Actually, now that it isn’t character-based…these karma consumables will likely become obsolete. It would make far more sense to simply award a given amount of karma rather than a consumable that serves no purpose.

I disagree here. If they just award us the standard karma points from the jugs we would miss out on the karma bonus from food, guild banners, and other boosters. Keep giving me the jugs if this is the case.

I can almost bet the watchknight are going to turn into Star Wars episode II: Attack of the clones. She replaces the shining blade guarding her with droids….

I like this thread. Here are my “votes” to the above, or new names.

Karka - I like Rumble, but a what about a Bowling of Karka (cause I feel like a pin when I get hit by one)
Griffon - a Pride of Griffon (Lions)
Unicorn - I like a Rainbow of unicorn (just like the legendary shortbow) alternative mix Narwhal and horse together (pod and herd) to get a “Perd of Unicron”. I believe the current standard however, is a Blessing of Unicorn
Quaggan- a Qoo of Quaggan
Harpy- a Seige of Harpy (Anyone who plays fractals knows what their arrows do, and this is a bird plural) but flock fits any bird type
Skelk - an Appearence of skelk (since the just teleport to you)
Krait - a Slither of Krait
Dragons - what is more bad-kitten than a Guild of Dragons (this is Guild Wars after all)

Complaining about not getting what you expected from a RNG item is what is getting tired and childish. People compaining about every new Living world event, achievement, and minigame is what is getting tired and childish. The same arguement applies to both. You don’t have to do it if it is not fun for “YOU”…not all aspects are fun to everyone, but every time you log in, you get to choose what you want to do in-game.

Also buying 50 BL chests now instead of holding off for the potential of Evon winning the election and potentially getting ~100 chests for the same price is just plain dumb, so I can’t even take his complaint seriously. It’s like when one of my kids hits her knee on the table and then gets made at the table. The only person to blame is yourself, the table did not change.

A few nights ago I hit up to 4.7 GHz on my processor and saw my temperature go into the higher 40’s. I know CPUs can handle this and all.. but I never like my processor going that high. That and the heat generated in my bedroom makes it hard to sleep later xD

BTW…other than the helm, I think the charr above looks better in that armor than the human. However a charr in in medium or light armor is a joke. The one armor I like on my ranger charr is the vigil armor with the dragon helm.

Upgraded my CPU fan yesterday and tested it out.

Previously when I overclocked the CPU from 3.3Ghz to 3.9Ghz I got temp spikes at 3 of 4 cores that went up to 75C-78C on certain events. With the new cpu fan, and the top case fan turned up from medium to high I was able to keep all cores below 62C during these CPU intensive events.

So what is the FOV that is currently being used and does it change based on the resolution you pick in game?

For instance if you pick a 4:3 resoluton the FOV should be 90, vs if you pick a 16:9 or 16:10 the FOV should be around 106.

Do you expect every single gold coin has a sticker on it with the name of the person who lost it? How do you plan on returning a currency like that? Beside the point, do you really want a softy running a city of pirates? That’s like saying the Charr should make a carebear their leader because he’s more cuddly.

Why, when you kill a person, do they appear in mist form on top of you?… Yesterday i killed about 3 people, then these go to mistform and appear near me. This obviously leads to these people trying to take revenge and i will get karka’s and traps on my head… At the same time, the guy that picked 5 food in the begin and afk’s in a camp does not kill anyone and therefor does not get killed by people in mistform.

The obvious answer is that you killed them and therefor they get the chance to take revenge…. but I dont really understand why they made it this way, you seem to get punished for killing more people, while the people that are less active do not get hit. Why not make the spawn of dead people random?

Have you never seen hunger games? You are trying to survive, not necessarily kill everyone. This is not a shooter, you have to use some restraint and strategy. Perhaps kill at the beginning when you can still get away with it, or hideout until it is just you and one other person. They purposely made it so that if you just go around killing people YOU are making it harder for you.

The one thing I have an issue with however, is that you seem to get more points for killing and trapping, andnothing for surviving longer.

The only skewing achievement is southsun survival. It takes approximately 10x longer to get the achivement there then it does in the Aspect Arena. Therefore people will be giving 10x the support to Evons game over Kiels in order to get the achivement.

This is fine by me, I want him to win.

You dont need to have your support badge on to play this game and get the achievments. This skews nothing.

I think the scoring needs to be adjust a bit for the Survival game. I made to the final 2 three times and my name never even made the top 10?! I did not kill alot, mostly gather, but I always had at least 1 kill and one 1 trap set off. Shouldn’t I get in the top 5 for making it to the final 2?

Does anyone have a better break down of the scoring system? Link?

Here is my 2cents after doing some OC to my cpu and testing temps with GW2. I slowly OC my cpu from 3.3Ghz to 3.9Ghz. The cpu is 30C idle, and when GW2 is on, is around 50C-60C. However in the areas that drop the framerates down to the low 20s, (Jormag especially) my cpu temp spiked to 78C for a short period. Software can and will overheat your cpu.

