Personally, I would just try to do the event. Purposely fail an event isn’t one of the things that’s on my list of things to do. I would probably go as far as purposely trying to do these events.
It’s basically the same as purposely doing the Queensdale Champion train out of order just to confuse people.
Both of those things are just horrendous to see imo, since they break any kind of immersion of the world, and make the game into this weird grindy surreal thing, which I don’t like to see.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
I think the most important things there from the OP are:
1. The world being at a stand still around the occurrences, and the history of bigger events , like the forming of the Pact, the character being the commander. It really feels like add-ons to the movement of the world, without there being any interaction with eachother. even all the dragon factions are far apart from eachother and they don’t interact. I could totally imagine the sons of svanir clashing with Crystal minions.
2. Not leaving plot holes in the game, to fix them with things outside the game. I don’t mind side stories about seemingly uncorrelated information in the game. But if something OUTSIDE the game is needed to explain what happens in the game itself then that is silly.
3. I really think the story needs to tie in both personal story and living story in one. And giving options to players to make important choices and changes are needed in a gaming environment.
Let us fail at something like defeating a dragon champion, or maybe if we actually defeat it, then the story progresses differently. I found the voting for which captain to be really nice, and unique and felt like we had some influence on the world. That’s something that i really liked.

I think the OP has probably some point though. Buying all the traits seems like a hassle. ANd levelling doesn’t really seem to do more than add a level and some stats and a skillpoint.
Not regarding the balance of it all, or whether it’s harder or easier. It just feels more pointless I wager.

I agree, They shouldn’t have nerfed the dungeon difficulty into the ground. I thought with AC they were updating the difficulty for the dungeons. But it seems it is going the Gw1, and make everything alot easier, because almost no one cares for a challenge in the MMO scene.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
Ac has become super easy post patch. You can facecheck into any encounter now with a bunch of lvl 80s. I still think its pretty nice though.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
Well, soloing champs is really not the best argument to put forward here, I agree.
But so far:
- World boss timers were adjusted to compensate, making the events feel less unique, they don’t flow with the map, especially ones with a meta event chain, they feel really out of place when you get to the end and nothing happens.
- Youre bound by the time table, rather than having control over which boss you do.
- Mega server means the events are super zergy, it was ten times more fun on my lesser populated server where 15-30 players were doing them rather than 50+ every time. The events are not fun with zergs.
- People don’t get ordened according to language properly
- Guilds have a hard time (if they are big enough) to get all members in for guild missions
- Guild missions have always other guilds doing them, making it really annoying to do them.
- You can’t control at ALL what people are going to be in your map, you cant switch map easy instances either. Especially annoying for roleplayers.
- Bigger community events by pre-exsisting (server) communities are really annoying to do in mega server maps.
- Personally I think the zerging makes people super lazy, afking at the events hardly doing anything. It turns into queensdale champion trains. And really don’t see how that is good for the game. You have no choice between world boss training and doing it off peak hours, or at a time when it’s less populated, because it’s ALWAYS populated.

I kinda want to unlock all that starter gear as well. and my friend did that too.
I think it’s kind of stupid to punish people for it. They should either leave them there as is and fix it, or remove all but 50 bonus chests or so. (which seems fair I would say)
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
Currently, when you make a new character it instantly levels its WvW rank to your account-wide rank, giving you bonus chests to be received upon next rank up. Also, they stack if you delete and remake a character.
But then… Why did i only get 1 bonus chest? :/ I certainly played on multitudes of characters.
EDIT:And wow, that seems really broken :o
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
(edited by FrizzFreston.5290)
I have almost 3k bonus chests now…..what is this 20g per chest? I barely get 20 silver per chest….that seems like a bug to me. o.o
KITTEN ME…
yeah i meant 20 silver.. :p
still 20 silver times 2k (my friend) =400 gold
and times your 3k is like 600 gold
granted every chest is 20 silver.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
While it was really nice to give everyone bonus chests and such, for some reason some people have over 2000 WvW bonus chests and others (like me) only gotten 1.
To me it seems very weird that I only got 1 bonus chest, missing all the ranks i gained through the making of account bound WXP.
Also, giving people 2,2k bonus chests, as a bug, feels extremely insane as well. (That’s like 400 gold, counting 20 silver per chest)

