There won’t be a new race.
Listen up,
If you want the best, the most prestigious and the ultimate reward in this game? You’re going to have to go through the most difficult, the most frustrating and the absolute challenge that this game can offer you!
Would you really feel better, if you could farm Legendary armor in Silverwastes? I know I wouldn’t, because what’s ’’Legendary’’ about that?
And about the pugging Raids, just do it man. I’m at 15/18 Envoy Armor and I started 5 weeks ago. I’ve pugged every single Raid and I’ve had plenty of wipes over kills.
Just do it! It’s not that hard as many people think it is! I thought the same as you before I started, but now my mind has changed.
Maybe they are setting the stage for a new Legendary sword twin-weapons like Sunrise and Twilight? :>
Or maybe combine Magdaer and Sohothin to create.. a new Greatsword!
The only way you’ll be useful in Raids as a Warrior is to provide okay-ish DPS together with a permanent upkeep of 25 Might stacks for yourself and 4 other members within your Raid party. Warriors also provide damage support from their Banners and can quickly burst a breakbar with CC skills (crowd control).
The reason why the Defense and Discipline traitline are bad in Raids is because you’re being healed by Druids. This will allow you to go full on damage instead of providing yourself the defensive aspects of your traits which only work for you, and no one else.
Otherwise this build is not wrong at all if you’re doing open-world PvE, story missions or maybe even some dungeons. It’s just that for Raids and Fractals you’d rather want to support the other team members.
I’m sorry to hear you got kicked out, and I hope my reply can make you wiser!
So before Shared Inventory slots came out I had 3 different Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic’s on 3 different characters because I played those 3 characters and they all needed that convenience. But now that the Shared Inventory slots have been out for a long time I have 2 of those Salvage-o-Matic’s just laying around in my bank doing nothing while there’s been real money spent on them.
Wouldn’t it be a great idea to somehow trade them back in for 200-400 gems so it can be used again for something different? Or is that an absolutely uncalled-for idea?
Write your opinions!
Mother of.. this thread is still going !? What have I done …
Are you with a good group that knows how to CC, heal, buff, coordianate, stay alive and get stuff done as efficiently as possible? Run the meta build and learn to run it.
Are you with pugs that don’t mind taking 2 hours completing T4 fractals? Run whatever you want!
Thank god no one is making posts like this about making tons of gold from the Mystic Forge without having to move your character anywhere.
Just because other games have it given so easily to you doesn’t mean that GW2 should aswell. You should be glad GW2 has it in the first place and that it doesn’t take that long at all to get it. Are you a new player? People from pre-HoT remember having no auto-loot!
Hello, my name is Fox, and I’m the OP of this thread.
After reading the first comments I received on my initial post I felt quite ashamed of bringing up a topic that has been discussed many times before and thereby being an overall annoyance for the community that are heavily into Raids. As a result I stopped looking at what was going on here, only to come back and see that it has received over 25.000 views and over 400 comments including some Dev involvment aswell.
Last night I read through 80% of the comments and I’m happy to see that the discussion has gone so far in this thread. That’s why I came here to share my final thoughts and opinions and make clear what my original intention was with this post.
The developer, as mentioned above, Crystal Reid stated: ‘’They are, and should remain, the most difficult content in the game.’’
And this is something I fully agree with. Raids in itself do not need to be watered down and thus serve only as a training-mode for brand new players. The difficulty of raids and the rewards acquired from it should always stay the same. However, what does need to change is the accessibility for brand new people who are looking to play the Raids and get better at it slowly, because right now alot of new-to-raids people feel like they will never be welcomed into the Raiding community. Can you imagine what a new player must feel like when he goes in LFG and sees the +100 Li requirements to join a group?
I’m not saying that it is the fault of the group that demand too much, I completely understand that experienced people seek experienced people to play together with and clear the instance as efficiently as possible. And doing this is simply not possible with a player that is entirely new to the encounter.
I also think that if Raids would be put in a tier-system that the lower tiers should absolutely not give the same or similar rewards as doing the original difficulty level would give. If you want the best rewards in a game then you’ll have to go through all the difficulty to get it and dedicate your time to master it. Only recently I decided to start on the Envoy Armor collection and I am very happy that it requires me to only Raid alot and complete difficult encounters rather than having to pay 2000 gold which I could farm in the Silverwastes in a month while being half awake.
So the question still remains.. how do we make Raids more accessible for all? Since that is the topic that should be discussed about here, and I’m sure the Raid team is discussing this aswell as we’re speaking.
Should we make even higher, difficult and more rewarding tiers so that new people will be more welcomed into the low original tier?
