Will there still be a way to BUY tomes of knowledge? I’ll be a little miffed if that’s not the case.
Is this in the borderlands or EBG? If you are wanting to upgrade a single location, it really has to be one of the keeps in your own borderlands. It’s very important to have scouts there telling people what’s going on. If there’s just a small group at the tower, you can repel them with an AC or cannon. If a zerg gets there, you have to call for help on map chat and see if a commander can come to the rescue.
Your other option for checking upgrades would be on your EBG side cycling among towers and your keep or SM checking on their progress and seeing if there’s any resistance but that would be more than one structure you are interested in. It wouldn’t really be worth it just to stay in one structure on EBG unless it’s SM.
This example happened in Eternal Battlegrounds, however, if it’s easier to maintain in the borderland I’m probably going to start spending way more time there.
That’s how you get fights.
What about when a large zerg comes in and tosses out all of your work?
Is this an alright thing to do, or is it seen as wasteful and unneeded?
I’m fairly new, but alongside two other players I spent about 20 minutes upgrading one place and defending against the three to four player groups that showed up.
It was surprisingly fun! I’m a Ham/Bow warrior, so I mostly stayed with my hammer and attempted to stun-lock enemies so that the thief and elementalist fighting along-side me could plow through everyone with as much damage as possible.
I only ever ran into trouble with one Warrior that kept stability on himself. Since I was capable of doing the same, it was a pretty close fight.
People still go eotm? ? Wow
Ham/Bow warrior with PVT gear here.
Yeeeeeep
It’s actually a lot more fun than normal WvW if I don’t have anyone playing in EB with me.
Human Ranger.
Don’t judge me I love my ranger lol.
No judgement at all. The most fun I’ve ever had with ranger is gathering 10+ mobs in a close space and killing every single one of them with Barrage while my wolf rips through them.
If you could only play one race and class through the whole game, what would it be. Let’s go ahead and assume that the class you pick will not be over or underpowered and a perfect ideal Guild Wars 2 is what you will be playing.
For me:
It’s a toss up between Human or Norn for the race and Warrior or Guardian for the class.
If I really had to pick… Eh… Human Guardian. I can’t toss away the good look Cobalt (Greatsword) gives me in T3 armor.
Garrett Vinter
Garrett in norse means Defender and Vinter is the scandinavian form of Winter.
Try this: Honor of waves Chest and Legs, Ascalonian Catacombs gloves and boots.
You’ll look like a knight in shining armor with a roman touch due to the short sleeves on the chest piece. Also, due to the sleeves, having gloves on is completely optional. You could just have the chest, legs, and boots visible and you’ll look pretty cool.
I used Silver for the metal parts and midnight red for the cloth. I’d post a picture if I was able. I may edit this post with one when I get home.
Or, if anyone is kind enough to preview my setup, go ahead and post a picture.
Edit: Here’s the image, as promised. Sorry it took so long, class ran longer than expected.

Am I close to being a rally bot?
If your plan is to stay in bow during large scale encounters you are fine. If that is the case you may be in better shape with Sword/Warhorn offhand or Sword/Shield. It is unconventional but effective for in fight mobility. If you are roaming, drop the bow and get a LOT more condi cleanse.
In its current form, the build cannot effectively stand in the middle of AoE. Condi builds will rip it up without support. If a decent thief gets on you, your invuln and GS mobility is the only thing that will save you.
I already stay in Longbow while I’m in a zerg. (With the exception of Edge of the Mists Champs.)
I have no issue with that. Now, I’ve never actually tried roaming. Is it profitable? If so, I’ll change my build to something like this: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vIAQJARTjMdUGaXIOewJaAB9QD/iqQpYOsjkizYAB-zkxAYrholALiGbZrIasqFMVJRUt3oIa1CCQWA-w
Oh and using Restorative Strength with Healing Signet is a giant waste. Activating that signet reduces healing output… with some rare exceptions a player should never activate that signet.
