Why is it behaving differently?

This is something I have been wondering myself. Anyways, still bugged after last night…enemies have stopped even trying to dodge the phantasm now. Even they have noticed it doesn’t hit very hard.

And dodging the rogue won’t make him disappear. He can still attack.

His attack takes so long to hit after the initial attempt it’s crazy. If anyone is getting hit more than once by an iRogue they are doing something very very wrong.

Phantasm Attacks have names which, like most aspects of the Mesmer, haven’t been touched up since beta (we still have traits to increase clone damage after all, and their dmg was nerfed to nil). Off the top of my head, Rogue is Smoke Bomb (he used to throw blinding daggers and was our #2 skill), Zerker is Imaginary Burden, and Mage is Backfire.

Anyhow, the #3 skills are by and large meant to help you recover from downed, either by healing you or killing enemies or a mixture of both (or the Guardian). They are supposed to be a last ditch burst of damage, each has it’s trade offs. Guardian’s is very close proximity, but heals them too. Thief’s get more avoidance but can then combo into a big ambush attack with their 1 skill (though not as hard as normal since they get the stealth aspect too after all), Warriors get 15s to dish out as much damage as possible, possibly rallying if they kill something, etc. Mesmers get a Phantasm which has lower than average base damage but the potential to deal higher than average damage if the opponent doesn’t avoid the back stab. It fits the Mesmer theme, either you stand there and keep attacking/stomping me and take the full attack or avoid it and give me a respite.

Yea, the skill is working as intended. It only hits that hard if they are a glass cannon which is probably why they were on the ground in the first place. It’s hard to predict it’s use since, because of it’s long timer, it’s not used very frequently by Mesmers. I’m usually dead just before I could use it and half the time I do use it it doesn’t even seem to back stab the enemy like it’s supposed to.

This is all dependent on whether the RNG on my #2 decided whether or not it was going to teleport me into my enemies AoE or not.

The Mesmer downstate abilities while better than some other classes are not as amazing as people seem to make them out to be. I would trade our #2 for the elementalists mist form any day of the week.

OK, some of these aren’t great and definitely would need tweaking, but you get the idea.

Those are some pretty good ideas…I like marching orders for warriors, really gives them more of a front lines leadership role. Anet should start paying people for their good ideas and start using them.

Absolutely. I would think an Engineer possesses enough knowledge of how siege is made. As such, they frigging well should have been able to fix siege, from the outset.
Failing that, if I as a character, can use a blueprint … would an equivalent “repair kit”

I thought about that too! Although people would scream about imbalance…maybe if we make it so only Engineers can repair however they still have to use supply and make it cost a decent amount of supply to repair it. It would add another dimension to that class and WvW in general. Now that I think about it each class should have it’s own special mechanic in WvW.

Maybe make it so a Ranger can act as a scout and tag enemies on the world map…since they pretty much made orange swords obsolete. The tagging would only work while the ranger is within a certain radius of the enemies.

Thieves could scout the inside of an enemy keep, they could be stealthed but not able to attack anything think Recon mode…add some dogs in keeps that can reveal the thief and boot him out of this mode (teleporting them outside the keep into the awaiting arms of the keep guards). They should also be able to steal supply from enemy camps.

Guardians could make it so if they are inside a keep it will give the gate/walls a special damage reduction buff which doesn’t stack with other guardians (nothing crazy just a little extra edge to make it harder to tear down).

Warriors, being the generals that they are. They could make yaks move faster by default when they are escorting them and make a keep upgrade faster when they are in it.

Necromancers could summon additional undead guards inside a keep once the gate or walls are breached. Nothing crazy over powered and again they wouldn’t have additional guards based on how many necro’s there are and if the necro goes out of range of the area the minions all die and can’t be resummoned for X amount of time.

Make mesmers the anti Ranger tagging class where if there is a mesmer in the vincinity of the tagged group they have the ability to make random taggings show up on the map for a brief period of time and/or make it so a mesmer defending a keep can make it so the thief can’t scout the interior of a base as easily…illusionary patrols that help reveal the thief and get them booted out of “recon” mode or some sort of field around the base that would make it so Recon mode can’t be activated at that location.

Elementalists could make it so NPCs in a keep have a special earth shield or control the weather around a keep they are defending. Gusts of wind (on a decent cool down) to push back and knock people away from a gate for a few seconds. They could give gates a fire buff that applies burning to any rams that hit the door (can’t do a ton of damage but enough to be a concern when assaulting the keep) this would be countered by the engies repairing the rams.

