Idk whats happening with IoJ. We’re just so inconsistent
Just setup a basic P/D heavy heal/condition damage build on my thief.
Using yellow/green gear.
Already pulling in kills and getting away virtually unscathed.
I think the main problem here is culling. They either need to redesign the way this interacts with stealth. or stealth needs to be redesigned.
i’ve gotten a precurser drop from an SoS invader so i really have no complaints…
You must consume four leaf clovers daily or something…
I agree though the drops arent always the greatest but its enough to cover repairs and basic siege (rams, arrow carts, ect) and on average I usually still make a couple gold a day. I dont spend much so I am slowly building up a nice pile of coin.
Would be nice to see a slight tweak in the drop rates though. Maybe add a rare chance for WvW gear to drop or something. Give people an incentive to actually come out to WvW.
Grats.
Think I have something like 6 stacks of these now. No idea what im gona do with them as I doubt ill ever have the patience to grind out a legendary :P
Is a bit of respect and sportsmanship too much to ask?
I think what people view as deserving of respect and what qualifies as sportsmanship is going to be pretty varied and as such, it really is likely too much to ask.
It is. This is still the internet after all :P
If this thief was like me he was built for spec and only has 12,025hp like I do. Bring me down to 50% hp and I have 6k hp. My heal does 4k something.. there you go, from 50% to full life in one heal. Hammer is such low dps. Try a greatsword.
Ive tried pretty much every build under the sun on my warrior. Hammer suits me best for WvW. Its perfect for zerg battles. Plus the build allows me more survivability so I can take a pretty serious beating. Greatsword has too many drawbacks when it comes to actually fighting players. Hundred blades is stupidly easy to dodge. Hammer also has 2 great abilities for dealing with thieves. the 3 ability puts a cripple on anyone in front of me with a pretty decent range in addition to this it also puts a 1 second immobilize on anyone it cripples. then my burst ability which is a massive AOE stun. I dont need to see them to get these abilities off I just need to know the general location. Still does pretty decent damage along with all the crazy CC. Auto attacks average around 1.5k to 3-4k on crits.
Also im starting to run with stomp now specifically to deal with thieves using shadow refuge. the second i see it go down I run over and knock them out of it. (also good for fights at hills. always funny to knock people off the cliff)
Thieves damage is OP?
I have a build for every single class in the game which has more damage than a Thief can pull off (while having more surviveability).
Liar…
Apparently hes never been hit by a 17k backstab lol
EDIT: Obviously not talking about THIS build…but thieves in general probably have the highest hitting single attack in the game.

Dude, theres “Assasin’s Reward” trait, that everytime he uses a skill that costs initiative he heals, there’s Signet of Malice, that everytime he hits he gets healed, then picture this: He stealths gaining health, then he gets out of stealth shooting you 4 times with the 1st skill healing again, plus the traits that heals thieves in stealth, plus food or boosters that grants regeneration. Here’s a simple explanation. I’ve done that before, I can make a build for you sometime.
I guess I can see this adding up. Along with very well timed dodges. Still seemed like alot more. Idk. Ill probably setup a heal build on my thief and play around with it to see if i get similar results.
Thanks for the feedback everyone.

One of my (weaker) sPvP builds.
With healing, toughness, con damage gear it leaves you with 12k HP, which you are able to refill constantly with the regeneration buff from entering stealth, the healing on use of CnD by spending Initiative, and the signet healing from the pistol stealth attack (which is even greater if stealth attacking out of Shadow Refuge, since it’s a Dark combo field, granting you Life Steal).
It’s basically half the healing, half the HP, half the toughness and half the damage of my Necro build, without any group support and healing, which is why I’m not using it often, but it’s the best you can do as Thief.
Probably close to the spec you were fighting.
How that guy could beat your group alone still makes me curious, but i guess it’s just a case of bad play.
(This is the easiest to play Thief spec in existens, while still being stupid good, if you mind the effort you have to put down to play it (absolutely none), and i hope Anet will focus their nerfs on ridiculous builds like this, instead of nerfing great builds like Backstab Thieves, which actually require skill due to being extremely dangerous to play, requireing high reaction times, positioning and careful target picking)
Well keep in mind things work a little differently in WvW. We had a pretty big zerg fight going on in the background. Culling played a big role. added maybe 1-2 seconds to his stealth time. meaning he was only rendered on my screen for MAYBE one-two seconds before restealthing again. While that nec build of yours may be tough as kitten to kill in sPvP in reality in WvW the stealth build will probably last longer since you wont be focused as much. (If at all…most people dont even bother going after thieves due to culling)
BTW with that build what kinda gear do you use? power/toughness/vit? or stuff with +healing?

