This is a deceptive post.

It’s “only two weeks, if you already have the crafting proficiency, the materials”

Now imagine the WvW player who has no interest in crafting, he cannot get the lower end materials to level up the craft in WvW in sufficient quantities to begin with.

It’s a terrible bit of flawed game design.

-Second: There is NO higher tier content being added with ascended weapons. Meaning you don’t even need them for any part of the game other than just having them with their MINIMAL stat increase. If you don’t want one, don’t craft one. It will not matter.

Capitalizing “minimal” does not make it true. An effective >10% damage increase on skills due to base damage and stat inflation on Ascended Weapons is most definitely not minimal. It’s actually quite large… especially in WvW.

I take it you didn’t read the part where its slightly possible to get them as drops. Just because you don’t want to craft them doesn’t mean they will be handed to you, you have to work for them in some way be it crafting or killing things.

Oh I did, they said “very rarely”.

If you understand what “very rarely” means for drops in WvW you will understand it translates to “once per year…maybe”.

You think it’s OK for me to wait 18 years to replace all my weapons? I sure don’t.

Serious question, what about the players who do not enjoy crafting, have never crafted?

You’re going to make only one avenue for obtaining AWs, and make that avenue based on a sidemechanic that a lot of players find tedious, uninteresting and is biased towards PvE play? Really?

What happened to “play how YOU like” and “Every player can get the same rewards via THEIR preferred mode of play” ?

I’m actually very annoyed with this short-sighted and obvious money grab.

Why?

Because Ascended weapons are only being implemented to boost Gem sales.

Because Arenanet knows that a lot of us have no crafting leveled up, and Arenanet knows that a lot of players will end up needing to buy a massive amount of low-end materials off the TP, which in turn will entice some of them to buy gems and exchange them for gold.

It’s disgusting, the GW2 Manifesto is a lie.

@devon Does your team even have a stakeholder status regarding item changes? Because you kitten ed well should.

I cannot see any reason whatsoever for WvW players to be forced to level up crafting professions (for which the resources are exceptionally limited in WvW) in order to compete with less-dedicated WvW folk who will waltz into the battlefields with their PvE ascended weapons.

If you guys were serious about your manifesto (which I strongly doubt) you need to implement other means of obtaining these items BEFORE releasing them.

It worked well with exotics (took you a long time to get it right in WvW) making them available via Drop, craft, karma and later badges in wvw, but now you’re screwing it up again with the ascended weapons.

I urge you to stop. We all want to love this game, but it’s precisely this sort of poor inter-team communication and ill-conceived grind mechanics that I don’t want to deal with, which is why I came to your game…

hopefully with coming structure will be able to split zergs into several groups:) and some free wxp pugs will probably leave:)

“Pugs” definitely come in various shapes and sizes. SFR has a really strong core of “pugs” that only play WvW, are on TS, do what they’re asked (and often scout towers etc. for commanders) and are generally an assets to our WvW strength.

And then there is a whole clump of randoms who just sorta do whatever, chase the commander tag and die a lot because they are not on TS.

Hopefully the latter category will (if they enjoy WvW) eventually evolve to join the former, or just leave.

I do feel it’s important for commanders to take an inclusive stance (i.e. “hey guys, come join us on TS and get more bags!”) rather than an exclusive one (i.e…. aliendreamer on a bad day raging at them on TS, where they can’t hear him but he kitten es off the good pugs)
. Being exclusive and elitist is pointless if you need these bodies in order to hold the whole map.

Overall I feel WvW on SFR is generally in a good spot, and I personally have a lot of fun with it almost every day.

I’m fairly concerned that the WvW community will get shafted on this…

It’s asymmetrical and ugly;

A PvE player will get the gear, and can go into WvW if they choose

A WvW player must go into PvE to obtain a complete set of gear

How in the hell does that fit in with Arenanet’s supposed “play how YOU want” partyline?

Props to Viz for the amazing fight for Bay yesterday afternoon. I spent two hours on a wall and in the breach on inner. It felt like it came straight out of 300.

We held against massive numbers, but only just. Good thing reinforcements arrived on our end after like an hour and a half.

Well fought, it was fun!

