When you do his event in Fields of Ruin to kill the three Charr leaders, there’s like twenty copies of him for some reason. This was Tarnished Coast.

I would like to commission a piece of art from you, so I’ve deleted my free request. This will be of my one character Keldred, a Sylvari Mesmer. I’d like to have him in the armor set (and colors, if possible) pictured – I’m a bit shy of the tokens needed for the rest of it. I’d like the picture to have a white background like the other commissions in this thread. Keldred is very flamboyant, so please have him dancing with the signature fuchsia Mesmer butterflies all around him. He’s always happy, so he should look like he’s enjoying himself. =p
If you need more/better pictures or information, please let me know! I’ll oblige. I’m really excited to see what you do with it. =D
P.S. If it’s not a bother, could you also upload the picture before it’s colored? Sometimes I like to color things for fun. Also, take as much time on this as you need! I’m in no hurry.

How would the presence of mini-pets ruin anything? They’re a part of GW history from GW1. Heck, in the original Guild Wars you got a new mini-pet on your characters birthday every year.
It’s not a minipet. It summons full sized animals.

I may have to change my request to a commission… I’ll have to think about it.

Honestly, I don’t much like any of the light male cultural armors. The female versions are all sleek and elegant looking, like they’re made of flower petals or some kind of succulent, but the male stuff is all jagged and harsh looking for no reason. That’s why I decided to get the TA set instead. Speaking of the TA set, is anyone else annoyed that other races can dye the whole thing however they like?
“Tarnished Coast” since head start!
I was amazingly disappointed with the visual, and it’s not very useful to me in combat. I don’t have the skill points for other elites yet on that character, so I also don’t have any underwater elites. I guess I’ll go with that “throw daggers everywhere” elite since he’s a thief.

Just finished Shatterer, three greens and five blues. Earlier, Jormag was five greens and two blues.

I’m seeing a lot of people in this thread that can’t distinguish between some very important (and very different) concepts: swearing and inappropriate behaviour are ENTIRELY SEPARATE. Being offended doesn’t make something offensive. Here are some examples for clarity.
Swearing: Holy kitten, I opened that dragon chest and Dawn dropped!
Inappropriate behaviour: kitten you, you don’t know what you’re talking about.
Do you see the difference?
“Tarnished Coast” since head start!
Yeah, it’s possible to take lower level characters to exp modes, but it’s not optimal. I’ve done TA with a 67 and a 55 in the group – the 55 kept dying and ended up quitting, and we had to bring in an 80. The 67 did well for her level, but still died a lot compared to the rest. I honestly don’t know what they were thinking, exp modes are pretty much made for 80s.
“Tarnished Coast” since head start!
I think they’re pretty fun, but kitten if the drops aren’t horrible. If there weren’t some (amazingly small) chance of a precursor, I wouldn’t do them ever.

The only dungeon I run is TA for the armor set (after doing this dungeon this much, I have literally zero desire to do any other dungeons, ever) and if I can skip something with my party, I typically will. If I know my party won’t be able to make it, we just power through stuff. If I know I can’t skip that part well, I’ll either say so or just try to keep up. On the whole, there’s no reason at all for me to want to kill these mobs. I get either crap loot or no loot off of them, and I’m only in the dungeon for tokens in the first place. I’ve done TA a lot, and I have a lot more runs to go… I really, REALLY hate TA.

I’m wanting to save up for my T3 set on my Guardian, and I’m looking at ways to do that. Right now I have about 30g. My question is, would it be faster to try to follow this guide and “play the market” so to speak, or to run dungeons etc hoping for good drops? I used to gather mats from nodes, but bots really turned me off of that. Thanks!
“Tarnished Coast” since head start!
Why in god’s name can’t they make these changes separate between PvE and PvP… I have literally never done PvP with my Mesmer or any other character, and I keep getting the same nerfs for no reason. I’m sorry, am I not supposed to be useful in PvE?

