Even though, there are more reveal skills available to other classes, the old shadow’s embrace and shadow rejuvenation is still way better than what you are proposing. With your new traits, thieves will become completely useless

i dodge through their traps they have gs and marks, i dont dodge through their traps gg, i go ranged (seems to be the only way to beat them)

As a thief using melee weapons its really hard to kill the guard when those traps kinda insta kill you …..

If you are lucky enough, you can activate Thieves’ guild then reset to cool down with steal (traited with improvisation) and then summon more for a max of 6 thieves at a time! This is truely a thieves’ guild!!!! We are even better than mesmers

condi isnt meant to work as well in pve than pvp. If you buff torment, condi mesmers will be way over the top, they already can spam alot of confusion preventing you from using any of your skills.

Were the people underleveled? Were the people new players? When did you see this happening? So many variables but all you said is I watched a thief solo kill three people, I can type on youtube CLASS X OUTNUMBERED FIGHTS and I will see every other class soloing multiple people, but the thing is that doesn’t mean CLASS X is op because that video could be years old and the person could be fighting a bunch of underleveled or new players

2 days ago, none of them had a upscale arrow, one of them had a twilight. Warrior, enge, and a ranger. Please don’t say they are bad roamers, because they are not.

That makes absolutely no sense, a ranger these days use taunt and their rapid fire does so much dmg. A engineer has aoe and can apply alot of conditions, a warrior is tanky and can also deal alot of dmg. If a thief manages to kill all three of them, then they really weren’t do anything at all.

Currently, Engineers counter thieves very hard. Their stealth gyro allows them to stealth way more often and they can give you reveal making shadow refuge useless. I fought this zerk engineer today and he healed way faster than I could do dmg and his hammer dealt so much dmg that I could do nothing but run. He also has a bunch of reflects and blocks so your projectiles are just useless unless you want to kill yourself with all those reflects

LOL…. It’s so easy to interrupt people with the mantra and shatter (I trait my shatters so they rip boons away which includes STAB and then you get interrupted ). I think that the duration needs to be toned down

that seems like a learn to play issue, p/p thieves has less access to stealth if you play d/p spam stealth and then kill them easy.

I question the competence of the players you fought. Don’t get me wrong I love the dmg on p/p with pure zerk, but it’s really just insta death if you don’t kill the other person fast enough, so it’s not very viable

Currently I feel that, people are getting more tools to apply stealth and they get more tools to remove stealth, while thieves get an extra dodge like wtf? An extra dodge does not help you at all, this is because suppose you and your opponent both use your dodges the moment they are available, then you will only get to use an extra dodge compared to them because after the endurance bar is empty you have to wait for the endurance to recharge having an extra endurance bar doesnt help. In a game where dodging is very important you are very likely to be using that dodge the moment they are available. Furthermore other classes are simply getting way too many dmg reduction, as a thief I fought this ZERK… yeah ZERK necro using all wells and marks and he did way more dmg (1 mark did 3k….) I could do to him and he was aoe too! He had aoe blinds, aoe stability etc and he gained ds super fast, he also applies alot of weakness. With all this dmg reduction around I do so little dmg. Thieves don’t feel like thieves anymore it’s like they wield wet noodles while other classes do more dmg and have very good sustain (they don’t need stealth for sustain so they can capture points and stuff).

To summarize: thieves are losing stealth to reveals, theives are doing less dmg, theives have less sustain, and thieves cant capture points because no sustain, thieves still have pretty good mobility but thats about it

They can trait to have perma swiftness, trait allows them to have 50% energy regen rate, they can do more dmg than thieves and they are aoe too! I thought thieves were supposed be the burst class and have lots of mobility……

Now Engineers are going to get more stealth too with their new gyro O.o

It’s nothing new really, every time we get something remotely good the other classes that always play the same builds and never played ele go complaining on the forum and make sure Anet destroys us in the next balance patch.

We now have 2 pretty much useless traits in the Fire line and nerfed dodge on a class that can’t even use a berserker amulet without being 1-shot. And yes, guardian burning was way way worse, the have better defenses, quickness, heavy armor, can use marauder without being squishy. There is just no logic I’m afraid behind that balancing beside Anet trying to please their fan base in the pvp forum section.

The worse consequence of this terrible balancing is that it will force elementalists even more into bunker and celestial.

Thief was destroyed with all those nerfs so Ele players should stop complaining and get over it.

New Steal Ability for Thieves

Since we got the almost non-existent end of the straw in Heart of Thorns I propose a new trait which will add this to the steal ability for thieves (this trait will be part of the daredevil specialization:

This trait will be called TAKE IT ALL:
Take all your target’s gear, skins, transmutation charges, gold, gems, account upgrades such as character slots, achievement points, titles, bank inventory, guild inventory, whatever they are selling or have bought in black lion trading post, boons, health, skills, etc. This will work on all players and npcs regardless if they are on your side.

