I’ve seen a lot of people using, recommending Cleric gear(power/toughness/healing power), but was wondering if Shaman gear(vitality/healing power/condition dmg) is a viable/better set? What do you guys think? Im getting my exotics, so still in dilemma which i should get. Discuss both for PvE and PvP.

Theres another, drop Healing Turret and immediately detonate it, will create the AOE Heal combo. Or drop Healing Turret, everytime it “Fires”(you see a mist and white ring) use a finisher, cos it creates a brief water field when it “Fires”.
In any case, how good is this Water Field AOE Heal combo? I feel like it heals extremely too little >.>
Is it affected by our own healing power or the recipient healing power? Whats the scaling with healing power?

Anet is just being lazy. Its more troublesome going through all the dungeons pin pointing out the exploits and fix them and test run, its easier to just implement a population wide DR.

Yes this definitely needs some attention, its unfair to Support Players especially, right now there is only 1 role, 1 class, 1 purpose, 1 path: Ranged DPS

Good idea, but i rather Anet focuses on fixing the major bugs first. Then maybe we can think about doing a revamp on turret designs cos i think they look hideous. And maybe expansions can implement race specific turret designs.
Me and another friend are getting bugged rewards, only 2 of us, the other 3 are getting them correctly. I suspect DR bug is account specific cos its always the same people affected.
I hope Anet has a compensation plan for this big fcuk up. Cos they owe us tons of gold, exp and tokens which converts into kittenloads of $$$$$.
Everyone has the right to complain. For me this is not the issue of nerfing rewards, im all over that. This is the issue of the unfairness of the bugged DR. 5 of us do dungeons, its always the case where 2 of them got 60 tokens, 3rd guy gets 45, me and my friend gets 30 tokens. We run together always, never with others. Hell i got 45 tokens on my first every run on my account. So basically the DR is bugged to specific accounts, cos its always the same 2 guys, me and my friend getting punished.
How would you like it if i can get full legendary set(for example) in 1 week while u have to spend 3 months for it? Unfair right? For the same goal, you have to work 12x harder. You masochist? DR is bugged still, punishing ppl wrongly. Anet is a sadist…

Is the DR system working right? I did AC em getting 45 tears, then i do CM em and got 30 tokens. Wheres this 60 tokens im suppose to get? 2 of my friends got 60 tokens and we run together all the time, so its not a situation where im getting DR because i did a ninja run behind my friend’s back.
Also i know theres a DR system, but pls explain how the hell it exactly works. If i run different dungeons back to back, i wont be penalized right? But im still getting stupid 30-45 tokens? And sometimes 2 tokens. Running dungeons but on different paths wont warrant DR right? But im still getting 15 tokens. Dont even get me started on the gold reward.
Am i account bugged? Is Anet doing this on purpose? Do you guys hate me and penalize my rewards cos im asian? Because i thought the patch notes already mentioned fixing the bug.

True tank is not needed. But it is more of needing a survivor, to ensure no wipe and revive downed players(kitten happens). My usual party usually has at least 1 heavy armor(half the time is me, since im guardian) specced full survivability as backup and as a frontline aggro initiator, meaning to say he always the one to draw aggro at the start so that our dps can burst the mobs down before they are targetted.
In any case, i was really looking forward to a high survivability build but unfortunately its close to impossible for engineer. Engineer does feel lackluster imo, i was really looking forward to turret builds but they are not viable so to speak…
This is a really a game breaking bug then, i assume this is account specific bug? Any ideas whether this will affect DEs, Quests rewards too? I cant believe i’ve been cheated off all my effort and time.
Any Anet representative able to shed light on this issue? and will there be any compensation for those who are getting penalized continuously?

Thank you William. I hope the fight will be much more interesting and complex… I really feel like the whole fight needs to be redone. Please don’t let it be another “kill mobs, fire cannons” encounter… While those fights were great for the dragons before Zhaitan. We want to fight zhaitan himself. Not his minions. We spent the entire leveling process doing that.
Im always afraid when Anet promises a fix. Cos this will happen:
Anet Forum Manager: Dude complains about the fight being too boring, he said… too easy, he said…
Anet Dev: I’ll give Zhaitan a 99999dmg AOE, lets see them having fun with that!!!
When dealing with Anet, sometimes some things are better left untold…

Anyways I completed CM Explore but i receive 12k exp and 2silver while my friend of the same level receive 24k exp and 12silver.
I start to ask my friends about previous dungeons we did together and all their rewards, found out im getting the shortest end of the stick among my party mates. I thought that maybe my account was bugged, but my friend suggested maybe the rewards are based on DPS, since im the only support, having the lowest DPS score hence worst rewards.
So is this a Account specific bug or Dungeon bug or intended Dungeon rewards system?
I have nothing against pro players, but sadly majority of the pro players are trolling jerks, this is a fact.
Ask in a thread if this game is all about kiting in dungeons and if there are any other method, the elitist trolls start flooding the thread calling you noob, and to stop whining and didn’t event give any advice except “l2p”.
I mean Bro, im just asking for alternative tactics, why so trollish? Is it so hard to at least NOT reply to the thread?

This is the root of all problems, first time i’m seeing a product/service where its all about what the game dev/designers want. We are customers aren’t we?
I think a give and take relationship between devs and players is good, but this has increasingly becoming a one sided affair. We are playing a game designed by the Anet devs FOR the Anet devs.
Its bugged as hell, we spend 45mins trying all possible remedies, the dungeon entrance itself has turned into a Dungeon Boss.

