Thank you Anet for this and the new dye system. This makes thing soooo much easier and cleans out some of my storage space big time!.

My understanding after careful reading, is that for costumes, if it was purchased as one set it remains as a set. However if it was purchased as just a single item, like a glove, then that item shows up as a seperate selection in the gloves sections for any of your toons.

However I am curious about what happnes to the extra items that came with the costumes, like the broom you fly on or the black cat?

How did it feel to stomp out Scarlet?...

Well to be fair if you looked at your Living Story UI it tells you. When you start there are three Living Story Points of Interest in ascending order. First is the Marionette. Second is escorting the Vigil for the Wurm. Third and last is heading to LA to meet with some friends. After that, all is left to do is hunt down Scarlet’s Secret Lair.

Where do I find this? The only thing I got was a letter and for some reason it only shows on the first toon that opened it? I can’t find it on my main toon. The HUD on the right side of my screen only shows my daily and monthly achievements.

Hey guys,

You must participate in the marionette encounter in order to progress to the step where you go to LA. You do not have to WIN the fight, only participate. Once you participated that step should go away.

How are we supposed to know this?! A mail update would have been nice. Our personal story progress always stands out and shows our toon where to go next and what to do….something the living stories seem to forget to add. You guys see the big picture and have a clear progression in your heads, but we as players (for the most part) are running around like head-less moas. If it wasn’t for Dulfy, I would have given up on a few living story metas by now. We should not have to go to Dulfy to figure out what to do, where to go, and what a meta achievement requires. This should be better communicated somehow…maybe similar to the personal story progressions? Please continue to work on this aspect.

I agree 100%. No one knew what to do on the fights…especially the wurm one. An NPC giving us “battle plans” would be great!

And contrary to what someone else posted, no one figures it out by trial and error in GW2…especially large zerg fights. We all go to Dulfy to figure out the strategy (which should be partially be in-game as stated above) or follow a Dorito head around who went to Dulfy to read the strategy.

The Tequatl fight itself is not hard but does require competent gunners and 2 small groups guarding the gunners. Basically 6-8 people can make or break this fight. Most groups like TTS go to an overflow on purpose to make sure that people are not afk around the guns. Too many players around the guns = champ spawn.

Group chat is still very helpful in this battle, and there is still too much downtime prior to the actual fight trying to get into the right overflow and get the right people to the right spots. I fear the wurms will be this way also….meaning only large cross server guilds will get this done on a daily basis. A small non-coordinated group in any of these 3 fights could ruin it for the other 90+ players….that’s a bit unforgiving for a world event that occurs once every 2+hrs.

I think you’re getting Democratic confused with Capitalism. If GW2 was a democratic system, players would have a say in the decisions made by Anet but we have little to no say in them. We can only request things, or leave the game if we don’t like it.

Capitalism is the opposite of socialism.

No, I meant Democratic although the 2 (Capitalism) often go hand in hand and I probably used them both when making my case above. I was however, talking about our characters in-game in my previous comment, not us as players. Our toons were involved in an elections between 2 representitives and in-game we each pay a “tax” on any item we buy or sell, we pay for our own repairs/heals and waypoints.

I definately would not want Anet to change the taxes and waypoints to the Socialist suggestion that I first responded to, even as a player would probably be in the bottom 75% not having to pay. And if it was based soley on gold, then people could scam their way out of the top 25% by buying up rare materials or buying legendarys/pre legendary or other items like gems to keep their gold amount low vs someone who choses to save it, and now gets penalized for it. It would just be too messy to implement… not to mention unfair as well IMO.

A gold sink is needed only for the wealthy players who can drive up the price. It would be very simple to tax let’s say the total wealth of the top 25% daily to keep down inflation. The casual player isn’t going to be a problem. Since a lot of items are account or soul bound and therefore worthless to everyone else they shouldn’t be taxed, but all sellable items should be. I am sure the 75% who aren’t being taxed wouldn’t have a problem with it. Even better that money should be transferred to the poorer players. This sounds familiar some how.

But GW2 was built around a Democratic system where everyone pays thier own way for what they use/have. Why should I pay for you to waypoint around?! If you want to waypoint then you pay for it. It is not required in order to play the game, it is an optional benefit. If you want to save some money then simply don’t use it. If you get a good exotic drop worth 100s’ of gold why should I have to pay the 15% for you to post it on the TP?! You will more than get it back once the item is sold.

