all for a few weeks. It depends on how much time I have. But at some point MMOs feel like ‘home’ and so far everytime I really began to grew onto a game that gamebreaking content update was release and it threw me off entirely.
I dont want that to happen again already.

And recent events like NPE (which honestly is not as bad as it sounded when it was introduced) and now the gemstore update are game-changing updates to an extend where the game drifts away from its original concept.
The gemstore update really made me think for the first time to drop the game for a while or even for good. Something like this should not happen. I am glad they’ll reintroduce the custom option. Although they still have to do something against the passive inflation…

It made me realize how things can change in the blink of a moment.
I now have this natural fear again the game might change to much for me to enjoy it anymore.

'Content you normally see in an expansion'?

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Flitzie.6082

Flitzie.6082

Another day another expansion thread.
At some point I feel I should voice my own opinion on this.
(Note: I have not played GW1 for reasons I still dont understand, I kind of never had it on my radar. I have no experience with the Expansions of GW1 and what they did to the game)

- I am against any kind of expansion.
- I do Not want to see an expansion in the traditional way where lots of new stuff is being added to the game in one big step.
- I want Anet to continue like they did so far with the occasional living story updates and maybe a little content by the side like we had with fractals.

The reasoning is rather simple:
To this date I’ve seen many MMOs die out in the course of 1 or 2 major expansions or updates. ‘To die out’ does not neccessarily mean that noone like to play the game anymore overnight.

While a big loss of players is of course part of the problem most of the time is that those expansion drive the game away from its original concept, style, visuals, feeling etc. so drastically that all the magic is lost instantly and you feel the game you originally bought is no longer there. Which, in return, leads to loss of player acitivity and many dropping the game.

Of course new players might eventually buy and step into the game, the community changes with this aswell and nothing will be the same anymore.

Now, of course we could assume Anet finds a way to not break the mentioned and keeping the game going like we know it. Its of course possible considering the game is really unique in its core mechanics already and the major cuplrits like ‘Increased level cap’, ‘new gear tiers’ or ‘unfitting new areas’ are not really an issue in GW2 that we probably ever have to deal with.
Increasing the level cap would have absolutely no effect whatsoever, new gear tiers were confirmed to never be implemented after ascended and new areas would be based on the original guild wars so there is no real issue. Thats good

What else could happen? A new class? A new weapon? Well, that does not sound to bad, eh? How could that potentionally ruin the game or drive it away from its original concept? It certainly did for LineageII (Kamael update) and Aion (Aethertech or Gunslinger classes) just to name a few.

Still, are you willing to take that risk? After all, dont we all fear change? Isn’t that what makes us human?
I for sure dont want to take the risk because its to real.

Think about it, I would not be here if the last MMO would have not been patched to death, or the 10 MMOs prior to that.

Edit: I do agree however: A new pvp map, a more difficult dungeon and the like would not hurt. But does this really classify as an ‘expansion’?

Flitzie.6082

Well, I am not going to repeat what has been said 100 times in this thread.
But I felt like voicing my opinion because this is an important matter.

I am usually fine with many changes that Anet makes and I can understand a lot of the changes they’ve made as I have had a little inside into the MMO business world myself a few years back.
But once you talk money, things are getting serious.

The current changes to the shop are an outrage. Its a straight punch in the face for every customer. It needs to be reverted immediatly because changes like these are usually putting the company (and the game) in a bad light and a hint for worse to come until a game has been milked to death.

Sadly the worst part of it all is that Anet itself is probably defenseless since this is a change comming from NCsoft. Even Anet has to make a certain profit/year and if they fail to achieve the goal they were given changes like these happen.

Games have become a serious business and are all about profit, even GW2. The times where games have been made for the gamer and with him in mind are long gone.

Let’s be honest, Anet did not even announce or mention it anywhere which lead me to think its probably nothing they are proud of either.

But, There is hope!
Because quite frankly what many people seem to forget is that whatever changes they bring, by the end of the day they are depended on us, our money and loyality to the game.
The simple and only solution available right now is to boycot the current system until it is being reverted. Because if the current system fails to improve Anet income its likely to get changed, believe me on that.

