Guardians already have a torch that has a skill that sets them on fire and sending out flames,,,,
…holy kitten. never realized that.
Donno if it’s funny or sad.
They did say it was fixed.
It is not fixed. Really, really annoying.
Now go witness the all-important “metacritic” website flourish with good reviews after the 250 HP change thanks to a handful of whiners.
I mean who gives a kitten. A company not standing their ground is more sad than the useless “like & dislike” website.
I am also disappointed that the “I want it now and I’m going to cry until I get it”-fraction wins again…
And now they will feel justified and will keep whining until they get legendaries as login rewards.
100% agree.
Bad decision, just bad. Sad when a company has to listen to a handful of whiners on forums.
The rest of the hero points won’t feel half as accomplished or important, if only for the map completion.
It’s no better than any of the other older content you’ve done a thousand times before. Only faster.
Sorry but I don’t remember standing still and pressing 1 over and over again for hours for the last 3 years.
I don’t know how you play the game, but I actually have fun in it.
“I don’t like how grindy this mastery leveling! I will go and stand in one place hitting 1 for hours in CoF instead!”
What a waste of perfectly good expansion content.
Do you even hold any value to the time you enjoyed during the last 3 years and all the content that free players are not going to get to experience? I mean how kittening absurd is it that people are still upset about this. I don’t get it.
Excellent post, thank you for it.
Colin, and the rest of the teams, you have done an OUTSTANDING job, on behalf of people who enjoy this game for what it actually is, please do not subside to the vocal whiners and change the game according to their flawed philosophy.
PLEASE keep it as you intended it to be!
Do we really need another thread whinging about the whingers? Why not comment in one of the many existing threads if you want to?
Because I believe my opinion warrants the authority to create my own, and I personally wanted to thank Anet for their work.
Two days? TWO DAYS?!
I just wanted to stare at my BEAUTIFUL new utility icons and new trait interface art IMMEDIATELY and skip ALL the other amazing content. THAT IS WAY TOO LONG.
I want to do some sort of a reverse missionary action to all the spoiled people around here claiming that the expansion is nothing but grind. I’m starting to wonder if I’m the crazy one, because it has been exactly the opposite for me.
People got to experience their elite specs on beta weekends, and for some ungodly reason they also thought they get to have it for free when HoT launched.
So far all I see people whine about is the hero point “grind” Am I the only one who thinks you weren’t supposed to clear everything in two days? Not two months, not even two weeks… TWO DAYS. This isn’t one living world story episode. It’s a kittening expansion pack.
The word “grind” got so oversaturated and grossed out in its interpretation that the very meaning of the word turned in on itself. Nowadays people throw the term around on pretty much anything they don’t like in the game.
Oh, I have to kill x amount of mobs? GRIND!
I have to do an y amount of objectives? GRIND!
Talk to z amount of NPC’s? GRIND!
The term got completely obliterated in its true sense of the word when applied to a negative aspect of an MMO game. By all means though, go play another game, tell me if that’s less “grindy”.
Obviously there will be marketing manouvers and stunts that must be done in order to keep the company well funded, but people don’t seem to realize where there’s profit there’s greed, you cannot have a monetary system without greed and often times exploitation. In my eyes this game has the minimal effect on it and always got us something in return, but people claiming they’re a greedy exploitative corporation because they have to grind hero points? ridiculous. xD
I just wanted to do a shoutout to the AMAZING development team, as a decade old MMO player I did not think another MMO would ever come that could impress me as much as GW2 did, and the expansion only made it twice as good. Good job guys, I effing love everything you did, all from community communication, to super friendly and whacky streams, making me feel like the community itself is participating in some way in a truly heart warming way.
I truly hope you guys are not discouraged from all the whining (specifically on the forums, as a minority that it is), the game is not perfect and that’s okay, the sheer amount of effort you guys put in to it and do your best to balance things out is amazing, paving the way for an amazing community, but also spoiling a lot of other people who take the amazing work for granted, so much so that they forget what the game is truly about.