This is a game with fake money!!! Gold sinks are necessary. But there are always options to both save and make money. No one NEEDs a specific look to an armor or weapon in order to be “even”. Just be glad that we don’t have to pay monthly with REAL money to play this game….or would you expect me to pay your monthly fees also?!

Draknar, I enjoyed reading all your rebutals and agree with you 100% about the Wintersday / Christmas arguement.

You’re basically asking Anet to donate real money for donations made by millions of players with fake money….LOL

It would make more sense if Anet had a tab in their Store called: Donation or Charity. Selecting this tab lets all players purchase Gems for real money and select 1 of X number of charities. Then ~50% of the money went to the charity selected on behalf of the GW2 community once a year as a big lump sum check.

The cash to Gems transition would not be as good as the regualur market rate because WE the community would need to make a sacrafice (not just Anet). This ensures that Anet still makes money on regular cash to Gems purchases. Or maybe only have this option open on Wintersday or after a major crisis in the world (like the Japanese tsunami).

I have found 1 necro really speeds up fractals if the necro comes with the correct support. People used to be against me joining as a nercro until doing a run. Wells are the key. I can add 25 stacks of vunerability to an enemy group allowing zerkers to down enemies faster. Wells that perma blind meant no damage for short times, this was useful throughout the charr map, or at harpies, meant no knock downs. Wells that turned conditions into boons or removed boons were key throughout various fractals.

Would I want more than 1 thief or necro…no, but i find 1 of each pretty helpful, if they are competent, and by the time they hit 30 the majority seemed to be. If I had to pick a team of 5 unique classes, I would go: Necro, guardian, warrior, mesmer, thief.

Heck no, the frags are the best reward from fractals by far. I have 60 stacks of dragonite ore and <100 fragments. We need more fragments, not less.

100% agree!!! I have 18 stacks of bloodstone, about 8 stacks of dragonite ore, and just over 1 stack of emp fragments. They are the hardest to obtain even when I have 2 of my toons parked at the end of a jump puzzle. The bloodstones are sooo common that I have already thrown away 3-4 stacks if not more. The dragonites ores are very easy to get on world bosses and in WvW after capping a castle, plus you get 15-30 dragonite ores, whereas the best JP only gives about 9 Empyreals.

Keep fractals with fragments! I am sure Anet already knew this fact when deciding on fragments though.

There was an informal poll somewhere. Of the people who attempted Liadri, about 60% eventually managed to beat her.

Though I have to toss in a few disclaimers, as my memory isn’t perfect. That 5% maybe thrown out by Josh Foreman and the Clocktower, also, not too sure……

But regardless, there is plenty of evidence of Anet underestimating players. How shocked they were at how fast players got exotics, etc.

I think you are way off. The poll is not reflecting the entire GW2 player base, just those that made it to her and either beat her, or got so frustrated they entered the poll. The majority of the players don’t come to/write in the forums enough to make that a valid poll. There were still a lot of players that could not even get to Liadri….especially after a few patches that fixed some of the previous fights. It is probably a lot closer to 5% than 60%.

The vocal forum public tends to be the die-hard over achievers or people who are having problems.

Unfortunately the change doesn’t apply to items that have already been acquired. Ultimately that’s what I wanted but there was a pretty severe technical limitation on this, so we thought it would be better to make the newly items work this way rather than postpone the conversion any longer.

Also, at higher Fractal levels the weapon skins become more common, and also start dropping in a container that lets you pick the one you want.

I have 3 fractal weapons that have not been used yet. Can we do something like we did with the axes, picks, and sickles (change from soulbound to account bound)? Basically take them to an NPC and have them change them from a weapon to a skin?

They said solo or group in patch notes. But it cannot be soloed at least u need 2or3 ppl with u to run through the maze. those tree plants are death trap, they do aoe dmg. mobs spawn kind of quick.

LETS FIX the confusion you are causing with your incorrect comment. Here is a quote from the patch notes. I will bold the the areas you misread. Please feel free to post other Anet quotes if these are not the ones you were referring to:

•The Tower of Nightmares is an open-world map designed to challenge even the hardiest of groups. Fighting side by side, players will need to rely on each other to survive.

