I think the mounts in wvw should be different than the ones pof introduced. Maybe take the charr car and make it available to everyone using the ability system, and tweak it so it is mostly a movement mount.

When your mount is running, you don’t really need strafe all that much, you do though when it is not, because it’s at this point were it feels clunky just to try to position yourself to make a jump. It’s just better to get off your mount and position your char instead, then get back on your mount, just not ideal.

Gliding, what a shambles

I agree that when cc’ed when gliding, you should instantly fall, and if it’s to your death, then so be it. But you should still be able to glide while in combat, as it is an escape tactic. So get your cc ready if you see your opponent about to take a leap.

Nope, leave it as it is.

If you can’t change your tactic around an enemy that can glide in it’s territory, then the problem is with you.

But if gliding does get turned off while in combat, then stealth should be too. To be consistent right?!

I’m thinking of a place were it is your server and the servers you are linked with only, plus Eotm is too big for a lobby, plus the enemy server is also there with you. Not my idea for a true lobby, but I guess eotm would be that place right now.

Pvp has one, and if you want to take it a step further, Pve has all cities and L.A. functioning as ones. Oh yeah, Raids have their own lobby too now.

But what would a wvw lobby be like? There’s too many servers, and too many people to be crammed into a single lobby. The mega server would have to be used here of course, but even then, there is one problem, would we really want a lobby were our enemies will be in? Probably not.

A wvw lobby to me has to work as a place were allies can come in and have communication with each other, strategize against their enemies and so on.

So I think a wvw lobby should be an Ally only lobby, were the servers that are linked together for that week, can come into the lobby and mingle with one another.

I know that in the past, our home world was the lobby, but after the mega server was introduced, it is none existent, so that’s why I think it’s time for wvw to get an official lobby for once.

What if WvW was more like Stronghold?

I like the idea, but I was thinking more like instead of rushing the lord right away (which people will try to do if that is the main objective to win the map), the lord wouldn’t be available to get attacked until all keeps and towers have been claimed by the enemy team. And so keeps and towers wouldn’t be available to get taken back by the home server right away as to not stall the enemy so soon from getting to it’s main goal.

This will probably (hopefully) encourage zergs to split up and attack several sites at the same time, leaving no choice for the home team but to split up as well and defend their bases.

Once all sites have been claimed by invaders, they will have their chance at the lord. Meanwhile, a timer would be set until a keep and tower can be re-claimed again by the home team, and it could be sped up a bit by feeding it supplies and such. Keeps and towers should have different timers on them too, as one is easier to take than the other. This way, the enemy will have to seriously take a strategic approach on how to take the lord in a matter of time, and with little stalling from the defending server.

So now you have 2 servers going against 1 server, the home server has no chance right? Well it’s suppose to be harder to defend, plus it’s not the main goal for the home server to occupy ALL sites, but to defend where it’s possible and stall where they can once a site is available to get re-claimed. And after a certain amount of time, if the invaders can’t take the lord, the home team earns massive bonus points and a victory.

And just so it is clear, if it’s not obvious, when the home server re-claims a site, the lord is off limits until the invaders can take it back again.

Good thing this isn’t an official poll huh?

But I’m sorry that I didn’t word my choices better, like someone said, and that I showed too much bias in my options. Sure, I could have made this poll incredibly kittening better, but I was excited and created it on the spot, wanted to see what people thought. And yes, one has to be responsible when posting something, because it will be subject to criticism.

I really thought this would be fun, but some people really seemed bothered by it. Plus some people looked too much into what I said – looking at you CASTLEMANIC – you sure got me figured out.

Choice 1 belongs in choice 3 otherwise it doubles up since it is temp festival content. It is no more or less its own entity than Halloween is

No mmo should sacrifice regular pve updates for festival content. That is just madness.

But because it has a potential for a rich story and it is vastly different than anything GW2 has, is why I think it deserves it’s own line

Poll is notably missing a Living Story Season 4 option.

It would fall under the 4th choice.

So with the last few patches, we’ve been able to collect torn pages around a map/instance and make them into a complete book set. It’s a real nice touch that Anet gave us for those of us who enjoy exploration and care about learning new lore.

The problem I see in the near future is that if Anet continues to give us these collections to find and complete, we are going to be stuck with a lot of book sets in our inventory, or where ever one decides to store them.

My solution to this is perfectly simple, and it’s to make the Durmond Priory Library hold these books for us. So once you have completed a book set, you would go to the DP Library and place the book yourself, in it’s correct location.

It only makes sense I think.

