Posted this in the bug forums, hopefully they’ll see it. Posting here as well so people considering the new faces can be aware of some eye issues with the non pinecone noseless male face. It has the same durp eye issues from changing iris size as some of the other faces. Pretty disappointed.

The new Sylvari male face (noseless, but not the pinecone one) has the same bugged out eyes issue as some of the original Sylvari faces. Namely, one of the eyes will not behave properly when exposed to bright light.

Honestly, I’m disappointed that a new face exclusive to makeover kits you have to buy has an issue this obvious. It’s not like it’s a new bug, the other faces have had it since launch. =/

I really like my new face, but….
is it just me, or do I have a slight case of ye olde Durp Eye?

Edit: Ok, no – I definitely have Durp Eye. Seriously, they made a new face and didn’t test for the infamous Sylvari eye issues?

I would like to suggest something that is (in my opinion, wrongly) missing from this game – a linked map chat across the major cities. What I mean by this is that the map chat for The Grove should be the same as the chat for Lion’s Arch, Hoelbrak, etc instead of separate map chats for each city. Lion’s Arch is a nice city, but the others are just as beautiful – yet they’re almost completely empty. Having a linked city map chat would go a long way to combat these deserted cities. I know that I personally will go to Lion’s Arch even though I want to go to another city simply because LA is where all the chat, trivia games, etc are.

This is honestly what I think of when I see the new male faces. I don’t know why. I can’t help it. ;_;

I agree that the social functions in the game could use a lot more fine tuning. Recently, I had a long relationship end, and that person has me on their friends list. They haven’t played for almost a year and I know they aren’t going to log back on anytime soon, if ever. I wanted myself removed from their friends list so I didn’t have to see their username (weird what bothers you after a breakup) so I made a ticket, but I was told that they can’t alter that sort of information on other accounts. So…. I just had to park them on my block list. There’s literally no way to have them off of my social lists unless they log in and unfriend me. Pretty aggravating, honestly.

I’ve been playing the bell choir minigame since Wintersday started with no issues – until today. I’m pretty good at it and get perfects consistently, so I know how to play. Also, I’m not lagging. I have lagged before in the game, and I can tell when it happens because I miss some notes and the clump up. The issue I’m having is that none of the notes are being recognized when I hit them on time. Literally no correct notes even though I hit the key when they’re over the white line. I tried relogging, exiting the game and going back in, all that stuff – still not working.

My only issue is that it seems to lag randomly. Otherwise, I can get a perfect score playing the upper scale without much effort. What confounds me are the people that take the “smash head on keyboard” approach to the song, and keep coming back every time they fail.

We just got another four inches on top of what we had. Time to go take two finals and try not to die…

The problem was that GW2 was heavily marketed specifically to a casual friendly crowd and after the November 2012 loot nerfs it was no long casual friendly…not by a long shot. You had to grind incessantly to even get lowbie green gear. I know at least one person who demanded a refund under the pretense of false advertizing and got his money back.

For anyone who didn’t play at that time, it’s hard to comprehend just how bad the loot drops had become and how hard ANet was trying to make it impossible to make any gold in game (Under the false pretense of botters), while at the same time prices in the TP were skyrocketing between normal inflation and the lack of bots supplying stock.

Headstart player here. I remember the November issues vividly, as they were the reason why I quit in January ‘13. It was absolutely terrible. I remember the mahoosive loot issue thread too, thousands of posts before we even got a response, and the response was "Well, we aren’t seeing a problem. Keep giving us info." It was a really bad time in the life of the game, didn’t help that it came at the same time as the Karka fiasco. As far as the horrendousness of loot availability goes, it was such a bad grind to get 100g for my human t3 that it burned me out to the point of quitting the game. I didn’t come back for 7 or so months, and I only stayed because I noticed things had changed a lot, and loot was much easier to come by. I can actually make money now by doing things I enjoy, not grinding out mats for sale or some equally mindless thing. As a final note, I can attest to the champions not dropping loot thing. Pretty much no one did champs or world events, there was no point. I’d do dragons multiple times a day and get maybe one rare.

The second to last one greeted me when I entered the pvp lobby. The last one was where I somehow got stuck in casting position.

I, and I’m sure others, appreciate the sympathy. But just welding flames onto all the T3s doesn’t work. It takes away what makes the Flamekissed armor perfect for a sylvari – that it displays, complements and highlights the colors of their hair, eye, skin and glow colors. For some reason, ArenaNet created sylvari with great skin colors and the glow effect, then made their T3 light armor cover them up.

To fix this, ArenaNet needs to put some work into the replacement to ensure that while making it different from human T3, they don’t take away what it provides to the people who bought it and matches as well as possible the kinds of coloring and accessories it works with now.

You can have two fancy dresses of the same color that look great, show a lot of skin and can be used interchangeably with the same accessories, but still look different. There is no reason the same can’t be done with a digital skin.

This is exactly my opinion. I bought this on my male Sylvari because it was one of the only good looking male light skins I’ve seen – smooth appearance without a bunch of ruffles or something, tight fitting, shows skin, takes pastel colors and makes them look great with the fire effect. I expect the same elements to be in the new armor, otherwise it will be a failure in my eyes.

