your right wvw population now days are largely pvx players but 1-2 years ago it was a different story. Most of those guilds have moved on out of frustration and boredom sadly leaving wvw a shadow of its former population #’s.
Official GW1 GvG existed years before this GW2 fanmade version. Your idea of the gamemode has nothing to do with the original one, so you WvW guys in no way have the right to be upset about GvG not being what you wanted.
It’s like I make a company called Apple in a 3rd world country (years after the company we all know was created) and start selling ice cream, then the real Apple comes to the country and I sue them for the name.
What you do is ZvZ.
That is your opinion which is largely based off inexperience of gw2 gvg, And honestly your apple example makes no sense in this context. Gw1 ranger/mesmer have very little in common with gw2’s. Should we not call them something else then? After all as ranger main in gw1 im shamed by the one in gw2
people that gvg dont care what its called but it is in fact a guild vs a guild in a planned organized setting with set rules that govern the entire “gamemode”. It stems from a large portion of the wvw community desiring a way to test themselves against opposing guilds in a wvw format. This has never been provided because it is direct opposition and would detract from the attempts to create spvp into the esport it was hoped to be.
They have even been forced to create their own websites to support this mode (which is largely an unregulated cesspool of personalities). Yet given the player drive and desire more game modes are created for spvp instead which only further reinforces the feeling of a misunderstood and abandoned community.
It would have to be a free update or they would be required to split wvw between the expansion and base
GvG is 8 vs 8 from gw115 vs 15 and 20 vs 20 is more of GW2 made in wvw. If any thing talking about GvG should be an spvp talk not a WvW talk.
That is the concern though. In gw2 Gvg has become a player supported and created content, and in the past it has been in direct conflict with their “gamemode” while actively trying to eliminate any talk of it by moving every thread to the most remote corners of the forum. the gw1 style will simply cater to spvp players and those that Are largely inactive in the gw2 Gvg scene. While I don’t know details like anyone else, npc’s and openfield siege are in direct violation with gw2 Gvg.
Surprised I haven’t seen it mentioned
Ranger – hammer
Wouldn’t it be easier if there was an option to not show cumulative damage as default..
Then when I hit something – I really understand what the actual damage I really did for that hit was.
This would probably enlighten a lot of people how much damage things do in a clearer way without having to peer into the combat logs?
If they want to see as a menu option:
1) cumulative damage done per skill
2) damage done vs a particular foe from you (cumulative total- resets to 0 when you swap for). This would probably make things a lot clearer for everyone to see what’s really going on.
and then try to read all the numbers flying around the screen? -_-
But that was my absolute favorite thing about an SS necro in gw1. Was glorious if you set it off on a large enough group.
We wvw players cry for a trader where we can buy ToK for badges. Most of us dont like the boring pve leveling, dont have the money to lvl with crafting and dont want to punish our world with an upleveled rallybot.
Ironic that the best way to get them is in the game mode that it’s least needed.
Seeing as they wouldn’t really fight each other the who’s better argument means very little. On the up side it would cover a few time gaps and make for some serious server matchups.
I’m glad it isn’t here, and I’d despise them for adding it. It adds nothing useful, and people can already pvp quite extensively.
Why would you despise them for adding something someone else wants. That would be like me despising them for adding a dungeon because I personally don’t like them.
Target Stats for Melee:
2k power unbuffed
2.8k-3k armor (3050 max before SIN)
17-18k HP Guard unbuffed
24-25k HP Warr unbuffed
30% Crit chance (can be buffed with oils)
pretty much the baselines set by most competitive wvw guilds for frontline melee
And with the heavy condi people tend to run (depending on tier/server ofc) My opinion would be too much armor too little health. My favorite front line builds look more like http://gw2skills.net/editor/?fVAQFABoghoypGszgN4LvOCywAA-TVCBABV8AAUUHwZKBxSJnXKDA4CAklSBLV/pn9HCAgA4oH9oH9oHtbezbezbezSBwkyI-w

Remove rally and you fix biggest issue with downed state
The issue is that they put all the biggest/highest score servers from each tier grouped together. Effectively they created a coalition of all the strongest wvw servers, in respect to their tier.
On breaking combat, be sure to stay within the bounds of the fighting area. stay out of the stands/spectators, can’t use them for cover.
Im working on stuff. Working very kitten it in fact. I can’t tell you what in working on but I do read the suggestion box and my PR team tells me this is what you want. I can’t tell you which suggestions I’m working on though. I can tell, however, my target audience should love it! If there are issues with my marketing teams interpretation of your suggestion i can address that and fix it when it’s ready and have given it adequate time develope feedback. In the meantime keep leaving your suggestions in my box, My teams will crunch the numbers to determine the lowest hanging fruit.
