That’s really interesting Konig. Is there any more information you can tell us about Abaddon, or any links leading to the information? I’m very interested in him somehow!
Maybe he was positive and good at the beginning but became corrupted after consuming dark powers from the spider god Arachnia causing him to become greedy for power and fame.
To be honest… I’d like to see that the elite-specialization abilities can be switched on/off with a toggle that doesn’t require you to invest a whole traitline just to have the abilites. Then simply remove or partially remove some of the existing traits from an elite-specialization traitline.. and work them inside the toggled mode. Then.. balance it out with the 3 core traitlines!
Much more diversity.. and still access to the multiple bursting on Warrior for an example, or healing on Ranger! (and every other profession and their elite-specialization weapons).
Sounds like Abaddon was once the leader of the other Gods and the other 5 backstabbed him when he was gaining too much power (too much according to the 5 other Gods). I still don’t see any reason why Abaddon would want to rule the world by himself. Maybe he had positive plans for all? Who knows…

I like the different opinions I’m reading here! Keep on discussing!
Hello fellow lore-fanatics,
I have a question that only can be answered with speculation. And I will also include my own theory.
Why did Abaddon want Humans to have magic?
As far as I can see it.. there’s 2 options to this answer.
1. When the Human Gods came to Tyria and made the world ready for Humans.. Abaddon was already against the other five Gods; which explains why he would try to destroy the new world that the other five Gods were trying to create.
2. Abaddon had good intentions for wanting to release the magic from within the Bloodstone for Humans to have.. but didn’t expect Humans to start warring with eachother.
I believe in option 2.. and I’ll tell you why.
The Human Gods were aware of the presence and nature of Elder Dragons when they came to Tyria. It was written in artifacts that the Forgotten collected to be stored in the city of Arah (one of these artifacts being the Seer-made Bloodstone). So what if Abaddon had higher aspirations for Humans? And a much stronger passion for them to succeed in their new world? Succeed so much.. that Abaddon wanted to help them defeat the Elder Dragons and truly make Tyria a world of Humans alone where they could decide life; instead of having to be destroyed by Elder Dragons later on.
Why else would Abaddon feel betrayed by the other five Gods when they took back the magic?
Ofcourse it wouldn’t be a reason to cause major catastrophic events for Humanity which we played through in Guild Wars 1.. but still.. what if he was simply a misunderstood little sibling that no one wanted to hear out? I would understand his anger towards the other Gods.
Discuss!
First, they came to Tyria, drawn by the magical forces at the Artesian Waters (this is in Orr), but they didn’t realize it was Zhaitan’s magic slowly being released out of him. Then they brought humanity to Tyria and one of the then Six Gods, named Abaddon, released magic from within a Seer-made Bloodstone and gifted it to humans. But.. Humans got greedy and started to go to war with eachother, which were the Guild Wars. So.. the then Krytan King named Doric set out on a pilgrimage to plea the Six Gods to take back their gift of magic. They agreed, and sealed the magic back into the Bloodstone with King Doric’s blood. However, Abaddon was not happy and started a full-on war with the other 5 Gods, managing to defeat 2, but not the other 3. Then, Abaddon was cast down and imprisoned within his own Realm of Torments and tried to influence Tyria from within it by causing several major events that Guild Wars 1 was about. But the devastation caused by defeating Abaddon made the other 5 Gods leave Tyria in their visible form, yet remained looking over Humans from the Mists and blessing us with their favors, this event was called ‘’The Exodus of the Gods’’. The events that were caused by Abaddon as he was still in his Realm were…
The Searing
The Jade Wind
The Cataclysm
Nightfall
At the end of Nightfall, you the Hero and several other Sunspears including Kormir defeated Abaddon and Kormir, who was blessed by Dwayna and Lyssa, took over Abaddon’s power before it was going to burst out and destroy Tyria for good. After Abaddon was defeated the Gods left Tyria for good and said that Tyria was our world (us being Humans) and we should be wise with what we do with it.
Then the Elder Dragons awoke.
The gate opening at the end is most likely the gate that leads further into Rata Novus. The gate that the last Asurans of Rata Novus used to flee the Chak overrunning the city.