Should we add a level-system to Raids that functions as the Li check and then lock the LFG in categories according to your Raid Level?
Should the Developers add true encounter mechanics from each boss into the Special Forces Training Area so people can practice their minds for the real deal later on?
I am sure there’s many ways to solve this problem that clearly shows in the voices of many people that commented on this thread and other threads so far.
I would like to thank everyone for participating in a thread of which I thought would be beaten to death, and if people still wish to continue commenting then let’s stay on topic here, shall we?
Now, I hope next thread about capes will be as succesful as this one was!

I think it would be nice to make it a movement skill like Guardian has on Greatsword.
They could even use the animation of Elementalist’s Elite GS auto-attack skill.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could see our chat while looking at the big world map? I often find myself wanting to give directions to people or talk about a specific area but not being able to see their responses and so on. Having a toggle to show/hide it while viewing the map would be nice imo !
This topic again ? Let me show you how to use the search tool on the forum.
Here you can see this same topic already beat to death, and answered/locked by the Devs:

If there’s so much debate about it then maybe it should be considered instead of locked down.
Amazing as always, Alga! <3
Hello.
Recently I’ve had a discussion with a few of my guild members about the current state of Raids and how it could be improved to reach out to a larger group of the player-base. This resulted in me writing this post and sharing the ideas we came up with.
First of all let me make clear that I don’t think Raids are wrong in how they are as of today, but I do believe that there’s more potential in the amazing content that only a handful of developers were able to develop for only a handful of the player-base. With that being said let me continue to the topic…
‘’How would you improve the availability of Raids to more players?’’
To improve this problem you must first identify what the cause is of the problem. And the cause is that most players who casually play GW2 often feel intimidated to give Raids a try because there’s this large bias going around that Raids are impossible and can only be completed with a group of 10 elite players who know exactly what to do. As a comparison I would like to take Fractals of the Mists.
Fractals of the Mists can be quite challenging and tedious work if you’re playing it on the high-tier levels, but because of the availability of lower tiers (which need no AR) people who are new to it feel more comfortable to give Fractals a try and slowly climb the ladder until they reach the top-tiers.
Thus you might wonder… If it works good like that with Fractals, would it also work to have a tier scale with Raids?
‘’How would a tier scale fit in Raids?’’
In order to understand this idea we must first divide Raids into specific tiers; and we can use 3 tiers as an example of how this would work. The first tier could be as difficult as the Vanilla Dungeons and serve as an introduction to Raids for people that are completely new. The second tier could be as difficult as T3 or T4 Fractals and could serve as the daily-running for rewards by casual, but comfortable people. The third tier would then have the original difficulty and would serve as the weekly run with full rewards and progression towards Legendary armor.
‘’In what other ways would the tiers be distinguished from eachother?’’
Tiers could be distinguished not only in difficulty but also in the rewards and progression you get to specific things. For an example, doing Tier 1 would give you a certain currency that you can convert into a currency of Tier 2 and so forth. The weekly cap from Tier 3 would not apply on the lower tiers, giving more room for advanced players to farm Raids more often and still get all the rewards they want. And this would also motivate people who try it out on Tier 1 to try to go even higher and on a more consistent amount. One other important thing to distinguish the tiers from eachother is by locking the LFG into specific tiers just the same as with Fractals. This would keep the division of advanced players and new players but still keep every kind of player satisfied that they are able to delve into this large chunk of content.
’’Wouldn’t that just require alot of resources of Anet to make a bunch of changes?’’
In my opinion this is not necessarily the case. The length and design of all the Raids should be exactly the same; but tweaking the HP of bosses and their output damage could already be a big change for people. Reducing the amount of times an encounter could potentially wipe an entire party is also given for the lower tiers and would only be good as a practice for people who want to climb up the tiers of Raids slowly. And making a few changes to an already existing content so that more people can enjoy it and feel less intimidated by it is only a bonus for both Anet and the entire player-base.
‘’How would this be beneficial to Anet?’’
This would be good for Anet because if they increase the player-base for raids they will have more reason to develop this quality content for both advanced and casual players. More resources could be put into it and as a result a larger majority of the people will be satisfied with the work of Anet. The advanced community wouldn’t get hurt because they can still organize their own groups and look for players in a locked group of the LFG section according to what tier will be played.
This is, and maybe always will be, just an idea that passed the minds of maybe more people than just me and a few of my guildies. It might not fit Raids, it might be utterly wrong, but ideas are never bad to be suggested and that is why this suggestion should be taken seriously. If you have come this far I thank you for reading. Any opinions, whether for or against, are always welcome in the comments below, but provide your reasoning as to why this is a good or a bad idea.