Do you feel running apothecary is really worth it as opposed to running straight rabid?
The scaling on healing power is pretty meh imho.
(15% on adrenal health, 5% on healing signet)

You’d gain quite a lot more damage with rabid (along with stacking more bleeds from crits)

While I can sort of understand this due to the frequency at which Champion tier mobs are molested in WvW, it does feel kinda sad that (as per usual) WvW players don’t get anything out of a patch.

And yes, supply mastery is effectively ‘nothing’.

When can we expect a retuning of WvW loot?
Why can WvW players not get the new weapon skins (since we do not get champion loot)?
Can we at least expect WvW-unique weapon skins sometime soon instead?
When can WvW players expect to purchase weapons and jewelry in all stat distributions? (you did it for armor, now finish the job).

WvW condition build question

Torments is just bleeding essentially so not worth going into DS for it. Skill 2 is ok, and 3 for fear for control, but its not overly synergistic with a pure condition build.

DS is your survival tool, gap closer and crowd control.

Torment does quite a bit of damage in condition build, but that’s not why you go in DS.

What you want to use DS 5 for is the root at the END of the channel, you can use this offensively and defensively.

DS 4 is wonderful for tagging and keeps your DS up longer if you need to extract yourself from a zerg in WvW (combine this with 5 to damage and root pursuers)

DS 3 is less useful if you’re not running Terror (I don’t know why you don’t want to tbh, Terror synergizes extremely well with condition builds) but still decent to get troublesome people off your case.

DS 2 is… unreliable but can be amazing situationally.

Last Gasp trait is an absolutely lifesaver in wub.

I feel the soul reaping traits you can get for 20pts far outweight the poor healing you get from Blood. Siphoning does NOT heal you equally to the damage you deal at all.

Personally, I don’t bother with siphoning. It heals for so little it doesn’t really feel worth it.
I put those twenty points into Soul Reaping instead to benefit from Cooldown reduction on DS skills (moar slorpslorp bag-tagging!), last Gasp and Master of Terror (because I do run terror).

If you’re not interested in Terror, you can pick up soul marks here which is pretty helpful.

I run full rabid condi necro (without dhuumfire even) and I do perfectly fine in WvW, I can pressure zergs very hard am really hard to kill and can take down most things 1v1 without too many problems.

The only real issue I have is lack of stability, and it’s relatively easy to escape me if you’re not already a walking dead man due to condi stacks.

I really like the Khilbron/Seer set on my necro. I feel it’s the closest thing to the GW1 cultist-type armors.

I have a transmuted Deathwish (transmuted it onto a Rabid staff) for the same reason, as it’s basically the GW1 bonestaff model.

My scepter and dagger are Jade models, which match my armor’s dyes.

Statwise, I run full rabid in every slot, since I’m a WvW condition necro.

Wasn’t bragging and I didn’t say OP… but necro (attrition class) doing as much damage as it does now is a bit much. It does need a bit of tweaking but not a chainsaw. Unfortunatly a-net isn’t exactly known for that : /

I’ve bolded the part where your internal logic is messing up. You were used to necros doing laughable damage and pressure… and now they do damage more in line with the other classes.

This is a good thing, not a bad thing.

CONDITIONmancers can now burst just as fast as a glass cannon thief or warrior and with DS, great peels, CC and a buffed weakness, you have more survivability than these two, something is just wrong with this. Speaking of strictly sPvP.

If you think condimancer bursts as hard as glass cannon thieves you are either delusional or terrible at math.

Condi feels pretty good now, I’ve not really changed much from my previous build except I use spectral wall in my 7 slot (I use this slot very fluidly, swapping between wall, corrupt boon or grasp at my needs dictate).

I play WvW exclusively though, plague into DS 5/4 is quite good for mass bag collecting

I’m not sure if I feel terror is “too good” currently, people seem to be exaggerating necro burst imho.

Lately I’ve started dropping corrupt boon for Well of suffering (and I take Focused Rituals for it) when I’m doing WvW and I’m not solo roaming. (easy enough to swap back if needed)

I feel it’s very strong against zergs and gives you an additional ranged AoE tool in sieges.

Let’s take a look here…

Necro problems are too many to list. But the top ones are

-No damage avoidance.

Nonsense, Necromancer is easily one of, if not THE, most durable class in the game when it comes to taking it on the chin and living to tell the tale (Deathshroud soaking, Plagueform, Spectal armor, enormous base HP pool)

-No escape gadget.

