If you reroll now you will have to get all your traits by the new system. I strongly recommend you read up on that first.

Started playing again recently. Are they all only obtainable via gold now?

EDIT: Read further. Looks like a lot of hassle. Kind of makes me glad I leveled my war and guard, but it also makes me reluctant to go through the hassle because of those challenges.

Been playing my norn guardian in wvw and I can almost swear that my height and stature makes me standout among my smaller teammates, which seems to lead to me getting singled out. Could just be my imagination.

Would it be a good idea to reroll and play a human or asuran guardian?

Razer Naga 2014. Over £50, but worth the price.

Yes, there is a difference to Razer Naga Epic. the 2014’s keys are mechanical, and they’re made from rigid plastic, not some mushy soft plastic stuff that the Epic has. Much faster reaction time, for much faster rotation, and much more DPS.

So Razer finally took a page from Logitech and made their own many-buttoned MMO mouse?

Wonder how they stack up against each other. Mechanical key feedback is always nice…

Sorry can’t recommend another mouse… since the MX510 is the best I’ve ever used lol

I bound Forward to auto run and Back to jump. Let’s me do map exploration while eating a sandwich (seriously). Dodging is bound to Left Shift

I’m actually really curious what uses players have found for additional mouse buttons in this game considering GW2 isn’t inventory heavy

I didn’t think about binding shift, but now that I think about it, I don’t use it too often except when chatting. I’ll probably bind it to weapon switch as I rarely need to ping the map anyway.

I’ve been using my trusty MX510 since at least 2009 with no problems. The only hassle I’ve found is that it could really benefit from at least one extra programmable button. I tend to use the “forward” button near the thumb for push-to-talk and the “back” button near the thumb for dodging.

Any recommendations in the $50 segment would be appreciated!

BL Merchant on top of chest spawn location

Jack.1469

This doesn’t solve the problem, but in the event you encounter this again, you can tab between friendly elements to select the chest and open it that way instead of talking to the NPC on top of it that seems to get priority for interaction. If you do not have any keys bound to tab between friendly elements, you can set keys for this action in your control options area.

Again, I know it does not solve the problem of NPCs getting priority over other interactive elements, but it will help you to be able to loot the chest in the event you encounter this form of possible griefing in the future.

You can also use the tab between friendly elements keys to target individual guild banners in the event that there are several placed directly on top of eachother instead of spaced out.

Do I need to hit “next ally?” How does this work if the chest isn’t an “ally?”

Correct. “Next Ally” and “Previous Ally” cycle through targeting non-enemy elements that are currently on your screen. It seems to regard anything that cannot be attacked as being an “ally”, so interactive objects are included as being allies that can be cycled to as your target.

So the chest is going to come out green I take it? Doesn’t seem to select units with names in yellow text.

I’ll give it a shot later tonight when I get home and report back with results. What I’ll probably do is try this on a chest for a world boss that spawns and dies with plenty of time left before the pre for the next one starts. Might have to wait a couple of minutes for the hordes of players to thin out and give it a shot.

Sorry, I should have mentioned that it does not count other players as being “allies”…
Yeah, figure that one out. You cannot tab target through other players. You will not need to tab through dozens and dozens of players to get to the chest. You can even tilt your camera down so the chest is easier to tab to without some NPCs in the background slowing selection down.

edit
Well, I tried on a zone boss (SB) tonight to make sure it worked…it does not. Boss chests cannot be targeted like other “friendly” elements like guild banners and such. I’m sorry for giving a bit of false hope on a way to get around the griefers dropping NPCs on boss chests.

All good. Tried it on the Shatterer, no dice. It’d be nice if Anet would fix this.

Need overflow server for dungeon PUGs

in Suggestions

Posted by: Jack.1469

Jack.1469

I think this idea should’ve been an option from the start. You should be able to join an overflow of any map whenever you want. This would even eliminate the need for guesting systems if you will.

Sometimes it’s just annoying having no OF to do Fractals or to be able to reach out to a larger player base for certain activities. Also Orr maps with the ability to join an overflow whenever you want would probably mean more uncontested temples and more DEs being done.

Even better. Have an automatic party creation system for dungeons. Person or party opts to log into the system’s UI, system UI groups you with others with common goals, once you have a full party, all parties agree to start, BAM, you get transported to an overflow for that event.

Tough to come up with one for DEs. Personally, I think creating so many separate servers was a bad idea. I think it should have been like GW1 where we would be just grouped by continents.