•Once inside the Tower of Nightmares, players will need to make their way up the tower, scaling three floors of horrifying dangers to reach the heart of the tower—a massive, noxious bloom pulsing with malevolent power. At the apex of the tower, players can enter the chamber protecting the tower’s heart and begin a story instance that can be completed solo or with a group of up to five players.

•The Nightmare Chamber instances are designed for either solo or group play and are comprised of a number of random elements. Each time a player enters a chamber, there is a chance to see something, or someone, different. But is any of it real?

You seem to be cofusing the open world content with the instances. You see it says the instances are solo’able and scale appropriately to the party size. They never said making your way up the tower was solo’able. The tower part mentions groups, however most of the tower itself is solo’able if you bring good consumables, skills, and look for the spots on the walls that can remove the toxin (most people don’t even know about this), which might be why they fail while others don’t. I hope this addresses your’s and others accusations and clears things up.

Also remember that solo DOES NOT mean easy, so some people with bad builds or runes may not be able to solo areas that others can, but that does not mean that it is not solo’able. Some classes are also better than others to solo with. I found getting to the top was the perfect challenge with about 3-5 people. More people actually slowed it down by making events longer.

i5 vs i7, cpu update equals fps increase?

Hey Devs…Im looking to upgrade my computer from a i5-3550 Ivy Bridge LGA1155 CPU to possibly a i5 4670k Haswell 1150 CPU (and new mobo). I believe that my current in-game fps is limited by my CPU, not my GPU. Should this upgrade produce a noticeable difference in the games frame rates?

What if I go for an i7 4770k instead, will the hyperthreading help at all? I read the other thread were we can unlock all cores for a 20fps boost. Will an i7 be any better than its i5 counterpart?

Living Story achievements

The first time the Living Story did this we got a mail that gave us clues as to where to look for things. It was really fun, if a little easy, and I enjoyed hunting them all out myself.

Then the dragon pieces thing came out and it basically required a guide (or else hours and hours of wandering).

Then this came out and I just decided not to bother.

I’d really appreciate it if we could go back to proper clue-based scavenger hunts, rather than random wandering or Alt-Tabbing Dulfy.

I agree and disagree here. The dragon pieces were located at each dragon location (Frostgorge, Sparkfly,…etc). Once you map there you could chat with the community and find waypoints without using any guides. The same goes for the Krait ones. They are all located in Krait heavy map areas and all are in or close to water. However, this achievement did not have the same amount of obliesks in each map which made it harder to get without a guide….and not being able to check them off someway as you get them, makes it harder when you need all 24 instead of: Do 22 of 24 possible or something with some wiggle room.

I am rather sure it won’t be a dungeon to start with.

But no matter, if it is higher than lvl 26 it will most likely apply upscaling.

I hope not, i am getting pretty sick of these dungeons. It’s the opposite of why i started to play mmo, to play with lots of people and not standing around half an hour looking for someone do do a dungeon and then hearing, no necros, no rangers, no ele’s.

Necros rock in dungeons….so do eles. As a necro I add 25 stacks of vunrerability, group blind, and boon removal. Good builds are welcome in most dungeons I’ve gone into. The one exception was Fractals depending on the current group and lvl of Fractals.

How to Kill “hard to kill” Bosses in Open-World/Zerg Content:
1. target Boss
2. position yourself in range and press one
3. Sit back as the braindead zerging and autoattacking will do all the work for you
4. ???
5. two blues and a green

Which remindes me of the Tequatl fight… Gather a whole hour before the Event starts with TS3/vent/whatever organize the groups and just get 4 greens and 1 blue for it -____-

Keep in mind that this may be a dungeon which will then be a 5 person group, so his idea about hard bosses can still be feasible in that case. And the point you all make about world bosses and Teq is not true. You are guarenteed at least 1 yellow each time, and with Teq you are guarenteed 3 yellows (4 chests total)…so a chance at more yellows/exotics, mini pets, and pink chests.

As easy as it is to do world bosses for yellow loot, the Tri-chest should guarentee some yellows, and add the slim chance of exotic, pinks, and of course the 2 minipets that they mentioned in the preview (this will be the real reward from the Tri-chest) in case you all forgot.

You only have to unlock it with one of your toons, to possibly use with the next Living story.
You get free skill points every day once you get the shard Obliesk.
You get 5 skill points for doing one of the living story achievements
You get a chance at skill point scrolls off loot bags from killing any champ ( I have ~400 scrolls sitting in my bank).
You can buy the skill with pristine spores instead.