Note: I am currently thinking of creating a topic with this in mind (in greater detail) because this post is probably getting lost in the flood anyway.

I am silently tuning my numbers and shuffling gear in the build editor and I have a question.
Are you guys really comfortable with 2600-2700 armor? (+100 less in combat because of that minor trait.) My current GS/Hammer build is running 2700 incombat armor and I am often melting so I was looking at getting atleast 2900-3000 this time around.

By my own research the difference between 2600 to 3000 armor is around 11% damage mitigation. Is this really worth it in the end? Or in other words, worth the loss of 100 power and 10% crit damage for example.

Please Bring Back 2012 Halloween Skins

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: Flitzie.6082

Flitzie.6082

This is just another example of cash-grab.
That being said there is NO way for a hardcore player that is able to sit at home for the entire 2 weeks let a lone for a casual player to obtain any of these skins.

When systems like this raffle appear only a very few very dedicated groups will be able to have a chance at getting one of those 1000 skins.
There are shared accounts being played atm that have absolutely NO downtime. Shift-work, one player leaves the next logs in and keeps farming.

Now add in the fact that you can also get those shiny wrappers from real money purchases (in a non-f2p MMO I might add) and there is no way to ever get one of those skins.
Except maybe if you pay 1000$ of dollars. And there are players that dedicated, always.

That being said, if you are an average player and interested in making a profit out of this event then there are other methods, dont fall for this obvious money sink trap.
If you are interested in one of those skins the best bet is to just save your gold and buy it some time later this year off the TP.
Currently its possible to make around 20gold per hour. A lot more if you consider all possible ways of gaining profit out of this years event.

Edit:
Of course there is a slight chance to win if you only submit 1 ticket. But lets be honest, its like playing the lottery. No “realistic” chance.

I was just wanting to post that because there are certainly some casual players buying TnT bags for 100’s of gold now. Going complete broke with no realistic chance because whatever the quanitity of tickets they will get its not going to be enough.

Please dont consider this final. I am just throwing numbers in the generator right now.
Here is one with 90% crit chance with fury of course.

Edit: you might not land 100b everytime but even with whirlwind and just general attacks getting 1 might with every hit on a 80-90% chance. Why not.

You are right, reckless dodge is something I’ll miss in a build like this.

I think the hardest thing for me to decide on is where crit chance and power should meet. You can only have on of those two maxed (Max being ~3000power or 90% crit chance) or find a middle ground. 50-70% crit chance with 2500 power something.
Ultimatley this is going to give your build either a really high burst if setup right or continous steady mid-high damage.

Edit2: OH btw, I dont really understand why you say its mathematically impossible to reach 90% crit chance with fury if I can easily get 100% without fury.
No that this would by any means be a serious build
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJAQNAR3ejMdU2ZXI+dwJaAmgCZnPBHT7AQ9TUEDBA-TlSEABYfQAg4CAUz+DOp0AgHAAiq/olSwlUmxmuBHOCABAQAu5NzmtZwQH6QH6QHa7cnDdo7cnFCY0CA-w

Well counters are a picky topic.
In a perfect world every professions should have equal chances against every other profession. Not build, profession. And to an extend that is the case.
People often seem to confuse profession or class with builds when they QQ against their counter on the forums.

To be fair, many professions dont really have a lot of options or build diversity. So yeah.
Lack of build diversity is the culprit.

Well I tried a couple of condi setups now.
Its pretty kittening amazing. Both with or without confusion. 1v1 is hillarious.
Most enemies are not even able to get me below 90% health. Dat regen.
Soloing camps is crazy 3-4 guards on me – no HP loss at all.

Burning ticks really hard, bleeding is kinda meh though.
All in all its a really strong setup.
Plottwist
I am not going to run in, infact I already sold all of the gear again after I tried every option available.
Killing someone is doable but not very fast. 1vX is even more troublesome.
A major issue is people escaping and you being a sitting duck. You got plenty of immob. and a few gap closers but its not nearly enough to catch up to a good warrior, thief or ele.
Well, this makes escpaing not really easier either.
And everything in a group is sub-optimal.

