It’s the servers. It’s random and usually right after patch. They know this.
So does PVP balance and skills. It’s been stated multiple times by ANet. They don’t want to split skills between PVE/PVP so they always think of PVE when balancing PVP. It’s really stupid because it means we’re at the mercy of pver’s and they are as well.
They don’t wanna overnerf Necro because it would affect pver’s. Perfect example.
They’ve been aware of so many bugged traits, bugged runes, underwhelming skills, underwhelming utilities, for so long, you lose hope after months and can’t help but be cynical of them. Especially when you go to PVE and see the tons of updates they get.
I’m not saying they’re bad at their job, or that they don’t care, I’m just saying look at the evidence and see for yourself bro. Not being cynical, it’s just the truth.
If we get lucky, we’ll get one of their copy/cutter replies like
Hey guys,
We agree with you. This has been something that has been greatly discussed and is definitely on our radar. There isn’t a time frame set yet, but I just just wanted to let you know it is something we are looking to change for the future. Sorry I can’t give more details at this time.
Because that’s pretty much all they tell us whenever they do reply. It’s never anything consistent. Speaking of Mesmers, why hasn’t Phantasmal Haste been fixed?
Should add RNG to Mesmer’ Chaos Storm as well. As for utility Phantasms, they should just have a separated from the weapon Phantasms. By that I mean keep the cap at 3 for clones/illusions/phantasms, but if you have 2 Duelists out and you summon Disenchanter or Guardian, and then switch to GS to summon IZerker, it should replace IDuelist before Guardian or Disenchanter. So you have the combat Phantasms replacing each other, and the utility Phantasms replacing each other as well. Kind of like the way Clones/Phantasms are split now.

We are aware of this and are taking steps to mitigate this type of play.
It won’t render Mesmer players skill-less, it’s just dumbing the class mechanic down. They agree with Pyro for the same reason I’ll agree with him, he’s right. I was thinking the same thing he said. This part in particular:
Part of playing a mesmer skillfully is knowing what phantasms and clones you have on the field, in what order you placed them down, which ones are in danger, and which ones will be replaced first. That increases the skill cap.
Any decent Mesmer player knows exactly what phantasm he has, and in what order he summoned it. It’s crucial when you are fighting in a heated match and you need to know if you drop that IZerker, will your Duelist go first, or the other IZerker at 10% HP? Do you need to shatter your current Clones before summoning your next Duelist? Sometimes I shatter while in mid animation to get the full effect before the next batch of Phantasms even come into play.
It’s part of what makes a good Mesmer. Knowing the class mechanics and learning to use them.
Named my Mesmer Illusionary Mesmer.
Get constant abuse in TPVP for ‘exploit’.

Balancing around PVP? What balance? What are you whining about. We get pos updates every month or more, while PVE gets new content/updates EVERY TWO WEEKS.
What do PVP players get? Nothing! Absolutely nothing! Even in WVW, you still get badges, and now the new crafting mats. What does SPVP get?
NOTHING.
Balancing around SPVP. What brand are you smoking dude.
New patch tomorrow, with guaranteed bs updates to PVP.
But no worries, Rome II is updating atm. Moving on to better games with Devs who actually care. And it hurts me to say it because I love ANet and GW to no end. But atm GW2 is just.. disappointing.
At PAX, the Dev response.. “I don’t really know much about PVP..”
:(
LOL.
Do I need to play a Ranger or is Mesmer ok?
In-game name, Illusionary Mésmer. If you can’t spell it, try Capitan Solo which is my alt.
The é is alt+0233
Rome II comes out the 3rd. So does the next update. Well guess how many people will go to that game, or future MMO’s and leave the bullkitten balance/meta that is GW2?
Rewards? ZKeys? Zaishen Chest?
Better godkitten balance?!
I don’t get it.
It won’t last. Give it a few hours.
In hotjoin maybe. If you play TPVP, you need to be good at pvp otherwise you let your team down and you lose.
Even in tPvP. All it takes is a few strong players to carry a few weak players. PvP in this game isn’t hard to win, if you are a competent player you can carry your team. The same is seen in MOBA’s such as League of Legends. If you’re good, you’ll climb. If you’re bad, you won’t go far. That doesn’t mean that weak(er) players can’t climb due to being carried. This is also seen in PvE. PVT players get carried by good zerk players, because they put in more work and contribute more.
Except in pvp, you don’t always meet the same level of difficulty. Different team line ups, builds, weapons, sigils, maps, runes. Some games are harder than others. You get utter stomps, and you get close matches. You don’t always get carried.
In 5v5 games, where every player is crucial, you can’t afford to be carried. It’s just not going to work.
PvE? PvE doesn’t take skill to begin with.