I’ve been completing Mount Maelstrom using a GS/staff on my 80 Sylvari Mesmer, and in the past few hours I’ve noticed that the animation and sound for Mind Stab will randomly occur in a few situations. Firstly, it occurs on illusions when they shatter, but only if disguised as a Risen. Secondly, it sometimes occurs randomly on or near my actual character. I saw it once when I dropped the Risen disguise, but I’ve also seen it randomly happen for no noticeable reason. It doesn’t actually use my Mind Stab skill or make it go into cooldown.

I’m going for the TA set on my Mesmer, if you decide to go that route be prepared for running the dungeon about…. twenty times if you only do each path once a day. Good luck on the “each path once a day” part though, since it’s pretty hard to find a group most of the time, and even then you have to hope they know what they’re doing. So far I have my pants and 33 tokens left over, going for the chest next.
“Tarnished Coast” since head start!
I guess I’m what some would consider hardcore, since even during school I play about 4 or more hours a day. (No, it didn’t hurt my grades lmao.) However, it’s not like I’m rolling in money or something. I have one 80 that had about 20g on him by that time, all of which I spent on exotics. I now have about 12g on him, which I’ll probably use to get exotic upgrades/accessories, though it won’t be enough to buy everything. I’ve done some farming in Straits, which is nice but hardly ever happens on my server. I do TA a lot, but it’s hard to find a group for it most of the time, and I really dislike the dungeons in this game (only doing it for the armor set.) I’d never even consider trying for a legendary. I just don’t care enough and I feel like I grind hard enough as it is. Besides, I have seven alts to level and gear…

They’ve already stated they’re working on one. Meantime, they told us to use gw2lfg.com. Ha! Yeah, I just love using that for TA… hardly any requests and they’re all so old they probably don’t mean anything.

I think I saw a video of this in this thread, but has anyone else noticed the iZerker dying almost immediately after being summoned, for no discernible reason? This happens to me all the time in TA… whether there’s AoE or not. In the exact same situations, my clones last longer! I can only imagine this is some kind of bug. I have only seen the iZerker do this… it’s almost like he’s hitting himself.

The healing turrets in Bloodtide are at exactly the points where groups of mobs spawn for a certain dynamic event. Not sure if it’s an event farming mechanism or what, but there ya go.

So – what can be done to make dungeons more fun for more people? I may not like wow anymore for other deep-seated reasons, but I can’t deny that when it came to dungeons themselves they had a good thing going (ignoring the trinity, of course.) Here are some suggestions:
- Give bosses known loot tables. It doesn’t have to be anything super amazing, just a guarantee of getting at least one item of worth instead of the random trashy blues and greens we almost always get.
- Give bosses interesting mechanics. Right now, they’re just health pools to burn down and are amazingly boring, yet strangely annoying. The most fun I’ve had fighting a boss was talking to my party members that I had just met while we burned down the Nightmare Tree.
- Make “trash mobs” a bit more “trash”-y. I don’t mean make them so easy that you don’t have to worry about them, I mean make them less of a total pain in the butt that almost everyone will try to skip.
- On that note, give trash mobs better loot chances. Why should I deal with all these mobs with annoying skills and huge health pools (for what they are) if all I get is a grey rarity claw or a tiny thorned bag 99% of the time?
- Make dungeons long because they’re big, not long because everything takes so much time to deal with. Some of my best memories are of running through dungeons in awe of the whole place because it was so huge and varied. There was always something interesting to look at, even if I’d done it twenty times. I never got tired of the Wrath heroics, even when I did them daily for a month.
Finally, thank you for reading this huge post. (I didn’t start out intending to make it so long, oops.) Please feel free to add suggestions of your own. However, I don’t blindly hate or support anything, and I won’t appreciate it if you do. It’s ignorant behavior.