- Is this an issue for anyone…seriously?~ NO The reason it costs more is because the game has been out for a year and almost everyone has 100 or more unused points laying around. You really cant compare it (point- wise) to other skills that were released when GW2 first came out.
- Are any of my elite skills better than any of my other skills….no….in most cases I wish I could replace my elite skill with one of my other skills.
- Does a new person need this skill?…NO…they cannot enter this instance unless they are lvl 25 or higher. My guess is the next living story will probably be a dugeon type instance into the tower that will be higher lvl content.

Is complaining about every aspect of the game getting old?! YES

My node recharges every day. So far I have gotten 4 skill points from it….so I know it works. I have had it since day 3 of release. It also gives you a lot of exp each time you use it. I only do one toon per day.

Update: I was pretty sure I used the same toon at least twice since I camped them at the Selma WP in Divinity’s Reach, but tonight when I tried again with that toon, the skill point was not usable….so maybe I did do a different toon all 4 times?!

Hey Dulfy is vague on one area: Mount Maelstrom. There are only 2 pictures but 4 spots there I believe. So when you first run through it you get 22 of 24….that was my case. After reading it closer, I realized I missed 2 in that region. One is up by the witch champ, while 2 are below under water in that same area. The forth is off to the far east of the map…Hope this helps some of you.

She has one picture that shows all four locations, describes where all four locations are, and has a picture of each one individually. Are you looking at the correct area in her guide?

She updated that section, after alot of people were missing the Maelstrom ones. I wanted to point this out for those (like me) who used her site as a reference on the first couple of days.

Clarification on toxic spore cleanser achieve

An achievement that actually feels like you achieved something….so people hate it…LOL.

We got alot of people on the main Kessex map on the Maguuma server to get this achievement last night. Basically whenever a champ spawned in Kessex: We called it out and checked for the purple leaf indicating if it was corrupted or not. We would then call out “not buffed” yet so that no one was in a rush to get there and no one attacked it. Once buffed we notified again in map chat at which point everyone “zerged” it down. If someone new came to the area and started attacking, people simply asked them to wait until it became corrupted.

Most champs became corrupted within 1min… one took over 5min, but no one killed it! We worked as a true team and waited it out, slowly taking pot shots at it. At about 75% health he became corrupted and we DPSed him down fast and moved on…Anet would have been proud of our teamwork! There were no commaders present, so all communication was through map and local chat.

Zerging is getting ridiculous

You all are sooo moody and impatient

1.) This is part 1 of the Tower of Nighmare. We will be able to enter the tower later on (probably next Living story update). We have to be able to cleanse the toxin first or we will not survive in the tower…the new heal skill

2.) You DON’T have to be part of the zerg to get any of the achievements. People complained about the forced solo instance and now they complain about large zergs….OMG…don’t join the zerg. With about 3-4 people you can easily do all the achievements. The zerg is just if you want to farm pristine spores. It is an OPTION for people who like that kind of mindless farming game play.

3.) To get some of the other achievements you have to map to several other areas. There are typically no zergs there, so you have to take down the toxic spore in a smaller group (3-4). So it is doable in small groups and does scale properly. For Obliesk areas you can solo or do easily with 2 people. It is guarded by 1 krait vet and 1 normal krait. The Krait champs can typically be taken down in a smaller group (3-5) also.

It is only Zerg Wars if you join the Zerg. Even the Scarlet invasions could be done in small mobs of 4-5 people…as a matter of fact if you really wanted to complete the invasion, this was the faster way. However most people PREFFERED the zerg once they got that achievement so that they could spawn champs and farm them effeciently. Again, this was not a requirement for any achievement, it was just a way to farm as a mob. If you don’t like to play this way DON’T join the Zerg!

All these fights above seemed to go faster in small groups than in zergs, so zergs do not speed up farming. What zergs do in (Kessex, Invasions, and Mad King) is allow the population to time respawns so that you are not waiting 15-20min for the next spawn. If you hit doors/mobs one at a time, everyone gets the drops and you get a steady stream of mobs back-to-back. If smaller groups hit each mob/door at the same time, now the whole map is waiting for the next respawn. At which point everyone waypoints to it and you have just unintentionally formed…a ZERG…gasp!