Given the fact that you rarely catch someone alone in WvW these days and most people are in 5+ groups a condition warrior is really nothing for me.
Hell, I cant even pressure someone with heavy cc, damage spikes or anything which results in no control over the fight. And locking someone down is crucial in group fights.

Usually warrior are second best in controlling a fight after thiefs but certainly not with condiweapons. I cant make it work.

I am going to work towards a zerker armor now. Lets see if the axe/shield+GS meta works better for me than my GS/hammer build.

They can remove LB #4 if they want. I don’t care and I don’t use it anyway.
The only viable way to make LB zerker work against somehwat decent players is as a sneaky sniper in WvW where the enemy does not see you comming.

Thats the only way this build should be played and in such a scenario you dont want to point blank shot anyway, its slows your killing speed down. Rather use it at point blank (duh) together with stealth and 1800unit leaps in the opposite direction to gain distance.

Anyway, I guess it helps against all those casuals dying to rapid fire in Spvp, so thats good. Still, has no real effect to the purpose of this build in WvW

Forum crashed the second I tried to submit my post…awesome

I just wanted to say that I am sorry if it looked like bragging. I thought the smilie would make sure it would not look like it

The reason I play the warrior like this atm is because I play in a group where I act as bait and the CC-tank that can keep some people busy while still doing 6-7k hammer crits. Ideal to pressure someone while 2 zerker rangers scissor-flank with insane damage unable to get focused.
It portraits something I’ve mentioned in another thread. There are many viable options to be effective and a great build diverstiy when it comes to WvW. Thats what I like about it.

It still works solo, as mentioned, but its far from optimal beyond 1v1 situation. Its hard to kill people fast enough sometimes.
In 1v1 usually only guardians and basilisk venom thieves are a problem. Sometimes a good engineer gives me a headache aswell.

I am going to try out a full zerker set soon, maybe I’ll like it a lot! Who knows. As of now I eat zerker builds for breakfast but that has probably mostly to do with the lack of stability or dodging on their part.

snip

Thanks a lot. I’ve been looking at that for a couple of hours now and tried to reconstruct what has happnened to the warrior profession so far.
Its really kinda kittened, I had no idea.

You know, I am pretty heavy on WvW and I only do PvE very casually in order to buy me stuff for WvW. I am still hitting those 30k 100b so I did not really worry about things that much.
But yea, the Korga times speak for themselves.

If Anet would have just developed the game in a traditional way, where classes actually have a role or a character, the current state of the warrior as a tank/dps hybrid would be pretty nice and fair. I would never see the a warrior or guardian do as much damage as an elementalist or ranger. Thats just not how it should be!
Though, considering the fact that they try to make every class able to do everything (which i find pretty stupid btw) its quite sad seeing the warrior so far behind.

Also, its hard to compare your korga times to an elementalist for example. They just bug him into the wall and are able to keep dps’ing the entire time while you actually have dps-downtimes because of dodging him or chasing him.

Well well, in the end it is pretty clear why the only game mode I still play is WvW. The classes are balanced around WvW the most if you’d ask me.
PvE Is only about DPS and who does the most. There is no soul in it, no balance, no real character. Its all the same.

PvP is broken beyond the horizon. Its all about stationary fights, capturing points and all maps kind of look the same in terms of gameplay. Thus it allows for meta-play. Every game that allows for meta-play within an environment where lots of customization is possible and encouraged is poorly designed and not ready for launch.
Whats even the point in having options if they are inferior AND there is no way to make them shine in even one aspect of a gamemode.

Now, WvW where no meta exists imo. Of course people are trying to enforce it with this GS/Axe+shield thing for roaming warrios for example. Its a decent build sure. But GS/Hammer whether tanky or dps orientated, condition bunker or full mobility builds work just as well because you can actually avoid combat! And avoiding combat is still one of the best defense a warrior has and is typcial for a warrior.
But thats not it, there is more beyond roaming. Organized group play, zerging, speed-capping, flanking groups etc. Incredible build diversity for every class and most work quite well if played effectively.