Total Thief Rebalance

These changes to the thief looks nice, but it’s simply waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too balanced. Like seriously, some classes’ traits and abilities are way better compared to the changes you are proposing, you removed improvisation (one of the really good traits, you then changed Shadow’s Embrace so it no longer removes as many conditions, you also nerfed Shadow Rejuvination so that it’s no longer heals per second. These traits are kitten compared to what other classes have. So I propose this:

Steal: Take everything your opponent has: gold, gear, account password and username, credit card number, etc.

New deadly art trait: APPLY All condition * 50 stacks to them when you hit an enemy
New acrobatics trait : Infinite Endurance, 100% speed increase, infinite intiative
New Shadow Arts Trait: increase all stealth time by 100 seconds, you can no longer be revealed EVER!
New Critical Strikes Trait: Increase all dmg dealt by 1000%
New Trickery trait : dodging summon 100 shadow clones of your self and they will constantly spam heartseeker and unload. They all pulse 1200 range aoe taunt every second
New Daredevil trait: Become the devil, insta kill all enemies within a 500000000000 range.

Now we nerf all other classes so that they do 1 dmg, have 1hp, and all their skills have 1 week cool down. Now this should be balanced

Thief vs Necros?

Thief was supposed to be this burst class but low survivability. However against these condi necros they are extremely tanky and they can burst you down with heavy amounts of conditions (if you dont run sa, if you do run sa fighting condi necros is still a pain in the kitten long fight). What I propose is: Increase thief dmg so that we can actuallly be considered the “burst” class because right now condi necros just tank all that dmg and then tank more dmg in death shroud

I agree condi dmg needs to require 3 stats as well, precision, condi dmg, and possibly (condi duration? condi criticals?) Of course I understand that this would nerf condi hard so condi dmg should be the main stat, but the other stats can be a bit more minor.

Thief’s mechanic relies on stealth. Go play a thief and fight someone without going into stealth even once (and no don’t go fight a new player who don’t know what they are doing). I can tell you that you wont be able to win a single fight because without stealth you barely remove any conditions (enjoy dying to every condi build), thieves are squishy we use stealth so that we can prevent some dmg and heal without it we just die fast to burst (enjoy dying to every burst build). So without stealth thieves dies to everything what is balanced about this?

I’ve been seeing a lot of negative posts and rants on this particular part of the forums. As a PVP thief myself, I have seen the thief class shine from the early beginnings to the current decline.
So lets get positive and support each other in this time of need to keep our interest in the GW2.

My story:
Long story short, PVPing against a guardian. Steal -> C&D, 1, 2, 4, 1, 1, 1 = Blocked! Blocked! Blocked! Blocked! Blocked! Get hit once and take 1/3 of my HP. Well this is useless. Why play a class that is suppose to do a ton of damage when I can’t even do get a hit in?

Guards are supposed to counter thieves but I understand we have no dmg mitigation, every time I fight against a guard I would be the one attacking and all they need to do is put down that great sword 4 mark and I end up taking more dmg that he does.

Inherent Thief Advantages: Where are they?

I’m just really tired of every patch thieves getting nerfed and never once anything good comes to thieves. I dont play trapper thief, but let’s just nerf it, nerf stealth duration, nerf thief dmg, nerf thief survivability, nerf thief’s stealth condi clear, nerf the rest of thieves barely there condi clear (like seriously all of the traits for removing condi clear only removes specific condi… I don’t think there are any traits besides Shadow’s embrace that saids remove torment or confusion O.O), make reveal longer for thieves, if you attack a thief and hit him in stealth they get instantly revealed for 30 seconds. But now we have to change the class description in character creation, this is the new description: “Waste of character space”.

but the thing is, you are not going to spam auto attack, and you are not going to be constantly attacked. you have alot of attacks especially that drake’s breath that is just crazy right now. So your opponent would back off of you giving you time to use your auto and heal. You also have waterform adding all these together you have a really high sustain

IKR………. I fought this ranger that took every possible condi removing trait and utility and sigils and rune etc. He said he will beat me easy, but he lost every time :P. Fighting that ranger took a long time due to condi removal, but his skills has cooldown but my condition applying skills has such low cool down that soon enough I apply too much condition for him to remove.