Hello.
I feel like the preview panel could use some updates because it seems lacking in what we can actually preview.
Things I’d like to see change:
1. Make the panel bigger and add a zoom in/out function.
2. Put in a preview-mode for wielding weapons the proper way; and not like a Greatsword sticking out awkwardly that you can’t even see how you will hold it on your character.
3. Put in a preview-mode for equipping armors and wielding weapons while your character is doing the running/walking animation. (or even sitting, dancing.. you name it)
4. Connect the preview panel directly to your personal/bank wardrobe and also your dye panel so you can select anything easily.
If anyone else has any ideas or suggestions then feel free to post them below! o/
I’ve been wanting capes for a long time now. I think I’ve said ‘’I wish Anet made Guild Capes’’ on a weekly basis for over a year!
To avoid action on your accounts, you might consider reading the Forum Rules accessed via the front page.
Good luck.
We weren’t aware yet of these rules, and we apologize if we have broken them. We don’t have a problem if Anet wishes to remove this thread.
Hello dear Anet support/crew.
My name is Lawrence and I am the leader of The Kodash Bazaar [TKB] guild.
We are a guild mainly focused on PvE but many of our players are very interested in each aspect of the game. Something we are not interested in however is when someone dearly loved to us becomes the unfortunate victim of a hacking incident, and in response to that the Support Staff of Anet has decided to permanently ban the account of one of my guild members.
The account concerning this incident is: Sofia.3507
Our goal with this forum thread is to make an attempt to get the attention from the Anet Staff to give the tickets attached to this account and incident another look and, together with the vouches of our guild members that know the victim, maybe lead to a solution to this problem.
Each player that replies to this forum thread with ‘’I vouch’’ recognizes Sofia’s innocence and claim to know her in-game as not someone who performs any activity that conflicts with the regulations of Anet.
In the end we hope that the Anet Staff can help us out because all that we want is to have our beloved guild member back with us.
Help us Anet, you’re our only hope.

I’d say go with the Priory since they’re more likely to look at Abaddon with a positive and interested view rather than the Order of Whispers who fought against him.
And introduce guild capes! Yay!
Even after everything being said here… many arguments both positive and negative… some backed and unbacked… I must come to my one and only personal conclusion.
I love Abaddon!
No but really.. great discussion going on here
I also think that the outfits they create and release in the gemstore are absolutely hideous and Anet lacks a sense of good taste (but that’s ofcourse my personal opionion). Just take one look in the ’’gemstore’’ from Black Desert Online and see how beautiful their outfits are for all classes and genders. You have a plethoria of dye panels and what not to customize them although their core are beautiful as it is. I’ve been wondering alot lately (especially with the new lws3 update) whether Anet is just lazy or whether they lack numbers or if it’s just a matter of being bad at what they do. In lws3 we only got a new headpiece but it looks bad and also it looks the same on all 3 armor types. Must’ve been hard work!
Perhaps something like this is what you’re looking for?
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Current-Events-Continuation/first#post6263075
create a custom server and fight 10 vs 10… done, now you have GVG
The maps in PvP are too tight for this and if they were to implement a capture point GvG then it should be larger. If it’s just a deathmatch GvG then the size is good but remove all the obstacles and corners. Although I’d prefer a capture point GvG.
Also an interface with leaderboards for this would be great.
Having discovered how small Living World Season 3 Episode 1 is and having felt disappointed after 2 days of gameplay was needed to complete everything I believe that Anet could resolve this issue by continuing their Current Events and even utilize them in the new Bloodstone Fen map.
It would be a bi-weekly minor update with let’s say 3 or 4 achievements that look and work the same as the Current Events prior to the Living World Season 3 update. Except they will grant you rewards according to the new map and if they install these events in other maps they could contain other rewards.
Why? Because having to wait yet another 2-3 months after already having waiter 9 months for some new content is quite disappointing; and I’m not the only one thinking like this.
Some examples!
- ‘’Help Explorer Rixx collect Bloodstone Shards for Durmand Priory research.’’
– ‘’Collect Shards of Bloodstone and deliver them to Explorer Rixx.’’
- ‘’Escort Shane Graypaw while he makes his way to a possible location of high activity.’’
– ‘’Fend off the White Mantle Invaders while Shane Graypaw investigates the site.’’
- ‘’Help the Vigil Crusaders find a new location to setup an outpost.’’
– ‘’Defend the Vigil Workers while they establish a secure outpost.’’
– ‘’Pick up Tools dropped by White Mantle Seekers and use them to build tents.’’
