Unresponsive Jumping @ Dec 3rd Patch

Can confirm this for me and several of my guildmates too. I do the borderlands jump puzzle several times daily and now can’t complete it at all, same symptoms as everyone else is reporting.

Doubtful DJRiful, as Neandramathal said he had 2-factor authentication and a unique password on his gmail. I don’t see hackers getting past google’s security with the text messages to logon, and if they could they’d be going for bank details not GW2 accounts.

The hacker is getting more confident. Here’s a picture of him threatening to hack Penny Larceny next while he was looting Freyn (Neandramathal)’s account at the bank.

I personally didn’t have anything stolen, I’m hoping it is because I have the mobile authentication activated.

That’s interesting – so they were able to change your email/password, thus preventing you from logging in, but not to log in themselves? Otherwise I can’t imagine why they wouldn’t have stolen from you.

That seems like a bug in the mobile authentication – if you have it enabled you shouldn’t be able to change the email associated or password without mobile authentication.

Though as pointed out above it seems they’re able to change the email without even a confirmation to the original email, which also seems like a loophole.

Yeah I’m starting to wonder about that sort of possibility Cyrus.

And no they don’t – certainly my guild mate has never visited it and he was hacked.

It seems there’s no consistent pattern: most had secure/unique passwords, most had uncompromised email accounts, some had the mobile authenticator enabled, only some had visited our community site.

Still not able to figure out how it’s happening and why there’s such a huge spate of it just on our server (at least I’m not seeing posts from other servers complaining about this).

Hyung.6140

So, you were also hacked while using the mobile authenticator? I can’t see how that’s possible unless there’s a loophole somewhere. Did you have your ip on the trusted ip list?

What server were you on likens?

If people are getting hacked with the mobile authenticator enabled then something REALLY dodgy is happening. Even if they’re somehow able to convince support to change the email address to evil@hackers.com then they shouldn’t be able to do anything else without mobile authentication, so how could that have happened?

Maybe the trusted ip is being abused? If you know the ip of the player you could log in pretending to be from their normal network?

Seriously, I can’t believe the number of players hacked on our server in the last few days, it seems like everytime I go on the community forum or into LA someone else has been hacked.

Abandoning Mesmer Class

in Mesmer

Posted by: Hyung.6140

Hyung.6140

So the OP faces now issues every other class has and finds it gamebreaking? What ? I also need to have LOS in wvwvw to hit someone. Why should you be excluded?

We shouldn’t! The zerker behind walls was broken. BUT the LoS should actually work – you shouldn’t be able to stand slightly uphill and within range and prevent me from summoning ANY illusions. This is particularly bad for mesmer as not only do we lack the damage from the illusion attacks, illusions act as a resource which fuels our skills/heals/traits, AND our shatters. So it hurts three times for a broken mechanic like LoS.

So yes, the zerker was wrong, but they’ve gone way too far the other way and made the class fundamentally screwy. Hopefully it’s just their LoS implementation is bugged and then they can fix it and we can all be happy.

Overview of mesmer bugs (?) after patch

Hyung.6140

That’s a great list clipnotdone. We should get it in the stickied topic ASAP. And I’d love a response from ANet on which of these bugs are working as intended and which are bugs. If the LoS illusion-summoning failure is what they intended then it makes a lot of previously viable builds unviable. Hello cookie-cutter dullness and an inability to assist in WvW sieges.

Overview of mesmer bugs (?) after patch

Hyung.6140

All of these are really unacceptable, especially alongside all the outstanding unfixed bugs we’ve had since day 1. I really don’t mind the iZerker LoS nerf/fix, but making all of our summons so flaky means we’re nigh on useless in so many situations. Please respond Anet!

Fix LoS on Mesmer Skills

Hyung.6140

I have to agree with this. The Bezerker nerf was absolutely correct and needed, but now so many skills miss even in situations where I’m sure they shouldn’t.

Can you check this is definitely functioning as intended?

Suggested Mesmer Changes!!

Hyung.6140

GummiBear, I think it seems like bloodmage doesn’t know the difference between clones and phantasms.

bloodmage – Clones are one type of illusion, they do essentially zero damage on their attacks and die in a couple of hits, but are used for shattering. Phantasms do high damage (higher than the mesmer themself, who – for balance reasons – doesn’t do an awful lot of damage on their own hits), take a few more hits but are still easily killable.