That issue was fixed due to a previous reply.
You can get the armor softcap (2700).
Armor does not have diminishing returns if that’s what you’re saying.
Agreed there is no “soft cap” on armor. It is a divisor and a direct counter to power. Healing scales better with armor than vitality so play styles that put players into direct contact with a lot of direct damage should stack toughness. Most melee builds running less than 3k in a group setting in the current AoE meta is likely a rallybot.
2700 armor is asking for BIG crit shots as well. Warriors have big windups, eat a lot of damage to output theirs and have excellent passive healing. This makes them prime candidates for stacking toughness.
Am I close to being a rally bot?
As a Warrior my guild and I have found running zerker is a very fun and relatively easy thing to do in WvW. It can get dicey in zergs unless you are running with a pretty good group and is good at water fields and movement, but is still pretty easy as long as you keep moving in a pug zerg. If you want to use the build you posted there are only a couple suggestions I would make to help you out, get rid of Restorative Strength since you do not EVER want to actually use Healing sig and replace it with either Great Fortitude or Short Temper. Another thing is you almost need Dogged March in the defense line in WvW helps tremendously.
This is the build I have been using for months now and it will almost always win in a 1v1 and 2v1s. WvW Zerk War
In this you can switch out GS for any weapon you want, but I like to run GS because with leg specialist you can hit someone with bladetrail and spike them with hundred blades pretty well if you position it right. Eviscerate on axe will end fights and it is very easy to set up with throw axe or shield bash. When in a zerg v zerg fight it is needed to keep moving at all times and Whirlwind Attack is a lifesaver.
That build? Could use some work. Doesn’t matter, you’re a warrior. You’re overpowered.
Any ideas on improvements?
I periodically run a full GC Staff ele in zergs and it’s incredibly powerful and effective. Just be very, very, very, very careful to stay with the group and on the tag and not to be caught lingering behind even a little bit or an opportunistic Thief (or something else) will flatline you.
That’s what I’m worried about. So, I’m not even going to attempt full zerk gear.
Would the extra toughness from Knight’s armor keep me safe? This build has 3K armor, the full knight’s gear build I was running before this only had 800 more than that with 3K more health. I thought the extra damage was a really good trade-off.
Is it viable to bring Berserker’s gear into WvW? I’d probably roam a little but mostly stick to zergs.
The build I’m thinking of running would still give me 3K armor and 20K health, so I’m hoping I wouldn’t be downed easily.
Mentioned build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vIAQJARTjMdUGaXIOewJiAAp4rsMKMCIli5sLV4MA-zkxAYrholALiGbZrIasqFMVJRUt3oIa1CCQWA-w
I recently bought a $25 gem card and spent all but 400 of the 2000 gems on black lion keys trying to get a weapon ticket. I did not get a single ticket. So, now I’m farming for one. We “Key farmers” aren’t hurting anyone or anything.
I wanted to find out what the general consensus states about a low-level running through Edge of the Mists and Eternal Battlegrounds in order to level at a fast rate.
Are the lowbies seen as worthless, leaches, ect. like the dungeon community sees them, or are we welcome to run with the zerg as long as we try our best not to go down?
Has anyone spoken about the red line going down the middle of Norn T1 Cultural Armor?
Race: Norn
Sex: Male
Class: Warrior or Guardian
Armor: Norn Tier 1 Cultural
Description: There is a large and very noticeable red line going straight down the center of Norn T1. The line also goes down the middle of the two sides.
I’m going to be honest, I only have Knight’s gear and use it for everything.
Here’s my build: http://gw2skills.net/editor/?vIMQJARTj8cUGaXIefQHaABp4LyCjifAISPCjBcNA-zwxAYshoRFGiWCsIasltioxqYwUnER1+jioVDA-e
Now, I will say that I NEVER go into a zerk only LFG for dungeons. Seriously, stay away from them. I’ve never been in one, but I have a strong feeling they ruin the fun of a good dungeon run.
