Five more days of this same matchup is going to get really boring. This entire day we’ve controlled 100% of eternal battlegrounds. Dozens of our siege weapons circle the exit of our two opposing server spawns areas. It has gotten to the point where they don’t even approach us anymore =’(

Playing on eredon terrace is really messed up. Instant queues for the 3 citadel battles, and 4 to 6 hour for eternal today. Always outnumbered on the 3, so we have a crazy long time for a fair fight.

Please stop Superman from coming to WvW.

I am so sick and tired of the hackers.

Running super fast. Flying. Teleporting. Clipping walls. Building siege where nobody can legitimately reach.

Stealing orbs and building siege is outright gamebreaking.

I almost always get 1 or 2 badges when landing a finisher. I have about 300 badges and have used plenty. Pretty easy to farm when if you use support and survival traits and utilities to lead the mob. Just press F a lot.

I make make more gold leveling 1 to 40 the farming at 80. Too many gold sinks at high levels and low level loot is worth far more gold.

As was known long ago, WvW is pay to win. Does everyone in your guild buy gold? Oh goodie unlimited siege and all the upgrades. Golems run amuk.

Gold shouldnt factor in to keep upgrades at all.

The problem with thief was large damage output by spamming a button. This directly addresses that. Now thieves will need to play as intended, utilizing stealth transitions, rear attacks, and timing large blows before enemies can use heals.

Skilled thieves shouldn’t feel affected by this.

Do people with nighttime shift jobs get payed less because they aren’t on mainstream hours?

With the exception of manufacturing, yes, they do. Go ask any human resources manager if you’d like confirmation.

Now regarding your beef with WvW complaints. I for one find it annoying that I can play from 5 to 10 p.m. and have participated with a team that perform exceptionally well, perhaps having taken majority control of eternal battlegrounds. Only to go to sleep, and another server with a much larger oceanic, Asian, or whatever population undo all that hard work just because of their superior number of active PvP players during their prime time hours (while the majority sleeps). If those players were spread even across all servers instead of gathered in a select few, then it would be fair.

I see no resolution to this problem. And yes, I know some people do not see this as a problem. However if you’re someone that cares about server rankings, then it is difficult to not acknowledge the issue. I just wish North American servers had been region locked by IP address range from the get-go. From a customer service aspect it would be bad news to force free transfers upon other regions, even if they accepted the benefits of a local datacenter. Then there are still the population issues.

Anyway. If and when we start to see new PvP battleground types (that ANet promised!), hopefully some that last maybe 1 to 4 hours, I predict a mass exodus from WvW. WvW would probably end up being a resource farming ground.

If I could play one single epic battle style PvP match start to finish during a single gameplay session, well then that would just be great.

As it is, newer players that are unaware of the supply/upgrade mechanics can really impede the defence of site.

So explain it to them.

It’s also possible for an unsporting team to use players on another server to ensure there’s never any supply for upgrades in a fortification.

Without a doubt “top teams” are using slave accounts to drain enemy fortification resources prior to siege. Guaranteed.

Siege Golems are overpriced.

One gold cost is ridiculous.

1.6g cost 800 gems which cost $10. Either pay up or farm blood, bones, or scales for two hours to afford a golem.

In 2v2 battles where players have interrupts and stuns, whichever side has someone downed first is at an advantage. Rallying needs nerfed.

I’ve found the issue present on any computer build. Top of the line or mediocre. Same exact problem. Tried every variation of graphics settings. Latest official or beta drivers.

Idea: allow players to open a bot reporting window. If 8 players report then the offender is prompted with a CAPTCHA entry. If they fail to enter correctly in 10 minutes they are logged off and require another CAPTCHA entry to logon. A ticket is then submitted for GM review.

There are groups of game hackers that will buy a dozen copies of a pc game (or steal accounts) just to cheat with each one for a few weeks until bans occur. Blizzard and valve/steam games use delayed bans so it’s no problem for them. Punk buster games which are immediate bans rely on publicly available signatures of hacks to perma ban, so they just modify code slightly themselves to circumvent anti cheat for a long while before caught.

Community and game master policed systems are the only truely effective countermeasure. Since you can’t even submit an in game support ticket, I’m doubtful of the response time on cheaters. I mean look at how many days it took for action to be taken against exploiters and bots after launch.

He’ll probably just get a 3 day ban. Because, ya know, exploiting and ruining the economy is a slap on the wrist, so obviously hacking the game client and ruining the game for 600 people is okay.

