Mostly soloq aside from a few duoq/trioq. Played revenant every single game.
Highest winstreak: 44
Highest losing streak: Not sure, 2 or 3 from trioqing with pve friends at the start of season.
52 wins, 7 losses at legend.
This seems like a common picture this season, and I don’t know if I like that…
I don’t know how much it has to do with age of account. I went through ruby and diamond without a single loss on my main and only account, which has been there since beta. That still shouldn’t happen though, something is definitely wrong with the matchmaking algorithms this season. It seems to highly favor people with high MMR, my guess is so that it can quickly “boost” them to their “deserved” division. The problem that it is a bit too much and that it doesn’t seem to stop even once you reach legend, causing tons of bad games. Once competitive players reach legend, they want good matches so they can improve their skills, not stomps/getting stomped.
Not saying they should remove it though, just adjust.

I agree the MMR is silly though, I won 44 soloq’s in a row and got to legend without losing a single game in diamond/ruby late season. That is a bit much.
People who should be higher ranks get there quite easily. The toxic people never had high MMR in the first place, or else they would be winning.
Yeah, I know all of this. Hence why it is a joke. I got legend early on in season 1 and 2 and it was also easy.
Currently, one you have the wings and the llama, if you want them, there is almost no use for the reward tickets from pvp. Please add some new rewards, even it is is just material bags or something.
Using a Phoenix Down…
:D Exactly, Dahkeus. Good post!
Thanks for all the comments and support guys
Looks like mostly positive responses. I will keep this going!
Also, perhaps have half the cages have a few pillars inside for LOS and the other half bare.
Oh to make another note about some details. Suggestions I have are when the duel is over, kicking the loser out and not allowing them to rejoin for 2 minutes, and if the fight takes longer than 3 minutes kicking both players out and not letting them rejoin for two minutes. This would be to ensure that players aren’t left waiting too long to get into a duel.
Thanks for the support, I had this idea a while ago and figured it was something people would be interested in. I will try to upkeep the thread and hopefully a dev or two will get wind of it and comment.
The title says it all, basically. I suggest that they add dueling cages to the spvp lobby so that you can duel people while you wait for your queue to pop. Add several cages that you can just walk up to and interact with, upon which you will be placed inside and can fight someone else who enters. Constructive feedback or voicing of support welcome.
Normally I do activate IO before the stomp, for that reason. Maybe I fudged it, who knows. Regardless, I do feel this should be fixed. Glad to hear I am not the only one though!
So in pvp something has happened to me on three separate occasions. It seems like a bug but if anyone has another explanation I would be glad to hear it. What happened was I was stomping a necromancer on my revenant, using quickness from impossible odds, and it did the fast animation stomp which completed (I didn’t get interrupted/feared or anything) but the stomp did not go through. It’s strange to me that this happened all 3 times against a necro, but maybe that is coincidence. Anyways, just thought I would post this since in 2/3 of those scenarios it turned out to have a significant impact on the game.
You need 11 achievements completed in each tier, there are more than 11 available. So you don’t have to do that one.
I have a male character and I love my Kudzu… I think it’s more bound to class than gender. It fits the theme of ranger really well, and I suppose it also fits sylvari really well. In nature, kudzu is a plant that is basically like a mega weed, it spreads really quickly and takes everything over, dominating the landscape. I found that pretty cool/fitting for a ranger’s legendary weapon. Dreamer on the other hand is way too tacky for my taste…
A lot of premades are not even in TS or anything. If that’s the case, the main advantage they have over you is getting to choose your comp. So, to counter that, if you see soloq has dealt you a terrible comp, try to switch to something that will make your comp better if you can. Just one thing you can do to make your odds better.
14937 top stats, 8292 games played. so ~1.8 per game. Top stats don’t really matter, though.
A few small things I thought should be changed are the following:
Staff 2 and 4: Cast time feels too long at 3/4 seconds, felt very clunky to use. Reduce cast time a bit, maybe to 1/2 second.
Staff 3: Make it not do the whole animation if you move shorter than the full distance.
Celestial Form: I love the celestial form but generating “star force” on a condition build is very difficult. Please make condition damage generate star force, and perhaps increase the amount of force gained from physical/condition damage a bit.
Glyphs: The trait for glyphs is very good but the glyphs themselves seem rather lackluster. Personally I’d like a 1/4 second cast time on these, and maybe some improved effects. I think one of the glyphs being a stunbreak with 3 stacks of stab for 5-10s on a shortish CD would improve the druid experience in PvP a lot.