There’s so may things that I want to see happen to this game, but I’m only going to dedicate my thoughts on everything underwater.

Now I know if people had to choose between spending time playing underwater or on land, land would win hands down, and that’s only because playing on land is more fluid, combat movement is better, plus you get to use all your available skills that you have that you can’t use on underwater. For these reasons alone, I think underwater needs to be a completely different experience once you dive into it.

So some improvements I would do are:

Run/walk on water

Swim faster underwater, just like running faster in cities

Shoot up to the surface of the water, kind of like updrafts for gliding, to help get you to the surface faster when you are so far down below

Make the breathing apparatus actually relevant, if you don’t use one, you slowly drown

Add more secret hidden areas/places underwater to discover new anything, from bosses, to lore stuff, etc, etc. Even better, make it a journey to discover and find these things. This is mostly for solo players who want to engage in exploration, and I think we have plenty of those

I can go into the combat system for underwater, but that’s more complicated, and I think small little changes like these would improve underwater exploration better overtime. And of course, all of these would be possible through masteries, even learning how to breath underwater.

I find it funny that some people keep saying that the Desert BL’s are still not wvw ready, like the Alpine BL’s were wvw ready??? Please.

You found a strategy in the Alpine maps that do not work quite as well in the Desert maps. That is all. Now I can agree that navigation was a pain to get around, but trying to suggest to Anet to change the Dbl’s into been more like the Abl’s is absurd.

I guess Anet can open up more paths to make the map more easily to travel from different points and some other good suggestions, but please don’t get rid of all the gimmicks that the map has just because some people don’t care for them. You can adjust them or whatever, but don’t get rid of them completely

Skyhammer – Map feels so much better now. It makes sense that you can fall off the edge while fighting for the Skyhammer itself and not around the entire map. Visibility is a lot cleaner now.

Spirit Watch: I like the changes. The only thing that bugs me still is the whole area around the orb. It is so big, and I feel like it can become a deathmatch battle and people can forget about the nodes because it is so easy to get to the orb.

Alpine BL Back yet?

Crap. I thought I was coming back, but then I got to the part of the patch notes about the time spent on the Desert Borderlands and it killed all the good feelings I had while reading the other WvW updates.
I have not been back here for a while so I did not know about the pending rotations. I will continue to sit out.

The changes to the DBL’s were some good changes. If you actually gave it a try, you would be surprised how different it feels from before the patch. It is unfair to the devs and to yourself to not even step into them and get a second honest opinion.

I’m afraid that when Anet polls again, many will vote for the ABL’s to comeback without ever giving this update a true chance. Anet needs to stick with their guns and not cave in. The Desert Boderlands have improved, they listened to you, and they will continue to get feedback, and if this isn’t proof enough for ya, then I don’t know what to tell you.

I gotta say, I’m not having one bit of fun tagging and running in these events.

I can’t get immersed in the combat because I know that if I stay too long, I won’t have enough stacks when the timer is done and so I won’t be getting enough blooms because of it.

It would be better to simply have the events in specific sections of the map, which players would have to break apart equally (coordinating with commanders), and each group stay at that location only. Stacks should work in that specific location only, if you move to another location, you loose all of your stacks. This way players can actually get immersed in combat and not having to worry about skipping around the map so much.

Edit: Oh and tagging is an issue also when you have a big zerg going for the same mob.

Without Door breakers, you can’t destroy gates.

Without Archers, you can’t destroy… uh… you ca… oh yes, you can’t… I got nothing.

It would make sense that without Archers, Guards cannot be killed, if Guards don’t get killed, Door breakers cannot destroy gates. There is more strategy here if it were to be like this.

Update:

So I just managed to get the achievement. I did the same thing I did in the past, but somehow this time around, it popped for me.

I used a Mesmer – used clones, they stepped in the fire – it took several tries to do so as I was pugging it, so first attempt only or you don’t get it is not valid.

What I always try to do is stay between the fire, right in the middle of the lane, never getting any close to the fire. But what’s funny in this run is that I TWICE came to touching the fire because of some dumb dodges on my part, but never touched it luckily.

So idk, this achievement is just random. You either get it or not it seems.

I’m getting really frustrated with this myself.

I’ve tried this achiev. so many times, and I’ve been very careful not to step in the fire, but for some reason I just won’t get it. I’m doing it on my Mesmer, so my thoughts are that if your clones touch the fire, that would be enough to fail the achiev., but I don’t want to think this is true, because as a Mesmer the only way you are useful to anybody is by having clones to help out.