Constant crashes, need advice

My game has been crashing at least once daily. It seems as though repairing/verifying does absolutely nothing. If someone could examine my crash report, I would appreciate. I’ve read somewhere it may have something to do with GW software not playing nice with ATI cards.

In GW1, if we disconnected or crashed, we could simply resume from where we’d been pre-crash. If our character was killed while we were trying to get back in, it was dead.

I’ve uploaded the crash report:

1 transfer per 7 days, stop hopping

Is it? That explains it. I tried transferring servers just so I could get around this issue.

I REALLY REALLY wish Anet would bring back the feature from GW1 that allowed players whose systems had DC’d or crashed to resume being back in the state they were pre-crash. There’s absolutely no reason people in my position should be punished for a badly coded game. I don’t see how this could be exploited

I’m not the only one who’s finding these crashes to be problematic. It used to crash every 2 hours. Seems to me after all these patches, it crashes maybe once every couple of days.

And I tried walking around the CoE island area again, can’t find any events. This is just ridiculous.

Mystic Forge's chance not nerfed?

RE: This game will fall once dota 2 gets out of beta unless they do something about the economy. Why does the best loot and gold per hour happen where the bots are farming? why does killing dragons and dungeons give next to nothing. Why are the bots allowed to farm for 2 weeks before they get banned. It’s like a deal has been made or something….. This economy best serves bots, exploiters and gold buyers.

That’s what’s been bothering me all along. Fanboys are all so quick to jump aboard the “Defend GW2’s honor at all costs” bandwagon at the slightest criticism when I bring this point up. The drop cap was what started it all. Anet basically handed over the reins of the economy to botters when it instituted the cap. It was probably introduced in the name of controlling inflation. Then they kittened the Mystic Forge. On top of making armor pieces soulbound and so many other measures to curb inflation, Anet seems to have done a really good job of alienating its player base.

So much for trying to control player behavior.

Quite frankly, my assessment of the game in the past 2 hours has soured dramatically.

All be it, there are a lot of unconstructive threads but mods are deleting anything and everything that paints the game in a negative light, regardless of being constructive or from legitimately concerned comments from players that they want to invest time and money into their game.

Dammage control is clearly taking precedent over nearly anything else. That’s NOT a good sign.

You can thank Blizzard for setting such a bad precedent on that front. Before people started leaving in droves, it was censorship galore. I’m sure we can all agree that did NOT help with their image.

you’re relying on your own subjective interpretation of what MMO’ing should be about.

Word of advice: If that’s your issue, MMOs are not for you. You’re playing the wrong game.

Pot kettle much? Please try to follow your own advice.

As for the topic – you seem to be assuming that GW2 is following all the standard staples when their manifesto quite clearly states they do not wish to.

They want players to have fun. Grind, by the commonly accepted definitions, is rarely itself considered fun. As I stated above, there is a difference between actively discouraging grind, and not encouraging it. I firmly believe GW2 takes the right approach in not rewarding grind for grind’s sake when compared to other activities.

The original point (lets’ not lose sight of that) isn’t that though – it’s that players who are grinding are being actively discouraged from doing so. There’s a difference. That is perhaps unfair. It does not mean that a player who does not grind should not achieve the exact same effect by doing something else, but rather that both playstyles should be deemed equal. That is fair, is it not?

Yes, and they took it one step further and discouraged grinding. As you yourself even say (while somewhat contradicting yourself), that puts nongrinders on a higher pedestal. And no, it’s not the pot calling the kettle black when I’m just supporting the idea of keeping ALL playing styles equal.

The arguments stated for discouraging grinding are getting rehashed. They just center around (1) a few players’ jealousy for those who have more hours in the day to spend farming. I love the bit one poster said about it ruining the economy and (2) a subjective dislike of grinding as a justification for neutering drops. Those in the latter group include casual players and those who like the grinders have extra time, but choose to earn money and items via differing means.

But those in the former group still have the option of playing casually as they obvious appear to do so. They can buy gems and cash them in for gold as well.

And if it wasn’t obvious enough, whether grinding is a tried and true method is just one argument for keeping it in the game. I never said that’s the only reason, but it’s a reason nonetheless. Anet obviously didn’t do away with the entire MMO model, otherwise it wouldn’t be an MMO. They’ve ditched certain aspects of the traditional MMO but have largely taken ideas from other games. I really believe getting rid of the timed drop cap is one of these ideas that should be considered and kept for good.
