These are two really great posts in regards to BG’s current situation. I just wanted to acknowledge these constructive posts. Contrast them against posts such as Jedahs’ latest.

The 2 posts you highlighted made no “claims of 2v1”. It was a suggestion to 2v1.

I know it’s more real when you can see it in your face, but this is what separates a the Julius Caeser, Napoleans, etc from the no name frontline captains. Blackgate doesn’t need to be smart to be beat SoS, they just need the numbers. But they would need to be smart to beat JQ. My money is on JQ.

There is a difference between local level tactics and overall grand strategy. You’re talking about local level tactic smart. If you, the enemy, could see how smart we were…..then how smart are we really?

Not that I’ve seen any amazing level of local tactics in Tier 1 at all, from any server including my own. But maybe it’s because I’m living it and don’t see how special Tier 1 is. I something think how advanced I would feel if I suddenly moved to a bottom tier server and compare our tactics with other servers.

SOS plays strategically to win. No matter how many spies, website hacks or anything, you cannot see the grand strategy. Infact, a few of our amazing strategists like Kurthos [Work], NexusMav [ATac], Coron [Tsym], and Amarathy [MERC] openly share SOS tactics with everyone on these forums. We let you know what we do and how we do it so that the level of play is constantly pushed to a new horizon.

We don’t worry about losing our tactical advantage it doesn’t touch on our core strategy.

Video game or not, we are an organization and the actions of key people such as officers and organization approved commanders affect a lot of members. Officer status is not just for ego stroking. You are in a leadership position because you need to serve your members and drive the organization and the server forward.

Applying for a leave of absence is just being responsible towards your organization, guild members and server. Leaders take extra efforts and responsibilities so that our members can enjoy a casual yet amazing WvW experience. Those who wish to rise to the challenge of leadership are carefully chosen and informed of their duties so that they can make an informed decision before doing so.

Being lazy, procrastinating, or irresponsible just because it’s a game is a reflection on a person’s character, not just in a video game. In which case, they should not attempt at leadership anywhere, until they have reached a certain level of maturity. I myself have not attempted to run a guild for the last 10 years of my MMO gaming life, until now, because I knew I was not ready in terms of maturity and experience.

I may only play for 2 hours a day nowadays, but I make sure that every second of those 2 hours are productive and drive the organization forward while solidifying it’s foundation for the sake of our guild and server.

SoS does talk an extreme amount of smack after losing by 70kish points last week.

What other server tells the other they shouldn’t be in T1 after just losing to them…(and only on 2.5 days out of a 7 day struggle.)

On a side note the real wvw struggle between the oldest GW2 enemies JQ/SBI is coming to an end this week after a long and bloody struggle. Good fights SBI, good luck in T2. I shall stab you more when you return.

MERC posted that we were going to stop playing during holidays, it was practically a compulsory event for everyone in MERC to attend family events.

So again, we congratulate JQ for winning because you certainly did put in the extra effort. But this “if we win its cause they suck, if they win is because of some supernatural event let’s flame them” really sickens me.

Dear MERC Members

It’s that time of year again and I am here to bring along some Christmas cheer! Hohoho!

Sea of Sorrows, our server, our home, has been world champions of WvW for 5 weeks in a row now. This is longer than any server has ever held the #1 position. Our Legacy is secure. Our 2012 goal has been attained. Now we need to seek new challenges in 2013 and our renewed mission is clear:

MERC will become the #1 guild of choice for all players seeking high tier competitive WvW in the Oceanic time zone.

In the past month, MERC officers and members have taken our new reformed management structure and absolutely ran away with it. The results surprised even myself.

MERC has over 1100 unique active members across 3 guilds, with at least 150 members online at all times.
MERC has between 20% to 60% members active in WvW at all times.
MERC officers were able to recruit 500 unique active WvW members within a period of 10 days.
MERC now has 24/7 fully active WvW members, hungry to do battle.
MERC now has at least 3 commanders to be available in each of the 3 major time zones: North American, Oceanic and European.
MERC successfully survived the Mayan end of the world and will continue battling the hidden illuminati overlords to protect the world!

MERC values strong, loyal and committed members. However, we believe that for the long term sustainability of our guild, our members should also be encouraged to have stable and balanced lifestyles and strong bonds to their friends and families in real life. Only through treasuring those we love, can we draw the strength to fight during the hardest of times.

In the coming week, the leave applications of many commanders, officers and players in the guild have already been authorized. In fact, we encourage it as an organization of responsible and mature gamers. So in the coming week of Christmas and New Year celebrations, MERC encourages all players of WvW to cool off from the blood daily battles. Christmas and New Year is a time we should all step back from our hectic battles and spend quality time with our loved ones so that we can reflect on and treasure those whom we love and have been fighting for so hard in life.

To be honest, we’re in Tier 1.

All your siege should be superior and I never siege a door without at least 2 guild golems.

Nothing is a waste. We’re supposed to be the epitome of hardcore WvW. Money should be of no concern.

I wasn’t there, but if Amity only used so little siege to take your garrison, I will need to investigate into his embezzlement of guild funds.

Jade Quarry is getting tired of some of the blood in T1. Tonight was a turning point where several times throughout the night we found SoS and SBI setting up shop together and simply…. 2v1ing.