3 people have asked and you still haven’t answered. DID HE KILL ANYBODY? In caps so that you see it this time. If he did not kill anyone but just ran around which is the point in this thread?
If you read all of my posts you would have read that he killed me. I said it in 2 posts.
Im on IoJ. I believe he was from Crystal Desert.
There is no class in the game (obviously besides thieves) that can match that amount of healing in such a short period of time. SUSTAINED healing.
Thats really weird, since i run a Necromancer tournament spec in which i heal for around 3-5k health per second, which i can keep up without any downtime, forever. Additionally to the heals i constantly freeze, blind, bleed, remove boons from enemies, remove conditions from me and my allies and highly damage enemies, actually allowing me to win 1 vs 4 fights with ease, or at least hold points until my guildies arrive.
I have not once lost a point in sPvP with my Necro in over 30 tournaments with this build, and then people come along, telling me Thieves are OP, while I don’t even have to do anything when a Thief jumps on me, since i need around a half second to outheal the Mug/CnD/Backstab combo (which they can’t even pull of 90% of the time since i put down a AoE blind when a Thief approches me) of a full glass cannon Thief, just to kill him passively by AoE’s in 3 seconds, actually ment for some one else.
People just jump on this stupid Thieves are OP bandwagon, everytime they get pwned by a Thief, while it was actually their fault they lost, because they have absolutely no clue how Thieves work.
Thieves are nothing more than mediocre.
Their defense is bullkitten, their mobility is good, their damage is good, their healing mediocre and their support is bullkitten.
And you can’t actually get “all” the good things in together in one build.
You either have good mobility and damage, but crappy defense and healing and support, or you have good mobility and mediocre healing, but crappy damage, defense (besides healing) and support in one build.
That doesn’t sound OP to me.To claim that no other class can achieve such high healing is just a joke, when i personally play a healing/toughness well Necromancer for sPvP, which does outperform every healing a Thief could possibly pull off, even tho I main a Thief outside of sPvP.
Why i don’t play my Thief in sPvP?
Because Thieves are a weak profession, and i would have to do twice the work, and have twice the skill to play my Thief just half as effective as i am with other classes versus skillfull players.Thieves damage is OP?
I have a build for every single class in the game which has more damage than a Thief can pull off (while having more surviveability).
Thief heal is OP now too?
Well to bad, i also have better healing specs for nearly all professions than a Thief could ever dream of, while having at least the same damage and twice the control and support of a healing Thief spec.
Just start playing a Thief for sanitys sake.
Try out builds in high, skillfull play.
Test out what works and what doesn’t works.
Test out HOW it works.Go back to your profession, and enjoy the easy mode.
If you loose a fight with multiple allies against one Thief, the worst multi target class in the game, then you really, really need it.
Did I even once say that thieves are OP? 9 times out of 10 when I come across a thief I roll over him like a train. I dont play glass builds. I stack toughness and power. Also I really dont care what your able to do in sPvP as this thread has nothing to do with sPvP or even bunker builds in general.
I described the fight accurately. I made this thread literally the second after he got chased off. Mainly because I wanted to know if he was doing it legitimately. Dont come in here and start accusing me of “Jumping on the bandwagon”. FYI I have a level 80 thief. I know the mechanics better than most of your so called “Band-wagoners”
As mentioned in this thread the build he was using pretty much laughs at anything that doesnt have heavy condition removal. But if you read what I said our survivability wasnt even the issue. It took him over 2 minutes to down me and in that time we had him under 40% life probably 6-7 times. He was never stealthed long enough to get out of combat so thats not even a possibilty.
The only explanation ive seen here that could even be a remote possibility was a heavy healing/condition/stealth build.
Are there any P/D stealth thieves out there that are willing to comment on this?
If the real answer hasn’t already been given, I know it! A base glass cannon thief has around 10k health. Hide in shadows heals for about 5k. So if he uses that, he goes into stealth and emerges full health. Granted that can only happen once every 30 seconds, so perhaps the OP’s sense of time is a bit off.
