But then again, by making SY focusing on its original purpose of absorbing conditions from party members, its become obselete? As there many other better condition removal abilities with better CD and functions and synergy with all builds.

I don’t run with SY, i can’t understand all the rage for this nerf but after much investigation i think OP has to look closer from the point of view of the players and not from an elitist POV…
If you realize, a lot of the builds incorporate SY and Suprior Aria(reduce shout CD by 20%) into their build, it doesn’t matter if they are DPS, Glasscannon, Spirit, AH/Shout support, Tank/Bunker etc etc. SY either provides them with the extra survivability, or extra DPS and extra seconds to hold the position and so on. In other words, its become the BREAD AND BUTTER for most players/builds. Unlike GS nerf which doesn’t affect many builds
If you took that away, of course people will be kitten #8230;
3 things with High nerf potential:
Wall of Reflection
Monk’s Focus
Altrustic Healing
Mark my words, these 3 are probably already in their nerf testing servers and will be nerfed!!!
I think Anet is doing the “nerf it to the ground and then build it up from there” approach…

Cool idea but i find it pointless having more Weapon equips for Engineer when the class doesn’t allow weapon swapping. So what we can use 9999 weapons, when we can only effectively utilize one in battle while other classes can swap many.
Now, a Bow kit or a Hammer kit sounds more logical, but i prefer if they had a “Summon Robot” kit, it fits the engineer description better than a crossbow/hammer lawl…
@Cheyenne
LOL i beg to differ, Guardian is like Paladin, Anet is nerfing the class to the ground so that they can on build on it years later… Every patch has a major nerf bat, Guardians are getting abused and kitten #8230;
At least Engineer seems to be getting improvements albiet small and slowly…
Quite a number of engineer skills scales well with Healing Power. I’ve been trying to find a viable support build for engineer, any recommendations? Something similar to a Shout, Altruistic Healing, Symbols build Guardian, which is a good combination of Multiple Boons and Healing for the party.
I tried running an elixir build, with 5 elixirs skills but the Boons and Healing provided is pretty lackluster. Tried healing via Bombs, extremely useless trait/build. Only reasonable support i see is via Elixir gun with Kit refinement, for stationary HoT(kinda big downside). Theres also the water field combo for aoe healing which i run with all builds(using healing turret detonation, Healing mist+shield#4). Somehow everything seems really weak for enginner running a support role…
LOL, good thing i have an engineer to fall back on…
Warrior shield skills are way better than ours though. Thing is, Guardians are suppose to be shield experts, but our blocks are count based, not duration based. Warriors have duration based blocks. Only thing we have is shelter. Warriors have better block system than Guardians, but sadly most Warriors don’t go that build. Might as well transfer Warrior block system to Guardians…
LOL, give me kitten Empower animation, i don’t care. Just make it mobile while channeling…
Support is definitely a strong element in PvE, Dungeons and SPvP. In WvW, dont bet on it honestly lol, well consecretion builds are good there but only in Keep Defense, but total crap anywhere else in WvW or PvE/SPvP.
I love playing support role especially in PvE dungeons, not so much in other areas, plainly because there is minimal or no “Reward System” for support roles. Anet did very nicely in minimizing reliance on Holy Trinity System by implementing DPS, Control and Support role, but theres no “incentive, motivation” for playing a Support role.
Also between the 3 new “Classes” of DPS, Control, Support, im sure you all know that support is the weakest among those 3. I dunno if Anet intended the 3 roles to form a closed Triangle, but its not working now. I find DPS and Control classes to be the more prominent and dominating factor in battles.
Anyways, just my 2 cents.