You can call me a JQQer all you want, but the fact remains, when you run into a supply camp and find 2 opposing servers waiting for you with arrow carts and ballista’s…..and NOT attacking each other….something is wrong. Something is even worse when situations like this become commonplace on all 4 BG’s throughout the night.

So, this being said, I desperately hope Blackgate makes it to T1 and turns it into a 3 way fight again.

What I’m wondering is…..Do any SoS or other JQ’s feel the same way? Different? Or am I just paranoid because it’s 1 in the morning and I really just need sleep?

Is there an SoS/SBI alliance? I know it wouldnt be 100% but i was VERY disturbed to come to several points (especially supply camps) where both SoS AND SBI where set up with siege, all though not attacking each other, simply waiting for JQ. And by set up with siege I mean SoS and SBI set up with Ballistas and Arrow Carts just a few feet from each other.

Instances of this happened multiple times on JQ, EB, and SBI, and though I didnt play on SoS today, I was told it happened there too.

There were also instances of SoS coming to defend an SBI owned tower and then leaving as soon as JQ’s force was wiped.

If you’re really T1 material, you dont need to team up to take us out

If you’re going to throw around accusations like that at least be smart enough to take a screenshot. Otherwise it sounds like complete rubbish and I play on SoS and have never seen this.

x 604,800 seconds in a week which you noticed a 2v1 situation at a single point in time.

Someone work out the probably of a 2v1 situation at any second, it’s pretty big I think.

anyways, given that you are not online 24/7 and on all 4 maps a the same time, you are only judging what is happening at a single point in time.

Disclaimer: This has nothing to do with skill, its all about who gets to PvDoor the most.

As guild leaders, I think we all need to think about our situation and make the right moves. The WvW scene is failing, yes apparently there is a patch coming but it will not solve our problem and that is “our efforts are all in vain if the enemy has even one EU guild to wipe all our upgrades and advancements within 1 hour and hold it for the next 5 hours.”

Personally, I believe only by consolidation into a single server can we hold enough numbers to continue to be competitive yet not force our members to play an obscene amount of hours to stay competitive. They will simply quit the game due to stress, there are so many options out there. Let’s not kid ourselves, it has happened.

You say the game is stale, culling blah blah blah. I don’t think that is the reason people are quitting WvW.

Optimal situation:
Players play WvW for 2 hours a day, can log off without losing everything. Decide to play even longer because its fun.

Current Sitaution
Players play WvW for 8 hours a day, cannot log off due to peer pressure. If log off, lose everything. Decide to quit to not put up with it.

Not sure why SoS gave up so early. Even at our worst moments JQ still fought hard to keep above the 150 PPT line.

And yes we had to start from scratch many many many times in previous weeks. Not so much this week, but it has more to do with our increase in coverage than WM leaving. Bring WM back and we’ll try it out and see.

Oh oh, I have a good fake excuse for this one. We were winning by 10k points on Dec 31 but when we woke up on Jan 1st all hung over, we were already losing by 30k. So we just gave up. We’re just playing smart!

No no I kid, the truth is we hacked, we spied, we stole orbs, we made golems fly, we sabotaged community websites, infiltrated VoIP, sent loads of gold to your leaders to get them banned. And in the end, we STILL lost cause we are THAT bad.

Merging the servers does not solve the issues discussed in this thread, and brings its own set of problems.

For one, it will not stop people from playing too much! Adding more coverage doesn’t negate the ability to push. There are stronger guilds, stronger alliances, stronger players. The desire to come to the rescue when you find your server getting knocked back on its heels won’t go away just because there are a few more people around to help.

Second, if it’s not the lack of people, then surely it will be too many people, and the queue is what prevented you from stopping the comeback! The only way to really be sure no one “night caps” you is to make sure you have a queue on all maps 24/7. But what happens when you’re losing your Garrison, but your guild can’t get in because the map is full? Does ANet have magic to make sure all maps are at 100% population, but never over?

At the moment its just all empty boarderlands. I’m talking about the situation with tier 1 for the past 5 weeks

I think merging EU/US populations is a good idea and would remove the problems with “nightcapping”, but Jedahs, I’m concerned for you health.

Please, try to take a step back: this is a game and in games you sometime lose (I know it sucks! I hate it too) and the community can’t (and shouldn’t) hold YOU or your officers responsible for it.

I have a new view on this. In order to make WvW work again, we should simply move all WvW guilds to the top 6 servers.

That way, there would actually be people playing. Even in tier 1, at least 2 boarderlands is constantly empty.

I’m surprised you guys are still attacking us so hard so late in the game. But I can see your troubles without WM numbers.

Your push on SOS BL was impressive, but you lacked numbers to defend your own BL and we took Garrison and Hills with 10 people…. it was pure PvDoor.

Give it up JQ nightcrew. We faced your last minute comeback attack before, tonight we have downloaded a few movies and prepared the pop corn while we defend the hell outta our assets. Sleep is not permitted is MERC.

Must have spent like 20g on defensive siege tonight.

I was pleasantly surprised myself. I thought we only knew how to zerg, looks like we are okay at defense too.

Social connotations of “zerg” make a negative thing, but in reality, we all know zerging is probably the best tactic in war.

Note that WvW is a 24/7 non stop affair. A player can play high level tactics for say 2-3 hours, on the ball, highly attentive, pro skills and will be completely burnt out.

Meanwhile, anyone can zerg mindlessly for 12 hours a day.

In the end, guess who wins.