I only looked throught the first 2 pages, and did not see some of this so forgive me if they have already been posted. The most asked questions I hear is how do you split a stack:

To split a stack of materials or items click on the item and move them to a new location while holding down the CTRL key. You will get a pop up that allows you to select the number of the new stack. It defaults to half the original stack.

Right clicking on an item in your inventory gives you the option to: get a price check on the trading post from anywhere in the world, lets you destroy it, lets you mail it (sometimes), or lets you send it to your bank (sometimes). There are ocassions where you don’t want to send all your materials/minipets to your bank.

Rangers can name each of their active pets, store them, swap them, and put them on offensive, defensive, or passive.

It is still very much alive. I do a dragon world event nightly that attracts over 4 overflows regularly. This event require about ~110 people per server/overflow working together.

The graphics are what drew me to this MMO over others. As you try different races and go from a desert setting in the charr area to the wintery mountains of the norn, you really get drawn into the game. Then you find secret areas like some of the jump puzzles for the first time, and say to your self….man, they really put everything in this game. Go to Lions arch and take a swim and come face to face with a humpback whale and the whole ruined city of LA from Guild Wars 1. It really is impressive.

As far the holiday event being grindy. It depends on what you want from it. I just wanted to max my achievements and get the mini pet. That was not grindy at all. However if you want to go for a specific weapon skin, then yes you will be grinding for it….but that is true of any unique weapon skin in any game. The stats howver, are no different then any other high end exotic, so as promised you don’t have to grind for max level gear.

Yeah I need to delete my bloodstone stacks. I have over 20 stacks = 5000 stones. I barely needed any to get my weaponsmith and artificer to 500. And once at 500 I only needed a few to make the great sword.

I plan to keep about 4 stacks…just in case….unless Anet wants to chime in and tell me to hold those because they will be needed for legendary precursors or ascended consumables?!

Yeah I like how we cannot easily delete or sell stuff like fun-in a box, and finishers, but that same care is not added to exotics, ascended, or legendarys. It asks if your sure, if you accidentally click to salvage them, but not if you click to sell them.

I’m still amazed that warriors have access to torment and confusion yet rangers don’t have any torment (apparently a sword in your chest causes torment but a flock of birds eating your face doesn’t) and thieves have no confusion (wind rider venom, I’m still waiting on you)

Don’t thieves with dual pistols have confusion on skill 4 or is that dazed? Sorry, Im not at home so can’t confirm.

Ahh well thanks for the answers. I am still at work, so no access to in-game content just yet, just the News thread which mentioned Kessex Hill and tower….so I incorrectly assumed the mysterious castle in the south east corner of that map.

Now if they could put a bank in my instance, I could get my quartz faster, mine the ones there, and then commune daily. Add more to our home instance…especially the bank or crafting stations (which has bank access). We don’t know the heal amount and CD of the skill. If the heal is low and the CD is high enough it wouldn’t be that OP.

This should be available to all classes and is listed under rewards, which seems to infer that we have to do this week’s living story achievements in order to “unlock” it. Please people do not put this off to the end of the week and then complain when you didn’t get it unlocked for your toons!

It is absolutely not selfish. A zerg isn’t about community – it’s about optimising farming via an overpowering mass of players to reduce the amount of skill and time required to smite bosses and churn out champ loot. It’s mind-numbingly dull, performance-intensive, and certainly would not be done if not for farming purposes – hence the reason you don’t see zergs where the rewards aren’t good.

Some players get performance problems in zergs. Some players just want to be able to see what the hell they are doing. Some players would like to get a hit on a boss before the zerg decimates it. They are none of them obliged to participate in a zerg to complete map content. I’ve seen far more rude commanders/zerg participants than I have seen people deliberately screwing with a champ train.

You can play how you want and the commander should not yell at you for that. However, he or she should give you the benefit of the doubt and explain the benefit of working as a team and you the player should be open minded to this idea since the Labyrinth was essentially made to be farmed.

By commanding a zerg the whole community gets to benefit from a door, not just 3-4 people at a time. People following 1 commander through the event get the benefit of getting all the doors, getting all the boss chests and loot, and potentially getting more drops due to scale up. They also get the benefits of rezzes if they get downed, and speed buffs from door to door. The doors do not show up back to back. So imagine if 3-4 people each went to a door and opened them at the same time….now they are all sitting there for 10-15min waiting for another door to pop up and rushing to get to that 1 door from all over the map (more upset players). However if a organized zerg goes from door to door 1 at a time, the normal wait for the next door to pop is much less.

