Well, if HoD has an advantage during the week because of being a big more international server, then ET has a huge advantage during the weekend, since they can get all their guilds in WvW. WHich HoD cant.
For HoD:
Weekend = More randoms
Week = More structure
For ET
Weekend = More people in guilds and more structured play.
Week = emptiness.
So yeah, ET has an advantage in the weekend because they’re a small server, where as being a big server in the weekend is a disadvantage.
Disclaimer: (which going to be ignored I’m sure) It’s all relative, meaning I never said how big these advantages are. I think its a significant advantage though.

Ehhh lol? xD
It’s was more a notion that your oh so awesome server’s focus is a bit off there. =P Tactics? Wut? Siege that puzzle! OMg we’re losing? How could that be? They must be working together, starts internet rumour of HoD and SBI working together.
That’s pretty much my view on it. It’s fun all this drama, but it just shows to me there’s little else you can do about HoD winning. Guilds or no.
Also I go in there specifically because it’s funny, if I actually want to get anywhere I would just give up and play the battles and capture 1 or 2 supply camps with 2-3 people. :P Or the ogres. (Guerilla tactics ftw)

Arctix, go build more Siege in the EB jumping puzzle with the rest of JQ. LOL
I mean, all this complaining? It’s fairly pointless if half your map is in the puzzle.
I give them a good laugh (and myself a good challenge) and go in there just for some laughs with the joke-krewe of JQ.
As of this moment there’s even a siege golem in the puzzle.

Seriously thats all it takes, they are the ones dropping the deadly aoe, all the boss does is look pretty and put out slow moving fire lines.
Actually he does different AoEs, the Embers put out lava fonts.
And yeah, it’s quite easy if there aren’t many people around. (I nearly soloed him until people started to come in >_>) But once he starts scaling up the damage output is crazy.
I’m all for hard encounters, but I’m more talking about unfair encounters.
In my opinion this boss could have a more shoot-em-up boss style of AoE patterns (just alot slower ofcourse) and less spawns or more controlled spawns. The AoE of the Embers is random. So one time everything is fine the other time you have 5 Aoes in one spot. You cannot anticipate such things.
It’s not about making him easier for me, I just would like it to be fair and to that extend more fun. Instantly going down coz of missing one aoe is fairly unforgiving.
And yeah, I wasn’t even standing on the bridge.

I’ve encountered this boss many times now, and it’s skills are just badly designed.
I do consider myself quite the mediocre but steady player and I am not able to dodge this for longer than a minutes. Then die come back and again.
This leads to broken armors, way point costs and much muuuuch frustrated players.
He goes down only because he doesn’t regen. No one is able to stand around and kill that boss. Unless you get a dungeon group together and even then.
There are many solutions that really need to be implemented.
1. Remove the knockdown from those AoEs of the fire elemental itself. Or reduce the damage drastically. They come without warning (or a teeny tiny window if you have the AoE circles enabled) and basically kill you to 10-25% of your DOWNED health. So not just your normal health.. you go straight down, and the get some more flak of the AoE bringing you to the brink of defeated. People ressing set themselves up for a similar treatment. It’s frustrating, unfair, and definitely not fun at all.
2. Remove the embers. This could be exclusive to the other fix I think, because the embers just make those Knockdown burning aoeas worse. because they just kill of anyone downed. They also spawn three AoEs or so making the whole area one big field of DoTs. yeah.. try dodging that.
3. The levels of the embers is 16, making them harder to kill (unless youre fairly high level) and everyone is toned down to level 15. (if it isn’t 14)
As a last note, I’m all for well designed bosses that prove quite the challenge.
Hell I wouldn’t mind if this boss brought some extra havoc by exploding specific areas around him making it so his aoes can be predicted, and thus dodged easier once people see what is happening.
Then while his aoe is not happening spawn out waves of embers to defeat. To keep this a bit chaotic you might even get away with doing this at the same time.
Just this boss needs structure and containment.
At least that’s what I think. This boss could be alot of fun, and now its just a random mash-up of putting fires everywhere. And everyone I see feels the same, except a few (actually including myself) that say the boss can be done if really disciplined right. But it’s a World event, not a dungeon events.
EDIT: sorry about the title! xD I didn’t know about the filter. I feel my “kitten” just got burned. hehe.