From what i experience, for players who are Healers in previous MMOs(like me), +Boon Duration works much better than Healing Power.
We use to be useful in Keep defenses, with our AOE staff and Wall of Reflection, but now players are getting smarter, Staff and WoR becomes obsolete to be honest. We dont have a viable Burst or AOE range weapon. We’re not that useful anymore in defense.
But i do see myself excel in covert ops grps, going around ninja supply points and towers or backdoor. Basically party support or DPS in small groups.
Healing power helps in PvE content as GrayGhost mentioned, we can literally face tank/heal the party.
In WvW, i suggest you forget about it and go tough/vit, it’ll provide you more survivability than 1400+ healing power. The burst Dmg and the numerous conditions WILL greatly outmatch your HoTs and Direct Heals, not to mention the numerous Controls(Daze/Stun etc) flying around.
In sPvP, i also recommend going tough/vit, i realize sPvP has more burst damage going around compared to WvW.
RF is the best Elite Skill imo. Conditions vulnerability thingy is more of a balancing mechanic from what i see. I would much want to see RF made mobile…
Contrary to what most ppl say that Guardian has the best survivability, I notice Warrior actually has better survivability that us Guardians. We’re talking based on both professions going full tanking spec AND also base on individual survivability.
Warrior has bigger HP pool(to combat Conditions), better blocks(based on duration not # of blocks), a lot more VIABLE Control options(Stuns/Daze/Knockbacks etc) and their toughness on par with Guardian. So definitely Warrior is the better sole survivor.
But in team games, Guardian is a better asset, they do not have better individual survivability but has better team survivability than warriors, as most of their boons extend to party members and their traits are dependent on having allies within the area to boost the effectiveness of their traits, hence weak in solo survivability.
Agreed, it is just arficial difficulty and makes design so linear. They should allow more options such as running just through.
THIS!!!! Really Anet should not make stupid mini games compulsory, provide 2 routes, 1 with the mini game and 1 with a much longer route with mobs, either do mini game or clear trash mobs…
Not everyone is good at mini games, and not every party has a mesmer or thief… There are times where i rather mow down trash mobs than waste time on mini games…
Warrior… nuff said…
5 Warriors, don’t you guys know? Warriors are Anet’s FOTM man!!!! But really, seriously speaking, you’d be surprised how efficient a 5 man Warrior party can pummel through any dungeon like a mice in heat…
Honestly it doesn’t seem like a big deal to me. Most MMOs don’t have OP loot for completing their story quest.
Its always dungeons and grinds that nets the good loot, this is not a single player game where everything is spoon fed to the player.
AC story is hard for first timers but one you get used to it, its easy. Explore mode on the other hand, path 2 do is doable with levels 35-45. Path 1 and 3, its almost a requirement to have level 80s WITH good equipment, a level 80 with green equipment when scaled down, has worse stats than a level 35 in green.
This happens quite a lot… Personally if theres 1 guy bringing the group down, i won’t boot him, just that i won’t invite him next time, it certainly doesn’t warrant a kick.
They should allow character equipment viewing, so parties can decide if they want to take the guy or not. I rather they not take the guy before starting the dungeon than taking the guy, bring down the whole group and boot him…
Strongly support making #2 a symbol. I dont care about #1, just gimme the kitten symbol for #2 LOL…
Just to confirm this build is not viable with ranged party members right? I ran with a full melee party and i picked empowering might, i couldn’t go down.
But with a party with ranged users, i melt instantly…
@Fildydarie
I agree with you, but OP has a point. We have longer CDs due to more support abilities, BUT this is extremely punishing to DPS Guardians. Anet mentioned we can play any role/style we want with any class, the way i see it, after OP’s comparison and also after reading your findings, Anet is making Guardians purely support class. This is a serious flaw, Anet promised we can play any role/style right?
Now i always play a support role and im happy with the Guardians being support oriented, but i do sympathize with our fellow Guardians that want a DPS role.
A lot of trolls ask out fellow DPS Guardians to play warrior, but it only serves to strengthen the fact that Anet failed hard in their concept of every profession can play the role/style they want…
Im using this:
http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fUEQJARWlUgyCHFyvDfIFRuAbBYPwYG741DK6QGC
A bit similar to the build in above post. Buffing heavy build with a lot of focus on support/healing and very good tanking.
Using cleric set but im currently trying out Hotw set for precision/vit/healing power, to allow me to heal more through dodge roll and maybe switch to hammer.
Runes, your choice, either Soldier/Dolyak or Dwayna/Water. Sigils, i went Energy for quick endurance recovery.