Hope this now makes more sense to you, and shows you why this scenario is much different than the one the OP posted about. The zerg was also benefical and brought most of the community together during the Scarlet invasions. By going to the commander lead zergs, the size of the group results in several aether champs to spawn. Smaller groups did not get this benefit. Anet was promoting large scale zerg farming for this instance, the Labyrinth, and during the Queen’s gauntlet.

Just dont push F inside the door. As soon as you open a door roll back or walk away. Either fight the creatures or autoloot. You are far enough away where you wont enter, but close enough to autoloot. Problem solved.

In TTS we specifically look to kill her in the overflows. That way you never have to guest to a specific server. We typically have 2-4 overflows going at a time during prime time (right after server reset). I can no longer count how many times we have killed that dragon.

My necro is very squishy

I find that my necro is least squishy of all the light armor, and even on par or better than my current thief build for survivability.

The necro naturally has more vitality than any class, so I went PVT (power, toughness, vitality) to give him the most damage and best survivability. I use blood is power, and the wells that blind and cause vunerability. My elite is the flesh golem. I do not worry about precision since structures and world bosses cannot be crit damaged. Stacks of conditions only go so far in groups, so I maxed out the power trait and put the rest in toughness and vitality. This makes me the most useful in groups, but still excellent alone.

For weapons I use axe/focus and dagger/warhorn or dagger/dagger. I can gather large mobs and melt them down fast. I cast blood is power then put up the 2 wells around me. The mobs are now blind and have ~20-25stacks of vunerabilty, while I have might. I can now do pure damage and life siphon. If I ever get low on health I enter death shroud and do more damage. Skill 1 penetrates and does crit.

I use rune of the pirate. There are probably better runes, but I got these for free. They apply +10 to all stats, they give me boon duration, they give me speed boost, and they give me condtions duration. I use sharpening stones for more power from my already high vitality and toughness. For food, it varies depending on what I am doing….Hope this helps.

I posted about weapons in the Halloween Living World thread, but will use this thread to reiterate my thought on weapon skins available. Right now the greatsword, hammer, and shield seem to get the most love. The new blue flame effect on the exotic greatsword, bats that fly out, a shield that looks like a cemetarty tome, and purple on the hammer….what I would not give to have that on, oh I don’t know: an axe, pistol, sword, focus, sceptor, or staff with some of those effects?!

How hard would that be to make those weapons stand out more with the particle effects or flames, for the same price on the TP as the new Greatsword or hammer? Can we also get a focus that is more substantial? Like the size of a small shield? I can’t see spending 20-50g on an exotic focus that I can barely see.

And the answer to Atherakhia.4086’s question is: The ranger!! I love the sword warhorn combo on the ranger, but I need to be able to dodge/ heal.

Here is a portion of the new update notes that I was referring to, they mention deselecting:

•Tab targeting now prioritizes players over NPCs (including minions; mesmer clones are an exception) and champions over everything else.
•Deselecting a target will reset the tab-targeting history

Ok so I have been playing since release and use Tab a lot to select closest enemy and to cycle through them. But I could never figure out how to unselect a target. I basically have to run out of range before my target clears.

This is annoying because I like to use jump attack skills to flee or run past enemies but if I am accidentally targetting an enemy, my toon turns around and attacks them. How do I untarget on the fly? I saw the new build mention fast targetting and resetting targets.

I heard that by playing through the Living story “storyline” you unlock a lot of previously hidden nodes, and that as the event gets further along there will be more ways to get these special drops.

What made people think that they’d be able to re-earn a festival skin? It was plainly stated that come content would return but the reward items would be unique each year, just as it was in GW1.

Also, keep in mind that this persists until the 11th, meaning there’s one more major update drop between now and the end.

Ya and a truly hope for that update, that Anet sees their mistake in and adds the old conent by that update for the “limited time” after that patch ,that is left over then, until the holiday is completely over then again at the 11th next month.