Hey Maetheryl/Bennish/Lex,
Could you please join the rest of us in WLEC? ^^ I think we can greatly use such a server since all the previous ones have moved or are inactive.
Also find us on here:
http://wlec.shivtr.com/
I know it doesn’t say “underworld.com.net.org”or whatever, but it is where alot of the underworld people are. (and I’m glad some people are taking on some things like facebook page, managing ranks and such) All the help is very welcome.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
As someone who thouroughly enjoys smaller grouped play in theactual world, and even with the “faster” schedule for smaller boss events, I have to say that empowering guilds to do these lesser world bosses in a similar fashion, which typically would also be something that might be interesting for smaller guilds. (Most world bosses are exceptionally tough but still fairly doable with only 5 people)
Why aren’t the smaller world events included in the guild missions? I understand that might kind of take away the “living” feeling for the world, but I feel that this could potentially help people that might not have the time of the world, and greatly increase guild importance.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
Since I’m quite unable to get this in PvE, and never had the rank in PvP to make it (and now not even the tokens to make it >-> like really smooth)
What will actually happen to this armor set? With the wardrode and PvP rewards being totally different, where would this armor go? Will it disappear, will it forever be unobtainable (For shame)
I know it’s unfinished in some regards, but I still would very much like to see this armor, one way or another to be obtainable.
Otherwise it will become very exclusive armor, which is a shame really.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
Pff, I’m barely halfway with dailies. (at 5k) and 20% for monthlies. I don’t think such a cap is that bothersome at all. I rather like my permanent AP points much more than grinding dailies 24/7 because AP.. wee.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
As I read it in another post, it seems that you can influence in which server you can actually get tied up with. Thus guesting will influence the possibility you get teamed up with the people from a certain server.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
- Hardcore (enjoys speed run dungeons using any means necessary for instance)
(that’s more like grindcore, imo. :P)
The only problem i have with these is that an empty map (that ofcourse isnt fully empty) is more enjoyable. I feel like the MEGA server sounds like the more people the better. But I know from Underworld that right now world bosses are FUN to do, rather than auto attack madness zergy.
Sometimes it’s even fun to try with only a very small amount of people, just for the challenge. (Surely that will be a minority, but still)
I feel like now there is no choice at all, you either massively zerg the events, or you..don’t.
I already thought zerging the events was such a bad mentality (People always whining “not enough people” annoys the crap out of me. Either try your best or cry in a corner far away from the event if it’s too tough) I feel like this might become worse, because this massive amount of numbers will be there, like all the time.
I would’ve preferred more quality, than prefer more numbers of people, simply because more is better.
I feel my framerate dropping already.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
What is funnier, is that your name is sunshine. =P
Also if your screen is fully bobblehead, you might want to zoom out on your character. I mean, I generally play zoomed out the whole time.
The notion you can’t play the game because of a big head is a bit strange tbh.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
The shatterer simply needs to be adjusted so people need to use the mortars and super buggy cannons (please fix those)
Other than that, it’s a simple rebalance that healing mortars are needed, and that safe spots are more or less removed. (Spawning adds doesn’t quite help in higher scalings.)
Also dynamic scaling where the lower scalings (5- 30 people) stays about the same.

I know it’s a bit late, but how in the hell are people supposed to get gear tokens if there is no more glory?
I have loads of dust and stuff that I was saving up to make some gear, but now i simply cant make anything because the tokens are behind a glory wall, which i all spend because glory was going to be phased out.
Ugh I knew I should’ve saved it.

I’m nowhere mentioning that UW is having good WvW. But thanks for your bumping of the thread. =P
There is enough space, and there are people still there. We will organise ourselves after all the transfers have happened.
This means, basically that people will have a harder time, will need to put in more effort. Or if they want to have a quiet server. That they are welcome to join. Of course don’t expect miracles.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
I admit, it’s stupid to argue what was wrong or not. But regardless of how bad it looks, I’m willing to try with what is left. You, clearly admitting you left the server, thus have nothing to seek in this thread.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
UW refugees who have not been invited to transfer to Gandara will not be welcomed by the Gandara WvW community. I can’t speak for the PvE community or for every player but there is a wide consensus that further transfers will be harmful to our community and will be looked down upon.
Oh noes, I think that everyone that wants to transfer, has the power to do so. Being looked down upon or not, many guilds could just transfer to your server and you would never know. Sounds like underworld when people tried to lead that as one hive mind. You sound like some guys, that we had on Underworld.
In my opinion, it’s a game, which means, deal with your environment, adapt to changes, or crumble and fail. Gaming is all about overcoming obstacles and challenges. This includes sudden influx of players, players disagreeing/“not obeying” with your self proclaimed best policy and all that stuff.
As such, a server is only dead when there are no people in it. There are still people in Underworld, therefore it’s not dead.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
(edited by FrizzFreston.5290)
wall of text
I’m not sure why you’re trying to make a point. I’m not saying Underworld is in a super good spot. I’m just saying alot of stuff is possible as long as you set your mind to it.
Which is mostly the reason why things get done. Some people in underworld always tried to point fingers, demotivate, keep spirits low, pointing more fingers, just as you are still doing. Which hopefully are gone now. I don’t know whether to be happy or sad you’re not on the server any more, honestly.
So, anyone willing to get things done, and has the right mindset is welcome. All this quarrelling doesn’t help anyone.