I turned my OC down (for now), cleaned my case, turned up my fans, and ordered a better aftermarket CPU fan. I own an Antec 900 case (huge top fan) and generally due to the sheer number of fans, it runs cool for most games. GW2 uses more of the cpu than most games though and is my bottleneck instead of the video card.

If the system is properly maintained, software will never overheat a computer. Running the system at 100% for hours is fine and if this causes overheating, then either something isn’t attached properly to disperse the heat or you are knowingly making your parts exceed their rated values (overclocking). At which point, you know more heat is being generated from the additional voltage and switching that is occurring and have to consider the consequences of such.

As I mentioned I was overclocking and testing its limits. I did not change the voltage at all. The software (GW2) does affect the temp of the CPU depending on the load to each core. Even when I was not overclocking I could see the temp go up at certain in-game events (the same events that cause the lower fps). This temp increase became more appearent once I started to OC. I cannont merely OC my cpu and turn on a game and call it good reading the temps in Lions arch. I have to find one of these world events to test the maxed out temp of the cpu.

I am upgrading my cpu fan in lieu of upgrading the cpu because of the current lack of price/performance I would get on an 1155 motherboard. It just sucks that a pretty decent i5 3550 with a high end video card (GTX 770 4GB) cannot seem to break 20fps at 1680×1050 in these areas (dragons, fire ele, WvW…etc.). I do thank you for all your help and insight on the matter.

I have an i7 2600K and a GTX 770, 2560×1440 everything turned up to max, 60 dead, although in lions arch and in a few zones, with supersampling, the fps can drop to around 50.

I too have a GTX 770 4GB version running a 1680×1050 resolutions. With most things set to high. I get 60fps in most areas but in LA it drops to 40s and events it drops to 20s. The bottleneck in my case is the CPU, not the video card. Mine is a i5 3550 overclocked to 3.9Ghz. Be sure to upgrade both to get the best fps for this game.

Since both the waypoints and keys are temporary, the only real vote is which Fractals map sounds better. To any GW1 player….I would guess Abbadon.

For newer GW2 players that play fractals ask yourself…do I want to see another Asuran area or something that looks completely new and unique?

As far as the chest and RNG, you still have a chance at getting something valuable that could make up for any small savings you get during the 4 weeks of cheaper waypoints. Heck even a single karma booster alone could rack you up some gold if you do a karma train with the orrian chests.

Anybody?…is that Fraps, some other software, or can you type an “emote” to get those stats?

I seriously doubt the GTX 770 is your bottleneck. Maybe in other games, but not Guild Wars 2 unless you’re running a triple monitor setup at 5760 by 1080. Likely its your CPU that is your bottleneck with Guild Wars 2.

Sorry, I meant CPU above, not GPU. I know the CPU is my bottleneck. Do you know what he is using to get the fps and temps on the top left of his pictures? Is that FRAPS?

What is weird is that in his picture, it does not look like it is using much of his CPU or GPU and neither is very warm. He could overclock the CPU some, but can he force it to use more?

Hey James, what are you using to get your fps and temps as an overlay in-game? I want something that can do temps, because I plan to overclock my CPU some since I too am running into similar problems after purchasing a new GTX770. I found out that the CPU is my bottleneck so I want to get every bit of juice out of it that I can.

Ilithis Mithilander.3265, thanks for the great insight. Would the i7 be helpful if I’m running raidcall or mumble and GW2stuff in the background or i5 is still enough? I assume the K models allow for more overclocking if I recall correct?

Because right now going from a 3550 to a 3570 would not be a big gain unless the K model is the key to getting as much out of overclocking as possible. Are any of the graphics options CPU dependant or heavy (so that I can turn them down)?

Maybe I should have just purchased a better CPU instead and spent the rest on gems in-game, had I known…..grr. What is funny is that I can change the shadows and rendering from medium to high or supersampling and see no drop, but I cannot seem to get my fps over 20-30fps in certain areas. I will try to turning off the shaders and shadows all together tonight.

What kind of CPU should I be looking at to get a constant 45fps or better with my current specs and resolution?

Hello all. I just recently replaced my GTX460 SLI setup with a single GTX 770 4GB card. I am only running it at 1680×1050, so I expected a huge increase in framerate. In LA I am still seeing a drop to 35fps and in battles it drops to ~24fps. This card should be able to handle 1980 or better. Is there something bottlenecking the video card or is it somehow not connected correctly or an options I forgot to set?

The oldest component is my powersupply. Also does it make a difference if i use DVI-I over HDMI or visa versa? It is suspious that both the video card setups seem to have very similar framerates at each location. This makes me wonder if I’ve been bottlenecking the video card this whole time by something else in my setup or Bios.

