In my opinion, this game requires too much grind

JackDaniels.1697

To me there are 2 types of grind.

The first grind is the one that has always been in the past mmo’s. Where you have to grind your way to the maximum level (and you know how tedious that can be), and only then can you be really powerful in the game and have some cool looking gear.

The second type of grind is a grind for cosmetics. This one is forgiving because leveling to maximum is very achievable. You only grind for mats that you will need to make your gear look awesome (but to some extent stats, like ascended items), but it’s nothing unreachable, except only for the legendaries that can take a while, but that’s okay because the rest of the game is not like that.

Grind is inevitable in any mmo to be honest, but it’s the type of grind that makes GW2 a good grind imo.

Really? Is that really how I came across? Standing around for an entire 24 hours waiting for someone to rez? Do you think this could have been written a little less abraisively, like as if you were speaking to another human being maybe?

You are completely misinterpreting this, keep your emotions in check please.

Huh. How are you completing kill-variety, gatherer, veteran-slayer, and crafter in a dungeon?

Telling people to go do a dungeon isn’t helpful if that wasn’t in their plans. Telling people to go to zone-X and milk a particular event isn’t helpful either.

There is plenty of kill variety in a dungeon, and that includes a lot of veterans, so idk why you would say that…guess you don’t play dungeons much.

And sure you can’t complete gatherer and crafting in a dungeon but that goes for anything that you are doing in the world, especially crafting. You have to go a seperate way to complete that pretty much.

And Im not telling people that they have to go do a dungeon to finish these tasks, I’m saying that you can get these tasks done in any part of the world, not just one place.

Server transfer cost - a reason to leave

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

JackDaniels.1697

Free server transfers was bad for the game. People jumped servers on a constant basis leaving some servers stagnate if you will.

There was also no real sense of a community on most servers, which is something that is needed I believe to make a player feel like their server matters.

Plus you had a fair amount of warning to switch to the server you wanted before they locked free transfers.

Next time try keeping up with the game that you just bought, that way you know what’s happening to the game, which you could have done by visiting this website.

The “24 hours to get it done” argument is pointless if you only have an hour or two in the day to play.

Oh, and, by the way.. those players without a lot of time to play are the ones the daily achievements were specifically designed around, originally.

That’s funny, because the other day I spent like an hour in a dungeon and completed all but one task in my daily…so yea you can actually do it in one or two hours just playing around. Oh by the way.

You have 24 hours to complete your daily. If you go about yourself doing events and such, you will get it done without even knowing it.

It is your choice to go and stand around waiting to rez someone, so it’s nobody elses fault that you choose to play like that.

So just go about your business and you’ll complete your daily.

LFG FINDER that solves stagnate issue

in Suggestions

JackDaniels.1697

Gw2lfg works great for dungeons but not so much for grouping up for DE’s or any regular event really… though they seem to be making changes and I wouldn’t be surprised to see it become more in depth.

And while gw2lfg is amazing, the game itself needs it ingame imo.

But like you, when it came to dungeons, looking for people was a nightmare, and gw2lfg really made a difference there.

LFG FINDER that solves stagnate issue

in Suggestions

Posted by: JackDaniels.1697

JackDaniels.1697

I know there’s been tons of talk about this but here we go again.

One of the reasons some people don’t want an elaborate LFG finder is because people will simply stay in one map (more than likely LA), simply staring at the lfg window and forget about the rest of the world, which would make it stagnate.

My solution:

What they can do is have an LFG FINDER that you can only see people LFG while in the same map.

So anybody lfg on Malchor’s leap will only be seen by people who are on that map. And you can see specifically the kind of group they are looking for. And the name of that person lfg.

For dungeons specifically you can see people from other servers also.

And to make it known that people are lfg on other maps besides the one you are in, on the lfg finder window there can be a section that says" x amount of peope are lfg in this map" without been specific about what kind of group they are looking for and no names (so they don’t end up whispering and asking them), that way they will have to travel to that map to find out.

Yes people will complain about it and say that they should be able to find a group from just one spot, but if you think about it, it solves the stagnate problem.

P.s. I posted some of this in someone’s elses post in another section but I think this belongs here in the suggestion section.

Any thoughts?

The way Simin heals for a large amount of %, requires you to have a full dps team.

What this means is that if you have a none dps build, then you are of no use for the team. So in turn you are obligated to have another set of gear with dps stats on it. Well go ahead and spend all that gold on it only for a few fights here and there.( I built my engineer from a pve build to a dungeon build, and it works perfectly fine, but it looks like for this one fight I will need a whole new set of everything?… that’s not right.)