– ‘’Defend the newly established outpost from White Mantle Invaders.’’
- ‘’Collect White Mantle Documents and deliver these to Nadiel for investigation.’’
– ‘’Find White Mantle Artifacts and deliver these to Nadiel.’’
Some possible rewards!
- Unbound Magic
- Bloodstone Ruby
- Unbound Garments
- Experience
- Karma
- Bloodstone Dust
- White Mantle Badges
- Completing all events grants a new Title; ‘’Unbound Researcher’’.
- Flat Gold
- A Bloodstone Elemental Miniature.
EDIT: I want to make sure here that I do not think the quality of Episode 1 was bad. It was actually really well made and I’m happy to see the developers progress and coming up with new ways to make this game interesting. However… the pauses between the episodes are just too long for what they bring. Others might have different opinions on this but I just wanted to share my thoughts.
(edited by Goldfox.5729)
Now that I have witnessed how small Living World Season 3 Episode 1 actually is I think it would be a good choice of Anet to to fill up the gap with some minor Current Events until we reach 2-3 months in the future and the new episode of Living World Season 3 starts. With a few achievements. Some Champions, Escorts, Collections.
1. Build & Keybind Templates. I believe this will be useful as each class has a different amount of keybinds that need to be used. I often find myself needing to change around my keybind whenever I swap to another character. For the Build Templates I suggest that there should be options to not only save the build but also which armor/weapons you want to save according to that build; so that if you for an example want to switch from Power Ranger to Condition Ranger you can swap with one click and the Condition Ranger armor/weapons in your inventory will be equipped aswell. [But this should be selectable in options].
2. Guild Oriented Skins. Yes you could’ve guessed it; I’d like to see Capes with the Guild Logo on the back and a dye-able background to the cape. Some of you may wonder… ‘’How will this fit with the stowed weapons on the back?’’… My solution to this is to make options so that you can select which should be prioritized.
- Option One: Prioritize weapons over capes. When stowing your weapon the cape disappears (perhaps by a rolling up animation) and only the weapon is visible. When seathing your weapon the cape appears (perhaps by an animation of the cape rolling down and unfolding itself).
- Option Two: Prioritize capes over weapons. When stowing your weapon, a Greatsword for an example, the weapon won’t be visible and the Cape will remain as it is for always. This option also hides side-stowed weapons such as Sword and Focus.
- Option Three: Prioritize capes over weapons; but show the side-stowed weapons. For an example… You’re wielding a Sword and a Shield and decide to stow your weapons after having been in combat. The Sword will be visible on your side but the Shield will disappear.
And it doesn’t matter whether it clips or not with other armor pieces. There’s enough armor pieces that won’t clip with capes and only a few will do so. It’s not like clipping was never an issue anyway. Except for Charr…
Edit: Capes could also be a great idea for the WvW Legendary Backpack since that’s the only game-mode without one at the moment.
3. Guild Hall Customization. I would find it an amazing addition to Guild Halls if there would be more customization to them; and I’m not speaking about decorations, although more of these are always welcome. No, I am speaking about a Guild Environment Control Panel.
Wait… Is this some new Asura technology we found in Rata Novus?
Yes. The Guild Environment Control Panel will allow Guild Members (with sufficient permissions granted by their leader) to change the day/night cycles within a Guild Hall and alter the weather with several options to choose from.
Examples:
Fog
Clouded
Bright Sunlight
Red Sky (as seen in Bloodstone Fen)
Nighttime
Snowfall
Rain
Storm
Random
That’s all I can come up with for the moment.
(edited by Goldfox.5729)
Mike O’Brien just reiterated that armor is the most expensive asset we have in the game. It takes huge amounts of resources to make them work, for 5 races, two genders, 3 weights, and with dyes, mixing & matching, etc.
Regardless of whether people are willing to pay (and not everyone is), they aren’t going to manage to release that many more armor sets per year. In contrast, outfits are easy (fewer designs, no mix & match), so they can release a lot of them.
Except they never look good; they should take an example of other games.
The Good: There’s content
The Bad: There’s no capes.
When will Devs answer us !?
Yeah, I’m not sure but I think I saw Caudecus wearing a cape actually. Have to see it again ^^
Capes would fit well as the WvW Legendary Backpack item. Fractals has one and PvP has one too.. so now Wvw?
It would be good because it fits WvW and the whole ‘’Guild Cape’’ idea; also it would finally be something different than all those wings we see out there.
Please Anet, just consider this; and give us a reply maybe? <3
I actually dreamt about having a cape in GW2 last night… still waiting for a Dev reply on this.