This is somewhat true, more accurate would be no easy escape gadget, but we do have a plethora of cripples, fears and a somewhat useful ability to fall off mountains and live in two different ways

-Very mediocre damage.

Conditionmancer damage is not mediocre at all, neither is juggermancer damage. What you mean to say is “not blatantly OP damage like thieves”. Which is silly.

-Conditions too easily removed in zergs.

Again, not true at all. I play condition necro in WvW pretty much daily and my epidemics are not dealt with very effectively by the enemy at all. The key here is to bait out premature condition removal, and THEN applying the pain.

-Bleed cap, which hurts a lot since bleed is a condimancer’s primary damage.

Never an issue in WvW, and directly opposed to your earlier complaint of “too much condition removal”.

-Skull Fear, a thief stolen skill from a necro, fears 3 times longer than necro skills.

This is, legitimately, one of the most stupid things in GW2, and I feel it needs to be fixed… it’s nonsensical and blatantly unfair.

-Crazy cast times, specially channelling.

There are several spells with a pretty annoying casttime, grasping dead, enfeebling blood come to mind as an example.

-Crazy cool down times, specially signets.

…Signets always have long cooldowns. As it stands the cooldown on ours, or on our other spells, does not seem particularly long or annoying really. I don’t see a problem here.

-Many bugs that are still not fixed, with some that seems very easy to fit. For exampe staff mark size indicator. This indicates that very little time is spent on the necromancer by Anet.

Staff mark size indicator is largely a cosmetic non-issue imho, the only persistant issues I run into are:

-[Bug] Spectral grasp and Corrupt Boon are extremely unreliable and unpredictable
-[Usability] It’s really easy to accidentally cancel plagueform/deathshroud because the toggle-off is the same keybind as the toggle-on

condition necro is a very peculiar and specific playstyle, it’s very strong; but I can definitely imagine it’s not everyone’s “thing”

Problem in WvW is the fact that those walls makes many of our attacks miss outright… Those walls, seriously…. They break LoS alot…
Just an example, the Veteran Archers can plink me but I cant hit em with my scepter because they are obscured… If only Epidemic was instant cast instead of the very long animation I would be alot happier.

Here’s a nice tip for you then. You can hit veteran archers with grasping dead, enfeebling blood

you can then drop mark of blood and chillblains on top of that and fire the epidemic.

Great way to catch people further back off guard, and clear towers.

As someone above mentioned, necro is very good in WvW, but I don’t feel roaming is their niche.

I primarily play conditionmancer, and they really are living siege engines. Well placed epidemics clear walls of defenders, decimate ram teams and mark of the reaper allows the crafty necromancer to load a frontliner full of nastiness, send em packing into their friends and detonate them like a delicious bleed-bomb.

Condition necros do… ok at best against thieves, and only if you can see them coming, but their do excel at ruining mesmers and bunker eles.

I’ve done some power necro stuff, but it’s just not my taste in playstyle.

On the other hand, there is a dude on SFR that uses a hybrid-like build, mostly with staff and ranged wells that does some SCARY things to zergs.

In summary, necro good; but probably not the best for roaming.

I feel that the trait lines in general need a complete reorganization, the weapon-related traits are oddly spread over multiple lines, the stat boosts are attached in a strange way to the trait lines as well (power and condition duration, wut?) and the whole thing is rather sub-optimal.

I’m all for meaningful choices which can have drawbacks (you can get A, but not A + B ) but there is a limit…

I’m leveling a condition necro in WvW (70 now, almost there) and I don’t feel useless. I’m not terribly good in 1v1 situations but when I am applying pressure through conditions at range almost constantly; or when I run through a fleeing group in plague form with cripples I am most certainly contributing.

It’s true that you don’t get a fair amount of lootbags, but condition necro certainly has a place in WvW; just remember you are a support/pressure type character.

We are now at the point where Vizuna Square players are purposefully moving away to " restealth " into culling.

This is just unplayable and not very fun. Unacceptable for a 2012 " game of the year " game.

I can’t purchase gems anymore. The ‘Proceed to PayPal’ button stays grey and I can’t click it.

And it annoys me that I need to fill out my information every time I want to purchase gems. It’s bothersome.
