Cripple does not do all that much to keep people inside your traps… A little bit, but not that much.
I like how they reduced the cooldown on guard so much, too.
This would make me very sad :/ To be honest, I would probably quit if this was the case.
Omg Phaeton I feel sorry for you, so many people on these forums are stupid, trolls, or just don’t think x.x Hopefully you help some people out though.
Not David~
A phoenix skin is probably somewhere in their Future plans.
It just didn’t make sense in Tyria b/c it’s NOT A TYRIAN SPECIES. …Duh…
Might as well complain about there not being white tigers everywhere too.
(disregarding certain very pale striped Charr of course).
Who is complaining? o.0 Just talking about pet ideas… Isn’t that the kind of thing forums are for?
Wikipedia says the Chinese phoenix is known for residing in areas blessed with prosperity and happiness. Perhaps the activated move for one of them could create a small circle of healing/protection, or random boons.
Durzlla.6295 Oh you are right. My mistake, I should have looked up the myth beforehand as I thought they seemed different! Go ahead and post some stuff, if you want. But it seems like the Chinese phoenix stood for fire/the sun to some, so one of the subtypes could still be a fire themed phoenix, similar to the European one.

Hey. Anyone who played GW1 remembers being able to tame a phoenix. I would love to see this in GW2, I have a few basic ideas for it and would like to know what you guys think/some ideas of your own. I was thinking it would have higher than average vitality, and perhaps precision. The special ability would create a fire combo field for a short time, and blind/burn nearby foes with ash for 3s on maybe a 1/2 second cast time and 40 recharge. With the new traits, there could be a new trait that when a phoenix you have equipped dies, it is revived, causing a blast finisher and giving nearby allies vigor and regen for a short period. That would have some kind of cooldown, probably 60 or 90 seconds. Anyways, feel free to discuss! Some ideas for the normal moves would be cool too, and opinions about if you want more pet families or not.
Vitality isn’t a popular stat option because after you lose the initial extra hp in a fight, it becomes dead weight. It helps with that first push or the beginning of a 1v1, sure, but in any prolonged fight it is not going to be very effective. I think the way to fix this is make healing skills % based, with healing power just increasing that %. This would require a decent amount of work to implement correctly, though.
I come back on Sunday, and Kirito is the perfect 5th, we’ve all been playing together for a long time now
I hope to god Darthypoo is you lol.
Yo dawg, you better save a spot for me on that team. I won’t be in NY forever :P
Noda~
I would love to see this map regularly in the tournament rotation… Definitely keeps things fresh, forces people to rethink their builds and strategies, which is what I think a new map should do.
I endorse Kirito :P He’s a fun, chill guy who can play pretty much anything.
Still looking for a serious tournament team. Hit me up!
Hello, this is O Necromancer O, or maybe you know me as Not David. I’m looking for a competitive NA team, my best hours to play uninterrupted are 7 pm EST and later, though I am usually on throughout the day as well. I would like to play necro for now, but I am also very experienced with ranger. I’m very good at communicating, and I understand tactics pretty well + always willing to learn more and I am very flexible with what the team needs. Go ahead and send me a message or leave me a mail in game, or post here, though in game is preferred. Willing to try out or whatever, and just ask me if you need more info. Also, although I am serious about being competitive, I am not looking for a team of ragelords. I’d like to have fun while crushing our way to the top
Rank 39, lots of tournament experience, very experienced with BM ranger (655 tourn games, 384 wins) games and currently learning Necro. I can play either, but have been having a lot of fun on Necro, would love to play it on a competitive scale. I play often with friends, but am looking for a strong core team for more competitive play. My best time to play is any day besides Saturday after 8 PM EST. Message me at Not David, post here, or leave a message in my in game inbox. Thanks

I opened over 150 crates, no ticket.
Thanks for the response Jsharp
Glad to hear you are planning to do something about this. I remember in GW1 I was always very glad to get faction, I’m hoping that some day I will feel the same way about glory in GW2.
Am I the only one that thinks pvp rewards need a complete overhaul? There is very little to spend glory on, and opening boxes doesn’t feel exciting at all because most likely you already have everything, and have to annoyingly salvage all of it. I would REALLY like to see something like Zaishen keys from guild wars 1, or some kind of gem/gold rewards.
Also, nice lottery story. I love those kind of stories, where people use mathematics to cheat gambling. Too bad I couldn’t do that here :P
It’s not cheating. They didn’t do anything other than spend enough money to cover enough of the numbers to hit enough times on the weeks when the payoff is substantially higher. Now all the state did then was limit the number of tickets sold at each dealer for that event per day at a threshold that doesn’t impact day to day sales but impact these groups who are buying 100,000 tickets. The same amount of money is still rewarded, just unlikely to end up at these “companies”.
Poor wording on my part. I suppose I should have said something like “use mathematics to take advantage of loopholes in gambling systems”