Good day fellow lore-fanatics,
With all these Ley Energies going haywire to a point that naked Ley-men are running across maps causing havoc like never before I have come to a question that others of you might’ve been wondering about aswell.
Are the Human Gods aware of what we are doing? And could our actions draw back their attention to Tyria?
It’s a fair question. Considering we’ve killed two Elder Dragons who served as two cogs within the Eternal Alchemy; the Asuran belief that the world is always in a perfect balance of destruction and revival.
Having killed these two Elder Dragons has caused Ley-Energy to flow into the world with a rate that maybe could be resembled to when Abaddon released magic out of the Bloodstone and caused the Guild Wars. Did it look the same back then?
Another point I’d also like to mention is that this kind of magic that is being violently released into the world is the same magic that the Elder Dragons consumed about 10.000 years ago during the last awakening of the Elder Dragons. But is it stronger, weaker or any different in any way?
I believe that magic can’t be created or destroyed; atleast that’s what some Asura said, right?

I don’t think people care whether trait systems are complicated or not. Considering that probably 90% of the players go with whatever Metabattle tells them to go with.
To this list I’d like to add a Guild Hall Upgrade named ‘’Ambient Control Panel’’ which allows people to manually set weather and day/night cycles.
Hello everyone.
I’ve been thinking lately that it’s been over a year since the last trait system rework happened. It was together with the Lion’s Arch rebuilding patch in June. Reason why is.. we have 3 traitlines now, and obviously one has to be the elite specialization otherwise you drastically lack in efficiency compared to the vanilla professions.
What do you guys think, do we need a new trait rework for more customization?
Let me just note here that she clearly says ‘’the gate’‘, and not ’’a gate’’, possibly meaning she’s been focused with working on one gate only. And what is the most important gate in Rata Novus right at the spot where we saw her last time? Exactly, the one leading further into Rata Novus.
Could a Developer please just give an official answer on this? As far as I see this you have 3 options to answer, because being silent with this high demand of something is not an option anymore.
1. Yes, we will add them.
2. Maybe, we will look into it.
3. No, we will never add them.
Any developer want to answer this?
Adding capes to the game doesn’t mean there will be more clipping. Just choose armor pieces that don’t clip. And when it comes to weapons that are stowed on the back.. make options to hide weapon or hide the cape when for an example you stow a Greatsword. I’d choose to hide the Greatsword and leave the cape visible. But when you’re wielding sword with torch for an example, then let the cape be visible.
GW2GURU “The dragon burried beneath the ice of Drakkar Lake is actually not Jormag. He’s to Jormag what the Shatterer is to Kralkatorrik, something akin to lieutenant.” ~ Stéphane Lo Presti
My guess is that would be Claw of Jormag whom we know in Frostgorge.
I believe we are seeing Jormag arise from the Far Shiverpeaks!? Probly not happy eaither. Can’t Wait!!
Jormag has multiple champions under his command. Drakkar being the one who caused Jora’s brother to become the Svanir after being corrupted by its magic.
On the main page of gw2 you see 2 guys with capes. Capes confirmed? xd
The 2 guys you see on the mainpage is actually a copy from an artwork in Guild Wars 1 named ‘’The Rise of the White Mantle’‘.
https://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/File:The_Rise_of_the_White_Mantle_loading_screen.jpg
And basically they made it green/blueish to hint that the White Mantle will have a part in Living World Season 3, in whatever area that is. There’s 2 possibilities.
1. Maguuma Jungle
2. Far Shiverpeaks
In history we know that the White Mantle are active at both the Bloodstones that are located in these areas. Perhaps the explosion we see in the video is a Bloodstone exploding from being overly charged with magic.
But yeah, let’s hope for capes!
Or maybe it’s just the White Mantle trying to revive Lazarus by pumping a bunch of magic into the Maguuma Bloodstone causing it to explode. But.. could also be the Shiverpeaks Bloodstone. Atleast, I hope it is!
How do you know the Woodland Cascades have a Mursaat City? Nothing is known about this. Saul went into the Maguuma Jungle and found it there, as far as I know.
