Blood fiend doesn’t deal as much, and doesn’t deal spike damage. And people still use it. This skill can provide over 5k armor ignoring damage in a short period of time.

And they showed off all of the healing skills, gave their numbers, animations etc. I’m basing my opinion off of that, having seen all of them. Granted, I am somewhat biased since it fits a certain build me and my friend have been running perfectly, but if I can think of uses for it I’m sure you can too.

Getting 5g/hr in pve does take groups with knowhow, good comps, and good gear. But getting consistent wins in pvp also takes teamwork, skill, and practice. I think that being able to get 2-3g/hr for doing well in team q’s would be nice, and with the current gold rates I can’t see that happening.

Pretty happy with this, but I have a couple major problems. First off, I think the gold rewards are a little small for soloq and team q. I thought the hotjoin reward was right on, but I think soloq should be at least 30s for a win and team q at least 50s. I know that you don’t want rewards to be as high as dungeon spamming, but it seems like for team q this would be at most like 1g/hour, when I can make 5g/hr in pve easily. I think that being able to make 2-3g/hr from pvp wouldn’t be unreasonable. The other thing is that 25 skill points is a bit steep for players who are hardcore pvpers, and only do pvp. I have several friends like that, and it is going to be really hard for them to get these skills, even with the tomes for glory.

I like every single one of these heals a lot, actually. What is your problem with the engineer one? The impression I got was that it is a delayed heal, but if you have it activated when you would have gone down, it gives you a large heal.

Please reward players who have been dedicated to pvp all along by making the gold rewards at least partially retro active. Give us 1% every day so that the economy does not get flooded.

Oh my god, reading this is depressing lol. You guys should not be trying to change one of the best elites in the game, for one of the strongest professions in the game. The dev is right, guards are more than usable in top tier pretty much anywhere, and if you don’t think that you must be pretty blind.

Gonna have to agree with eura. Power ranger is very strong in many ways, and if it lacks anything it’s not damage. I still think it could be a little stronger, but with other classes getting weaker in comparison, I think it could see a place in the new meta.

I understand that spotter is nice, and I am sure I could work it into the build. But as it is, I like being thirty points into BM, as pets are the reason I play the class and I like them to be a strong part of my build. If you want to go for optimized speed runs, though, you are probably right that you should include spotter (20 points into marks for anyone who doesn’t know). However, the build as is works very well and I’ve had no complaints or issues with run times while using it.

Let me know what you guys think, and if you have any ideas for possible improvements to the build. So far every dungeon I have done with it has been quick and smooth, and for those worried about spirits and your pet dying too often, it really is not nearly a big of a problem as you would think. My pet rarely dies, and my spirits are usually up for the duration of any fight, and since the cd on them is now 20s, it doesn’t take long before they are back up anyways.

Like I said before, this build is made to be used in dungeons. Here, I will outline the strengths of the build. First of all, it has strong damage output in melee range. You won’t do as much damage as a berserker warrior, obviously, but you hit rather hard, have lots of quickness, and your pet hits hard as well. The main thing this build brings to the table is support, though. Frost spirit increases the DPS of all party members by 7%, storm spirit adds massive swiftness for moving between fights easily and also does damage with the active, and stone spirit gives copious amounts of protection to the party. For some fights, you can switch your elite to nature spirit as well. You also give fury, might, and swiftness with your warhorn, and your jungle cat gives 5 stacks of might for 19 1/2 seconds. Having protection, as well as a decent amount of armor and hp, plus having hp on crit from omnomberry pie and lots of dodges makes this build very survivable as well. If you want to optimize, go for more berserker armor pieces and do everything expertly, but if you want to give yourself more room for mistake put on some knights pieces. It also depends on your team comp, so just mix and match as the situation requires. Anyways, just thought I would share this build with you guys, since I have been having a lot of fun with it and it is a nice change of pace from my full glass cannon ranged ranger. I would recommend keeping a ranged weapon on you, for fights where it is absolutely necessary to range, but those times are rare.

Hey guys, just wanted to post my new ranger build that I have been having a lot of fun with. It is designed for use in dungeons, where you melee almost everything. It is not designed for fotm. Now, the armor is left blank because I carry two armor sets with me for the build. I have a berserker’s set and a knight set, and I mix and match pieces depending on how tanky I need to be. You can use standard dps runes or ruby orbs on the berserkers set, and sapphire orbs or tankier runes (I like using 5 earth) on the knights set. The sigils are also up to you, I like using sigil of the night since I mostly do dungeons at night, and I have bloodlust on the warhorn. Like I said, the link is just a general guide for the build. I’ll make another post in a second to talk a bit about the build.

After the patch, I made a kitten full melee ranger build for dungeons, with sword warhorn and greatsword, and a combination of knights and berserker’s gear, depending on how tanky I need to be. It has 30 points in nature magic, and 30 points in beastmastery… Should try it out if you like working with your pet. Does great damage, has good survivability, and great team support.

I posted this in the general dec 10 patch preview thread, but I thought it would be relevant here.
I like a lot of these changes. One small thing I would like to suggest is that you reduce the cast time on Heal as One on ranger to 1s or 3/4s, as this heal is rarely used and I think that at 3/4s cast it would work well in a power ranger build. The other thing is, I like that the enlarge trait is going to trigger off of the signet, but with it 20 points into the nature line, it’s not really a good choice for power ranger, which is the main build that would use it. If it was 10 points in, you could go 30/30/0/10/0, and run a power signet build, which would be cool, but if you are forced to go 20 points in to pick up that trait, you have to sacrifice way too much (10% crit dmg, 10% flanking dmg, 100 prec, as well as moving the 10 points from wild survival). Not sure what you can do on this one, but I would recommend switching that trait with something from the minor tier, like Nature’s Bounty or something.

Also, I have been wanting to run a power healing bomb support build forever, so the change to bomb healing is great, but have you guys considered increasing the power scaling on bomb auto a bit, or making it more interesting somehow? As it is, even if you stack power, healing, and toughness, you end up pretty squishy and can’t apply enough pressure/healing to be as useful as another support.

Just wanted to say that this time it was even better than the last Really guys, great design. It is fun, challenging, clever, and exciting. I have only dabbled slightly in TM, but I am sure I will have a great time in there. One thing I really like about SAB so far is the difficulty curve… It feels spot on with a lot of old school games. The first level is about as difficult as a first level is, and the second level is about as difficult as a second level should be. The only small gripe I have is that I think it should be a bit more rewarding. After the arduous climb up the mountain and fierce battle with the storm wizard, the sense of personal satisfaction was great, but the 2 bubble baubles and continue coin I got felt almost like a slap in the face. I feel that content which has rewards built into it is much better when those rewards feel in line with the effort required to obtain them. Anyways, that’s all, just wanted to say great work and keep it up

Also, something interesting that people have brought up is maybe giving rangers a “trap kit”, which would work similar to engineer kits. I think this would be cool, but some balance work might have to be done, and I think it should have a cd unlike engi kits.