Well, currently have a 50-60 man zerg still in EB. Primetime ofcourse.
The knights were easy enough, but people lacked the motivation. I had to take down a knight with 10 people before you guys realised it was possible.
Underworld was just an unstructured mess, after the first few WvW guilds left. Even Balthazar wasn’t done for ages because of the negativity on the server. That was the only reason in my opinion that things didn’t get done. “We can’t” or “this is only training” etc. Less excuses, more doing. =P
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
(edited by FrizzFreston.5290)
You seem to be very defensive, lighten up. ^^ Gandara just has alot of new people, the new and old need to find their positions just as servers which emptied have to refind their balance.
But to call out “oh noes, Queues” feels like it’s going good on your server regarding population. Disagreements are bound to happen. Learn to deal with them. :p More people, more disagreements. It’s very very hard to let people point in the same direction, the more people, the more opinions.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
Underworld went empty as well, though the moods there have been negative since ages. It was bound to happen.
I really think making silver tiered servers free just imploded on the bronze tiered servers. It seems only Vabbi is gaining now, but they’ve been at the bottom for so long that any negative impact on that server was really nothing compared to the others.
That and increased rewards for servers that are high ranked in the tournament. Why wouldn’t you leave if you could go to a more populated server, with a higher chance of getting more rewards.
I really think ArenaNet didn’t really help the lowest tiers at all. Intentional or unintentional I don’t know.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
I see you guys are getting along well on Gandara. :P Now there’s a reason to not join. xD
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
Well, Gandara is the only Silver place to bandwagon for EU that is actually free.
But for the non-bandwagoners, and guilds that like their personal space and alot of space to organise themselves have a good place now on Underworld.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
Pros:
- More WvW Population
- Free Transfer Silver Tier (and the only International one at that)
- High PvE population due to everyone transferring
- Higher WvW Rewards
- Easier to bandwagon.
Cons:
- Queues that might rival those in Gold Tier. (tbh I really doubt you have that long queues though)
Yeah…. This thread is not going to help you. Tbh I think it was the worst idea to have a silver tier server to be free transfer. The lower bronze servers have little population, and take more effort. But a silver tier server that already had some structure to it is really easy to bandwagon.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
Underworld isn’t that high populated as the server list advertised. You guys have had a bigger zerg all week.
But when I was there it was always fun to fight you guys, that’s for sure ^^
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
With Underworld being emptied as most guilds left, including Mayhem who everyone seemed to hate (well, some anyway). While I don’t expect many guilds to switch still, it would be awesome if we get some people to join Underworld, as right now we seemed to have quite a bit of space, while having little drama.
That said, we have got the community site of WLEC http://wlec.shivtr.com , for anyone still willing to switch. And less people really means, easier to organize. It will probably need to be reorganised a bit, but that’s easy enough to do together.
That said, I heard Jarni (WAR disbanding), Robert transferring (Cristi reforming Mayh).
Anyone willing to help out, have a fresh start with the rest of Underworld, is very welcome. It’s unclear who is going to come and who is going to stay at this point, but the bigger players seem to have cleared. Thus enough room to have a fresh start.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
Psh, we went from a empty server to a very empty server, you guys have nothing to complain about.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
ZeGa is going to AG, most likely.
And, last but not least, you guys are going to have fun on Gandara, as Mayhem is joining you guys. As far as I heard. (but you never know)
Most of the remaining guilds are going to stay. =p
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
I got 5 people and myself wanting to move
Anyone is welcome. 6 people is 60 or 30 people, depending on Phoenix’ ability to do maths as you can read above. :P
There are many other guilds that aren’t listed in this thread btw, so they are by no means the only guilds.
Like: Death is Energy [DIE] being the largest there missing out, but also River of Tears [RoT], Knight Revenant [KR], a big polish guild Angelsy [PL], Soldiers of Solidarity [SoS], Ordo Lupi ALbi [OLA], and many other smaller guilds that are fairly often to be found in WvW as well. (Though I dunno who of those are doing what. ) Oh and my own guild Wandering Heroes [Rock], our allied mates United Tyrian Avengers [UTA].
So there’s quite a bit of people, even if people usually say we don’t have the numbers for anything.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
A dear friend of mine, put all her account details on a phishing site, like last May. And only now her account has been stolen.
Of course she did send a support ticket with all her details. But I keep wondering, what will happen? WIll you retain your account and simply get a different code? Or will you need to start over after you get a new code? I can understand that this might be going into some territory that ArenaNet might not want to discuss, but Im just worried she will need to do the whole game over again. And she put in alot of time.
I couldn’t really find any tips on what you need to do when your account gets hacked, and more tips on how to prevent it.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
I’m merely stating what is going on the server. I’m not saying we have super organized WvW, just saying there are some good initiatives, and that guilds can enjoy themselves here. And there is definitely room for good organisation since we don’t have that much coverage anymore.
It’s like farming really, sometimes you gotta let the land rest before you can sow again. :p
Just saying that last years harvest was crap, doesn’t mean it will be now. New seeds, new harvest.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
I dunno, but you guys are still fighting over something that happened months ago.
There is quite a good community in the underworld at the moment, and we even had sorts of an alliance , called White Lion Event Company [WLEC] made last month, just to organize our server a bit more. It has some of the guild leaders in it, and Mayhem we have currently left out of it, because it was only causing controversy, and Robert proves that by really just blaming us at us for not just letting them enter, telling some guilds to not enter out of spite, lol, but hey.
Personally I don’t see that much harm in leaving them out of the alliance, they have enough numbers to still organise things for themselves and we still communicate those events by getting people to their events. It cuts out on the drama, it gives people a choice, and everyone still gets informed when something mayor happens on the server. Or at least we still have been whispering guild leaders when Mayh/Lusa (and blod, who is in WLEC) is doing their weekly world event. Tequatl or some such.
So we basically have all remaining guilds working together by doing their own things. And some still organisation with the new initiative (although it’s a month old) where alot of other guilds have sorts of a system to call out for certain events to simply band the server together. And the old initiative of Robert, who still does their events.
It’s really no different than top tier servers with multiple alliances.
WvW has been a bit unorganised still, but there are still commanders who go there every day, and try to organise the players there. WLEC is only a month old, and it’s only growing slowly. We still had some great events. :p
Our somewhat smaller guild ([Rock]) still captures keeps and we really don’t have that much trouble to let the Mayh zerg get some free worldXP even after we basically capped it on our own. :P
To be honest leaving over one person or his guild is kinda pathetic, we simply formed somewhat of a counter initiative for everyone who doesn’t want to deal with that. It’s not that hard.
So all this hate for the underworld is completely biased because people dislike one person. One out of thousands of players.
If that’s -really- a reason to not join our server, then you probably might have a problem. Every server has their controversial guilds/players. (even Desolation, I’m told)
PS.
Here’s some nice examples of what ALSO is happening on the Underworld server:

Why does ArenaNet want to overregulate the amounts of crafting materials. I feel it’s getting out of hand.
The ascended recipes seem to be fine for the most part, but the amounts of silk required are way too much.
- Silk doesn’t have the regular way of getting like Mithril does (Mining). There is no way of getting silk in any other fashion than salvaging.
- Silk needs 3 as opposed to 2 scraps
- Silk is used in every ascended armor.
- And on top of that the ascended gear uses twice the amount of materials.
I mean, come on. That is just crazy.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
Abbadon’s fractal could have had any kind of information about the dragons or about Tyria, because Abbadon was the God of Secrets. When Kormir became the Goddess of Truth, she literally consumed all his knowledge, and she exclaimed: “All that knowledge!” Of course, we don’t know what ArenaNet had planned to put in there.
Scarlet herself seems to have her mind corrupted by something, probably a dragon. In the end she seems to have succumbed to the madness of this power to some extend.
I don’t believe that the pale tree is powerful enough to withstand the power of a dragon, however.
The dragon being Tequatl, could be interesting as a theory, as I still don’t think we have seen the end of the Risen. And Tequatl is simply becoming the new Zaithan. Or a dead Zaithan is actually stronger than a alive Zaithan. Or something like that. In the case of Abbadon, Kormir actually took Abbadon’s power, and thus ending Abbadon. But with Zaithan we shoot him to bits, but I wonder where all that residual magical energy went, because there wasn’t a great magical explosion of any kind. So I find this very suspicious, since we also had an update where Tequatl grows stronger for some reason, but we didn’t particularly gained an explanation for it.
I actually don’t know if the whole story takes place after killing Zaithan, or before, or during our campaign.
Then again, Rox took his tailpiece, and said everyone else smashed the rest of the dragon. (yet he comes back every so often, but I’ll let that be a gameplay thing for now. xD) I dunno, it’s all very confusing.