I have a second theory if that one doesn’t work…he was working with 2-3 other similarly specced and geared thieves, making use of near perma-stealth and culling. My guild mates do that from time to time.
The fight lasted about 3 minutes. There was only 1 of them. This was at a time when the entire map was under our control we were just fortifying towers and camps. He wasnt even remotely close to being glass as he only just managed to finish me off before the zerg rolled up behind us and chased him away.
He managed to kill me. As i stated none of our stuns/roots/cripples seemed to have any effect on him. everytime he came out of stealth he was back at full health. Not exaggerating. We are an experienced gank group we know how to deal with stealth thieves. Stealth was not even part of the problem it was the fact that he seemed immune to CC and his healing was beyond anything ive ever seen before.
He wasn’t hacking he is playing a stealth spec. There are traits, that sacrifice damage and mobility, to allow the Thief to regerante HP while in stealth. He could also be using Steal Life food/sigils/runes.
If you know nothing of your enemies you are not going to defeat them.
I know about the trait but literally. Full health every time he came out. 50% up to full in what? how long does CND last? 3? 4 seconds? That seems like an outrageous amount of healing.
That isn’t from Shadow Rejuvenation.
At base 30 it heals 323. With Shaman’s 410. So 1200-1600 if you don’t attack in stealth.
With Shadow Protector regen gives 269. So 679 if that’s how they set it up. Which is 2716 in 4 seconds. Out of 10805 health that’s still not 50%. Mind you if his health was 10805. That’s really…low to begin with. Unless he was getting ticks from SoM or using Withdrawl while hidden it has to be an exaggeration.
Not exagerrating. Other people were commenting on how hard he was to kill as well in chat. Just absolutely stupid amounts of healing.
He wasnt glass. he was taking some sizeable hits. landed my burst ability on him twice. I mean you gotta take into account. 3 hammer warriors thats putting out ALOT of aoe damage in addition to the CC. All of us are running the build that makes our #3 skill apply a 1 second root in addition to cripples. This didnt seem to apply to him at all. I just dont understand how he was moving around so quickly and healing so much.
This is NOT the first stealth thief that ive fought lol. I usually just laugh at them. the second I smell a burst coming I pop endure pain or shield block then start my CC chain on them. He was pretty much negating all of our damage everytime he stealthed.
Ive seen a mesmer running around our BL last week using a confirmed hack. basically just teleporting all over the map freely (no skills used)
If people can do that isnt it possible they could do the same to maybe make it so when they stealth it takes them out of combat?
I would say, that the thieve should steal the ability to make an illusion or two, or to daze, or a decoy for all I care. But let them “steal” a skill, that the Mesmer can not perform is just not fair…
omg please dont even put the idea in the devs head lol. thief stealth is already enough of a pain in the butt without having to worry about decoys or clones >_<
I know about the trait but literally. Full health every time he came out. 50% up to full in what? how long does CND last? 3? 4 seconds? That seems like an outrageous amount of healing.
Pretty much every class can pull that off, most of them are even way more effective (dps and control) wise doing so as a Thief.
Good luck fighting a leeching Wellomancer or a Bunker Guardian if you already have problems with a Thief.
K ive fought alot of stuff out in WvW. Ive been playing since launch. Ive never encountered someone that heals that much. I really dont think your understanding me when I say full health everytime he stealthed. There is no class in the game (obviously besides thieves) that can match that amount of healing in such a short period of time. SUSTAINED healing. He probably could have gone on like that untill we were all dead. the only thing that saved us was a zerg coming up behind us.
Bunkers are a pain but they never kill me because I can actually see them and CC them appropriately to interrupt/negate the majority of their skills.
He wasn’t hacking he is playing a stealth spec. There are traits, that sacrifice damage and mobility, to allow the Thief to regerante HP while in stealth. He could also be using Steal Life food/sigils/runes.

Seriously its not. I was just running with a guild group. 3 of us came across an enemy thief that was running pistol/dagger. We could NOT kill him. the 3 of us running hammer warriors along with a hammer guard pug that was running around with us. Everytime we got some solid hits on him he would stealth and reappear about 2 seconds later with FULL health. Someone explain to me how this is possible? I know there is a trait that makes you regen or something when you go stealth but does it really heal you that much? 4 of us could not kill him. Spamming roots/cripple/knockback/stuns/knockdowns everytime we got on him he would disappear and reappear a few steps away with full health. Either he was hacking or this is a build that seriously needs to be investigated.