I 100% concur! I love the new movements, the area is stunning with the amount of detail put into each piece of bamboo. The new achievement panel and rewards rock, and I even enjoyed the drinking game.

I like the merchant trade-ins found there and the fruit and nut karma merchant. Please make them permanent somewhere!! Keep up the great work.

Using water and belching, is not bluffing. Still use those, just not the bluff once he starts to us his special skill more (usually at about 50%). Then use the special skill where you take less damage per drink when he forces you to drink. This recharges your belch faster and you tag him again.

It looks like Zappix beat him exactly how I did, so that infers that some skill and strategy is involved.

I have beaten them all. Adnul is the hardest and does require some luck, but also thought and good skill selection. If you think it has nothing to do with skill it is because you do not know what you are doing or what they are using against you. I can’t believe you would use such a harsh word like “Disgraceful” for free content that is completely optional.

For instance I had beaten the Sylvaria and then moved on to the Charr. I would not die from him but at the same time I could not kill him. He seemed to be able to heal himself for almost half. So then rather than just whine and complain (not referring to you but other threads here) I moved on to the human. Once I beat her, I realized she had the special skill I needed to beat the charr. I went back to the charr, battled it out with him until he got down to half and then used her special skill to win on my first go around.

Same goes with Adnul. He makes you drink….so, use the special skill that makes your drink less potent. Yes it does suck that they can use their skill multiple times, but that is the challenge. I did however hear they were going to “fix” Adnul a bit, but he can be beaten now as is (and with out a pie).

There is way too much complaining on this forum over small nit picky, non-important stuff. Here you open a new thread, complain about it and then add that you don’t even plan on doing ANY of the achievements…..WTF?!

Not every acievement is easy and meant for everyone to accomplish right away. No one HAS to do any of them. Find the ones you like, and do those. Simple as that. Yes this kite is in WvW, but the WvW players were having tons of fun in this area fighting their way to the top like “king of the hill”. You can’t just come in here and solo it like a jump puzzle. You need to work as a team to get this one, and like most of WvW, the time of day and server does play a role. Maybe wait till Friday (WvW reset) and see if you’re up against easier opponents.

The person below your post said it beautifully (Ursan.7846) . Its a challenge, and it should be all the more sweeter when you complete a harder achievement. Too much of the youth today just expect things handed to them….just sad.

I would love it, if in the home instance you have your own house that you could “decorate” how you want with the nicknacks. So the journal you can put on a bookshelf, the model you put on your endtable or whatever…etc. as your collection grows.

Maybe certain achievements or titles open up wall art, for instance maxing out a greatsword allows you to hang a sword on the wall. Defeating Zaitan in storymode allows you to hang a painting of your triumph…etc.

“Total disappointment over this update”…..This is just a bad title for the thread, you should be disappointed with your internet service provider, not the game update. This is one of the best looking and unique updates I have seen from either GW1 and GW2 combined. It has a Cantha feel and seems very refinded and polished.

Some of the jumps are frustrating and ocassionally the lightning pull does not get you to your target location, but the movments are soo cool and unique that I get back up, dust myself on and try it again. You also have to remember to pick your skills wisely and keep charged because the worst is when you make it near a node, and you just used up one of your critical skills. But challenge is good.

I personally suck at the races, but still have fun. If they added crafting to this town, I would never go back to LA. I love that they added a Karma merchant that sells all the fruits and nuts that you normally have to track down througout the world. PLEASE add this guy to LA when the Bazaar leaves!!

They even found out what we have an over abundance of in terms of materials and are giving us the chance to get the market balanced again by being able to purchase boxes with materials and sweets. You can see they are balancing it since the cost per leather is not a straight line as you get to T6. The T5 is very common, so you need a full 250 to purchase a box.

Taking all this into account plus the achievement rewards and panel update,….how can you be disappointed?! Seriously, I think you owe Anet an apology.

I don’t own GW1, and had enjoyed casually racing with my friends to see who could get the most achievement points. Now suddenly they’re pushed 500 points up, a gap I’m never going to realistically close (we have around 8000 points now so all the easy pickings are gone!).

I wouldn’t mind if they went off and did a bunch of stuff in GW2 and raced ahead of me. I’d be impressed and pleased for them.

But the fact that they’ve been rewarded (again) for things they did in a completely different game is a bit sad, and has removed the fun of that race for me.

If this is all that is bothering you the answer is simple. Find out how many points your “friends” got from GW1 and subtract that out from the final tally. You can now go back to competing against them.

I’m usually including my friends and achieving points together when possible, not soloing against them. To me we both win and it usually goes faster but to each their own….hope this solves your small problem though.

I hope they fix this. Basically it looks like the wings are flapping backwards. I’m running forward but it looks like I am backpeddling. If they just reverse the animation, it might look correct?
