I think the damage applied from “Mug” should be reduced, and assassin’s signet should be toned down or have its functionality changed which is used as a buff of 150% + next attack. Backstab is fine where it stands. As full glass cannon 30 power 30 critical strikes you would do 10k damage at most on light armor target with base armor with these changes. I say Backstab on its own is fine because it cannot be spammed. It has a 3 second debuff called “Reveal” which prevents you from stealthing again immediately. Even if a thief stealths 4-5 seconds after the first initial backstab attack if his opponent rolls backwards(rolls- even better) the damage is cut in half. If opponent has more than base armor damage decreased even more. What gets me most of the time when I go D/D as a thief is snare(cc). I agree steal+assassins signet(+150% damage on next attack) + plus backstab is a bit too powerful. Fixing mug and the signet would fix the problem.

Yes, I got stuck in tpvp after patch. Also, stomp finishers are randomly landing 1/2 second earlier.

I will try to help the best I can. At the moment classes are using a lot of condition removers(the Meta atm) so even though condition such as bleed are great in a long drawn out battles once removed its like hitting a restart button on your damage. In this scenario survivability is key. You will need lots of CC to keep yourself alive. I suggest freeze on swap weapons for those Close Quarters Combat classes instead of the +X% bleed.

Suggested traits for survivability: Hide in Plain Sight, Empathic Bond, Shared Anquish
Keep 1 stun break and 1 condition remover for utility.

What to do list in X engagement:

Thief
Suggested traits and condition remover help you from getting stun locked. Switch weapons stack bleeds and run(A pet that knockdowns opponent is great). CC thief and repeat(use knockback the second time he uses his gap closer and continue kiting).

Mesmer
When fighting Mesmers you are looking for 3 things:
-Mesmers apply a condition called CONFUSION which deal damage to you everytime you attack. Make sure to remove it.
-Mesmers have phantasms which deal an enormous amount of damage to you. CC the Mesmer and Barrage the area.
-Mesmers have Chaos Storm (DO NOT WORK IN OR STAY IN THIS LARGE PURPLE DOME OF DEATH).

Necromancers
You can’t kill any decent Necromancer with conditions. They counter you directly. They will send all your damage right back at you(they transfer condition from themselves to you). Be careful of their Marks if you step on them prepare for a lot of hurting. Avoid if possible unless you are raw damage.

Elementalist
In this fight you just have to keep your distance. CC weapon swap what ever it takes keep him away from you. If he is going bunker prepare for a very long long battle. If is burst you should win by condition removal and suggested traits after surviving the initial attack.

Guild vs. Guild

I loved this feature in Guild Wars 1. Everything from the flag running, trebuchet control, strategic morale boost to the build up to killing the Guild Lord like a final boss was amazing. Since the revive mechanic has change maybe we can build buffs with morale now instead of debuffs( because death penalties don’t exist anymore). I know they will be working on Guild Halls on a later date. I really hope that in about 3- 6 months we will have some news on its development(which is somewhat a reasonable time for it). Or if this feature won’t be implemented and is mentioned somewhere can someone please tell me now? I really don’t want to get my hopes up too high(I will be a sad Panda if it’s not implemented later). This was the best feature in Guild Wars 1, from my opinion which made Guild Wars, Guild Wars.

I also understand that the Devs would be reluctant to say yes to my question on the forums because with the answer of YES to this topic will do 1 of many things for certain:

-Start of a whine train for the next 6 months or until the feature is released.

My View
I completely understand that I paid for a game and its content that already exists at its present date and any added feature is a bonus to me. That is how I look at it. 250 hours of game-play definitely worth it(I am only level 71 with 50% map completion with no dungeons done, rank 25 glory). With no monthly fee’s I get to leave it and pick it up again with no obligation to get my moneys worth which I would have from a p2p(which is awesome).

Can’t wait for GvG sounds great as an E-Sport.

Tier 1 being the strongest.

Tier 1

Mesmer
Thief
Guardian
Engineer

A good Mesmer vs a equally skilled guardian or thief will trump both.
A good Thief vs a equally skilled guardian means neither will die but the Guardian will hold the point.
A good Engineer can be a great offensive defender. If you dare to be over aggressive against an Engineer you will be punished for it.

Tier 2

Ranger
Elementalist
Necromancer

Tier 3

Warrior

Currently I feel warrior is slightly lacking in its abilities besides the Greatsword and even that isn’t hard to counter with stun breakers. Sword bleed works great as condition damage but only if opponents are not good at kiting.

The thieves build revolves around 1 skill called assassins signet. Once thief shadow-steps to you and goes invisible hit a condition removal if immobilized or better yet block or blind once he’ll miss that signet you get a free kill. As a thief when I see the assassin signet on another thief I just dodge roll towards him and half the time he shadow steps and misses. If I get immobilized I blind(this is enough to stop 90% of the damage that kills you) and shadow-step away.

A full glass cannon thief has 15k health at most, 1050 toughness at most, even less toughness if he goes for a higher health pool(acrobatics). If he goes for a higher health pool he won’t be able to stealth more than 3 secs. He can’t stealth for 3 seconds when he revealed after stealth. He is playing high risk high reward. If at any point in time he is snared he is done for.