Players have plenty of options to increase their movement speed. We don’t need to add more to everyone’s base. Chances are a couple years from now players will ask for it to be increased further claiming that it is too slow.
Remove the traits, runes, sigils.. whatever; and then make it a base speed for all that is unlocked with various stages of leveling. But keep Swiftness in there.
And here I was just thinking how childish and unserious the GW2 story feels compared to the GW1 story.
If players need additional speed then there are consumables that they can use if they prefer to not mess with their build.
Which exactly? Because I’ve been checking today and none of them are really useful to get a permanent increase in movement speed.
I think it would be great for build diversity to have +25% base movement speed out of combat at max level.
Thank you very much for reading this suggestion! I hope you have a great day or afternoon or evening depending on your time zone!
There are boosters for that. No really it will not happen, ANet sell boosters that give a 25% speed boost, they are not going to cut a item that makes them money.
Except those are not even in the gemstore… or do you mean something else? I stand by my point that it’s a great idea. It was like this in GW1 that everyone had the same speed unless you used a skill that would give you some Swiftness.. but that’s it. There were no runes/sigils/traits that gave the movement speed buff.
I’m feeling unconfident about this idea and how it would fit in Guild Wars.
I think they should remove the traits and signets that grant 25%/33% movement speed and make room for something else. It would be a nice thing to unlock movement speed at various levels and rates as you go from 0-80; and when you hit level 80 you have +25% movement speed.
And tbh… many say ‘’Yeah then next year someone wants another +25% movement speed’‘… but I don’t think like that. The main reason you want this +25% movement speed is so you can keep up with others who have it aswell. If everyone runs the same speed then no one would complain about wanting to go faster; but that’s just how I view it.
EDIT: I do believe however that Swiftness should still be a boon that gives the +33% movement speed; but nothing else should give +33% like some traits.
Gradual Level Unlock:
+5% at level 10
+10% at level 20
+15% at level 40
+20% at level 60
+25% at level 80
(edited by Goldfox.5729)
I suggest you try to do the dailies from different game-modes aswell and mix it around a bit. I do acknowledge that not all PvE dailies are ’’easy’’ or worth spending your time on. The PvP dailies are quite easy since you can just enter a rank-farm server.
Each profession has 2 elite skill types missing, aside from Engineer (who has only 1 missing) and Revenant. I remember hearing that they were planning to fill in the missing gaps with regards to elite skills and possibly healing skills too. I’m not sure if that was for real or not though.
Necro: Well/Signet
Guardian: Spirit Weapon/Consecration
Thief: Signet/Trap
Ranger: Trap (as stated)/Signet
Engineer: Gadget
Mesmer: Mantra/clone (phantasm)
Warrior: Stance/Shout
Elementalist: Arcane/Signet
Thank you for adding this!
I didn’t know them all out of my head; but it sure seems like alot of new things could be added!
What I’m saying is that Mistfire Wolf is a skill that is probably locked for a lot of people and thus is useless. Atleast for me.. not being able to use it… it’s quite useless. So why not make a new elite skill for the skill-types that some professions don’t have yet? For an example.. the ranger trap!
EDIT: ‘’The skill is automatically available to level 31 characters for owners of the Digital Deluxe or Collector’s Edition of Guild Wars 2.’’
I believe I did buy the Digital Deluxe Edition. But this was perhaps two and a half year after first release of Guild Wars 2. The Mistfire Wolf skill never unlocked for me; and neither will it unlock for people who are buying Heart of Thorns now.
(edited by Goldfox.5729)
Why is there no Ranger Elite Trap skill? I’ve seen a few other profession with a type of skill that doesn’t have an elite and could easily replace the useless Mistfire Wolf slot.
More skins, More Fashion Items, More Hairstyles.. No thank you.
MORE CONTENT!
Back in GW1 when you had the choice to go for Kurzick or Luxon you chose the good side because both were good. But White Mantle.. has never been good. And by the way Virus.. you know that the first dragon awakening was app. 10k years ago right? And has nothing to do with GW1 and the storyline for that?
Why would you even care if they are seperate or not? Be happy you’ll get some experience from the Raids too
I can’t believe you just compared the White Mantle to Kurzick/Luxon.
I really don’t understand people that complain about the involvement of the Raid story in LWS3. Shouldn’t you be happy that you’ll get that story? Maybe even be able to play it in the same instances as the Raids? Besides, not like the Raids story was anything more than discovering that the White Mantle are back…
Yeah, and I am still waiting for a dev to take notice of this and let us hear something about whether they might add capes or totally won’t do it at all.