Keep creating the unique currencies. Each region event will still have its an unique currency this way if that’s the desired goal. Now, my thought:
make an NPC that will appear in a region once the active story has moved on. Here you can trade in the various currencies for one common universal currency (an indie coin just for reference.
Next step, make any merchant that takes unique coins like wvw tokens/geodes etc and give an alternate price in “indie coins”. I could imagine some tokens being easier than others to farm so there would need to be an inflated price using “indie coins” vs the requested currency. OR balance the exchange rate for “indie coins” depending upon how easy the exchanging currency is to aquire.
Pros:
-Now you only need to add 1 additional slot to the wallet for past and future unique currencies.
-excess/old/discontinued currencies will have a continued use
-creates an alternate means to aquire items locked needlessly behind difficult to aquire currencies.
Cons:
Easily farmed currencies could create a problem if the exchange rate is not balanced correctly on one end or the other.
Sad to see this thread dying off
https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/game/gw2/Lets-talk-about-the-new-Gem-conversion
Gaile, another clear example of non-transparency. Again, the policy is making the gaming experience more toxic than ever because you’re (Anet) not allowed to discuss stuff in progress. We are force-fed this, then adjustments have to be made because of the forum-goer’s policy of “torch and pitchfork” to anything not agreed upon and not communicated with, to us.
It’s A-grade damage control, and it doesn’t have to be that way.
This is more than just a general backlash; there is merit in a lot of the complaints. We weren’t told of anything going on with the gemstore interface, nor the increment of currency being non-adjustable (I know the team is onto this now), nor the removal of the graph, etc.
A lot of stuff just wasn’t called for. And why? Why is it so necessary to change a lot of the game’s gemstore interface? It’s not because of new players, that much has been answered already (in the linked thread). And again, the new players (and NPE) are the butt of jokes in the forum, because of the confusion factor.
Gaile, mark my words, you’re going to lose a lot more people (and the lifeblood of gem sales in the game) by adjusting something that wasn’t necessary and completely taking the rug out from under your established playerbase’s feet. The playerbase that had no problem navigating the old gemstore interface at all. Us older players (veterans) adapted to the game — why can’t newer ones?
Again, it’s another clear example of the lack of transparency we have.
This. You didn’t have to ask, “hey we want to do this, what do you guys think?” The transparency would be “hey we think the gem store is confusing to new players and are looking into ways to simplify it.” You wouldn’t have to give details but at least you would get feedback instead of assuming the people trying to maximize profit know best, because that’s how the game has felt lately.
Hey there,
Here are a few tidbits from the team:
- A lot of newer players had trouble with the interface. That doesn’t apply to you, you’re veterans who have been around the conversion block a time or two. But newer players will benefit from the updated system.
- The goal was to make the Gem Store more like other shopping experiences, and if you think about it, there is more of that feel to it now.
- You may be surprised to know this (I know I was) but very few people bought gems at smaller denominations than the first one offered in the new system. That’s not to say they never did, nor that there wouldn’t be the desire to do so. But overall, the current options were selected based on player purchases in the past.
- The team is going to listen to your feedback and, if and when it’s practical and desirable, they can look towards adjusting the new system to better meet your needs.
So please keep your thoughts coming on the new system. Feel free to make suggestions but please, keeping them constructive would be very much appreciated.
My main issue is with points 2&3 but mostly 2. I have never once went shopping and paid more than I had to for my intended item. That position to me is saying people go to the store then purchase a $20 gift card to pay for my $15 item. If this was truly to simplify the gem store, pricing would offer incremental levels that exactly reflect item price/gem price. However, I’ve had enough marketing/sales experience to see their hands in this decision. Now people are forced to purchase more gems than needed creating a near constant imbalance of too many or too few gems.
https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/upcoming-events-in-guildwars2/
Exactly 1 month ago, they releaed their plans until the end of the year.
Not very impressive… and planning for “the end of the year” is the same as planning 3 months out at this point.
Halloween and xmas will be mostly recycled from the previous years, so nothing new in that “plan” except for the last part of LS2 (which is late considering it should be on a 2 week cadence instead of a month on, month off, month on, etc.)
OP asked for Anets future plans and here they are.
If they dont meet your expectations, thats a different discussion.
Fact is that they announced their plans 3 months in advance.