If they perma ban users for making gold using exploits I bet perma ban hammer comming for WvW exploiters as well. WvW is the ONLY endgame in GW2. They can’t let them get away with 3 day bans.

They reversed all those permanent bans for gold exploits to just 3 days…

Players that have purchased the “Commander” rank and have a full squad should have the highest priority.

Players that have a full 5 man party should be next in line for priority.

Players who are trying to get into WvWvW by themselves should have the lowest priority.

At $48 a copy and full effectiveness in WvW by level 30, we’re never going to see the end of hackers. They’ll just keep coming back unless the bans occur within hours of use.

This bug actually convinced me to upgrade my PC. I thought dropping two grand on gaming hardware would help, but it doesn’t. At least my FPS jumped from 10 to 40 in WvW gauntlets. Thanks 3770k!

The working on the game reasoning might work if ArenaNet hadn’t advertised that they have a “community team” that doesn’t work on the game or even handle customer support tickets, instead only focuses on the game community. One of their responsibilities is twitter and facebook communications, and they handled booths at gameshows too. Other then that, I don’t know what they do. There are videos from shows like E3 and PAX where the team shows off the game and mentions how they are better then other game developers because their community team exists. They even specifically mention their frequent player communication on the game forums (during the beta testing). I sure wish that persisted today. During beta I actually played with arenanet staff and my input was acknowledged.

Now that I have a complaint list a mile long…

Maybe they are just hiding.

The reason ET is ranked highly is because it is frequently paired with other lower population servers. The other lower population servers are (unofficial) Australian or Asian servers. Thus during US primetime, the opposing servers are empty and ET dominates WvW. Two days ago when I looked at 9 p.m. EST, Eredon Terrace had a score of 24,000, against 1,500 Sea of Sorrows (the Australian sever), and one other which was below 2,500, (forgot which).

Wait what. If These servers are constantly paired against each other how can 1 of them be highly ranked. Wouldn’t these ‘night capping’ servers have huge point leads with no resistance?

I don’t know why the pairing occurs this way, but that is what I have observed. Regarding night capping, it is occurring on high pop servers too. On my server, Stormbluff isle for example, we have several large Korean guilds do our night capping which is one reason we’re rated highly. We have a high US prime time population too. Night capping on other servers, like sea of sorrows, is paired with their near empty WvW roster during US peak hours, so a low overall total score – but exceptionally low score/capture rate during US peak hours – right after the resets.

Dragonbrand is right in the middle of the pack here with about 10-30 minute Q’s on average. We also have a very solid group of WvW guilds on our server.

More comments like these please!!! Transfering to Dragonbrand now!! Havn’t tried Dragonbrand yet!

I disagree with 100g or the near $600 in gems you’d have to spend to get the medal, but it is better than the common comparison. Trust me I know! I was a server first grand marshal in WoW Summer 2005. Other players were in awe at the title & gear, as I was disgusted how I wasted three months farming tens of thousands of player kills in hillsbrad foothills.

I guess I just can’t think outside of the box on this subject, cause I can’t think of a good alternative. Many of my favorite commander + team games, like natural-selection or battlefield 2, always have a commander that players know is skilled based off past experiences playing with. However in GW2 I have a difficult time believing these commanders obtained their rank doing anything other then farming blood or scales from level 5 monsters, or worse, received gold acquired from the karma exploit. Either way it doesn’t show their prowess as a battleground tactician.

Northern Shiverpeaks, Eredon Terrace, and Furguson’s Crossing are all fast WvW queue times, but perform badly at WvW.

I dunno Fugly, ET is often against HoD…they can’t perform that badly if they’re facing off against equivalent servers.

It was in beta forum, which is now closed. It’s not on google cache, so I can’t locate it. The discussions were regarding the potential repercussions of multiple timezone WvW matches. This was when arenanet’s team was active in forum discussions, and was after the NDA was lifted.

If you convince them to region lock to the majority, what happens if NA turns out to be less of a majority than you first considered? China, Japan, Korea, SEA and Australia. It’s a big market to “lock out” just because you are asleep.

It is logical. It is also what competing MMO games do. In fact, it is expected. Also, since arenanet acknowldged the issue, I expected it. Entitlement doesn’t factor in here. You didn’t think it was weird that they waited until just before launch to announce server regions?

I would move to a lower population server right away if I knew that at any time on the WvW battlefield, that my opposing servers also had the exact same number of players. Unfortunately that is not the case.