Obviously there would need to be some serious balancing done to the ideas but that would spice up WvW very nicely.

Would there be an issue with resetting the ratings and then having a few weeks where no movement happens so the new ratings can build back up and then adjust accordingly?

I don’t have crazy in depth knowledge of the glicko system but it’s obviously flawed so I’m genuinely curious.

I wouldn’t mind conditions that make sense being applied to building. The example of burning is perfect. Obviously things like bleed, confusion, and poison don’t really make sense on an object the same way applying healing to it wouldn’t make sense.

As a side topic, anyone else think players should be able to repair siege?

Downed Skill #2 is still just a minor annoyance that maybe sometimes pays off if you’re lucky. I still haven’t read a single valid argument for it being overpowered.

And since this thread started about the iRogue and no one is even discussing that anymore it seems then it’s pretty obvious that it isn’t over powered either.

Is everyone having fun? Let’s just enjoy having a decent match up while it lasts, because as the saying goes “All good things must come to an end”. Let just keep having fun in the mean time and stop with all the “We couldn’t log into the server” , “GoM has spies! ZOMG”, “Haxxorz!”, and “PvDoor is all you do” rants. They started off lighthearted and tongue in cheek but the tone seems to have mutated into some sort of abomination as of late. We are all here to have a good time and, thus far, this is the most fun I have had in WvW since all the server hopping crap started skewing server populations.

TL;DR: Keep being rockstars you magnificent animals! :-)

The announcement was about monsters not resetting while you stealth, not about them totally ignoring stealth. Might have been a bug with the update.

It also doesn’t reset the agro table any more…which means they still hate the real you more than your clones despite you being invisible.

IMO, the downed system should be taken out of WvW together or if not, at least normalized where EVERYONE has the same abilities.

I can’t see the future or anything, but it’s a safe bet neither of these options will come to pass.

I know it’s probably impossible but if you want change to happen within the current WvW structure then one or two servers might need to take a week or a couple weeks off to let which ever server has the highest population get as many points as possible so they bust through the tier wall. There will be complaints from a lot of people which will make this solution unlikely but it will probably be faster than waiting for Anet to change what they need to fix this problem.

The number 2 is a port and a stealth.

It wins you between 2-3 second, even vs a good player. They can’t stomp you until they seee you.

I am well aware of how it works. However, even if it buys you 2-3 seconds which some times it doesn’t because lets be real people know how to AoE (since you know we are talking versus a good player) and even that can kill you…but for the sake of this argument let’s just say against a good player you get 2-3 seconds. You are still dead after that 2-3 seconds if they are a good player. I fail to see the problem here. I can tell you from lots and lots of personal mesmer downed state experience that these abilities are little more than a momentary inconvenience to my enemies if they are good. If they are bad…well…we shouldn’t balance this game around bad players, right?

The only real advantage to our #2 downed skill compared to other classes is against Bads who don’t know to Stomp the second mesmer that reappears (As the first is always the clone).

This, the effectiveness of a Mesmer downed or not is increased quite a bit when you’re playing against bad players.

WvW was pretty rough this weekend, large scale pvp is rough when one of your only real aoe damage sources hits like a wet noodle.

Since everyone seems to be overlooking it, and just yelling NERF THE MESMER like a mob with torches and pitchforks, let me remind you this: it takes a LONG time for the mesmer be able to use it. If you down a mesmer, you can just spike him. If he teleports spike him. The confusion doesn’t affect your spike. Even if the mesmer teleports, if you immediately spike him, he won’t even have a chance to use the illusionary rogue. Our downstate is one where we have no knockbacks, etc. Once again, the strength of the mesmer class is playing against people who just try to spam auto attacks, etc at us to kill us. The confusion a mesmer gives you does NOTHING, let me repeat in a megaphone: “NOTHING” if you just spike him. If hurts you only if you stand there auto attacking him down instead of finishing him. The teleport is fairly useless in a non-ZvZ setting, since most of the time it ports you into an AoE. So, the only time this skill comes in play, or our confusion comes in play, is if you see a downed mesmer and go “I won’t finish him, I’ll just auto attack him down”.