Now tell me the classes are not balanced around that… Most classes actually go back to their roots in WvW where they fullfill their role like it should be. A tank, a healer its all possible and required.
Some are going to tell me that Its my fault for buying the game because it was clear they would not follow the traditional route. In return they promised us another trinity, Damage, support and crowd control. Outside of WvW I dont see any of this.

Sorry for the textwall and lots of offtopic. Maybe it was interesting for some people.

Tl:dr – I am still having fun with this game because of WvW.
I could write a book with me comparing this game to the traditional MMO or even culturally different ones like the asian games and telling you why I think this game is wasted potential, and I will do so in a spereate topic someday eventaully. But does anyone actually care?

This is a big thing. I strongly recommend that.
You’ll level up so fast in this game that playing 2 classes for the first few levels is no problem.
Eventually you’ll end up playing them both.
Don’t look at it like at your average WoW character. You are going to reach max level in 1 or 2 weeks.

Hey miku. Do you have any new charts or dps-meters post patch? I mean, I’ve got no choice but to believe you because I simply dont care about PvE and have no clue about it, but the worst damage of all classes aside from necro is hard to believe for me.

Its a build stricly built for our wvw 5 man group. Thus wvw buffs are going to play a major role. It also works really great solo.

In a zerg this build is actually pretty bad because of low armor and I dont even like zerging.

Considering I play on a low tier server and people will never learn to use stability or dodge they are going to get rekt in a single hammer rotation. I don’t think I lack any damage at all. Its more about staying alive and doing your objectives rather than doing those horribly annyoing 1on1 encounters and trying to insta-gib the oponent with a single eviscerate.

I am getting told way to often to move along because they do 1on1s…. kitten that.

I realize going for shouts/warhorn would solve this issue, dont even bring this up again.

Edit: 2 less in defense and 2 more in disciline. Warriors sprint is too good and I need Adren on weapon swap. Engange with banner and dropping it midfight is already 5 adren.

You know what kind of weapons are good with celestial?

sword/sword is plenty viable, making it a pure direct damage weapon won’t make it any better in spvp. In wvw I guess it would be good.

^^this

It won’t make it any better in WvW either and by removing all conditions from the sword you have greatly reduce our build diversity. Further enforcing the meta by limiting the number of possible viable builds.

Obviously you’d make another weapon set more condition focused then to even it out. Why must something like this always be mentioned…
Kind of swap the role of the GS with the one of the sword for example.

now please dont start throwing unfitting traits into the discussion etc.. Its just a though for f. sake. I just think a dual wield sword setup as THE power build would have lot more stylepoints. Whatever

Flitzie.6082

Well, I gotta agree at some point.
Its a pity the sword is a condi weapon and its even more saddening that that a dual wield sword setup is not the current physical dps meta.

Sword #1:
Get rid of bleed, increase damage.

Sword#2 and 3:
Leave as is.

Sword #4:
Name: 100 Blades (how creative)
Slashes enemy 10 times (1s) x3500damage

Sword #5:
Name: Sonic Blade
Unleash a sonic wave emitting from your swords.
Range: 600, 1200 Damage.

Other than that. I can agree I dont like meta builds, and a game should not allow for meta builds to exist. Sadly PvP and PvE are all about meta game because they are always the same!

WvW still has the greatest build diversity and I am going to say it again, even though i’ll get hated for this, the classes are balances around WvW, imo.

Phyisical utilities (traited) bullsrush, kick and stomp – death from above – full zerker – axe/mace and mace/shield. The chain-CC straight to death pleases me immensely xD You can do sick combos like mace 5 -> mace 4 -> axe 2 -> kick -> bullsrush -> mace burst -> stomp -> shield 4 -> eviscerate -> GG. Thats how i have fun as warrior

Lol, I gotta try this one someday – for science!

I highly question shout healing gets me as much HP/s as something built for regen.
And the warhorn for cleansing conditions is probably an overkill aswell, we have a longbow for that.

Edit:
Going shouthealing requires me to take atleast 2 shouts to make it effecitve.
Therein lies the problem. As I somehow still wish to go for confusion I need physical interrupt skills and I’d like to run a stance aswell. Then there is only one slot left for a shout.

Alright here we go:
If I were to go for full apothecary gear and shout healing with traited shouts they can heal for around 2700 on a 20 second cooldown.