Sounds a bit like a stretch to me, those lines just follow where all the maps are we have.
(EDit: fix thread ftw)

I thought the gems store was to get convenience items and cosmetic items. But this is a whole different mechanic that you can’t find anywhere else.
Then again transmutation stones are essentially the same.
The only place where this is viable is fractals agony resistance.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
Considering how much has come out this month I think 1 or 2 lazy achievements can be excused.
new skills, new fractals including mistlock instabilities, skill balance, pvp glory rebalance, rebalancing some of the wintersday, and conclusion of the tower of nightmares.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
Now I want to sabotage these attempts by bringing the gift of the side that is supposed to be winning to the other side. xD

I must say, everyone had problems getting money at the start, and alot of people were saying that this game asks for way too much taxes on things.
Every time a new person starts playing I hear “this game is so bad on rewards, I have no money at all.” TBH I struggled quite a bit myself, but recently I am around 200 gold at all times. And when i get below that it does indeed become hard to actually earn back money. Nowadays you just run fractals a dungeon or tequatl and you have 1 gold or more. That and doing achievement chests give quite a bit too.
I must say though that as a new player youre not likely to get into dungeons and achievement hunting or map completion right away.
Funnier was the person trying to convince me that the Trading post has no gold sink. But that’s a different story.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
I must agree, the rewards for 7 weeks of WvW are pretty minimal. I would’ve at least expected something like, a finisher for ever server based on their rank. Or a minipet of Season 1 Rank, whatever. Just something to show off for your server rank.
However, I see WvW as the most imbalanced game mode there is, and in my view it would be completely stupid if the rewards were that different from eachother. I mean, the server transferring nonsense doesn’t deserve any form of substantially different reward in my view. WvW is still super unbalanced, and people that do play WvW on a slightly less popular server would just get screwed over. Im glad that the differences between rewards are at least appropriate.
Ingame Name: Guardian Erik
It’s just as reliable as any arguments that are being made otherwise.
EDIT: So I did some research myself here, because everyone is lackluster to do so and went back to some posts about 50+ fractals and when this was made impossible:

with this Argument you are ok if pvp rank gets reseted every new map .. or if they implement a new better mmr because you know everything is new and stuff… same for wvw rank when they introduce new mechanics because it’s changed the gamemode so all should start on equal ground from when the gamemode changed ( wich means wvw rank reset…)
if you ok with this ok.. but don’t complain about ppl who think this is unfair
I am not complaining, I was simply stating my opinion. If you disagree that is fine.
I don’t think PvP rank and WvW rank are all the same as fractal level, so obviously there is a different concept for either of those. Let’s say ArenaNet would make it easier to get PvP ranks or WvW ranks. I mean, they did this before with gladiator ranks in GW1, and really people that got really high were still complaining, saying that things were so different right now that it was easier to get.
In a sense, the new 30+ fractals are a new game mode, so people should start on equal ground from that, especially when making it into a leaderboard.
Perhaps in order to show an old school leaderboard for the old school fractals could be an idea, but I doubt anyone who got that high really cares for that.
That’s why I proposed for people who attained such high ranks to still be able to pick that difficulty level they had attained before while starting out at reward level 30. In that sense, “progress” isn’t lost, leaderboards aren’t negatively affected, only the reward level they had gotten before is set back a little. Actually, leaderboards could work independently from the fractals in-game and set everyone at 30 adding +1 whenever they attempt a higher level fractal.
That said, I don’t know what level of rewards they have set out, so people might get certain rewards much easier, simply because they got there in a different version of it. Or the progression might be fine for someone who goes through it naturally, while people that want to attempt at a higher level straight away might run into numerous problems, like lack of AR, lack of knowledge of the new fractals and such things and fail miserably.
As for what level is “supposed” to be attained:
On the wiki:
Difficulty 51-80 is not intended to be unlocked at the moment, Jade Maw’s agony kills instantly at 50+. However, some players unlocked these levels before that blockade was implemented and are still able to open them. Odd difficulties can be completed (including potential level progression for other players), but reward the same as the lower tier.
Thus setting everyone to level 50 should be just fine, as there’s no increase in reward above lvl 50.
Hell is if it’s a possibility, set Mistlock instabilities at lvl 50+.