It doesn’t require skill to complete, you’re right. You also don’t have to be any good at PvP to win a match. You can have skill in PvE and complete content more quickly and efficiently, and you can have skill in PvP and win more games/duels. I always love when people who consider themselves PvP players try to belittle PvE players for having a lack of skill, because they more often than not run terrible tank gear and roll through dungeons at snails pace.
In hotjoin maybe. If you play TPVP, you need to be good at pvp otherwise you let your team down and you lose. I don’t belittle pve players. I’ve played every aspect of the game, but with WvW being the ever-dull ZvZ, SPVP is the only part of the pvp aspect of the game where I can still have fun.
PVE recently has become even more dull than WvW thanks to the lame invasion events where it’s just zerg, zerg, zerg, loot, loot, loot, repeat. I used to run dungeons a lot, and when I did I ran w/e the hell I wanted because it was usually with guildmates and we don’t give a rat’s kitten for going fast. And if we did, I would run full Zerk.
PvE? PvE doesn’t take skill to begin with. And fyi, healing skills are very easy to interrupt because of their animations. If you learn them. This is why the common complaint of Asuran size being an advantage since they are so small, it’s sometimes hard to tell what they’re about to do.
And this proves you are speaking of stuff you don t know of nor can comprehend since i explained when and why you are wrong.
Take few seconds to read my post and you will get better.
And try to avoid wrong cliches like PvE doesn t take skill….
For sure doesn t give the impression of a competent player.
Your post where you don’t even to refer to pve, but wvw? Which is basically PVP? Also, pve doesn’t take skill, that’s not a cliche, it’s just true. At least in this game where open world is a faceroll, dungeons are tedious but not difficult, ‘events’ are farmed for loot, and with the only challenging content being the Gauntlet.
Oh and on the stealth bit, once you learn the mechanics of a Thief, and how they play, it’s very easy to predict when and where they will appear to attempt a backstab.

False. It takes skill to make a build work. Builds are not auto-pilot.
Granted, there are builds which are basically holding your hand like Spirit Rangers but when you get a skilled player running it, it becomes a lot more powerful.
in 99% situation is not so.
Your build IS autopilot.Build + “tactic” = win
Skill is not needed and tactic is something you can see on youtube once and reproduce with no effort.
Suboptimal builds and not using tactics to negate mechanics, takes skill :/ and skill is not even enough often.
I beg to differ. A build won’t automatically interrupt a heal skill, it won’t tell you where the invisible thief will pop up. It won’t win the battle for you by healing you without you knowing when to heal, and how to avoid getting the heal interrupted.
A build gives you a set of tools to complete a certain objective. Be it roamer, bunker, cc, etc. It’s up to the player to use the tools with skill and actually complete the objective.

Use cond removal+swiftness. Stability also helps.
Ok so I’m a diehard fan of ANet and GW/GW2. I grinded my HoM up to 45/50 and I’ve already put in over 1300 hours on GW2. God knows how much I’ve spent on gems for things like armors, the special event RNG boxes, the harvesting tools, etc. All in all, I don’t regret it one bit because it’s still the best value for my money. I don’t buy other games unless it’s a Steam sale and then it’s just one or two, because most of the time I devote to myself and video games, it’s on GW2.
So after all this, I ask, is this really it? Or are we missing something? The birthday gifts seem empty. I don’t care for it not being the same as GW with the set of mini’s and the RNG. I’m ok with it just being a new way of doing things. I can accept that. But even so,
a) We get a mini. Everyone does. Who wanted Jenna? Who CARES about her?
b) The birthday boost. Ok, that’s nice I guess. I would have preferred something useful like maybe one of the weapon skins from all the past events. Make it account bound so I can’t sell it but it would have been nice.
c) The scroll. I don’t know why but it just seems so .. dumb for lack of a better word. We can only use it to reach lvl 20? I’m sorry but that’s just a wasted opportunity to make so many people and just have it +20 levels. I would have loved that immensely. I don’t think you realize just how much. I’m always putting off starting a new character/class because the thought of having to lvl from 0 to 80 again is just so deterring.
All in all, I accept the birthday gift. Thank you ANet, I love your game and I hope you continue to make progress but please, next time, think a bit more. Two small changes would have made this gift 100 times better. Instead of a preset mini, make it random. Or give us a choice of who we want at least. Maybe give us a choice of a mini mentor from the storyline like Forgal or Tybalt. And secondly, change the way the scroll works. People love your game, please don’t do these things that seem so thoughtless.
Yeah lets hold off the new build that might be fixing peoples glitches just for you.
Let’s not do it during the 15 minute downtime between events, let’s do it five minutes into the 45 minute event which will never get completed now.
In Darkhaven, right as the invasion started, new build.
OH ANET.
Ahahahahahahahahahahahaha!
