The economy would be better if it was by server and not all servers
Unless prices settle down soon, I’m going to have to agree. It’s hard to make a profit on anything when there’s hundreds, if not thousands of the same item being sold by other players.
I really hope it is instanced. The game world is incredibly immersive, so I’d hate to have to see the eyesore of player houses at every turn. I’d rather see player housing tied in with our character’s home instance. Then if we want to invite people to come and visit, we can – without affecting other players in any way, shape or form.
I don’t think we should be able to change a character’s race, gender or profession. Those sort of decisions should be permanent as far as I’m concerned. Any character re-customisation should be limited to adjusting a particular character’s appearance and name. Otherwise it just cheapens the game.
Please explain to me how it “cheapens the game”. It doesn’t effect you at all if you don’t choose to race change. If someone else race changes it has ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT on you whatsoever.
Flawed logic. There’s a real sense of accomplishment and even achievements surrounding playing through each race’s personal story. Effort should be required and rewarded. I don’t see much point in allowing people to change their character’s race or profession and it’s not hard to invest in an alt considering how a lot of the essential stuff is account bound.
I vote for your suggestion, I think it’s good to have options.
However I would prefer if they make revealing armor for males first. You females already have a ton of options, having one less (though this one is still plenty revealing) won’t really hurt your options. Males however, are terribly lacking.
Agreed. It just baffles me that every angle of a female’s breast can be shown by certain pieces of armour (aside from the nipples) and yet male characters are forced into being ‘flat’ when it comes to their intimate areas. Why there’s a lack of bulging leather, underwear and large codpieces is beyond me. I’d want it done tastefully, but I do admit that it’s irritating when I see every other female in skimpy attire only to see male characters limited so severely.
My Suggestion: Flight in Guild Wars 2; possible future expansion(?)

But… how would that even fit into lore?
Asuras.
Seriously, thanks to Asuras Anet can add whatever the hell they want and it’d be okay because ‘’ An Asura did it ’’.
Interesting idea though, not sure if I’m for it or not though!
Uh, no. That’s exactly the sort of poorly thought out excuse that made WoW so unbearable as a lore and immersion fan. When anything and everything is added due to logic such as that, any game loses a large chunk of depth.
I can’t speak for Arena Net, but I’m pretty confident that they’re not going to just add anything and everything for the sake of appeasing players when they’ve spent so much time crafting an immersive and richly detailed game world.
There’s no need for it, really. Considering the amount of work that would be required, I’d much rather see resources directed into something more important. If you really want to browse whilst playing, then…just alt tab.
I really wish people would cease making suggestions that directly conflict some of the core mechanics of the game itself. The lack of a reliance on the dreaded trinity is one of the biggest appeals of this game, especially since it rewards those of us who pull their own weight and enjoy engaging combat.
The characters in our home instances really need some flavour dialogue and/or items to bestow upon us from time to time. It’s pretty disappointing that they spout out the generic NPC text after we’ve saved them.
The Salma District is brilliantly designed, so I do hope it gains further use in the future.
I’d rather not see dyes as account bound. They’re already going pretty cheap on the trading post as it stands, with the exception of a select few. For the collectors out there such as myself, the sense of accomplishment would be eroded away considering there’s very few things to collect in this game that aren’t already bound to the account rather than the character.
In addition, considering you can buy them on the gem store I’d wager they’re a decent source of income for Arena Net and thus further game development. I’m fine with that.
Adjusting it to be a unique form of crowd control would make it much more worthy of its elite skill status. Perhaps it could last for five seconds, though with afflicted enemies being immune to damage for the duration? It’d be very situational, but a lot more useful than it is now.
Trahearne: I personally find him to be probably worst character. :SPOILERS:
Posted by: Garenthal.1480
I would have felt more for him if we’d been privy to more of his background. A lot of the personal story – particularly in the latter half – feels a little rushed and/or forced. For example, a number of NPC’s owe Trahearne a favour. This goes largely unexplained, as does his sudden skill in battle and tactical prowess. I loved the Claw Island mission because we lost. It painted a grim picture of just how formidable Orr and Zhaitan were.
After that, aside from a few NPC deaths, Trahearne stole the show and led my character to victory and success at almost every turn.
It would have been better if we got to fight his reanimated corpse, then I could at least have gotten the satisfaction of ending him myself. I found Forgal much more realistic as a mentor figure, though it seems the comedy act will always be more popular.
This is why role-play is such a brilliant thing to invest in, since you get to choose how your character reacts to pretty much any given situation within the constraints of the canon lore.
I don’t think Soule is overrated at all. Sure, some of his tracks carry similar themes but they’re hardly repetitive. GW2 boasts one of the best ‘RPG’ soundtracks I’ve heard in years.
Add a role-playing sub-forum to the 'Community Corner' section.