If you knew at any time the opposing server had the exact same number of players, you wouldn’t need to (or even be able to) move to a lower population server…

I am refering to WvW battleground population. In case you didn’t notice, the populations are not split 1/3 each. Often the medium population servers (as seen on the server select screen) find themselves far outnumbered on the WvW battlefield.

Fort Aspenwood is bad now. Back in beta we dominated everyone. Now all the people that want to win came to Fort Aspenwood and sapped our slots in WvW and the good PVPers left.

Sure we can get organized but its super hard. I lead a group and took Dreadfall bay(hehe the enemy didnt see that coming) but since then Fort Aspenwood has gone down hill. Though as for our opponents we seem to be matched against good opponents as the scoring is on equal grounds now.

But anyhow Fort Aspenwood isn’t very good anymore and Queue times are as bad at launch as all our good PVPers left for the most part and few remain. But we sure have a lot of casual players in queue who literally come in to WvW to PVE and thats no joke.

Are you sure you’re not just being paired against the top servers? Stormbluff isle was in 1st place, by far, in every match for the entire first week. Then we started to get paired with servers like henge and gotta whooped bad. Now we’re back against previously lower bracket servers who worked their way back up, and we’re beating them badly. It would be a lot easier to understand if we could actually see the global server scoreboard!!! Stormbluff isle also had a huge population WvW players which just farm npcs. This is not the case on many servers though.

All I play is support in WvW. Water elementalist with moderate +healing, but the primary support function is removing conditions and maintaining and stacking 4 boons on allies all times. Since I use 3 cantrips, I frequently push forward while scared guardians stay in the mob. This also allows for me to land final blows on down players, and thus aquire a large amount of marks, while always having an escape mechanism. I also trait for reviving players faster. I have never felt ineffective and know I contribute more then most others in capturing a fortified objective.

I guess I don’t understand what your issue is. If it is about looting more marks, then all you need to do is land final blows on downed players. That’s it. That’s how you get the most marks.

I have also observed enourmous population imbalance. Like worse then 2 times as many players on one server over the others. If it isn’t 33.3% each, it needs fixed immediately.

I just had a 2005 Alterac Valley nostalgic moment!

I’d rather see it in a new GW2 battleground type, preferably with far less siege, smaller skirmish battles, unique weapons with limited charges, power-ups, but still the same large populations for the rare chokepoint zergfest (hopefully just a fraction of what we see now though). Multiple big giant boss battles would be great.

I really hope the devs start rolling out lots of different PvP maps.

WvW needs a much MUCH more advanced player contribution and scoreboard system. Everyone should be able to see their own, or anyone elses contribution to the battle. Whether it be over the last 5 minutes or the last 5 days. This is crucial to resolving the majority of issues my friends and I have. Wouldn’t it be great if you knew that your guildies contributed more in their 3 hours game session than that other guild did in their 6 hours? How about a reward for that success?

Stormbluff isle is a top ranked WvW server and has an equally long queue time of 5 hours.
The following 3 have very fast queues. However you’ll want to know the following, in addition to their always last place status.
Sea of Sorrows is also an unofficial oceanic server.
Sorrow’s Furnace and Baruch Bay are unofficial spanish speaking servers.
Darkhaven is an unofficial Brazilian server.

Fort Aspenwood was medium population since launch, and started to hit high in primetime, so that is worth a look. However I don’t know how well they perform in WvW.

Obtaining commander status via gold is the single dumbest thing i’ve seen arenanet do regarding PvP. The title should be EARNED, not purchased.

This issue has nothing to do with client settings. I have tried every combination of every graphics settings on two different computers with two different brand graphics cards.

I have spent almost as many hours swapping servers and taking notes of server WvW communities, strategy, and point history, primetime US population, off-hour foreign player population, etc, as I have playing the game. I feel differently. I have yet to find a single server with a fast queue time that has enjoyable WvW. It’s not the players, commanders, or anything like that that eliminates the fun. The problem is the population imbalance. If get into WvW right away, that’s great. But now i’m playing against two servers with a much larger force. That is just stupid. The teams should always be equal in number of players at all times, but that is not the case. WvW population inbalance is very obvious just by observing how completely outnumbered the medium population servers are in WvW.

My personal opinion: Retaliation is too strong in WvW

Making siege and mortars immune to retaliation is a huge nerf to elementalists and rangers in WvW.

I did not experience this problem right after the game went live, before the player limits in WvW occurred. I still do not experience it in medium size battles where are all servers are medium population.