What I read from it, and what I’ve gathered from the backlash on the forums, it’s not about what events are planned that transparency is requested in. It’s more “x issue has been here since beta, is there any discussion internally about it?” A simple “yes we are aware but are having difficulty finding a balanced approach to fixing it that doesn’t break something else.” Would satisfy many people. More than anything people want confirmation that their issues and concerns are at least being looked at and considered.
The typical PR is “can you tell us if you are working to fix x issue?” Response " we can’t talk about that right now". There is even a video montage of interviews with a counter that includes the typical response to any questions the players voice as concerns.
The CDI was potentially an answer to this, however, it turned quickly into “sorry been too busy to keep up to date, someone please summarize this for us” out of the CDI we get comments that show an interest but lack an suggestion of follow through. When things have been taken out of it we get the commander tag fiasco. Why did that happen? Because they failed to listen to what people were actually wanting. marketing read a summary that said more colors and account wide $$$$.
TL;DR They don’t have to make promises, just acknowledge peoples concerns. Start treating the playerbase as an invested client and not a pre-schooler to be guided and protected from disappointment. People are far more forgiving if you tried and failed a goal than if you act like you are ignorant of it while working in the shadows.
I would eagerly pay gems for that.
I imagine it would be: you need to buy 1 inventory bag for each character that wants to use it.
I see it as: Mystic Bag, sold in gem store for 800 gems. you buy one, equip it, you can put things in it just like a normal invisible bag, and things in it don’t appear when selling stuff or depositing. you buy a 2nd one, equip it to a 2nd character, everything in the first bag is visible by both characters, and both characters are able to take things out and put things into it. you can buy a 3rd one, equip it to a 3rd character, same deal. omg, that is such a great idea.
does it really have to be strictly blueprints? one of my current bags is for food, oil, blueprints, contracts. all 3 of those would be hella useful on all characters.
only problem I see is if someone equips 2 to one character – would it be 2 different bags? or the same thing shown on both bags? my vote is for the same things shown on both bags so that this would strictly be 1 bag per character. but the bags should be account bound so that someone can make that mistake, then correct it themselves.
Agree, making it into other items would make it useful for the most people in multiple game modes. It wouldn’t have to be many slots either, even 5-8 slots would be a great convenience. It does become a pain shuffling items across multiple characters when not all if them are standing next to a bank.
Because it would have little to no use outside of wvw (if strictly blueprints) the other communities would throw a tantrum.
“I demand” brushed it off right there.
Don’t punish stats, too many people will cry so anet would never consider it. IMO something as simple as:
- the Zerg after x number of people within a given radius shows up on a map allowing you enemies to view your movement.
- Or a speed debuff, but that goes back to stat changing.

You realize if it is in fact an exploit you are likely to get banned as well for making a public thread and increasing the popularity of it right?
So making a thread to ask about reporting people for doing an exploit is gonna get me banned? That’s even more ridiculous than the exploit itself
Perhaps, but it was in the exploit explanation you posted. So regardless of intention, you are drawing attention to the issue and publicizing an “exploit” likely resulting in even more people doing it, more people friending the farmers, and as a result more farmers raging at the people trying to do it legitimately.
I was actually just wishing for this last night. +1
You realize if it is in fact an exploit you are likely to get banned as well for making a public thread and increasing the popularity of it right?
In addition, players that publicize an exploit are also subject to suspension or even banning, regardless of their motives, since well-publicized exploits require ArenaNet to react immediately to prevent the abuse, which diverts resources away from the rest of the game.
Careful.
My pass time is to siege up random keeps and choke points to farm the trains. Great fun.
Creating more maps would just spread the already thin population. I would think for your goal you would want a mega server system like EOTM to pull the scattered population together. You may even gain support of this idea from the gvg community.
And….. Added to their ignore list.
If I interpret the given formula correct, the ratings for equal matches would decline.
For example: guild A and B start with 1000 points. guild A wins, new rating: A = 1000, B=985. As they were equal, guild A would deserve a bonus in rating points.
Then the two guilds directly start another round, A wins again. New rating: A = 991, B = 974. Those ratings are still that close that I would consider the guilds to be equal.Furthermore I believe it might become a problem that you only consider which team has won, not how good that victory actually was.
So are you suggesting base it off of rounds won/lost like 4-3? I can’t think of another accurate measure for how “good” a fight is.
My mistake, scimmed over that, and agreed pvp and pve should always remain separate.