There’s a pretty huge gathering of role-players on Piken Square and Tarnished Coast. I also believe that one of the German realms has a pretty big chunk of role-players there as well. With that in mind, it would be greatly appreciated if we could see a a role-playing discussion board in the community corner section of this forum.
A number of other MMO’s cater to role-players in this manner, so it’d be very nice to see the same treatment here as well!
I suspect that additional weapons are going to be added in the future to grant each class a set of new abilities. I can’t confirm this, though it seems very likely. I guess we’ll just have to bide our time.
I couldn’t disagree more. It offers an additional challenge and if people see it as a taxing activity, then it baffles me that they’re doing it in the first place. As with so many aspects of the game, nothing is on a timer forcing you to do it as soon as possible.
If you’re so set on getting what you need, why not ask around and get some friends or strangers to help you? Or better yet, take an active role in driving your servers WvW activity in a direction that’ll net you the objectives you require.
I don’t want to see anything that rewards players for going AFK. I would, however, love to see some sort of fishing or instrumental orientated activity implemented that could be done near water and in taverns respectively.
More mini-games wouldn’t hurt. I suspect we’ve a fair few on the way judging by how NPC’s in Divinity’s Reach mention two different mini-games that currently cannot be accessed.
The rate at which butter is obtained is a little overkill, I’ll admit. It also means there’s less chance of obtaining the other items that could potentially drop from the bags looted from enemies. As a compromise, perhaps butter should be made available from vendors again and the loot bags can have a chance to drop some of the more desirable chef ingredients?
Make helmet and shoulder removal apply to the character selection screen

Agreed. My warrior has a pretty nice suit of armour ruined by a helmet I can’t stand looking at. I can hide it in the game itself, though being forced to look at it on the character selection screen is a little irritating! A minor cosmetic change, though I’m sure it’ll do a lot of good.
A terrible idea as far as I’m concerned. The downed mechanic should remain as something unique for each profession. Instead of complaining about what your toolkit could have, learn to make use of what it does have.
If you’re in a hurry, use a waypoint. I don’t see why the number of enemies should be reduced just because a minority of places cannot be bothered to simply run past an enemy. If you want to stand around and chat to friends, go do it somewhere safe.
I don’t think we should be able to change a character’s race, gender or profession. Those sort of decisions should be permanent as far as I’m concerned. Any character re-customisation should be limited to adjusting a particular character’s appearance and name. Otherwise it just cheapens the game.

Yeah, it’d be a nice touch.
The event entitled ‘Retake the farm and bring sprinkler pieces to Clarence’ is currently bugged. The centaurs have been cleared out, with the counter showing that none of them remain, though Farmer Clarence still speaks as though they do and therefore the event will not move on to the next stage even after players bring sprinkler pieces to him.
As for the affected realm? Piken Square!