Given I use 2 shouts on cooldown its going to be 270HP/s + 85 from pie + 432 Signet = 787HP/s.

Now I go full dire with Banner healing. A simple banner heals us for 543HP/s in 3-3/4 seconds. Thats ~145HP/s

145 + 85 pie + 382 signet = 611HP/s

Banner healing is not that effecitve as shout healing true.
But there is more to consider.
- A banner only takes up one slot, freeing one up for endure pain.
- A banner can give us almost off combat perma swiftness aswell. (Only a few seconds downtime ever so often)
- Full Apothecary has around 6-8kHP less than Dire gear. Thats a kitten ton of HP.
- Dire gear provides us with a lot more Condi-damage aswell.
- You probably wont use all shouts on cooldown anyway, makeing the shouts less effective as they are currently stated above.

The only negaitve aspect is that banners narrow it down to stationary fights. Even though we are talking WvW I can say for myself that most of the fighty of my GS/Hammer warrior are usually within range of a traited banner anyway. Even if not, the enemy has to eat through 35k HP and 3700 Armor.. WTF

http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJAQNAseTjMdU2ZjHGgwJagkgC9onBz9pAIdMU3FBA-T1SAABeqSAIHCAFeAAKqHIHNBAcCAsUJY17Pgq6OccEAGT5HZAMXDA-w
First base of a build, now we got a filled canvas to work with.
- The armor is probably overkill.
- 2k condi damage with SoR
- Poison to counter enemy healing.
- Stability is a must have at some point and we can also get away with rush and leap quite easily.

- 1800 confusion damage on average. ~300 retaliation damage. Punishing the enemy for just over 2000 for hitting me.

Edit2:
Not having fast Hands is something I’ll be suffering from I guess… Its the main reason I cant really play other classes anymore atm

Yeah, by now I think its in a good spot myself. PvE it easily hits for 7-8k. WvW I’ve made it go up to 6k so far. The fury is great, actually really needed in my build. Considering that it hits 5 targets, pretty nice.

I just hate the sloppy animation again, the preview was much more awesome.
Imagine the damage it might be able to dish out if it remained 100% bonus damage.
Above 10k for sure.

Most people don’t realise that Arcing Slice to a <50% foe does ~the same damage as Rush (if that would ever hit anything).

I am not dead set on anything yet
I just reached a point where I think I’ve seen and played all the great power builds on a warrior and I want to explore other things a bit more.
Of course I am aware something like this would be a roaming spec or for a small group at best.

Now, I’ve been looking at confusion rather as an addition to the other conditions instead of the being the only source of damage.

I am also aiming for a very tanky spec:
~30k HP, 3.3k armor, 1k HP regen/s
- 2k condition damage.
- Bleed, confusion, poison, burning and retaliation damage.

Not quite sure how I am going to achieve this yet, we’ll see.

And yea, sword/shield longbow would be my preferred setup anyway.

Sup everyone.
I was not playing at the time perplexity runes were OP and I dont even know what the nerfs to that were. (Gonna look that up in a second) In some old videos that I’ve stumbled across in the past some builds could, by the looks of it, reach up to 3-4k confusion damage. Lol.

Well, since I was playing with the idea of making a condi build for my warrior next to my GS/Hammer build, the topic ‘confusion damage’ had to be looked at at some point.

So before I am going to spill out any more dreams and ideas of what it could look like and getting that lovely hateful critique of yours I was wanting to ask if anyone actually still uses confusion as a source of damage? And what would your experience be?

Of course I did my homework. A warrior can stack around 12 confusion stacks in a very short time. With an average of 1200 condition damage (which is not a lot) 1860 confusion damage is possible. I think this is still a lot, considering the enemy is most likely also going to bleed for 1000-1500 damage and addtional burning condition pressure. Maybe even add some poison to counter passive/active healing.

WvW confusion math: (source: wiki)
65 + (0.075 * Condition Damage) per stack.