Other (possibly) discontinued such as the Halloween weapons are different, because they are tradable.
Thanks for all the interesting comments guys. @Arganthium, you are focusing on the wrong aspect. The goal for me was to get one of the weapon skins no matter how much I had to spend. If they kept the crates in the game, I would spend more money until I eventually got a ticket, because I want one. If the only way to get precursors was through the forge, would everyone just stop going for legendaries? The only reason I’m concerned here is the limited time window to get these items. I’m sure there are other players who really want them, but simply can’t get them, especially if I couldn’t with my funds. I think that is a bit silly, and that anet should either make them reasonably obtainable during the time of the event for people that really want them, or not discontinue them. I don’t really care for the fused weapons, but the same goes for them.
Which is why I wanted to get one before they are gone, even if it cost me all my savings. If I had spent all my money, and gotten a ticket on the last crate, I would not be upset that it took me 600g. I am only upset because it doesn’t look like I will be able to get one of these skins before they are gone, despite my efforts.
Obviously as already stated and as you know RNG is RNG. When spending money on them you know there is not a guarantee and it’s a risk. It’s also not required to purchase them from the Trading Post since you can get the crates as drops in Southsun.
I didn’t buy any crates from the Trading Post. I’ve gotten about 20 from drops and have received 1 weapon claim ticket.
That’s great for you, but as I stated earlier I mainly pvp now, and I don’t even want to think about how many karka I would have to kill to get the number of crates that I bought. The money I had was savings from when I did pve, and I know it is RNG but you can’t tell me that 600g+ and no ticket is not a little ridiculous. These items aren’t even that high demand, I just personally happen to really like the skins.

Well, I have been pvping a lot recently and really wanted a sclerite weapon to use there. So, I decided to sue my savings and try to get one. Over 600g spent…. Probably about 150 crates opened, and now I am left with nothing. Seriously? I feel cheated x.x Hopefully in the future anet will not release items that are only obtainable through ridiculous gambling.
I noticed no one posts what ELSE they got, could you list that so that it doesn’t look biased like you literally got 0 drops from every drop after 150. And how much that stuff netted you on TP.
Sure, I can do that. I don’t really want to pull up all my trading post records, but I got a ton of passiflora/fruits/karka shells obviously, 2 minis that were 17g each, 1 mini worth 3g, a couple tiki masks and shark/consortium skins that were pretty worthless. Altogether it was worth maybe 70g? I used that money to buy some more crates. Oh, and two single use mobile crafting station and a single use mobile mystic forge.

Is there anything I can do about this besides just suck it up? I really wanted at least one of those weapons, and now it looks like I’ll never be able to get one :/

I don’t like the idea of Jaguar stealthing us too… First of all, it makes no sense, and second of all, it would be bad while trying to hold a point in spvp.
Guys, I am here to give you a bit of advice. Instead of complaining about stuff, actually think hard about it and figure out how to counter it. Ranger downed state is OP underwater, I will give you that, but a simple blind or stability will allow you to quickly finish a ranger. If they are using canine pet switches, stability also works… But even with all that, I usually don’t have much problem stomping a ranger without blind or stability.
Are you talking about spvp or wvw? Because in spvp, thieves are not contesting points while they are stealthed, meaning that in my opinion it works pretty much as intended. No, you won’t be able to kill them 1v1 unless you get lucky/they are not good, but while they are stealthed you an cap points etc. I don’t really play wvw though, which is probably what you are talking about.
Nevermind, I found the final one in Sea of Sorrows.
If anybody knows a server in which all 3 items in wayfarer foothills are working, please let me know. In game name is Not David. Thank you
I often run with 15 BM, but right now I am running 0 BM and full berserker.
I feel like anet has gotten bolder with their balances and it has payed off. Ranger keeps moving more and more in the right direction. For me all that’s left to be done is some very minor improvements on some weapons and an overhaul of spirits. Keep it up!
I went with my trusty Jaguar Shadow and my faithful Murellow Cancer Bear. This dungeon is very ranger friendly, and was really quote awesome. I just wish the rewards were better :/
Cool. But the name makes me cringe.
I’ve seen this same idea posted a few times in the past. Personally, I would hate that as the reason that I play ranger is I love animals and the idea of having a pet. The whole spirit animal thing just doesn’t do it for me.
Oh yeah good suggestion Fred, that would work just as well.
I really love dolyaks, and really love the dolyak /rank emote. But I still want to rank up in pvp, while still having the option to use that emote. How hard would it be to put a feature like this in the game? Either one where you could type /(animal name) to use that emote, or give us a little checkbox area in the pvp hero tab to choose what our default /rank emote is. Not sure if this suggestion has been made before, my apologies if there is another thread.
Yeah, in GW1 they did that towards the end and it actually worked really well.
But anyways, why are you talking about TW in the ranger forum? o.0
Yeah, I was not saying his math was right, just explaining how I think he got to the numbers he did. And I think that people should clarify a bit more whether they are talking about pve or pvp when they say OP. Some things are too strong or too weak in pve, and some things are too strong or too weak in pvp. That’s why there should be more skill splits instead of blanket nerfs/buffs.
Oo, I thought it might be something like that! Cool.
QZ not worth it anymore IMO. 4 seconds of 100% quickness increased DPS by an effective 400%. Now it’s 5 seconds of 50%, which is 250% effectively. That’s a 37.5% decrease in overall power over time.
Not worth it. Reroll something else. Not sure what I’m actually going to be doing with my zerker ranger that’s got more than 250+ gold in it.
Mathwars 2…
4 seconds of old quickness buff your dps during that time by, well, …
100%.
During 8 seconds(still 4 seconds of em quickness), the dps rose by 50%.
And during 1 second, again, 100%.I just can’t see that 400% anywhere in there. Maybe, you could enlighten me?
This seemed ridiculous to me as well, but I think he got his numbers in the following way. 4 seconds of +100% for the 400%, and 5 seconds of +50% for the 250%. Anyways, as for what I do, I still often run QZ but as always I switch up my utilities based on the fight or my mood.
It seems like a lot of people don’t like the idea of throwing axes. I am not sure why. Some nice ideas, but hunter’s call does have certain depth to it that you are missing. It’s DoT that can’t be removed.
I get off school in less than 2 weeks. I’d be down then. Go rangers!
Add me as Not David.
kittenING AMAZING!