I doubt it’s intended. I suspect it may be an issue with the loot tables, though if it is intended then…I don’t know what to say. Those boxes would go a long way in helping people gear up a bit if the loot was between the levels of 70-80.
I have no idea why everyone is so crazy about Tybalt. He actually made me stop playing my human thief. I could not believe that my character had given up a life of luxury in Divinity’s Reach to join a secret, shadowy world order to be ‘mentored’ by a completely worthless character in the secret agent business. I gave up playing at lvl 36 because I just could not get over how terrible he is as a secret agent.
Now Forgal. Oh Forgal, everything about him was done right. The backstory, the gruffness, the slow warming up to your character. The jabs your character shares with him. He helped me buy into the whole motto of the Vigil “some must fight, so that all may be free” He seemed so much more grounded than Tybalt.
I agree! I disliked Forgal at first, then warmed up to him when I learned more about him. Tybalt is…well, overrated. He’s the ‘zany’ trope at play, hence why he’s so popular.
I just really hope this game doesn’t go down the route of making every other NPC ‘zany’ to accommodate the wishes of the same masses that cried out for such things in WoW. Though I have faith that Arena Net are above such things!

The allergy to a stealth orientated class is very hypocritical from what I’ve seen of it. I see plenty of people bringing up how awful stealth has been in other games, though by that logic should we avoid every class archetype based on how things played out in other games? I didn’t think so.
Having the ability to lay in wait and ambush an unsuspecting foe would be brilliant in my humble opinion.

I’m actually very disappointed that the ‘mesmer control theory’ has been shot down already. Jennah bores me to tears, simply because she exists as a trope that has been done to death already. She’s the beautiful peace activist who can do no wrong, the people typically love her (and those that do not tend to be painted as bad guys) and one of the major male human characters almost instantly falls for her.
I’m not against strong female characters, but now Logan will forever be tarnished and viewed as a jerk for abandoning his friends even long after Destiny’s Edge sort out their inner conflicts. Either way, human players are forced to endure a pair of smitten lovers as their representatives whilst the other races seem to get a bit more leg room and less of a cliché experience.
To me, Jennah just feels like a plot device. She basically exists as a throwback to Salma and to drive the peace negotiations forward. All at the cost of an alarmingly high portion of players hero worshipping Rytlock and bashing Logan. It’s not a terrible plot line, but it could have used a bit more work.

I’m sure I’m not the only one who would enjoy being able to make a few minor tweaks to my character’s appearance without having to delete and then re-create him. With this in mind, it would be brilliant if we had the ability to spend a reasonable amount of gems on a name change and character re-customisation.
Naturally, this should be limited in aesthetic changes only, nor should it grant people to the ability to change their character’s race, profession or gender. Such choices should remain permanent.
They’re a luxury, not a necessity. Try to get your friends into the habit of using them sparingly, especially if they’re just starting out. There’s plenty to do and see in between each waypoint, after all!
Not to mention, you earn a profit participating in dynamic events when travelling manually. Karma, experience, money and whatever the enemies happen to drop along the way.
I wholeheartedly agree! There’s a lot of flavour lore hidden away in the dialogue you can access when speaking to each ‘heart’ NPC, so it’s a shame that so many players are going to miss out on it.
I don’t mean to sound condescending, but they’re only hard until you and your allies grasp the mechanics and improve you reflexes. Difficulty is a very subjective thing, though I believe the dungeons are working as intended. They’re not something you have to do. If you’re finding them difficult, discuss alternative strategies and consider using different skills/weapons based on the offending fights.
There is a pretty steep learning curve, though if everyone pulls their weight pretty much any challenge can be overcome eventually. It’s perfectly possible that dungeons just aren’t your cup of tea, which is perfectly fine! That doesn’t mean they should be nerfed, though. A lot of people enjoy a good challenge, after all.

I much preferred the earlier segments of the personal story, if I’m honest. The latter portion wasn’t terrible, but it seemed to flow a little less smoothly and did indeed seem to focus a little too much on Trahearne. I suppose that’s mostly because the initial stuff is incredibly varied whilst the latter stuff seems to be heavily driven by Trahearne. There’s still differences and alternative routes, though.
Still, the entire thing is effectively a ‘what if’ scenario for me. Naturally, it’d be arrogant for anyone to claim that their character is the ultimate saviour of Tyria, especially when millions of other people will be doing the exact same feats.