Having newly hit 80 on my Mesmer, I took it upon myself to finally earn that armor set from Twilight Arbor. I have almost all of my exotics on this character. I’ve been running this dungeon for some time now with random groups, and I have also done AC story with a random group. I’d like to make some comments on the current state of the dungeons in Guild Wars 2.
Let me make my position clear first. I love this game so far. My Mesmer is a survival build and is focused on tolerable dps with improved utility. I’m not the hardiest character, but I’m very good at avoiding death as well as aiding others with condition removal, etc. Also, the dungeons in this game are not the first I’ve ever played. I played wow for six years. Yes, I know the systems are different. I do not expect the trinity in this game, nor would I want it. That’s not the issue here. While I was in wow, I dungeoned a LOT. I did every normal dungeon, many BC heroics, almost all the BC raids, all the Wrath heroics, and all the Cata heroics. These were done multiple times on multiple class types. It was pretty much all I did. I’ve seen a lot.
Having said this, I’ve noticed some things about the dungeons in Guild Wars 2. I have one major issue: I’m not having fun. By this I do not mean dungeons are too hard. I’ve done hard dungeons in the past and loved it. I also do not mean that it’s too hard to acquire tokens for gear – I’m earning my armor set way, way faster than I earned my armor set in Wrath, and that wasn’t even end game gear! The problem here is not that the dungeons are too hard or not hard enough, but rather that being hard is all they focus on. There are few, if any, interesting mechanics. In fact, it seems to me that “trash mobs” have a much greater diversity of skills than any of the bosses. I have no idea why this is, and it doesn’t make sense to me. As it stands, “trash mobs” are more of a fight than any of the bosses are through pure density, but offer almost no rewards. Heck, the bosses themselves offer hardly any reward. If dungeons didn’t give me tokens, I wouldn’t do them. I can get money elsewhere for much less aggravation, and I’ve found much better loot in general from normal mobs in Orr event runs!
I really want to enjoy dungeons in Guild Wars 2 the way I did for years in other games. I want to do them because they’re fun, not because I need something from them, only to stop doing them once I have what I need. To be honest, the dungeons are very short and lacking in content. “Trash mobs” artificially extend the length of the dungeons, but only if they aren’t skipped – and often they are because there’s little reason not to. Right now I am extremely disappointed in the state of the dungeons in this game. They’re beautiful and are very good concepts, they just need some reworking.

Man, that sucks royally. I still don’t get why the tax is taken out when it’s listed instead of when you sell the item, seriously, that method does work.
“Tarnished Coast” since head start!
I’ve been doing Twilight Arbor a LOT for the light armor set. In my opinion, this dungeon is not “hard” or “challenging” once you figure out what to do. What this dungeon is is ANNOYING. Basically, it alternates between frustrating (I’m looking at you, flowers and Knights) and boring as all get out (auto attack tree ftw.)
As far as I can tell, dungeons are just a big hassle you put up with to get what you want, and once you’re done you stop doing the dungeon. That’s sure as hell how it’s gonna go with me. I don’t do TA exp for fun. I do it because I want the armor and I have to slog through the stupid dungeon over and over to get it. I’ve had more fun talking with my party members while we all auto attack the dumb tree. Of course, all that’s likely to change is the tree moves around and you’re bored while mobile, like the rest of the dungeon.

- This one is brief: is swearing in Gchat allowed typically? I know it’s uncivilized but my sense of humor is firmly lodged in the toilet and the gutter. I’m 22 years old and I laugh out loud every time I cut a fart, even when I’m alone (Don’t judge me).
I think I love you.

I’ve found a good way to get up to four a day, soon up to six a day…. I always just sell them.
“Tarnished Coast” since head start!
I personally don’t. I wish I did. The huge orders you see for 600g or more are quite possibly bots, or real players showing off money. The only time I ever really used it was so I could snag an exotic without moving from my spot in Straits.