Advice:
Snaring forces 1 of 3 things: stun break(shadow-step removes condition and stun breaks, every good thief uses it), heal, stealth which cost initiative (he needs you to hit you for this) or the use of a stealth utility skill with a 60 second cool down. It is very very difficult in my case to land a back-stab while my opponent is moving backwards(dodge to increase distance) and turning in a circle away from the closest angle which my opponent sees me(this should cut the thief’s damage is half as thieves do more damage from behind or the sides). When the Thief reveals himself go from 1-5. He should be around 25% health or dead. Switch weapon set repeat process.

This is meant for whoever is having a hard time against back-stab thieves. I am not ignoring the fact that it does high damage which it does do. It is however easy to counter in tournaments because everyone carries some type off cc. I hope this was helpful and informative.

Stealth finishes

From the classes I have played each profession has their only ways to combo finishes.

Warrior – Stability
Thief – Stealth
Mesmer – Clone, Stealth
Necromancer – Fear/Mark
Guardian – Shield
Ranger – ?? Haven’t Played
Elementalist – ?
? Haven’t Played
Engineer – Haven’t Played but what has stopped me from experience while versing them is KD/ Turrets/Blows me 20 yards away when I am so close to rezing someone lol and immobilize.

Just want to know if this is working as intended. Channeling skills auto lock and stays locked on you until the animation is finished. No amount of stealth or evade cancels the target lock. So is this working as intended?

Is there anyway to customize where and how big I see my conditions appearing? I know they appear right above my skill bar but I want it somewhere else appearing in a larger size. This will also be very helpful in pvp. Also, I know I might me asking too much but choosing a specific boon in the interface to appear larger than the rest of the boons on my enemy for example retaliation would be great for customization.

I was testing damage on golems today and was I criticaling more damage on medium armor than light armor. Skill used was backstab with 100% crit chance in stealth trait.

I think many of these players are surprised at the difficulty of pvp. “This or that class owns me all the time and I can’t do anything and this game sucks” They’re just not used to it, I guess. People are just getting too emotional about losing. Best advice I’d have for people is to take a break, go out with some friends and have a pizza, come back and play the class that owned you. People in game are busy actually playing the game, not raging about losing.

So far I have encountered very positively mannered players in sPvP for the most part.
I came to the forums expecting the same mannered players but it is the exact opposite. People either blaming other people for being “bad players” or removing a mechanic from the game. Rarely do I see players helping other players with sPvP advice. Even when the Devs come into a topic to give players some information/insight to be helpful they get kitten on instead. I really think moderators are too lenient atm. They need to step their game up to timeout or start laying down the hammers to the ***holery. What has your experience on mannerism been like fellow players XD in game pvp and forums?

As some of you may notice I have all my skills placed close to my movement keys mostly so I don’t have to stretch my fingers( I have small hands XD).

I think the source is himself. Although 90% is an hyberbole if you ever join sPvP you can definately find quite a few people in every game doing exactly what he stated certainly from my experience.

Alot of the beginners(Player A) to Guild Wars 2 PvP are thinking of PvP as a deathmatch which it is not. It is a team based game in PvP and PvE. Player A jumps into hot join gets tunnel vision on one target. Player A ignores their surroundings and simply goes for that target through red circles, cc and when Player A finally manages to deplete his/her targets health, with little to no health of their own remaining. They are at the edge of their seat for the “Haha Player A has slain xxx” moment, they realize that the opponent has another bar of health and while they realize this boom!!! in comes a rock hits them in the face and they are in the downed state as well. Player A panics. Quickly!!! Quickly press 1, 11, 111111. Along comes a random teammate of his opponents and heals opponent right infront of them. Opponent gets up and gets the last laugh. Player A proceeds to play Team Matches as death match with similar results. Traumatized from his experience as a new born Sylvari waking up from a nightmare, Player A creates a thread "Get Rid of “Downed” State.

Advice: Play as a team. Good teams don’t need many kills to win matches. Concentrate on controlling points(Defending, reviving, hitting and running if too many). Make sure to look at conditions(red) that are on you and boons(yellow) on your opponents, for example confusion or retaliation(why are you hitting yourself)Get to at least rank 10 before deciding how bad downed state is. Form groups at rank 10 and participate in tournaments.

People need to be willing to help you from a downed state which may not happen in random teams which I can understand may give some people a hardtime. I think down state becomes more of an advantage though as your skill increases.

PvP locker do I need to acquire 2 everything?

When I unlock a certain piece of armor in sPvP I have noticed that once I customize that piece of armor with runes I cannot deposit it into my locker anymore and the collectible is no longer available in my locker as well since I withdrew it. I understand this is probably to stop people from mass salvaging armor for materials but is there a way to acquire the same armor from the vendor without buying dozens of chests and crossing my fingers once you have unlocked it?

I entered sPvP today (as Shadow Typhoon) and came across people farming for points. I asked if they were 1v1ing and they replied that they were farming( glory points). I took a picture told them I would report them and left room. After a while I got a message from one the guys in the pvp room about being reported by the people exploiting the match. I think as long as Anet views my time in match history and chat log I will be fine, or is it ban first and verify innocence later XD? How do I report this PvP exploit?