1200 * 0.075 + 65 = 155
155 * 12 = 1860

kitten this, Ill go offtopic now. This is to exciting.
Been playing around in the editor with your 80k build for a bit. Why dont you take the rune of the fire ?
You’ll only receive 10% might duration instead of 30% and no minus condi-duration. But, 20% more burntime + a free fire aura for 5 seconds that’ll give you even more might if you get hit (A big plus imo). And the Might gain while getting hit is still there aswell.

I’d also take the Health gain soup with +70 toughness. Realistically you only sit at 2700 armor atm once you get hit because of that minor trait.

You touched the shiny, didn’t you?

shout warrior (hammer + sw/sh) - my version

in Warrior

Posted by: Flitzie.6082

Flitzie.6082

Well this is dilemma that I was talking about. OF course my shoutbuild isnt very good either, but thats because its difficult to make a decent power shout build.
You would need 00664 points, but that is not possible.

Lets see, the perma-swiftness is a good point, lets exchange ‘Warriors sprint’ for ‘inspiring shouts’.
This allows us to drop ‘Cleansing Ire’ and exchange it with ‘Merciless Hammer’ thus giving us a free trait point to put into fast swapping.
Of course we swap ‘On my mark’ for ‘Fear me’. I was not really paying attention to the utilities. They should be changed to fit the current situation anyway.

Then it looks kinda like this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJMQNAS8enMdMdoyjyjdecewUwUQciciMAXQhtvDAdpQ6MIE2AA-TxCEABRcBAWUlCGeCAPp0YLlgMpEpJlRKquSS7P0muHAOIAkBwcMA-e

- We are now sitting at a bad toughness/vita ratio and power still to low.
- 30% crit chance is easily enough with the elite and ‘For great justice’ fury uptime. Any more than 30% crit chance is going to sacrifice a lot of other stats.
- Two Intelligence Sigil need to go now since we have fast swapping. It can be any sigil really, Might on swap, cleanse on swap. etc. Pick at will.
- Lets ignore the OP this time and exchange the shield with the warhorn since I believe that its the superior choice in a shout build myself and pick ‘quick breathing’.

And we end up somewhere here.
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fJMQNBiYD7kpjpDVeUes1jzDeekCiTkTkB4CKs9dAoLFSnBhwGA-TRDEABRcBAWUdAGeAAPp0YLlgMpEbSVCk4IA0kyAFVxpNdPJt/AAHEgAAIAiQH6QjUARMGA-e
Now this looks a lot better. IMO perfect vita/toughness ratio and values. Perfect crit damage/chance ratio aswell. Still lacking 300 power though, but its not going to be possible to reach.

Flitzie has posted Afro’s new build

Except that I ran it before him

But oh dear, this celestial build looks great on paper. Would love to give it a try. Longbow/GS is something I’ve been wanting to run for a while now. Sadly I am way to broke to buy anything atm
Its also hard to ignore those 6-7k crits that hammer provides me with, sitting on a whopping 3400power and ~200% crit damage. And aslong the average player does not learn that a simple stability boons makes any GS (because of Bulls) or Hammer warrior a sitting duck, this whole thing is too good to ignore.

I find it difficult to believe you have troubles understanding the mechanics and gameplay of gw2 if you have already played another MMO like WoW. It really is not that hard. I still think Guild wars 2 is among the easiest MMOs out there. It sure feels different to what you are used to from WoW but the core features are the same after all.

The trading post is still here, the black lion trading company as it is called. And it still is avaialble through the “lion-icon” at the top of the screen.
Dungeons are those Door-icons on the map. Most people enter them at level 80 though. Even the lower level ones because you’ll be scaled up anyway.

And via the little social icon at the top you can easily search a group for a specific content of the game or look for members on your own with a custom description.

I’d say take your time and look through all of those icons at the top of the screen and all their subcategories. Also, try to visit atleast one out of every icons on the map that you can see and voila, you’ve seen it all already.

Edit: If you have trouble getting a grasp on how you should progress. Well, just do whatever you want really. Aimlessly roaming along the roads of these lands and doing events and heart-quests that you come along is essentially what this games open world PvE content is all about. Pick up some ore-nodes along the way, chop a tree, try out a new weapon. Thats basically it. Once you are 80 there’ll be a little more to do.