I’ve made this post before, but now I have new information.
My graphics Card works perfectly, there are no issues with it, it’s not about to fail, it’s fine.
All other games run perfectly with no issues. Guild Wars 2 is the ONLY game that causes this to happen.
Due to previous advice, I have completely uninstalled and reinstalled BOTH Guild Wars 2 and my graphics drivers.
The game did not have this issue after I reinstalled my drivers and then the game. However, the patch that went out this morning caused this bug to happen AGAIN.
See attached image for what I’m taking about
The “red-ish” flag / banner on the back of the Engineer’s basic pack
Scarlet… I think.
Could you get me a photo of it?
Enemies need to attack faster but with smaller damage spikes. Enemies should also dodge big, telegraphed attacks the same way players would.
Changing AI like that is a very bad idea. This actually happened back in beta, in regards to AOE attacks, to the point where nobody could actually land an aoe attack on a mob and putting aoe on ones self meant that a mob would never engage you in close combat.
I`m a warrior with a rifle…so any change like that would mean that rifle would become a pvp only weapon as my killshots would never land. Some ranged mobs already to to break off frequently and that’s ok for them, but if all mobs did that, for, say, thousand blades, then we may as well all just use auto attacks all day and where is the fun in that?
Or you’d have to learn to stun an enemy before a killshot. Or wait until an enemy has burned its dodges.
You do make good points, though. It’s something that would have to be done carefully.
It would add a bit more strategy to the game. That a feature we really haven’t seen in any MMO.
I really haven’t seen a thread like this. There may be a few, as I did not do any amount of searching. If so, I apologize.
How would YOU incentivise using gear other than zerkers in PvE?
I’m not saying that players aren’t justified in forcing others to use zerkers, because they are. Zerkers gear is the optimal choice if you’re out in open world PvE or Dungeons.
I personally have never used zerkers and find no issue finding groups for content, but having this mentality clouding Guild Wars 2 is some what disheartening.
So, once again, how would you incentivise using gear other than zerkers?
My suggestion:
Cause defencive stats like Vitality and Toughness to interact with skill cooldowns. For example, toughness could lower a warrior’s stance cooldowns.
(edited by InfernoHero.5687)
I doubt this is going to happen, even though i’d really like a race change myself. I think ANet even said multiple times that this won’t happen
What about class change?
I’ve always wanted a class change item.
To be honest, I have the same want for a race change.
I really don’t hear that many people complaining bout ascended. You are one of the few.
The problem is that this isn’t a gear grind. There is not reason whatever to get ascended gear and the benefit is so small it doesn’t matter. The only reason you need to get ascended would be high level fractals. but for the rerst it is totally optional. If you need ascended to be a good player, you’re not a good player!
I’m not complaining. Sorry if it came off that way. To be honest, if I wasn’t so busy leveling my third 80, I’d have Ascended on my Warrior.
I’ve got a few guild members that had a discussion on the subject and we came up with (What I thought was) a pretty good idea, so I posted it here.
I have heard many people complaining about ascended gear crafting. Their reasons for doing so include:
1. Anet promised there would be no gear grinding in Guild Wars 2
2. The gear isn’t worth the work due to the fact that, once you acquire your choice of gear, you are then stuck with the stats. With balance patches happening very frequently, this is a large issue.
I may have a solution to both problems.
Make Ascended gear’s stats equal to exotic, but have the “incentive” of farming for ascended gear be that you are able to change your armor’s stats just like you can with legendary weapons.
A secondary option would be to make legendary armors and accessories that share the property of legendary weapons.

Doing so now
This has been happening since the day I got the game. Very frequently, I will get a strange texture stretching all across the screen. It goes away if I move the camera to a specific angle, but comes back as soon as I move the camera again.