TBH, part of what makes halloween and wintersday fun is that there are some things that can only ever be acquired once. Honestly, That’s what I like about the living story as a whole. Not so much the story but the concept of limited time rewards. Sure you’re going to miss things. Everyone is. That is exactly what makes the stuff you do get special. It has the same stats as stuff you can find all over, and certain things do come back each year which is a large boost in content from the first game. At some point the users on the boards just have to get used to the idea that sometimes you just can’t have all the things, and the ability to have all the things just adds to boring and stale characters all around the world rather than having some nice little “time capsules” that function as nice little souvenirs of the events you did attend.

^ Exactly this!!! All the new temporary content is part of a “living world” not a persistant one. That means that if you miss it, you miss it. Not everyone will get everything and such is life. But now characters can look more and more unique as time goes on due to limited items. This aspect of the RPG should make you/your character feel more unique.

I haven’t played GW1 for exactly 1 year now anymore, since GW2 got released, so if that is true, that everybody can get now in GW1 all seasonal holiday head gears from a new npc, that simply shows, that Anet still can understand the principles of good FANSERVICE.

So if they made such changes to GW1 to enable players there to fashionate their characters as they like with all of the seasonal head gears, what the hell stops Anet here then to provide us the same fanservice ???

As far as the OP’s post about GW1 above…. If I recall correctly this is NOT true. There is a hat maker that can make any festive hat that you unlocked on your account. This lets you change out your hats and dispose of them instead of taking up room in your inventory. However, if you did not do the original content to unlock that year’s head gear, you could not go to this vendor and get that hat. Anet has been this way since GW1 and for you to think that they would change that aspect that many people looked forward to with events like this and Wintersday in GW1 is just silly. Each year you had the chance to get 2 new hats but never any of the old ones. I knew people that stopped playing GW1, but still took the time to come back during the holiday events just to get their unique hats for the year. The limited time offer is what brought people back.

Lies… everyone knows Anet doesn’t make grindy games!

I think they said you would not have to grind for armor, weapons, or items that are better stats. If you choose to grind for an item purely because of a unique look, that is now up to you the player.

While I do agree that the above statement was true at release, with the addition of ascended weapons, it no longer holds true. The rings, amulets, and earring come pretty naturally through game play (laurels), guild missions, and fractals, however the backpiece took more grinding in fractals. Now with the release of ascended weapons (with better stats), I found myself having to grind daily at jump puzzles and for materials on multiple toons .

I am glad you can not get last years achievements there should be some reward for being a veteran player.

What exactly is so veteran-ish in doing some achievement i just happen to miss out on the first time?

That kind of is the definition of vetran player. Someone that has been here since the beginning and took part in an event before others started playing.

No historical achievements available – why should they put these? This is a new event
No previous year rewards available – why should they do this? Scarcity is good
No previous year gemstore content available – they still have time to do this
Ridiculous requirements for Hween weapon crafting – I agree, it needs to be fixed
More RNG-reward based weapons. – Not sure why you are surprised by this. People don’t like it but it’s working for Anet. They should keep on doing it to fund this game
Far fewer candy corn nodes (cheap explanation as well) – I agree
No new clocktower rewards/achievements – They don’t need to add to this

Pretty much 100% agree with the above. This is day 1 of Halloween 2013, new events will start over the next 2-3 weeks. New events means new items. Unique items is what keeps a lot of veteran players here, plus if you REALLY want last years items, they are still available on the TP. This part will never change. I also agree about the clocktower…the fun is in acomplishing it. Besides, you get a new armor skin and this year a choice of stats.

Ridiculous amounts required for new crafting. I agree here. I have 1000 candy corn from last year, and it turns out I need 396 more stacks?! WTF? This needs to be fixed especially since Anet offered a trade-in for useless materials at the Bazaar of the Winds. Sneaky, sneaky. How about each node drop a lot more candy corn?…or a rare chance at a candy corn cob?

Who really cares about the RNG weapons/skins. If you want one buy chests, if not dont waste your money. Perhaps you can still wait for them to show up on the TP or get it as a rare drop from the mad king dungeon this year?

MY ONE BIG COMPLAINT…Why can’t they make staffs, sceptor, axes, focus, pistols, daggers, and torches with cool affects they they add to greatswords and hammers. If they added the blue flame affect (from the new greatsword) or the purple affect (from the new hammer) to any other exotic above, I would be all over it. The one or 2 they have now are very expensive compared to greatswords and hammers with similar affects. I would also love a larger, more noticable focus skin. Similar in size to a small shield.