So now everyone is thinking I’m some erotic freak that has problems containing himself on his female characters because of how things played out or were perceived. They do not know me nor my RP style and their Role Played personalities.
If I do do that sort of thing that was suggested, its no one business and its kept in private rps (parties and instances with select people that do want to roleplay that way) even so. Furthermore, I do not force anything on anyone for them to RP a certain way. Yet nonetheless I can’t go back and I may seek a new server when I come back to GW 2 on a new rig.
If a new RP server does form I’ll gladly transfer and ask my closest RP friends to join with.
This reminds me of those people who like to stand in the middle of a very populated area and roleplay extremely embarrassing events. I really don’t understand it. At that point I figure that since they’re in public, I can sit there and watch them for amusement…

I’d just like to mention some things that I think would make a great finder:
- Cross-server grouping: if it’s restricted to searching in your own realm, it will likely take much longer for “older” dungeons like TA. I have a hard enough time finding groups right now, and that’s in overflow.
- The finder is only for groups: what I mean by this is that all this system does is find you a group, not port you to the dungeon. This way, people still have to either get out in the world or use waypoints.
- Level of detail: I certainly hope that the finder will allow us to specify things such as what path of the dungeon we want, what gear we have, what build we have, etc. This would easily be covered by a comment field.

Janson – the only time I ever “order” account bound stuff is when I want to move money from one character to another without moving that character’s position. I could just use wvw I guess, but I find this method faster.
I’ve also heard (and would assume) that bots use this to move large sums of money around on an account.

(whole bunch of snipping)
… those types of people as its relevance to the lore and story goes very little beyond ‘see I know you types buy the game and we’re including you!‘-not that I want it to go beyond that point mind you. Another interesting point is if it wasn’t included just to please some customers why then is it only displayed in ONE (again, not that I want more) story line in ONE race-a sentient salad at that, not even human where it would be most…hmm, somehow appropriate doesn’t seem the right word…you get my meaning though
Wow, this whole post sounded intelligent.

Before I started on my quest for a full TA light set, I didn’t think this was a good idea.
Now I can’t wait for it. I have had such horrible luck getting groups today… had one excellent group this morning (thank you if you see this, you were awesome), then didn’t get another group for almost three hours. When I did get the group, it was pretty horrible. Couldn’t even get past the vines… I may be more survival specced, but I’m still a Mesmer. I couldn’t make up for the other four people.
Here’s hoping that a group finder will make my life in TA easier.

My main is a Mesmer, and now that I’ve hit 80 and gotten most of my exotics I want to get the TA armor set. Trying to find pugs is time consuming and risky, so I’m hoping to find a guild that runs it often. I’m not on every day, but when I am on I’d be willing to do as many paths as I have time for. I have not done up or fwd/up yet, but I had no issues with fwd/fwd. My server is Tarnished Coast, but I’m not against guilds from other servers. Thank you for looking!

There has to be something going on, I farm the nodes in Dredgehaunt often myself (legitimately) to supplement my income, and the price has really been going down. Soon there won’t be a reason for me to spend my time doing it.

I hated Trahearne at first, but after leveling up to 80 and going back and finishing my story to where the Pact gets made (on my Sylvari char, so I knew him already) I actually… really like him. When I saw how he was introduced at Claw Island, I felt like he was a glory stealer. After going through the story more, it’s obvious that he doesn’t want to be there, and he doesn’t feel all the way up to the task. He even questions the pale tree when she gives him Caladbolg, saying that he’s just a scholar and isn’t good at fighting, couldn’t someone better do it? The pale tree comes off as kind of controlling, actually.
Edit: it’s been mentioned, but yes: Trahearne goes out of his way to thank you and try to redirect praise to you. It’s almost always the other characters that try to pin accomplishments on him. Also, how personable would YOU be if you lived in Orr alone for 25 years?

Ok so its sounds like you could counter the summon delay by having a subset of traits. So we fixed a bug that lets all those triats work together but that also makes them not able to exploit the delay anymore. Since it seems like they were working and mostly balanced without the delay I am going to go ahead and reduce the delay on this stuff to .25 seconds. I just tested it at 0 seconds and that breaks some other things so I think .25 is the best compromise.
Oh my god, I love you! It’s still slower than I’m used to, but it’s so much better now. Thank you for jumping on this right away! =D