It’s impossible for a mesmer to get three high damage phantasms up quickly – in any decent fight by the time their next phantasm is ready the older ones will have been killed.

In short, it’s fairly apparent that you haven’t thought this through, and relating it to attunement swapping makes nearly no sense. You could just as easily say that an engineers kit-swapping should be set to 9s for the same reason, and it would also be a completely ludicrous change.

Hope this helps

This is a massive improvement. I’d still love to see

a) A FoV slider

Agreed, if they could confirm whether or not you can still get the achievement if you can’t be at that time it would set a lot of people’s minds at rest. It’s silly, but having put so much time into the Halloween events I’d love to have the title to show for it at the end!

Surmia vs FoW vs Dzagonur 1 Hour in...

Hyung.6140

Yeah, it’s pretty sad on RoS. Had all the guilds not left before the one week matches even started I think we’d be doing pretty well – we play quite intelligently, but with so few people. The usual state is around 50-100 people across EB and our own borderlands, with zero people in the other two borderlands.

That said, it does lead to occasional fun moments. With four guildmates we took one of the supply camps and sieged up, and probably killed over fifty from Drakkar before they managed to overwhelm us with sheer numbers, but it’s pretty demoralising that eventually that’s always the outcome in WvW: sheer numbers will beat us no matter how skilfully/intelligently we try to play.

Of course we could just leave, but that’s the cowards way out already taken by a few guilds on RoS, and I’d much rather we eventually build our way into being competitive. I don’t see how that counts as a solution to the problem, except selfishly solving it for myself.

Guys, I think we need to pay more positive attention to VakarisJ. It’s pretty apparent that his enjoyment of the game would be utterly ruined if ANet added this slider that he wouldn’t use.

He also wisely pointed out that some people a few hundred years ago apparently used to puke for fun, so anyone who is made to feel ill by the absence of this optional slider should be grateful, not angry.

Not to mention he’s helping us all understand better how zooming out relates to FoV. Imagine your problem is that you’re standing in one spot wearing blinkers on the side of your face (like horses sometimes do). To remove the blinkers, you should walk backwards while still looking in the same direction.

Some pedants may point out that this doesn’t expand the number of things you’re looking at at all, it just keeps the same things in view but further away, whereas removing the blinkers would keep everything at the same distance while adding extra peripheral vision. But you can prove anything with facts so let’s not listen to them!

(VakarisJ, no offence is intended by my sarcastic tone here – I’m just struggling to understand your motivation for opposing an optional feature that will apparently help some people. The fact that your arguments include things like ‘some people like to vomit’ and factual inaccuracies like ‘zooming out = FoV expansion’ makes me really confused as to what you’re trying to achieve. Anyway, I hope you’re having a lovely weekend, and may all your real-life fields of view always be exactly as wide as you’d like!)

Some vistas are ruining the game for me. Am I alone? Please heed my call.

One of my most memorable experiences with the game so far was with a jumping puzzle. On the Breached Wall vista in Diessa Plateau, I was practically banging my head against the wall trying to figure out the proper path and repeatedly falling — it was so frustrating. The thing is, there was this Norn female character right there with me the entire time. We’d make a little progress, fall, rinse and repeat. Sometimes it’d be me who figured out the next step and she (He? Who knows? Not the point, haha.) would follow me up, and sometimes the other way around. We both died fighting one of the veterans along the way and had to start over. Every so often, we’d say something in /say to vent a little frustration to the other total stranger we knew was going through the same thing. After more than a half hour, when we finally made it to the end, a simple /cheer and a mutual “grats” and we were both going our separate ways. Some may have found it insignificant, but to me it’s the kind of rare moment that I’ll probably remember fondly about this game long after I’ve moved on and forgotten the combat, certain encounters, etc. Those are the kind of experiences you only get in an MMO.

Bonzoso! I had the same experience, except I was a Norn female – do you play a charr on Ruins of Surmia? I’m guessing not as afterwards I went to do some more jumping puzzles with my new Breached Wall companion. It was epic, and one of my favourite things ever in all of gaming. I’m really glad someone else had the same experience in the same place