Weapons are obsolete to engineers… The only reason i equip it is for #2 and #4/#5, basically, CC abilities… hence im using my starter rifle… sigh… Well at least i don’t have to spend so much gold and farm tokens like mad for weapons…
I bet you can suck a golf ball through a garden hose =X
EDIT: One thing about this profession is that it has a lot of stuff that is totally useless, so if something seems totally useless, it probably is. Its not just you
Hopefully anet will buff this stuff but until then we at least have a few strong pvp builds.
I would like to emphasize on this, i feel Anet puts in a lot of effort into making Engineer versatile and stuff, but unfortunately, 80% of the abilities/skills/traits are useless. In the end theres not much customization for builds compared to other classes… Well you can customize but it won’t be any much “improvement”.
Mortar seems like a good skill after hearing your story… but… no offense… AC last boss, doesn’t warrant an epic story, its one of the easiest Boss in the entire game, you could 3 man it, seriously, it only degrades Mortar/Turrets into being useful only in easy battles. Again no offense meant. Just my 2 cents.
I use to be Hammer Guardian before they start buffing up all the dungeons(more trash mobs, more CCs for trash mobs). Once they buff the dungeons up i somehow can’t play the Hammer like i used to lol. Switched to GS and things got better.
I feel GS has better mobility than Hammer, thus better survivability. Bought a AC hammer last night to try get back to the Hammer routine but having problems haha. Still trying out the auto attack dodge thingy…
One thing that puts me in a dilemma are the traits for symbols. Theres so many good traits to take but only 3 slots. Theres Larger Symbols, Longer Duration Symbols, All Symbols Heal, Lower Shout CD, Lower 2H weapon CD, PoV, BP. Dunno which 3 to pick…
I bring full set of weapons a Guardian can equip everywhere i go, only takes up like 8 slots? Don’t have to ensure they are all exotics, all my ranged weapons are rare, while the rest are exotics.
Most dungeons are somewhat melee friendly 70% of the time.
@Eviator
I have to say I’m with you on this. GW2 doesn’t have the Holy Trinity system, so no such thing as all out DPS, Pure support(Healers), Pure defensive(Tanks). I believe having a group with every player spreading out their focus(i.e. Jack of all Trades) is better and more to what GW2 stands for.
Splitting party members to different roles is reliance on the Holy Trinity system and as we can see, is not what the devs intended.
Can anyone provide figures of how turrets work? Do they scale with level only? How much is the level scaling?(Cos if im not mistaken our weapon kits scale with level, with having 900 base dmg at lvl 80, much less than an exotic weapon)
Because honestly if they gonna make turrets scale with stats, something else will get nerfed hard hence i propose halving CDs for turrets as compensation instead of scaling with stats.
Running dungeons heavily now + farming karma just for gear.
Im running 0/5/30/30/5. Valor: V, VI, XI. Honor: II, IX, XI/XII. Skills: Shelter, Retreat, Hold The Line, Stand Your Ground/Save Youselves.
I think its pretty self explanatory, basically a survivor and buffer build. My logic is simple, i survive to prevent wipes. A lot of people run full DPS builds, they die a lot, dead dps = no dps, dead party = wipe = inefficient token farming. A lot of DPS players(90%) are horrible at playing their class, call me stuck up but this is a fact, i’ll admit i’m not a good DPS player but thats because i’m a healer for my entire MMO career lol. Only elitist are experts in running full DPS but i don’t really like playing with them.
Anyways, using GS + Staff, so kinda hybrid between offense and defense/support. I think everyone can more or less figure out the playstyle.
Imo, Engineers are the hardest class to master, we have way much more utility and micro management than any other class. Many people who main other classes always claim their class is the hardest to master etc etc, as someone who has dwelled in a couple of classes, i can safely say Engineers have the hardest learning/mastering curve than any other class, may i say triple kits.
Don’t be dishearted though, learn slowly, its absolutely fine.
Exactly, pls dont give Anet any ideas to totally change the Engineer class. Engineers work wonders in sPvP where they have full weapon stats applied even in kits due to PvP amulet.
I dont care if we cant utilize sigils as long as i get my low CDs and toolbelt. What i DO care and I believe the most important burning issue is weapon stats applying permanently to our characters regardless of weapon swaps. This is more important that sigils, as sigils can be replaced with Kit refinement trait.
I think you guys do know that in sPvP, engineers receive the weapon stats as its stats and also rings/accessories stats are all combined into PvP amulets. I dont understand why there is differentiation between sPVP vs PvE,WvW.
The methods you guys suggest will totally kill the engineer class, no more triple kit etc etc, the most simple fix they need to do is just make the weapon stats permanent. Thats all, no need to think complicated. Besides this is a justified reason as in sPvP engineers do recieve the weapon stats, i dont see the reason why it shouldnt apply to PvE+WvW.