Keep up the good work Anet, and no I’m not going to appologize for the sentimentality!

8 / 10.
Would be 9 if Elite wasn’t grindy.
Sums it up for me. People seem all over the place with their ratings tho.
If only people had some sense of exploration left other than the follow-commander-press-1-mass-loot mentality everyone’s been exposed to for the last 2 years, the criticism would look way different I think.
gl getting hp solo
I don’t hope to, it’s not meant to be solo’d.

You have zero idea what grinding is.
Choosing between two core specs along with berserker is illuminating problems with core warrior. And the restrictions on entering berserk mode are flat out punishing by rubbing those problems in your face.
Could not have said it better myself.
Magnet is STILL UNRELIABLE. I repeat Magnet is STILL NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY.
Not yelling, just highlighting =D
Please I’m sick of swinging my prybar in air…
It’s like people don’t even look at the news and announcements before whining uncontrollably.
I think you need to re-evaluate how a public discussion works
Stating your opinion as fact and demanding changes based on your tastes is extremely arrogant and creates nothing but toxicity, I don’t agree with most of the legendary looks either, but I acknowledge that they are popular for a reason.
hope they fix such trivial things at last, we have way greater problems than confetti grenades.
No, “trivial” things are as important as balance. There are priorities, but all of them are important.
Personally I don’t see them re-doing previous personal stories, but I’d pay if only for combat grunts and dialogue, and future content with a voice of choice.
…Voice of choice… heh, I like that.
Do people even know what “grinding” means? Gosh people got so kittening spoiled with this game…
If they provide you with MULTIPLE ways to gain MEANINGFUL progress, IT IS NOT GRINDING.
The kitten do you want, for them to change how the game works every week? OF COURSE there will be repetition, repetition is INEVITABLE
Seriously, from the old WoW days killing mobs in a certain area over and over and over again for mats, was considered grinding, today? Apparently everything you do is grinding. Jesus
Aye I didn’t take into consideration Expert Examination and all that, good point. I did want to use battering ram for a while now anyway.
And holy crap, 7 seconds of protection… How did I miss this
Surprise Shot has no cast time, and with its lower cooldown you can dish out the same amount of DPS.
You can also combine the rifle turret for an extra interrupt / blast finisher (which also triggers a static discharge, meaning rifle turret gives you two of them).
By far the instant cast time, you can cast it while channeling other spells. It is very significant.
There’s like 5 other topics on this, but you know what? I don’t care, it was probably the most exciting new feature of the expansion for me: DIFFICULTY.
(and for a lot of other people it seems)
I get Anet catering to casual players in the base game, but this is an expansion designed and marketed towards veterans. It should be tough as nails. It’s a level 80 zone in an expansion, casuals or newbies won’t be playing this.
I 100% agree, except, they -will- be playing it, but they have the entirety of the core game to get their feet wet, simply put.
If a newbie wants to get into the jungle immediately, they might get punished for it, which is how it should be imo.
I mean come on, it’s an EXPANSION for crying out loud. Nerf it a couple of months down the line but keep it hard and enticing initially, at least!
Eugh… as insignificant as that may seem, that looks utterly gross lol.
Extremely dissapointing and boring, I agree.
I’ll allow myself to steal OP’s topic a bit and ask for help between a dilemma
Radeon 390 or GTX 970? Future compatibility is what I’m after, and seeing as both more memory on the 390 and Dx12 compatibility is present on the 390 I’m inclined to go with it, it’s just that AMD always seemed like they’re playing catch-up at the cost of higher temperatures and voltages, and clunky drivers, due to clocking the cards constantly…
I donno, I see the 970 as sort of a more stable product than the 390, but sounds like the 970 doesn’t really promise much for future gen games…
Edit: The dilemma between these two cards in particular is due to the apparent best performance for the buck currently on the market.
Thanks anet for taking my advice on “Raid” concept despite many people objected my idea. and thanks anet for incorporating wvw into guild missions despite so many people objected my idea.