Hello everyone. I am making this thread just to ask what people’s opinions would be on a class redesign for ranger, similar to what they did for mesmer in GW1. This thread isn’t about HOW they should change it, there are plenty of other threads for that
I just thought it would be interesting to see how people would feel about this. To clarify for people who didn’t play GW1, or didn’t play it at the time they did the revamp, mesmer was fairly lacking in pve for a while in GW1 so they did a big redesign where they drastically changed a large number of skills, and breathed some new life into the class.
I think part of the problem is that people seem to love jerks. A lot of bigtime streamers in various games taunt and belittle people all the time, and people love watching it. I personally have never found it very entertaining.
Knowing who to target is actually more complicated than just targeting certain builds/classes first. If you want to play at the highest level you can, you should watch for cds and pay attention to both you and the opposite team’s positioning. Squishy targets are obvious priorities, but if they are not putting out much pressure and are focusing mainly on avoiding you, it can be a good idea to switch to a tankier target that is out of position and low on cds. For instance, you start by targeting a mesmer but your team fails to burst them properly and they stealth/reposition, but you just noticed an engi in the middle of mid point who popped his heal and gear shield/elixir S. You should probably switch targets to the engi and quickly burst him down before his cds are back up and/or he repositions. This is more important for team play, where you can communicate these things and your team will switch targets with you, but it is good to do in soloq with competent people as well.

3. Its copying ESO and Final Fantasy to the Cheesiest degree
I’m pretty sure hunting dragons wasn’t invented by those titles.
One game had the Dragonborn, the other Befriended a dragon from birth. yet still fight dragons. So fine, even if we don’t Need the close association with dragons to have Dragon in the class spec, Why are guardians any better at hunting Dragons than every other class. its just too broad a term for a name to give to a Specialty.
How in the world did you get any of that out of my statement? You said the name was cheesy and accused it of ripping off of other games, I said dragons are not limited to Final Fantasy and ESO. That argument was off, which is why I pointed it out. I didn’t say you were wrong for not liking the spec name or that the spec name even made sense.
Its more about timing, than ripping someone off, its too common now to use the idea of dragonhunting and far too broad for a class Spec. I’m glad you see it doesn’t make sense as well.
Well seeing as the story of Guild Wars 2 revolves around the elder dragons, namely us fighting them, I think it makes a lot of sense to have people specialize in hunting them. And how is dragon hunting broad? If anything, it is rather specific. More specific than hunting, more specific than big game hunting, more specific than flying big game hunting. It is dragon hunting. Anet decided that the advanced techniques of guardians were more suited to hunting dragons than the advanced techniques of the other classes, and that is fine by me. (Note that by advanced techniques I mean the skills that classes have been developing/honing into the new elite specializations.)
Except this isn’t just about the PVE story is it? I don’t see any dragons in Spvp or WvW. a specialization for big game hunting won’t help you fighting multiple players. the idea is that the specializations should be named accordingly to what they can do.
For example Arbiter: judgement from Afar
Signaller: Artillery guidanceThese more broad terms span pve and pvp and match the flavor this current specialiation more closely than DragonHunter. Names still need to hawken back to the scource of the class itself, and in this case the Holy light magic theme is not represented at all.
I’m dragon rank though… So those dragon hunters can hunt me in pvp

Just want to throw in my two cents. I think Dragon Hunter is a great idea for a specialization because the new specializations are supposed to be skills that denizens of Tyria are just now perfecting. The idea that people would want to learn to hunt dragons seems pretty logical, and you could say that the guardians are training to prepare to guard Tyria from the dragons.
Improving on the beta portal farm idea