There really isn’t any reason why I should have to change my support build to full dps to succeed in this fight (not that I dont have any power) but you shouldn’t be obligated to do so.

This is almost exactly like the holy trinity, without a tank, healer and dd you more than likely will not succeed. So without a full dps team, you more than likely will not succeed.

This goes against everything Anet stands for. They said that ANY type of build can get you through a hard boss battle. But this one fight doesn’t seem to be the case.

The mechanics for this boss are all wrong imo. They need to change the way the fight goes. They need to have a more interactive, coordinated and strategic way of defeating this boss instead of spamming dps on him.

Just my thoughts.

Reporting "Kick player" abuse (fotm/dungeons)

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

JackDaniels.1697

Oh man I can’t believe this is actually happening.

I guess from now on I will only do dungeon runs with my guild or friends. Until they fix this issue PUG’s are just too risky to get in with.

I hope Anet really takes a closer look at this one because this really should not happen.

And those players doing the kicking just to invite their friends so they can get the rewards should have their accounts suspended for griefing.

:(

Fractal kicking is the norm now.

in Fractals, Dungeons & Raids

Posted by: JackDaniels.1697

JackDaniels.1697

What Anet could do to prevent such behavior is any new player that has joined at Jade Maw does not get any rewards or advancement in fract level. They are just simply there to help the group.

Okay let’s give them 1s for their efforts.

Also the system should recognize if the kicked player was deep into fracts and get rewarded for his efforts… either loot rewards or one level increase.

This goes for the other dungeons too.

Because you really can’t prevent some players from been major A$%&*, but they can keep the unfortunate player that got kicked out of the party after been in there for hours on end somewhat happy.

So this, or something along the lines.

Reviving while in combat

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

Posted by: JackDaniels.1697

JackDaniels.1697

Now that they have changed the way dungeons work in that you cannot wp your way back to your team as long as the party is still in combat and you have to rely on your party members to rez you, well, it’s not easily done.

Unless all members go to rez you at the same time, then you’re good, but most often then not it’s one player at a time trying to do it while trying to avoid the enemy. So you could wait a while sometimes waiting for your team to get you back up.

I’m not saying you should get instant rezed but if the rezing speed was increased a little bit, it would help a lot. Npc’s get revived extremely fast but players get revived ridiculousy slow imo.

I know there are runes to help you with this but it’s not much and not a lot of people tend to buid that way.

I think increasing the % speed at which you rez while in combat would help cool a lot heads out there. It would make it more tolerable I think.

(BTW, I like the changed to the dungeons, I’m not complaining, I’m just seen the frustration it would be when someone goes down and has to wait to be reved.)

What is wrong with this patch :

in Guild Wars 2 Discussion

I personally like the variety in dailies now.

Yesterday I had a fun time trying achieve the dodge part. It’s a little hard against 1 mob, but if you put yourself in the middle of a larger mob, dodging becomes a whole lot easier, and faster to complete.

Also the reviving part, if you know where to get yours you won’t have a problem with it. E.g. wvw is the best place for this, because people are always dying there.

So if you know where and when to get them, you’re not gonna have a hard time with it.

I have more to say about the rest but I wanted to point this part out more.

"Representing" is a flawed feature

in Suggestions

Posted by: JackDaniels.1697

JackDaniels.1697

The point is to encourage players to be in multiple communities at once. And in that regard, guilds are working perfectly.

That said, I think they need to set the game up so that players can have separate chat windows for each guild they’re in. Not being able to engage in the discussion when you’re not representing does drag things down a lot.

This is exactly what they need to do!

I belong to 3 guilds and I always find myself switching back and forth to the other guilds to see if something is going on. I tend to stick with the guild that has some activity at the moment, which I guess it’s what you are suppose to do. But it’s an annoyance really to have to do that all the time.

I don’t have a problem representing one guild at a time either, but everytime you do, you miss out on what’s going on (or not) your other guilds. Sometimes it only takes a few minutes for something to happen, e.g. someone setting up a dungeon run and because you were not representing that very moment, well you are gonna miss out.

I know Anet is smart enough to make it so we can have communication with all our guilds at all times. Why make your other guilds practically invisible when you choose not to represent them?! They are still there happening without you.

Unlockable ENDGAME Content

in Suggestions

Posted by: JackDaniels.1697

JackDaniels.1697

So here’s an idea I’ve been having for a while.