I guess I can try not having any clones out or just changing professions.

Would scrapping UC in its current state be unlikely? This is Anet we are talking about, they will reconstruct anything if they feel it needs it.

I honestly don’t know how to make UC better, you have a lot of ideas though, that’s a start.

But if it were up to me, I would scrap combat completely and simply make underwater an explorable world with nooks and crannies all over. Every place you wonder to would be filled with lore, with many secrets to uncover. Maybe quest lines that cover the whole underwater map, when once complete, you uncover something special. It could be certain areas require some combat, like a boss, and only the immediate area activates your UC.

Land combat (LC) will always be superior, so UC definitely needs some rework.

I agree with Anet saying that npc’s shouldn’t do heavy damage on players, but they are so face roll that one single player can kill them so easily, making them useless. So npc’s imo should do more when encountering a player.

I think guards should have heavy defensive buffs and pushbacks as they are the defenders. Archers should have immobilize, cripple, blinds and all that good stuff. Door breakers should do massive aoe damage when they die, and this would be the only exception for an npc doing heavy damage to a player.

I think the old Precursors/Legendaries should become account bound just to go along with the new ones that will be coming to the game. And any of them that are currently in the TP should remain there until it is either bought or removed by the owner, and then instantly become account bound when you do so.

The rng aspect to get them should stay but the trade-able method should once and for all be done with imo.

Continued World Boss Issues

I’m going to say that the argument of not touching the Behemoth because it is in a newbie zone is invalid because of the amount of level 80’s that show up for the fight. If it was just newbies that fought it, then it would be ok.

But honestly, most of these so called “World Bosses” are just

Worried about Stronghold

I’m wondering, since in Stronghold you don’t actually need to kill the lord to win the match, because you can win by simply having the most points at the end of 15 minutes, what’s keeping players from just meeting in the middle and battling it out and accumulating the most points and essentially making Stronghold a glorified Team DeathMatch mode.

Maybe winning by points should be removed?

I’m not really known around here, so I’ll just keep it short.

  • I was born in Bolivia, but have spent almost my whole life in South Florida
  • I’m a Sagittarius, and according to the Chinese zodiac, I’m a Rooster (Not that I believe in this, but it’s fun to know).
  • I absolutely love “Face Off”, I think it’s the best reality TV show out there

Stronghold Poll

The solution is easy I think.

Once everybody ready’s up, before selecting which map you want to play on, you select which mode you want to play on first, then you choose the map.

As there is only one map for stronghold and team deathmatch, this doesn’t really matter all that much though.

Do you guys think that there’s a middle ground between ultra hard and easy?

For example, I think we could clean up some of the issues with the Shatterer and just make it a more engaging experience. So rather than spending the entire fight hiding under his right paw he could, say, turn his head and attack that area? :] It doesn’t have to be hard, just a little more involved.

We tried to put in a few changes here and there when we added the new world boss timers. Reactions varied.

Any news concerning a rewamp of the existing world bosses with HoT? :-)

Well in an interview with Colin Johanson, which I can’t remember if it was Richie or Aurora or someone else that asked the specific question if there will be any revamp to the old bosses of Tyria, he said that there are no current plans on it because they feel that going back on old content doesn’t really progress the game, and that players were also interested in new world bosses, so they rather stick to developing new content instead.

I for one want to see new content, and new world bosses with unique mechanics, BUT for god sake, the old world bosses in this game are just painfully bad, they are a joke right now… excluding Teq and TT.

They should at least give us one revamped old world boss per year, I’ll take that if nothing else.

If that’s really what Colin said, it would go against the Living World concept as its core level. New content is def a priority, but revamping old content in line with this is essential for the concept to fully bear out.

I think Shatterer is the one that needs the most work and I don’t see it happening until we start on the road to Kralkatorrik. I don’t even bother going to it anymore, which is sad because the artwork involved in that boss is stunning!

Ahh it was Aurora Peachy who asked him that question. Around 12 minutes she asks him about it.

Love this, but there is just one part that bothers me about this and that is that it is only available in the Maguuma Jungle.

While it is unique to that map, it’s sad because it would have been such an amazing feature if we could glide on the rest of Tyria. With the exception of dungeons and fractals, and you have to be on high altitudes to jump down and start gliding, so you can’t just glide from the ground.

Imagine gliding in Mount Maelstrom’s Hidden Garden! Oh the possibilities…

The Lore journal and portraits are my favorite, and the improved lfg also are very nice.

So odds of Anet taking a serious look at it? Who knows.