Hello, I just wanted to propose a little idea for future events of this type, if there will be any. First of all, I don’t know if I agree with having farming be the only way to get a beta key, but that is another discussion. My idea is that instead of having the portal be one big rare drop, split it up into many pieces with higher drop rate so the RNG spread isn’t so high and people have a sense of progress. Dunno if anyone has suggested this, so I’m sorry if it is a duplicate.
Yeah that’s partially true amir. You do have to be winning games to keep increasing on the LB, but it definitely favors playtime over skill far too much atm. My theory is they are using the test season as a way to gather data, and they will use that data to fine tune it for the real ladders.
But I do know a fair amount about pvp, if you ever want some advice about something feel free to message me in game on Clerics Hambow or Not David. Always like to help out new up and comings.
If you want to see the real best players NA go watch the WTS tournament videos.
Several months ago bunker warrior was really good for carrying soloq’s, it’s not that great any more. I played it for a little while way back when in soloq for fun, but my main is ranger. I played hambow when it was meta though and I play ele now. Clerics Hambow is actually my ele. Right now the good warrior build is like a bunky shouts warrior that can 1v1/team support, but it’s different than it was back then, and I haven’t touched war in a while so I don’t know that much about it.
And we didn’t solo queue.
Honestly me and him just stayed up and queued all night, we only fought a few decent teams, most of the games are just stomps since not that many people were playing.
Also, mesmer is pretty hard to master because if you are playing competitively you are playing shatter, you are very glassy and have to be very good at positioning and timing to stay alive/burst properly.
Currently the LB favors frequency of play too much, but Twity is actually a pretty good player.
Hello, I am a good friend of Twity’s and did a lot of those queues with him. He mostly has been playing standard condi necro recently, but occasionally he hops on mesmer for old times sake or warrior if we are running too much glass.
Hello, this is Not David from Team Teamwork. GS/rifle is what olrun, our warrior, plays. If you want to talk to me about how to make it the most viable/fun in pvp send me a message (Not David is my ign).
20% uptime on projectile reflect from heal skill alone is pretty strong. You wouldn’t really have to run a turrets build for this trait to be useful.
Besides being confined to one build, rangers are strong in pvp. Most top tier teams run one, same with thief. There are some misconceptions nowadays though since ranger used to be a back point 1v1 class, which it is no longer very good at.
Me neither, friend. The main reason I am making this post is because a lot of my friends that I normally pvp with have basically stopped pvping, and gone to pve until the next balance patch. And these are pretty hardcore pvpers, who have stuck with it through a lot.
I thought it might be helpful to make a post letting anet know exactly why the pvp community is upset. Without going into detailed points of balance, the issue simplifies to this: the current meta is not fun to play in, and even if it was, most players like a change of pace now and then. Me and several others in the community continually get the feeling that anet does not understand how un fun it is to play in this bunker meta, which is why I made this post to clearly state that for them. This is why we want to know so badly when the next balance patch is coming, because we would like to have fun again.
This is just lol.
I support 100%. Loved the hall of heroes, and loved the awesome chest at the end. Add something like this to spvp, please <3
Guys, the best way to get this implemented is to continue to stay directly on topic, and to get more people from in game to come and show their support in this thread. Let’s keep this alive and going strong
It was nerfed because back in the day ele was kind of like hambow warrior in spvp. It was too good at everything. The nerf was actually needed back then, but they just kept nerfing eles over and over and now they are in a really bad place :/ To be more clear about why RTL in specific was nerfed: it was an extremely strong disengage skill on a very short cooldown. Rush doesn’t move you as far/fast, and thieves do not have near as much tankiness as eles did at the time so they need the teleports more. If an ele got outplayed and was losing a fight, he could just cast a chill and RTL out with ease, and you could basically never kill them so they would just rotate between two points, spike, and leave.
Just looking at the thread it seems that at least the vocal side of the pvp community is strongly in favor of this, and as the OP has shown, it has precedent from GW1. Even people who are not hardcore tpvpers see the fairness of this, and I thank you for that. Here’s hoping that this actually gets implemented!
I actually won two legit 4v5’s last night. Felt really good. But yeah people are not very sportsmanlike in this game… I try to be, if the other team is. And I will yell at my team if they are being kittens for no reason. That being said, I do rage at my team a lot in solo q in hopes that they will get their act together :P