If anyone can explain to me how he pulls this off?
The green crystals that you see in the Jade Maw are (or were) water. They were parts of the Jade Sea.The story goes from GW1 Factions – Shiro Tagachi(the main antagonist) kills his emperor in fear of his own life, somehow stealing the emperor’s powers.Shortly after, he meets his demise, yet just before he dies he howls. That howl effectively petrifies the entirety of Echovald forest and crystalizes the waters of the Jade Sea.
As for the same experience, I fell down by accident once but just got ported above in downed state.
What hes describing is more of a bug than a plot device. He fell into an unused part of the map where devs probably play around with terrain. Most likely there only for testing purposes.
Others have been there im pretty sure. There was a topic made shortly after fractals came out with screenshots and what not.
Balanced is best IMO. If your a warrior go hammer. Gives you respectable damage. Insane amounts of CC. Plus you get toughness. Thieves cannot one shot you if you build it right. and you have so many AOE snares you just laugh at them as they try to escape.
Honestly I dont even know the classes of any of the commanders outside my guild. It doesnt matter at all so long as they are doing a good job of commanding our forces.
That being said. You should be far more concerned with weather of not your server needs another commander. 100g really isnt a large enough requirement for the tag. Im sure our server is not the only one that has issues with massively inexperienced players putting on tags and acting like that know what theyre doing. Which of course can cause issues when your trying to get things organized.
if you did a little more research you will find that there is a way around this. Transmute the soulbound item into a blue item (fine rarity) and it will become account bound instead of soulbound. So then, you’ll have the skin you want as a blue item. Then you can combine the stats you want with it. You’ll need 2 transmutation stones tho.
Good to know this
Can someone please post a score update
Current scores.
Honestly since i started running a hammer build on my warrior I pretty much just laugh at thieves as I stun lock then to death.
Ive been playing a legion build on my mesmer for a while now in sPvP. Gotta say. I do feel a bit overpowered at times. Averaging 10-15 kills with MAYBE 1 death. Its the most balanced build that ive played dipping into all the trees.
I bring 2 stealth abilities. When they figure out which one of me is real. Pop stealth and dodge. Rinse and repeat untill dead. I have no problem at all in 2v1s unless im up against someone who is really good at finding me among the clones.
If I need to get out. Stealth. Dodge to create a clone. Blink. By the time they figure out theyre smacking a clone im long gone.
Not unbeatable but certainly very hard to kill a really skilled mesmer.
Really looking forward to the change in pace. We just cant keep up with SoR and BG
I opened it, got a bell that was worth 10k order, 50k on TP. No idea why. It was just a bell that made sound. Unbreakable. If its anything like the others, its a one time use.
Edit: 10g and 50g, not 10k and 50k.
Yeah if i were you id hold on to that one. Gona be worth alot after this event is over. Plus you can use it to annoy the crap out of your friends :P
Only took me about 5 tries to get it. this is MUCH easier than the halloween one.
- Fleet Shadow: Increased move speed from 33% to 50%.
…What?! Thieves can already get away soooo easily in WvW why on earth would they EVER consider making this EASIER for them?! Along with the culling problems…..I just dont understand why they would buff stealth in ANY way right now.
Because as a thief, you’re sooo slow. Bow, 5, done.
Maybe this is Anet saying that the Thief is SUPPOSED to be able to be fast, agile, and mobile? You know, like it says in the class description? Get used to it.
;)
k thats fine…..if they didnt also have the ability to dish out more damage then most of the other classes in the game.
In WvW stealth is already MASSIVELY abused. 9/10 encounters with enemies are thieves. Half the time when your fighting them you cant even see them due to culling issues.
Now you make them move 20% faster allowing them to get behind the target faster pulling off backstabs more easily and if things start looking ugly just turn and run and no one could possibly catch you.
This was really just unnecessary. Thieves were already highly mobile and a skilled thief could get out of any situation.
A skilled anything can get out of any situation, I make Thieves cry in sPvP with my war. Once they pop out of stealth, perma-stun and they’re dead.
Thieves are fine in sPvP. The issue is in WvW.