I started thinking of all the things you can do to level to 80.. and well all those things we can do to get to 80 we can still do them at 80. There’s tons of stuff, so what’s the problem, right!?

Well that’s just it, there’s nothing really unique in Endgame content for level 80’s, because a level 1 can do pretty much everything they can do. I mean yea sure, they can’t get into dungeons, or wear gear higher than their current level, but he can do everything else almost. And yes a level 80 dungeon is unique to that level only, but my point is that that is pretty much waiting for you once you hit 80.

There needs to be some type of quests that only level 80’s can do. But these are not your regular quests of course, these quests will have a meaning behind them and will take you into more quests around Tyria, and when once you finish them, you will unlock something special, e.g. a secret tunnel that leads into a forgotten civilization. Something of the sort you know.

It’s got to be a progression, so it’s something that you won’t be able to do in a day. And your player can meet up with other players that have completed it aswell.

That’s my idea, and it could be better, or worse eh? But I love the idea of unlocking new content, and not just for there to be a patch where everything is given to you, make us work for it, atleast for endgame stuff.

So what do you guys think? Any other unlockable stuff that comes to mind? Or is this too far fetched?

Although one time events are cool, it’s not when you have no choice in the matter to sit it out. So any achievements and rewards (especially achievements) will surely be missed.

Sometimes I wish these one time events, weren’t so one timish. Just going from the Halloween events, so many of them were so cool that it’s a bummer to see them go just because it was only meant for that period of time. e.g. Clock tower…

Josh, the clock tower was amazing. I struggled big time with it but managed to complete it one time eventually.

If the event was here to stay then it’s fine the way it is, that way people can take their time to complete it when ever they want, but been a limited time event, people are going to rush it and try to complete it asap before it ends, and that creates problems.

It just seemed like this puzzle was catered more for the elite player than the casual player.

But in the end, it was a great puzzle, it really was.

The problem with this event is that there is an achievement and a reward attached to the completion of the tower.
The reward can be bought at the TP from other players who choose to sell them, but the achievement can only be had by actually getting it done.
Achievement junkies defenitely won’t be happy with this. And now they have an empty bar staring at them and never having the chance to get it done again.

The clock tower is fun actually, but since it is a timed puzzle, it makes it incredibly frustrating. The mist is a little too fast for the majority of the players to keep up.

And some people here that keep saying that the tower shouldn’t be patched to make it easier, I agree to an extent. You don’t want to make it to easy but you don’t want to keep it so hard as it is right now.

All they need to do is slow down that mist, because it will make a world of a difference when you’re trying to position yourself for that next jump, that way people are not rushing it and fall over and over again.

9 hours of trying (not consecutive of course) and I’m done. I completey give up this event. It’s a nice jumping puzzle but it has some major flaws.

1. Too many people, you can’t see yourself well especially on crucial jumps
2. The ooze is just too fast for many players who don’t have a good hand to eye coordination (like me)
3. Waiting time is ridiculous. When you are trying it over and over again, it adds up.

Like I said, the puzzle is amazing, but it’s way too hard, and for an achievement junky like myself, I’m sad that I will not be able to get this one.

It’s fun at first, but it slowly starts to get really frustrating.

I just recently put together my little guild hoping it would grow into something wonderful. My main goal was to make it an all around pve guild. But it’s difficult recruiting people and taking them out of their current guilds for this.

So I’m having more luck recruiting people for one aspect of the game, and that is dungeons. Like me, I know people would like to go to a place where they can find a group of common interest. So if you like to do dungeon runs, my guild is for you.

Requirements are:

Represent guild when doing dungeon runs

You can go back to your current guild after you are done. I only ask that you represent my guild when we do a run together. If you want to stay and represent longer, you are welcome to do so.

You can always whisper someone not representing and ask them if they want to game together.

So if you are interested, please let me know.

Unable to join same dungeon instance

It’s been said that they have been having problems with that, and that they are on it.

What I want to know is when you are doing story or explorable mode, if someone needs to go outside for whatever reason, when they try and come back in, does it reset for that person?

I had this happen to me twice. A group of us were deep in the dungeon, and someone had to leave, so we asked our guilds and friends first, when we invited them, they were able to join us in our progress. Unfortunately someone else had to leave and this time we couldn’t find anyone from our friends list or guilds, so I went outside to look for someone, and when I tried to get back in, the dungeon reseted on me. The person I invited was with me inside but we were not in the same dungeon as the others.

So is this the same bug that the devs have been talking about or is it how the system works and that if you get out of the dungeon, it resets on you? And yes, we were all in the same main server.