I have recently played some WvW…Is it my fave thing to do in GW2 no its not really its frustrating and sometimes out right upsetting. I have had some good days with the zergs and I have had more bad days. BUT if GvG means people would be attacking my kitten while I am playing a PvE map I would quit playing the game and delete it from my comp cause when I am in PvE I want to play PvE if I want someone running up on me and attacking me I will play PvP or WvW. So coming from someone that has had little good to say about WvW or PvP Heck to the Naw Keep WvW the way it is and keep PvE and PvP the way it is….some things could be fixed and sure add the GvG to the game but do not add it to PvE or take away WvW just to appease someones idea of wanting to feel big and bad cause he can run up on loners or a few people with his large guild cause he is to afraid to play WvW or PvP. kitten cause you got yer kitten kicked then stop playing it. Like someone said Don’t think this game is for you.
Not sure where it was suggested that there should be open world pvp to make gvg viable.
Should also tie in a time restraint, ex a guild must be 3-4days -1week old or must hit a certain research mark in the guild to unlock it. 2 of anets favorite things time gates and gold sinks.
It’s sirius, someone didn’t congratulate Indie.4129 in an online game about an online game.
So I will do, congrats Indie.4129 for your post above mine.
Funny how you try to talk for everyone, while you aren’t.
Mad? I talk only for myself, never make claims otherwise. Also, thank you for for recognition I feel completed now.
…
No, two trolls are the source of this drama, not TA. Generalizing is why we have false stereotypes and rascism. Some TA members commended NS and AGG for their fights, but that was lost in all the people calling TA crap. It’s a shame we can’t generalize all of TA for the good comments that were made by a few, no instead people only focus on the trolls.
Exactly, Both sides need to show a little more mutual respect. However NA has an entire server reserved for trolls, it’s going to happen regardless. TA on the other hand needs to get their house in order because their name is getting kicked in the dirt because the free reign and lack of response by their leadership. Many people respect TA and many of the old EU guilds. The truth however, EU has always prized itself the best in gvg, spvp, and individual skills very loudly across several forums. That being the case all these white knights trying to defend are only making matters worse. I bet that if TA leadership had made an official statement even congratulating or acknowledging their opponents skill this would be dying off. Instead all that is seen is the excuses given by their unofficial reps backed up by the white knights.
Giving an excuse for a loss instead of congratulating a victory is a very big insult. Time for TA to step up and put this to rest or it never will.
There’s ping excuse again. Loss is a loss. The RG members have faced it before and knew what to expect. There also is the assumptions leading to this mess. EP was not the king when they left. They were one of the top 5 but had actually lost handily before and after the trip. Of course no one chest thumped for beating what they saw as an inferior guild, however they did go to the forums insulting the NA scene based on EP’s performance and offering backhanded compliments. They did however beat TA the sole source of this entire drama.
No officials from TA have made a single statement denouncing their members actions. As such by staying silent and taking no actions (evident by how long the same people have continued this), they are allowing these individuals to represent their guild for better or worse.
Also yes, there are numerous posts in the gvg scene stating euro superiority and how NA has always been 3-6 months behind, which up to this point hasn’t been disproven. Now the flood gates are open after 2 years+ of overwhelming smug. I seriously think all of maguuma had a simultaneous “accident” spiking keyboard sales after the victory.
Wonder why no respect to EU? Because non has ever been shown or deserved outside of a small handful of guilds (RG, VOTF, GH to name a few) show respect to get respect.
NS Driver suffers from ping/lag = entire train risks being in a bad spot till he clears up.
-If driver dies gvg is typically decided.
-NS driver didn’t get first pushed.
Sacrx strongly favored Agg over his former members. Why?
-Because he recognized good/bad plays
-former RG members should be familiar with the latency, didn’t complain when they previously dominated.
TA reps have been chest thumping for months against both EU and NA guilds
- proud to be undefeated
-all-star team made up of seasoned vets.
-winning the EU scene easily with limited competition
-claims to be months ahead of the NA meta cough(EP mainstreamed gank squad)cough
-makes a big spectacle about their NA tour
-secretly transfers back to Eu after 2 loses (canceling already scheduled gvg’s)
-TA reps and fanbois come out of the woodwork full of excuses
How about an acknowledging that there are equally skilled opponents and finally deflating the eu ego that has been here since launch. Show some respect and stop underestimating your rivals. NA has several top guilds and #1 changes weekly.
It has just been proven the top NA can hang with the best EU can offer. I’m sure if they would stay and learn the NA tactics for a month things would be even and wins would go both ways. Same if NA went to EU, there will always be a small difference in strats that can be adapted to with minor changes.
Aussies have arguably worse ping than euro on NA servers. NS had a number of Aussies on their squad, as well the driver I believe. Sooo… There are pretty equal grounds there, possible even favoring TA. What’s the next excuse because this isn’t holding water.
Believe Agg also has a few euro and ocx on their gvg squad. Whaaaaaaat