In another direction: I read earlier in this mahoosive thread that when the new armor is up on the store again, it will be for a lower gem price. My question is, will the people who bought the armor for 800 gems and like it enough to keep it get reimbursed the gem difference?

If they keep it in the game it needs to be forever acquirable through an npc for normal T3 armor prices. I do agree that some people got shafted but creating an ultra exclusive, limited edition armor isn’t going to be a solution to the problem.

Anet created a no win situation and someone is going to ave to take a kick in the kitten to make it right. Unfortunately the best scenario would probably be to screw the folks with T3 armor but lessen the devaluing of their efforts by making sure that any future acquisitions of the T3 flamekissed armor comes with the same hefty price tag we all have to pay for T3 skins.

Actually, I would totally pay the 120g for the set. That’s how much I like having it on my male Sylvari. Not kidding in the slightest. Would that make you feel better, people who bought t3 human? I’m being serious – if the price were the same, would you still be quite so livid?

Lets put it this way, I will assume you are a girl. For simplicity. Lets say that a fancy pair of mens pants, such as say Tripp pants, are suddenly made available to girls, where before they were not. But they are flashier and the men all whine and so Tripp pulls them, and gives you a promise that they will make a nice skirt for you instead. You would be kind of upset I would assume. Now lets assume that the men all say hey, give me those pants that you took off the backside of that girl that paid her hard earned money for them. but let me have it for free, so they can see me wearing them, at no cost. Sound fair?

Bit off topic, but firstly – they did make Tripp pants for women lol, and also many women wore Tripp pants made for men. I know this because of highschool.

For those who purchased the T3 Human skin, their armor will remain slightly devalued, an unfortunate outcome of a poor decision made by Arena Net. No solution will completely rectify this wrong, but the current proposed solution only harms the entirety of another party. Arena Net needs to take responsibility concerning this substandard decision and their devaluation of one party, and not in-turn devalue another.

I’m really curious to know just how many people bought the armor. I’m guessing it isn’t a low number. This whole thing is depressing.

What a train wreck. Sigh… I bought the new light set and love it. Now I’m going to login at some point and see it look different. If I don’t like it then I have to jump through hoops to get a gem refund and they will also have to figure out how to split it from the armor I used it on. They should seriously just let those that bought it and used it keep the look and put the new look back on the gem store.

Train wreck is right. This is going to be a major hassle no matter what (I honestly have little faith in me liking the new set.) Now there will be unhappy people with just about whatever they do.

What if I HATE the new look of it? Will there be an option for a refund then, cuz it is a lot of gold/gems for something you don’t want and it would make me quite upset to be stuck with something I don’t want to use..

We have the option of being refunded. Personally, if I don’t like it I’m asking for my actual money back, not just the gems. I wouldn’t have funded them if the armor hadn’t been there, and if they wouldn’t give me back my actual money then that would be a bait and switch, of sorts. I’m pretty grumpy.

As far as the new light armor goes, just… please, don’t make it a reskinned karma armor like the heavy is. Actually, best case would be redoing all three armors because of the sheer laziness of it all. I really, really love the flamekissed armor on my male Sylvari because it’s so…. flamboyant. When designing the new outfit, please keep that level of fabulous it has right now, and the amount of skin showing. Otherwise, it’ll just be like everything else in the game, just with some fire on it.

Well, as someone who bought it, I really hope I like the new armor set as much as the one it is right now. Otherwise, I guess I’m getting a refund, which I assume will be in gems. =/

Also, I bought a new exotic headpiece because my gas mask skin was on my old one. Sucks for me, I guess. Another thing I’m curious about: if I want a refund, will they split the skin off my armor (which is all exotics)?

I’m on both sides of this. It’s conflicting.

On the one hand, I very much understand the anger. I have human heavy t3 on my guardian. It was bought over a year ago, back when loot was arguably much worse. I farmed materials to sell for months, and by the time I got the money to buy my set, I muted it onto him and promptly quit the game for seven months. I was just that burnt out. If heavy t3 gets the same treatment as the light t3, I’m not sure how I’d feel.

That being said, I bought this armor. I didn’t think I would, and I agonized over it for a while. However, I just couldn’t resist how good it looked on my male Sylvari necro. It was just… perfect. It totally fit my image of him, and it came out of the blue. I’ve been admiring it on him since I bought it hours ago.

So, in all, I’m not sure I agree with this possible new trend. Still on the fence as to whether I think it’s a good thing or not. I do certainly think it’s lazy to a degree, and I feel for those who slaved to get the normal t3 – especially those who just bought it. I can’t stop admiring my character, though…

You have to admit, it makes some pretty fabulous dance parties!!!

I’ve confirmed, for me at least, that it’s a weird form of audio lag. I had the issue after Melandru finished, so I went to the character screen and then back onto the character I just played. I then went to Lion’s Arch and stood around for a while. The battle music that was playing still changed to the GW2 character screen music while I was standing there, a good few minutes after I’d been to the selection screen.