I’ve googled the problem, but all I could find were screenshots of people having the exact same problem:
I know for a fact that it’s not caused by a driver issue due to:
1. This only happens in Guild Wars 2
2. I have completely removed my drivers and reinstalled them.
3. I even went so far as to reinstall my OS and that didn’t fix it.
Here are my specs:
As an AH, EM, and Pure of Voice user, The people here have forgotten one thing:
PUGs.
As a 0/0/30/30/10 guardian, you become one of the best anchors in the group. On top of that, you’re curing as many conditions as you want to take the heat off of other group members.
The 2 War, 2 Mes, 1 Guard group setup works best with my build. If everyone goes down, I can stay up.
You’ve been a large help!
What about a weakness involving limitation?
Humans that are trained as athletes have to eat a LOT. Maybe his intelligence doesn’t drop when he goes for strength, but it takes a toll on his body. A toll large enough to make him collapse after a prolonged fight.
Starvation in humans eventually causes their body to break itself down and, basically, “Eat” itself. What if that happens constantly while he is exerting a large amount of strength.
If he is an above average norn, would that actually be a weakness? keep in mind what your goal is
Well, my logic behind this is: He still has his memories when he switches to either side, and he is an Asura. His education and any invention he has ever made would still stay with him.
He would “Remember” most of what he knows, so that would cause him to still think with some level of logic.
I’m mostly thinking of keeping his ability to communicate the same way. I don’t want to make him so dumb that he doesn’t sound like himself.
edit: an idea you can take or leave with that second idea: Each side of him is confident that that is all he needs. So in his intelligent state he loathes admitting that his intelligence isn’t enough for the situation. In his strong phase he thinks strength can solve everything. so may stay in each phase to the detriment of a lot of situations. This way he actually is smart and overconfident and dumb and… too dumb to admit he needs a smart solution. That would be both interesting and provide a kryptonite for him while avoiding just switching back and forth at the perfect time. otherwise it would seem like he is still super intelligent at all times and he just chooses when he needs strength.
That would setup the smarter version of himself to be the “Stronger” side. The more intelligent side would understand the need for strength, but still be very stubborn with switching. So, naturally, he would design situations ahead of time before he had to switch. Setups where the smarter side leaves the stronger side notes and instructions would be brought into effect.
If I go with the second option, how much would need to be taken away? He’s still an Asura. I don’t want him to lose all logic and be a raging hulk of his former self. Maybe turn him into a slightly above average Norn in that situation?
Thanks for the input!
Maybe I should put a weakness in through his augmentations? Maybe he can only control that level of strength for a short period of time before he has to once again rely on his quick thinking.
Or, maybe he has to choose between the two sides of himself for each situation. Maybe, once he takes his strength up, his brain power lowers due to the increased need for blood flow.
I’m in an RP guild, and I really want to be an Asura that is just as or more intelligent than the rest of his race, but strays from the pack in ethics.
So far, I have mapped out his story this far:
He had problems with his Krew due to the fact that he would always “Help” with everyone’s projects without asking. He would sometimes even catch a project before it was even put through the design processes.
Due to the fallout, he left Rata Sum altogether. He was fed up with no one appreciating his miss-guided altruism.
Due to a series of encounters with above-average humans, he moved into Divinity’s Reach.
With no where to live, he assisted an inn keeper by building “Butler” golems to take orders and assign rooms. The golems were small and compact, but could carry a person’s bags to their room.
While living in one of the inn’s rooms for free, he converted it into a basic laboratory and workshop.
One night, while attempting to actually get some sleep (A rare happening,) he saw a man fall to his death from his room’s window.
Taking the role of Private Investigator (Due to his own interest in the man) he found that the police force of Divinity’s Reach was not only less than acceptable, but outrageously corrupt. So, of course, they had ruled the man’s case as a suicide.
He made a deal with an up and coming reporter that came into the inn for a night’s drink. The reporter would publish any story that was given to him in exchange for every detail on the corruption of the police and the rights to publish any story on the secret investigation once it was finished.