Holy christ please get over yourself
I completely agree, there have been suggestions about adding cool effects to the kits according to the legendary, but it would be as easy and lazy as putting the weapon-held glows that come with it while holding the kits, at the VERY LEAST.
(and footprints)
God kitten, that’s a budget.
If you’ve never built your own rig before, then it’s time for research.
pro’s of building your own rig:
-Future upgrade knowledge
-Best deals for the buck
-Satisfying and personal
con’s:
-You may kitten up if you’re not meticulous with your research (but honestly it’s not rocket science)
-Research…
-Takes longer
If you’re intimidated by the vast amounts of information people threw at you in this thread, just take it easy and start googling one thing at a time, if you’re REALLY not interested in what goes where what does what, just buy a complete rig like previously mentioned and be done with it, with that kind of budget you can just snap your fingers and have one delivered to you on the backs of underground gnomes, body guards, personal supervision technicians, the queen’s bottom and the president of the united states personally congratulating you.
…yeah I’m poor
Good idea for the next april fools, afterwhich they can turn it into a gemstore item.
1000 gems seems reasonable to me. I’d buy it any day… if only for the grunts.
I enjoyed this.
What do you prefer, GS/Axe-Shield or GS/Hammer? And how come you don’t use rampage, extra adrenaline generation?
Why does GW have to be so tiring/boring.
Why do you play this game?
Playing a video game for eight hours every day is pretty sad
I play video games 10 hours a day and have no responsibilities or much face-to-face interaction at all. Come, let me feel your full judicious prowess, for your superior lifestyle choices no doubt triumphs anyone else’s.
Whether someone spends their entire day on a game or have time for only two hours, those two hours, for them, is just as valuable as another person’s 8 hours. I think this business model works perfectly for all preferences and varieties of people.
Atleast they look more like a cat than charr ever did
The beautiful thing about spell casting classes and abilities is that you don’t need a direct relationship between the weapon type and the spell casted. Look at elementalist dagger for example, you don’t see them swing it, but summon spells according to weapon type. They could switch dagger spells with scepter spells and a new player would not know the difference, whereas a thief needs animations and abilities that compliment the weapon type, as an example.
Necros use a mix of swinging and spell casting, there is no limit to what you can give them in a mix of actual weapon use and spells associated with them.
TLDR Adding physical-based weapons is easy, but adding spell weapons is just as easy in the sense that you don’t need a direct conjunction of the weapon type with animations and/or function that go with it.
Some spell casting weapon ideas: Tomes, Scrolls, Wands, Armlets.
Not to mention the versatility of using physical based weapons as spell casting ones already, given that there are SO many options: Crossbows (both two handed and hand held), Greataxes (as mentioned), Fist Weapons, Halberds, Short Swords and so on.
The gemstore is going to be barren.
Hope we get a lot of new interesting armor sets.
Fixed.
Season 10 of X Files confirmed
oh wait
Maybe players can record their own warhorn sounds or any sounds in particular and give them out for free for Anet to use!
It’s funny how barely an hour into the article and people start whining already, we can’t really say anything until friday, or even the next beta.
…except the name part. Scrapper really does sounds like kitten.
The game has issues. Big surprise. Mainly the stat balance between zerker and the poor neglected healing power. When did people start to think that original, refreshing ideas warranted superiority and perfection? On the contrary, but I do believe they delivered on a grand scale, it’s just about tuning and fixing… which… I guess will happen….. sometimes.
Also with the new elite specs, the focus on support could very well be that push in fixing (NOT DEDICATED HEALING) but actual supporting, which the game was intended to have from the start. Anet NEVER intended for dedicated healers and never will.

i believe we are gonna have a huge talk on engi once the elite is out for testing.
Feedback is gonna get collected and used to adjust both the class and the spec.
At least, i really hope so.
I hope so too man, I hope so too.
You should mention the Silverwastes, to my experience it is by far the best source of income atm. 15g / hour on avarage, depends on your luck.
(unless I missed it)