All of the mesmer down states are so easy to avoid by just running up and spiking him. We can’t do much damage initially, and before rogue is able to even be used you have time for over 3 spikes worth. You have to basically down us and forget we’re there, and stand perfectly still. So, no reason to nerf…just hit 1 key. Just 1 key. You’re finish key. That simple folks.

I agree, maybe the people calling for NERFs to this are the same people that I laugh at when I actually get to use my iRogue or the ones that keep auto attacking through the confusion stacks.

I guess the long and short of it is, if you get killed by a downed mesmer then you got what you deserved because we are very easy to deal with once we hit the dirt.

+1 for being a good sport about things. The lag and connection issues were awful for everyone, but this match has still been amazing. The atmosphere over here on GoM has been absolutely electric all week.

Can confirm as well, still isn’t doing damage anywhere close to what it used to. Maybe that update wasn’t in regards to this bug. Perhaps it was the illusionary lea kitten ue we were having? Either way it’s getting kind of difficult to put the hurt on people with my GS now in WvW. Hoping for a fix asap.

Edit: wow even Anets language filter is busted (figures).

Hey remember that one time where we had a 1v1 and you used an elite but I didn’t use an elite but to be fair you didn’t use your utilities but I did use my utilities and it was in the water and all the krait were on me and you stealthed but when you came out of stealth the quaggons were on you and the mosquitoes were in the distance and a zerg ran by single file and bowed one at a time and then together we dueled them and won?

That was a pretty good time.

As for PvD… just stop already please, you are embarrassing yourselves and your server (which i happen to like). When we logged in it was all blue, myself and rob are bot on GMT times, We were camped and fairly outnumbered…. just because you realised that we came into EB to fight back, you cant just say “ok lets everyone stop trying to fight them, because they will win, instead lets all leave and claim that they pvdoored us while we were asleep, it gives us a much better server image”

I will admit your numbers sucked by the time we took GoM keep, but for the hour prior to that your numbers were very equal to our own, but maybe after we took SM and a few towers some players lost morale. Or maybe they legitimately went to sleep but what do you want us to do? log off? Would you like to see the videos of your defenders actively trying to stop us? I don’t have them uploaded yet but if you so request I will.

As for hacks. no one on NSP actually thinks GoM hacks (except for trolls) We all recognise that there was a server glitch, unfortunately some people abused that glitch more than others, but a few does not a bad server make.

Can we all just stop the QQ and the hacks/spies/teaming up (not sure what gom and hod beef is, but trust me, NSP will fight both with equal respect, we never want a repeat of what happened to us)

I do notice that our downtime seems to correlate with GoM uptime and vica versa, that is unfortunate, But the keeps were by far not defenceless, 2 days ago we fought for almost 2 hours in GoM keep

Can’t really say for sure as I wasn’t really a part of the pvd discussion but I took comments on both sides to be light hearted trash talking. I say that because it still seems like they respect each other and are just laughing each other off.

FACTS FOR A CHANGE
- I have been playing WvW 5h+/hours per day for the last 4 months.
- I’ve been very active in the WvW Alliance, organization, communication
- I have NEVER EVER seen a spy feeding us information, NEVER EVER seen a GoM player hack in any way I could tell, NEVER EVER heard of any plan of organized/active WvW players in the GoM community to go against the rules.

A WORD OF ADVICE
- First of all, you don’t come here and throw empty accusations at a server. Respect. Or everyone will just take you for a Bad Troll.

Got infracted myself jportell, apparently they didn’t like me questioning why the original thread was closed when it’s not confirmed it was a bug or not. I just hope the people in charge are getting the message that the player base is confused as to whether or not we got nerfed.

Yeah, still has compounding bolts. I was about to flip out if they stealth nerfed its dmg.

They did stealth nerf the damage, compounding bolts or not. My iZerker is hitting no where near as hard as it used to.

If this is aimed at me could you please point out where I said not wanting to put up with a bug is negative ? Read my first post in this thread……I stand by what I said in it.

Clones are not a way to stay hidden amongst them indefinatly. Anyone who is not a scrub in WvW wouldn’t have to look at your clones to check for weapons as they will quickly pick up on the real mesmer.

So I stand by my closing statement that it caused no real issue.

It’s more centralized around a growing trend of responses that seem to display this attitude. To be fair I don’t see where you explicitly say this, but the implication is that because the bug isn’t affecting your play style it’s not, as you say, a “real issue”.

It affects other people’s play style and it’s obviously a bug, so yes…this is an issue.