Late one night, while the Asura dwindled on anything that he might have missed that night through the window, he was attacked. An intruder slammed into his little workshop and attempted to not only foil his plans of further investigating the case, but also any attempt he had at having a comfortable life with all of his limbs intact.
Due to the murder attempt, the Asura had to think quickly. He had a choice. Live with his current powers of Elemental magic, or recreate a machine he had invented to genetically enhance his body. It would restore him. It would make him stronger than he had ever been. However, it had… side effects. Any amount of magical ability he had was at risk the second he stepped into the tube. It could change magic, or it could rip it all away and leave him with nothing.
He looked to his arms and legs. He looked to the large gash on his lower abdomen. He had no choice. In order to bring justice to his new home, he would possibly give up everything.
The procedure took a full day. A full day of him being sedated while the only one he could trust, the inn keeper, watched over his tube as his skin stretched and his body rebuilt itself as new.
Stepping out, he looked at his reflection in his workshop table. He had done it. He had given up everything for this city. Why? Why did he care so much? His magic was gone. His body was not the one he was born with. He had gained strength in exchange for any magical research that he could ever attempt again. This was it.
With tears in his eyes, he began to trash his own workshop. Acting the most illogical any Asura had ever before, he closed his eyes and just succomed to madness for what little amount of time he could allow himself. His new found strength allowed him to break tables in his fingers. Through anger and rage that seemed to go on forever in his mind, he sensed something inside. He opened his eyes. Blue flames surrounded his destroyed room. Magical energy surged through his as his new powers awoke from within. With his own body, he had created a scientific miracle. He had invented Magical transmutation. His control of the elements was gone forever, but this new and raw energy at his fingertips was far stronger than anything he could wield before.
With this new-found power, and his genetically enhanced strength, he would take revenge for his city. He would protect his new home. He would be:
The Detective.

So, I’ve always stayed away from Ele and stuck to my Warrior and Guardian. Now that you can level in SPvP, I want to level one.
What’s the best weapon combo to use? I’m really liking Dagger/Dagger. Don’t enjoy scepter.
What should My build be based around? I really want to focus on staying alive or dealing damage.
no stability?
good luck with that.defy pain without a big heal (you can’t know if you have your shout up and still it’s only 6k for 3 shout) is useless.
use last stand instead, should work way better
Stand Your Ground works as a stability
Would knight’s gear actually work? I already have a full knight’s set.
btw you basically said nothing abotu your build because you didnt say the exact traits you use and which weapons
if you use the wrong traits weapons this build can be the most useless build!
Here is the build with soldier’s gear. This is most likely what I’m going to move to from my knight’s set.
Since they haven’t updated this build calculator yet, the adept and master traits I use in Tactics are Lung Capacity and Shrug it Off.
(edited by InfernoHero.5687)
Due to the recent patch, I changed my Warrior to use a hammer and healing shouts. There’s just one little thing that’s nagging me.
Should I use soldier’s gear for more health, or Cleric’s gear for more healing? I’ve heard that in full cleric’s each shout can heal for 3200+.
My build is 0/0/30/30/10
Currently, I have full Knight’s with cleric’s trinkets. This works, but I’m wondering if it could be made better with soldier’s or cleric’s.
Better?
Changed to Marksman10 trait that you mentioned.

This is the very first time I have ever gave a really long look to Ranger, and I think I pulled it off.
What do you guys think?
I’m currently experimenting with trying to get a sword and shield warrior to work well enough to be basically viable. I already have a warrior that I take seriously, so I thought I would build this one just for fun. Since I find sword/shield to be fun for the leap, the third skill, and the burst skill, I thought that I would try to make it as viable as possible. How did I do?
I know it’s not the best setup as far as weapons go, but I WILL make it work in some way. I want just one character with a sword/shield setup.
For guardian, shield is really bad. That’s why I want to make a second warrior and use this:
Do you see ANY way to improve it?