I will admit I’ve always been a bit sad that there are no rare pets in this game. I played a “certain other game” for years, and I may have a tiiiiny hoarding mentality with the pets there. I think I literally have about 50 pets in that game. >.>

What with my love of pet collecting, the rare pets in that game were the next logical personal goal. I would wait in stealth for hours in one spot, hoping for my target to appear at any second. Seeing the pet in question suddenly appear and then taming it, heart pounding, was easy to get addicted to! In fact, I became very good at hunting rares in general. Major, major hobby. I miss it.

What… that’s bigger than your entire body

On Tarnished Coast at least, a very large portion of the major dynamic events in Orr are unable to progress. This isn’t the first time, either – in fact, at least one of the major events seems to break each time there’s a reset. Right now, there are four broken: Assault on Arah is stuck on strategizing, Temple of Dwayna is stuck on beating up Malchor (who never showed up), Lyssa is just generally broken, and Melandru is stuck on preparations. According to gw2stuff.com, the first three have been like this for over 100 hours (I remember Arah breaking at about the same time as Dwayna), and Melandru is more recent. Are any other servers having issues with their Orr events? With things so broken, the zones are empty again.

This is the look I plan on making on my Sylvari Necro. Best pants I could find, unfortunately. =/

This happens to me pretty much after every world boss, such as Jormag, temple events, Fire Elemental, etc. If I change zones, it just changes to a different battle music but it doesn’t go away until I relog. Gets pretty aggravating.

Besides that, I’m just excited for the Wintersday JP to come back! That has been the most fun JP I’ve done so far =D

Also: the “escort the pact survivors to Meddler’s Summit” is also stuck just outside the camp. They won’t move either.

The “Escort Warmaster Chan” part of the Arah dynamic line has been stuck for almost a full day now. The NPCs just mill about within a stone’s throw of Shank Anchorage. None of the NPCs are dead/downed, left behind, or anything. They just won’t move.

I remade my female recently, and when I messed with the iris size, she had the crazy eyes goin. Doesn’t happen if you leave it alone, so that’s something anyway.

As a side note, it also seems like my camera is positioned for a much taller Norn, and that part is more annoying.

Does anyone else have a shortest possible height female Norn? Of course, this means we’re still a good few inches taller than a tall Human, but anyway… I’ve got a short Norn, and it seems like she still gets “big Norn” weapons. For instance, Kudzu is pretty large when previewed, and ascended staves are massive. Not that I mind! I think it looks pretty cool, honestly. Has anyone else noticed this?

Not sure if this should go in DEs or game bugs, but we were doing the Lyssa temple event just now on Tarnished Coast, and it seemed to ruin the zone in general. During the event, we all had about 1fps (and I had all my graphics settings down), and afterwards I was at the portal to Cursed Shore and still had 3-4fps. Normally I get 30+ fps on high settings. Before the Lyssa event, the zone was perfectly normal.

Where are you getting that they said the skins would never be back? I legitimately don’t remember, if you find a link or something I’ll believe you.

Limited time does not necessarily mean “never coming back”, it means “you can only get this during this holiday.”

Wanting other people to not have what you have because that makes you feel better sure seems like some form of elitism to me. I’ve dealt with it for years throughout MMOs. If I’ve learned anything over all this time, it’s that often what you’re working for is the chance to have it first, not the chance to be the only one to own it.

If the skins don’t come back, I’m fine with it. I’m sure not paying that much on the TP for them, and I still feel sore that there was such extreme RNG to get them in the first place, but it won’t matter in the long run. At the same time, whatever skins they have this year I just hope they learned from the last holiday and don’t lump the best chance into opening BL chests. That was just straight up bull.

Yeah, last year I had a mountain of corn just from using copper mining picks in Queensdale. The other stuff (plastic fangs and what have you) were from killing stuff and if I remember right you got some in the dungeon. They’ve been used to craft the weapons like The Crossing, so they’ll always have some value. Like with any other holiday, I remember those mats being very expensive the first couple days, then going down to about 1s each.

I think I repressed those memories.

Last year I completed the whole thing on my level 60 or so character, which was my highest at the time. Got all of it done. =p

No offense but I hope to god they do NOT come back EVER… These should be something that people who have been around since the beginning have a priviledge of owning. They can go ahead and make new weapons but I will be EXTREMELY kittened off if they bring these back…

Like many others, I was present for the entirety of the first Halloween event. I got the title, I did the pvp, and I did the dungeon for like two days straight. Only thing I didn’t do was waste money on chest keys. Guess what? I got absolute squat in the way of skins. I think the only skin I got was that gourd looking one, which I destroyed. No one wants that thing. Basically, people who put in just as much (or maybe even more) effort than you and others with skins did still ended up with nothing. It’s not even remotely about skill, it’s about luck. There’s no majesty in that.

Right now, I’m saving my keys until the Halloween patch (in case there’s extras in the chests.)
Other than that, I once got a Tybalt Leftpaw backpack.