I have played this game since launch and I know that condi mesmers dont work too well in pves or massive zergs, but it’s just rediculous in 1v1 or small group fights. As a pu condi mesmer I have not yet lost to anybody, simply because no matter how much condi you remove (believe me I fought classes that were built to have a kitten ton of removal) but in the end they still lose (fighting them takes a long time but they have to focus all their attention in removing the conditions I apply, so they have no time to focus on dealing damage to me, even if they manage to deal some damage, my ether feast heals over half of my hp anyways, so they basically deal no dmg to me. Also I’m constantly kiting with staff 2 etc, if you try to catch me [I can apply alot of torment], if you try to attack [I apply alot of confusion]. Therefore I’m constantly punishing players for attacking or even moving…. How in the world can that be fair???? I stacked up to 15 stacks of confusion at one time that the enemy deals around 1.5k dmg to himself per melee attack………. Oh you want to heal yourself? NOPE! I run doom on each weapon set, good luck healing…. Pu mesmer can spam stealth, and punishes players for doing anything. In a 1v1 situation, I can never lose.). I run ether feast, disenchanter, null field all which removes conditions applied to me (Just try fighting me with condi build you will understand how every condition that you apply to me gets removed almost instantly) and strip enemy boons, they have absolutely no chance at winning against me using a condition mesmer

PS. TO ANYONE OF YOU CLAIMING THAT PU CONDI MESMERS ARE NOT OP ETC. FIGHT ME!!! I will beat everyone of you. PU condi is so faceroll i wont even have to try.

Are Mantras Bugged?

Recently I realized that after you cast a mantra, the cool down for the mantra immediately counts down even if you don’t finish using the mantra charges.

For example, If I were to cast Mantra of Recovery (10 second CD), I will get Power Return (2 charges of it without traits). However, the cooldown for Mantra of Recovery immediately starts counting down even if I don’t finish using the charges.

I don’t remember this being the case before, what’s the point of a CD if it counts down before you finish using the skill? With the new changes to Prismatic Understanding trait (double stealth time), there is no way anybody can beat mantra pu builds, because the long stealth is enough to cast the mantra and let the CD finish.

I fought a poorly played shout/celestial bow/gs warrior the other day with shatter, I won then he starts complaining about me spamming mind wrack and how I can spam clones (note that I use deceptive evasion which creates clones that does 20 dmg per hit -__-). When I asked about how he can heal 2k+ every 20 seconds he tells me his skills are balanced.

Hey guys, I have been fighting lots of celestial eles lately, any tips on how to beat one using sigil of generosity? I was fighting one using necro, but if i corrupt his boons, he either transfer the condi to me or the condi gets removed so quickly it that it doesnt do much. I tried using power necro, but his boons are insane, can’t do any dmg. I feel that it’s extremely hard to kill them due to their sustain, they keep healing back to full, and eventually you get worn out.

This is the same for cleric rangers, they don’t die at all, their regen + toughness + healing = invincibility in 1v1 or small group fights.

NOOOOOOOOOO, do you even realize how this will ruin the game even more? Let me explain, if I’m using a condi build, I tend to have lots of toughness with stats like dire, celestial, rabid etc. If it reduces condi dmg, then everyone would just build condi because you can tank everything and do dmg. Games would be boring as kitten cause no one ever dies. Right now celestial users (meta) already take forever to kill, no more buffs pls.

Except it doesn’t work that way. Current PvE dungeon meta is stack & smack.

Well they are working on it, look at the spider queen in Ascalonion catacombs. It now literally punishes stacking.

No it doesn’t…. everytime we fight the spider queen we stack, as a mesmer I would use time warp and null field, while somebody else would use their aoe condi clears/projectile reflection and somebody else (e.g. eles) would stack might with their combos. If you can’t stack your dungeon group is bad

Cant get Shatter to work in SPvP.

Shatter works it takes lots more skill than other builds and other professions’ builds. If you want to fight condi builds with it Good Luck! (you probably will never win) Shatter is only good if you catch your opponent off guard otherwise it’s really hard to win with it.

It is? Where did you find this information? My personal experience suggest that a much larger portion use rabid. I do not claim to know what every one uses though, I am just basing this off my experience and those I talk to in game. I have trouble taking anyone seriously, who claims they can know that 3+ million players across 56 servers, without any evidence.

Yes i concluded that condi’s op, the condi ele was built for condi, i used berserker and was built for dmg, I had 3 stacks of might the entire time and only managed to win with 1k hp left, this shows that condi builds can negate most of the direct dmg. If the ele actually applied condi to me i would have died much faster. Also don’t tell me to use condi removal, when i actually fought that condi ele (not just spamming auto attacks, a real fight) I used ether renewal never once was i interrupted while using it, so i enjoyed the full effect of ether renewal, which removed 8 conditions, plus the conditions i removed while in water form. It wasn’t nearly enough, condi was quickly spammed on me as quickly it was removed.

Actually, all this shows it that using a skill that has an extremely low power coefficient and no condition to scale with as your baseline for a test is both unreasonable and unsound.

First of all, unless you are in spvp people don’t use rabid, they use dire. condition dmg, vitality, toughness <———— see these 3 stats? This combination is extremely strong. Also using water attack proves that condi build could do the same dmg as a berserker with 3 might stacks. The toughness they have negates most of the direct dmg, especially since condi only need 1 stack to work, you can stack toughness and vitality, of course you can add other stats that rabid in it as well, which also gives toughness. My experiment shows how condi builds negate dmg and with the crit dmg nerf, berserker builds are becoming less viable.