I like the idea of turning staff into symbol spammer. Im using Valor/Honor Traits, so it will be perfect for such a staff setup. Alas, i dont think Anet will make such a huge change…
I think the problem is that people expect you to tank.
Yes, i find this annoying because you literally cant tank in this game especially in explorer. I might be able to tank the first few seconds, but once i exhausted my 2nd weapon skills, my virtues, skills, i have to start kiting and immobilizing till my CD is up. Kiting saves party, just that Guards do it better i assume? Cos every other class ain’t willing to kite, and fingers are always pointed at me.
Initially i planned on going support, boon Guard, but im always needed at frontline =(

I guess i’ve never played with the elites. Mostly i go with pugs and sometimes with my friends, so basically all the tactics are based on youtube videos and wiki, where its all kiting tactics, because they can cater to most class combinations as long as theres 1 guard to kite.
Pls do share any other methods or tactics that you come across so that i may try them out. Cos honestly, i don’t think kiting is the most effective tactic…
It doesnt annoy me that much, until some people i partied with commented about the “Retreat” shouting… Now i wish they will change it too, but i rather them fix other urgent/burning issues with the game… This can always wait…
Just a though, since the skill is equal to a “Rally” skill, they can use a shout phrase something like “To me my Brothers!!!”, its from Warhammer 40k DoW, that game has one of the most awesome shouts/voicing. Maybe change it to “To me my Warriors!!!”

I really wish invulnerability in RF is actually invulnerability… Essentially EP’s invulnerability is same as RF’s because most of the time you will have conditions on you before activating RF/EP.
Im 50/50 with OP though, RF does look weaker, but its strength is the virtues itself, that is its only purpose imo. Nevertheless, i would like to see a buff to RF, maybe making it a cast instead of immobilize channel or increasing duration because i also use RF as a replacement for “block”.
If you want to play Defensive…. [I just woke up, so I’m going to be a tad short here.]
Sword + Focus. [When you swap to this weapon, regain 50% endurance.]
Greatsword. [When you kill an enemy, regenerate all Endurance.]
10% Damage reduction Sigil.
Save yourself.
Smite Condition.
Shelter or Signet of Resolve depending on the boss.
Enough points into the heal tree to gain ‘heal when rolling.’
Enough points to get 50% Aegis trigger.
Enough points to get purging a condition every 10 seconds.
Enough points to get ‘when you activate Virtue of Justice, nearby enemies are blinded.’
Enough points to get ‘when you kill an enemy, Virtue of Justice is refreshed.’Start of fight use your greatsword to increase damage on the boss. Use rolls, etc. Minor adds will keep your endurance full as they die and each roll will heal you. Every time you kill an enemy, use Virtue of Justice to reblind everything. Your own blind should be on cool down at all times. Don’t forget to use your pull to interrupt attacks. When endurance gets low and there aren’t any adds to kill to refresh your endurance, switch to your sword. The refreshed endurance + Blind x2 + Three hit block from your #5 will prevent at least six hits of damage. Do everything in your power to keep above 50%, so you can continue to refresh Aegis for free.
So all in all…
Aegis – blocks an attack. Refreshes at 50% Hp, or every 40 seconds. 90 second cd if used, not really worth it to burn the cool down.
Virtue of Justice – Blind every 30 seconds [or when enemy is killed.]
Leap of Faith – Blind every 20 seconds.
Flashing Blade – Blind every 10 seconds.
Ray of Judgement – Blind every 20 seconds.
Shield of Wrath – 3 blocks every 45 seconds.
Shelter – 2 second block + Heal every 30 seconds. [If picked.]
Constant supply of endurance to continue to roll when there are adds to kill.
10% Less damage from every attack.The level of pure avoidance you have is insane as a Guardian. You can if you want, spec into Runes of Water to gain another blind every 10 seconds.
I went for this build, utilizing blind, but im finding difficulty in dungeons. Most bosses have passive buff which reduces effectiveness of blind to 10% as well as others that reduces effectiveness of Conditions. Its only useful for clearing trash mobs imo. When taking on bosses, my only friends are block and protection.
GW2 got rid of the Holy Trinity, which i am fine with as i have enjoyed MMOs with similar system, like Cabal Online and Blade&Soul(those who have played the beta will know what i mean).
This makes the game play confusing, as GW2 still retains the basics of healing and tanking, just that they weak.
As a Guard, i always find myself wanted in dungeon parties for “Tanking”(note the inverted commas). Now 50% of the time i can face tank in Story Mode, but aggro in this game is different/random, which usually ends up with team mates dying, hence my only role in GW2 is not a “Tank” but a “Survivor”(I couldn’t think of a better name to describe this role). Im there to survive the encounter so it doesn’t reset.
Then comes my second role, “Kite Tanking” which usually happens in all explorer mode and the other 50% of Story Mode where i can’t face tank. On top of my Survivor role, i will be Kiting 24/7 as i can’t face tank and survive.
A few examples:
AC explore, defend NPC mission, kite the critters while your teammates burn down burrows. TA last boss, kite Logan/Rtylock while teammates burn down/CC the rest.
As you can see, it has turn into Kiting game with Guards being labelled as a “Kiting Survivor” role. Therefore Kite Wars 2 lol.
I am just wondering if this is what Anet intended for Guards? What do you guys think? Feel free to share your experiences/concerns/tactics/realizations.
A lot of Guardians utilize Tome of Wrath and Courage right?
Am i the only one using Renewed Focused in both PvP and PvE?
Im usually a solo survivor/support build hence focus is keeping myself alive and to a certain extent my allies too, but priority is myself. Anet is BS with their support/control roles, this game is all about selfish plays(i find the support system more useful to myself than to others), it wins battles through endurance…
I find the Tomes detrimental to my role as im forced to babysit my allies at the expense of my own character.
I find the invulnerable and spammable virtues a bigger asset than tomes, as i can also use my weapon skills, unlike tomes where im left with tome skills with not much survivability.