But if someone other than an Anet employee can improve upon their design, I would take a look and take notes. After all, we all love this game and want it to be as pretty and workable as ever right?

Yea I got it the other day too, the exact same one. So it’s a good thing Anet put their logo on all their mails recently, if not I would have probably believed for it to be real.

Now what if they figure out how to put the logo on there… that will be a scary situation.

Spirit Watch not Esports?

Why is Spirit Watch not a serious map? I’ve always wondered this. And what can be done to make it part of the ranked rotation? I mean it’s not Skyhammer.

I like the map, but it’s sad to see it not part of the big boys club.

The New Dailies -- Feedback welcome

All I would change about the new dailies is the specific daily win professions in pvp, and tweak it where I can either win as said profession, or kill that same profession, thus giving us another way of completing that daily for people who don’t have that specific profession to play with.

Nit-Picking the LFG

I know the LFG is out of it’s beta phase, but I think it has been out for a while, that there may be some changes it could benefit from.

So from my own experience and usage, I think:

  • “Personal Story” should be moved either to the top, or right behind “Living World”, as the two go hand in hand in a way. Many people tend to post on “Living World” when they need help with their personal story, because hardly anyone looks at the “Personal Story”, and my belief is because the “Personal Story” tab is on the bottom pile and if it were to be moved closer to it’s twin category “Living World”, it would help to navigate better between the two. And it’s also confusing because the new living story is really part of your personal story, or a continuation of it, so it can become confusing in which category to post under.
  • “Fractal of the Mists” 20-39 should be separated to 20-29 and 30-39 to be in consistence with how the rest is categorized. You need a little bit more of agony resist when you get to the 30’s and the fractal instabilities make it a challenge for people only used to the normal fractal levels. So separating them makes sense to me.
  • “PvP” would have to change from “Team and Custom Arena” to “Unranked and Ranked Arena” or “Play and Compete”. I would think.
  • “Living World” may be too broad of a category, as anything can go in here, making it very active, which is good, but it can become very messy as well. {Suggestion} would be to add a “World Bosses” sub tab, like the sub tabs in “Dungeons” etc., so people spamming Teq can go under that tab. There is so much open world content that it can be hard to distinguish all the different posts made. Organizing it some more would go a long way.*

I would also suggest that depending on what game mode you are in, whether it be in pve, pvp or wvw, the relevant category in the LFG should go to the top. So e.g if you are in the pvp lobby, the “PvP” category would shoot straight to the top in the LFG, etc. So basically if you are wvwing, you could care less to see the “Living World” category and you would be more likely to look under “WvW” to look for a party, so opening up the LFG, first thing you would see is the “WvW” tab opened. And maybe this would see people posting under “PvP” and “WvW” more.

These are just some minor tweaks, more of a QoL thing.

[Suggestion] Currencies & The Wallet

Currencies that have no value beyond being used as currencies should never be items that take up inventory space. That means the following should absolutely appear in the wallet:

  • WvW Claim Tickets
  • Geodes
  • Bandit Crests
  • Black Lion Ticket Scraps
  • Bauble
  • Bauble Bubble
  • Queen’s Gauntlet Entrance Ticket

So forth. Obviously, it make sense to split up the Wallet possibly into multiple tabs or something to distinguish between temporary or location-dependent currencies, dungeon currencies, and so forth. I would imagine the division as follows:

  • Basic
    • Coin
    • Gems
    • Karma
    • Transmutation Charges
    • Laurels
  • Specialty
    • Guild Commendations
    • Badges of Honor
    • WvW Claim Ticket
    • Black Lion Ticket Scrap
  • Dungeon
    • Ascalonian Tears
    • Seals of Beetletun
    • Deadly Blooms
    • Manifestos of the Moletariate
    • Flame Legion Charr Carvings
    • Symbols of Koda
    • Knowledge Crystals
    • Shards of Zhaitan
    • Fractal Relics
  • Tyria
    • Geodes
    • Bandit Crests
  • Temporary
    • Bauble
    • Bauble Bubble
    • Queen’s Gauntlet Entrance Tickets

I think this would make the most sense.

I was going to post something similar, but decided just to quote you because it’s almost exactly how I think the wallet should be, and that is to be broken into categories so it feels more organized and not seem all crammed in there.

And it doesn’t matter what type of currency it is, whether it’s permanent or temporary, if it’s something you use to spend to get stuff, then it BELONGS in the wallet.

The wallet was a huge Quality of Life for the game, but it has more room for more quality to be done. So here is me crossing my fingers Anet can improve this even further.