I actually bought a set of Air Runes for jp’s..
But for pvp, you shouldn’t be roaming to begin with. Mesmers are not thieves’, the mobility is a huge weakness but the in-combat mobility makes up for it.
I’m running 20/20/20/0/10 atm for tpvp’s. It’s a ‘balanced’ build which I’ve taken on 1v2’s, Necro’s and even Spirit Rangers 1v1.
I take I, VII in Domination.
II and X in Dueling.
III and X in Chaos.
I in Illusions.
Berzerker’s with Valk Jewel. Use Mirror for healing, Blink, Arcane Thievery and Decoy. Mass Invis as an Elite.
Full Lyssa Runes, GS/Staff with Sigil of Sup. Strength on GS, Sigil of Superior Energy on Staff.
Or some equivalent. As is, there’s no incentive for the casual pve’r to come to spvp because there’s no rewards. Just armor skins or weapon skins that YOU CAN GET IN PVE.
Something like ZKeys from GW1 that players can buy with glory that opens a chest in the Mists where you can get exotics or something different that you can ONLY get from that chest.
Can we please? As is there’s no incentive to spend karma because everything you need, you get from tpvp reward chests. I’ve even stopped opening the chests because it’s the same old garbage every time.
haahaha he posted a thief build because mesmers are underwhelming and thief is still good.
Not just for wvw, spvp, or w/e. But what we need is a real Colosseum in Tyria. Where you can go for duels, GvG, PvE like the Gauntlet, and have its own rewards. Titles+Gold+Laurels+Mats, etc.
Thoughts?
Mesmer using GS and S/F with Air Runes + Mender’s Purity + Null Field + Mirror for Healing+Swiftness.
The one with multiple bosses is due to leaving the area when you’re in que. Stay close by and you should be fine.
I did it with subject 7 by spamming reflection, once you get the timing down it pretty much kills itself for you.
how can you spam reflection? it’s just one skill, others like shield of avenger are only absorbing them
He must be playing a Mesmer! GASP.
Or people who sync, basically abusing the system even more now because its a higher percentage of solo Q’rs over premades.
Sword- Infinite Light
Pistol- Ilya
Greatsword- Sunrise
Staff- Fused or Jade.
Focus – Fused.
It is possible yes, mostly you learn how many steps it takes for you to reach the ledges/jump spots. I’ve cleared the JP with no speed buff using invis, it’s tricky, but doable.
If anybody in Darkhaven needs a portal up, I’ll gladly port you up, toss me a pm or e-mail. Tell your guild, I’ll do full groups
OTHERWISE, I’ll be ganking NSP. I’ll be the Mesmer with Sunrise and Infinite Light.
Looking for active, pve guild, to do dungeons and pve content with.
We could always gather the guilds from both DH and DB willing to team up, and drop down to a low tier server. Leaving both DH and DB.
Commander Solo here, from DH, GoF guild.
I’ve been reading through this thread since Friday, and it really saddens me to see all the flaming, the anger, and the resentment that’s built up. A few nights ago I was talking to my guild leads about how Darkhaven and Dragonbrand would make a perfect 24/7 coverage WvW server. And I still think if we joined in one server, DH’s NA and DB’s Asian/Oceanic would make a great server.
Please try to treat each other with respect. We can be enemies, and fight each other, but it’s still a game, and it’s still respectful to show sportsmanship.
Do you guys even read the Dev’s replies, or just skip to the last page and post your thoughts?
I still have faith in ANet to fix this, the same way they fixed the BLT loot during Halloween. He said it’s going to take time, and I trust they are working around the clock to fix it for us.
And before somebody accuses me of being some PvE noob who doesn’t know what he’s talking about; I run WvW four to five nights of the week, so yes, I do know what I’m talking about and I hate it just as much as everyone else. But there’s no point in continuing to post about it. Pressuring the Dev’s isn’t going to help, it only gets annoying.
Midnight US time on a sunday.
Excuse me, 1 am for most of us (Os Guild lives on the east coast mainly.)
Not night capping. Good show.
Don’t listen to her,
Os is all night crew.
They ride on the shoulders of the irish champions.Oh and, if you are in EB from 3am to 6am. Then you are facing me.
Prepare. Your. Bum-Holio
Are you the Os officer with the t3 cultural armor? I think Guardian? Human male who likes to to run in ahead of his zerg?
Captain Solo here
Great fights tonight in WvW. Dragonbrand going down to Creek, then the fights in the tunnels. Had to leave early, but in the time I was there it was great fun. It would be more fun if DH had a larger nighttime force so we could be more evenly matched, but such is life.
Why not? Is there a negative to doing it?
Likewise
It’s gonna be another fun match for Darkhaven. Good luck to Dragonbrand and Shiverpeaks.