To quote a post I read the other day its like trying to fight an invisible boxer. He chooses when and where to hit you.
If you try to fight back he just disappears. 9 times outta 10 im already half dead before he even loads on my screen. I goto target him. He disappears again and backstabs me down.
Whyyyy would they buff this?

damn wish I had known about that last night. Had an amazing 1v1 with a warrior from SoR.
Should be entertaining watching people just randomly explode lol
There is no ascended armor.
And who cares as long as it’s only rings and a backpack? When they add more items, they’ll add more ways to get them.
This is true. They already stated it was a mistake to make the rings RNG. Next major update will probably include other ways to acquire them that dont involve running fractals 500 times to get one ring.
Just run fractals with your guild. If you have a solid group you can get 1-10 in a day easily. Then you just have to run level ten once a day and eventually you’ll get your rings. If your lucky you’ll find a vial of mists essence while your at it. Then you can craft a back piece as well.
I do agree they need to add this loot to the WvW vendors. Or at least an equivalent. But I dont think its too much of an issue right now. They arent very hard to get unless your really freakin unlucky.
There are easily accessible hacks out there people can find and download that involve speed adjustments and actual “flying”. I’ve heard rumors of one that allow for teleporting but I haven’t seen any proof to substantiate that one.
I’ve seen concrete proof for the other two they’re essentially just hijacking some things in memory to make it possible its fairly easy to combat against them I guess they don’t have a security team familiar with such things?
I’ve witnessed some of the aforementioned going on in WvW by two guilds from Dragonbrand at odd hours. Thankfully I had screenshots taken and have it recored in video as well. Thank you fraps! Emailed to ANet hopefully something will be done but I doubt it. I’ve submitted such things before then see the same people going at it, oh well one can hope.
Well some of the earlier bots I used to see roaming around PvE zones had the ability to teleport to dead mobs to loot. Would not be surprised if it was possible.
As for what the OP is talking about where large numbers of players are doing this teleporting past walls into keeps thats a pretty serious issue that needs to be investigated.
Just ran into this issue for the first time.
Im from Isle of janthir. Was on a lions arch overflow map trying to join a fractal group that I found through gw2lfg.
The group was full. me and one other person were in an overflow together but we could not join the rest of the group. However we could see them on the minimap. Tried leaving group and rezoning to get into a different overflow server. The join button appeared. I hit it and it did the same thing again. Could see them on the mini map but we were clearly in different servers. I hope a fix is coming for this or implement a districts system like in GW1 where you can select which server you are going to. This whole randomized system kinda blows.
At later levels when more elementals spawn its usually better to kill off some of them first. They’ll wipe the group very fast unless youve got a tanky/healy group.
If you have a warrior or 2 its even easier. Just have them run “Fear me!” and fear the shaman when he gets close to the captive. that should give you more than enough time to finish off the elementals without having to worry about the shamans attacks as well.
Im still averaging 1-2 rares per level along with the occasional exotic.
Really? honestly this is probably one of the easier fights in the game :/ ive never had any serious problems with it.
Do we really need another one of these threads? The devs already stated that more ways to get the rings will be added later. It wont be 100% RNG then.
There has to be a bug. Ive gotten a ring pretty much every daily ive done past 10 while other people I know that have been running with me still have yet to get even one.
This makes the uncategorized fractal suchhhhh a pain. Particularly on the 2nd jumping part. Soooo many deaths there. Please for the love of all that is holy fixxx this asap.
It’s not ready yet. We’re still working on the fix for this issue.
Any ETA on this? Sometime this week? a month from now?
Just wipe. When you fight him again adds will spawn. Worked for us.
Funny, you couldn’t be bothered to fix the teleporting grawl bug though huh?
Noticed this too. Very disappointed by this.
Also no fix for DCing yet. Getting pretty tired of dealing with this. Just crashed at the end of the colossus fractal.
Personally I would wait. 1.5+g per 100 gems is just outrageuous.
I would really like a dev to say something about this. I have done more than 12 daily and i haven’t gotten any ring. When is this rng bs gonna go away? This is not the mmo i came here for.
Devs already commented on this. More ways to obtain rings will be added that are not RNG. No ETA. If you dont like it right now go play the rest of the game. The ascended items are currently only needed for high level fractals. This does not prevent you from doing anything else. So probably not a real high priority atm.