Afaik, theres no Hearty eqs until you hit lvl 80, where there are a few sets like God Armor or Dungeon sets like SE and Hotw.
@OneManArmy
There is a Toughness/Vitality/Precision Armor set, Weapon and Acc/Rings/Amulet?
What are they? I been trying to find it.
Also are there Toughness/Precision/Healing or Vit/Precision/Healing Armor/Wep/Acc/Rings/Amulet?
What is going to happen to future new players when the population is settled at level 80 grounds?

This is quite a worry to me too. It was a problem in GW1 where i always find myself doing the wolrd instances alone with henchmen. I hope Anet scales up the DE rewards, to encourage high levels to play in low level areas but don’t scale the drops(to allow high levels to farm low level mats for whatever reasons, having to create/delete characters and match/maintain their levels to farm low level mats is very annoying), also helps prevent overcrowding in CS Orr etc etc.
@arminius
Despite the scaling up, theres a significant gap in strength between an 80 in full exotics and a non-80 or even an 80 in greens.
No matter the skill of the player or how skill based this game is, equipment always play a big part like all MMOs. Contrary to what some “elitist” players claim where its purely skill based and keep telling you to L2P, i’d dare them to PvP naked and see them play “Pro”
Nice!!! Craft a Twilight pls!!!
Btw, how you guys know you’re the first?
I seem to recall hearing in an interview that you can combine the two legendary greatswords to create a third legendary greatsword. I have no idea how true this is but, if so, it does confirm that there are other legendaries out there.
iirc, they both combine to form Eternity. I haven’t seen it in person but im told it has effects of sunrise in the day and twilight at night. Sounds awesome imo.
Hi everyone,
The previews of the legendary weapons do not do them justice as it’s not exactly what they “really” look like. You’ll know more about this soon.
I can hardly wait!!!! Anet prolly gonna release a new equipment quality tier above Legendary(maybe they gonna call it “Godly”) and its 10x harder to acquire than Legendary… Yay!!! More farming with DR code!!!!

Ranger.
Why do you thing most Bots are ranger profession?
Complete disappointment. I thought the airship would crash and the battle would continue on the ground, but no such luck. A climax where you never really engage the enemy who has been hyped up for dozens of hours isn’t a climax, its just bad design.
I wouldn’t care if they retrofitted it, as its pretty terrible leaving it like it is.
Anet Forum Manager: Dude wants airship to crash.
Anet Dev: No problem!!! I’ll put in a cutscene where the airship crash and deals 99999 AOE dmg. I hope they will enjoy it!!!
Kite Wars 2.
Where more than half of the available weapons and skills are melee but you will hardly use them. Where thief turn into engineers, warriors turn into rangers, guardians turn into mesmer. Where heavy armor is paper, medium armor is tissue paper and light armor is practically naked.
Have to agree with Grakor, its better to stack on stats for a specific role rather than mix and match. From what i experience trying to spread out your stats is detrimental to your role, so you either stack all cleric for bigger heals or stack all Vit/Tough for survivability.
So here I am , I know I know it`s bad but…Till lvl 50 I didn`t had any problem with vitality + toughness gear … but nowwwwww ! I can`t find any , not even in the trading post ! I want my gear to be just with vitality and toughness , but I can`t find any now ! Whats wrong ? There isn`t any after lvl 50 ? I`m confused … please replay.
I was in the same situation too. After lvl 50, i started using power/precision and just slot with vit/tough runes all the way to lvl 80. Lost a lot of tanking power but it trains you to rely more on your shouts and wep skills.
Hopefully anet will buff this stuff but until then we at least have a few strong pvp builds.
