Yeh it does seem way off compared to other methods. I was able to finally buy my first piece the other day.. 1300 kills later. I have obviously missed a few bags but what I have noticed is that it only matters if you get a few hits in on a downed opponent… That is just silly.
I think they just need to give tokens out for other wvw things… Completing events like capture and defence a definite, and maybe even a random token now and then for helping to build siege or resing someone.

They are some great suggestions and I am surprised no one else has posted a reply, I guess they’re all to busy flaming eachother in post about night capping, population disparity, and pvp puzzles.
These suggestions would all work in a way and I would love Anet to atleast try these out now and then, maybe not all at once but at least look into it.
Reseting while probably a highly contested point due to presenting people’s siege placements and keep upgrades may prove a good incentive to get more people involved during the week and when/if they turn to fortnightly matches a reset on the weekend in the middle would be awesome. I think for now the orb randomly presenting would help to get people more interested in long term participation.
Another idea I think may is hiding the scores until its maybe a day out. There is nothing more demoralising then be so far behind points wise that no matter how hard you try you’ll never win. It would also serve to make those closer matchups even more heavily contested.

In all seriousness the situation is entirely on the server underperforming, each server easily has the numbers available to through into WvW… Maybe not for all timezones but at least for most. Man up about it, your server has just given up… You were doing so well during that first weekend and were fighting hard, you were even infront but for some reason most people just stopped.
Running around in the borderlands last night (aussie night) it was a very rare sight to see anyone from CD, and it is times like these were it would have been nice to have a second server to at least form a front against the ET hoard. I can understand your point about gold and siege but that is were us oceanics are as well, everything we do will probably be gone after we log but we try anyway.
If you don’t try then your complaints are meaningless.

It makes no sense to make this a neutral area since the rewards are fundamentally tied to wvw and pvp… If your just after gear there are many other jumping puzzles out there.
I personally love the jumping puzzles as they are a great place to get some pvp on. It also holds a very strategic advantage if your team can hold of others and maybe even annoy them enough to not bother as that is less siege in the enemies hands.

Dear Arenanet
I just wanted to say how utterley upset I was that you reversed your decision regarding account wide dye collections. Yes, there are definitely some other far more important things right now and such a silly reason to be upset can be chalked up to first world problems but I still urge you to reconsider
The decision baffles me as it serves no reason but to restrict diversity and player choice, in a sense it only adds a conflated grind or money sink to the mix. I applaud you on such an amazing and diverse gear customisation system that quite obviously has been a labour of love for Kristen Perry but I now see it as mostly going to waste. I initially read her blog with amazement and gained a great sense of entuasiasm at the huge range of available colours. Then during the betas the only word I could exhibit regarding the system was a Squee. It allowed so much customisation as well as diversity in appearance and had a system that seemed very intuitive… So many great colours and combinations that would always be mine. I loved styling how I wanted, how I wished, and with which character I chose but now I’m left feeling rather flat.
I considered myself at times to be a connoisseur of colour, mixing and matching many combinations for hours (quite literally) just to find the right feel for my particular mood. I had initially decided to collect every dye in the game as a sort of long term goal, a collection I would use extensively in play but know I get the feeling of why even bother. The many I have collected, the few favourites I have purchased become useless just by doing the simple act of switching to an alt.
To me, this change and the transmutation system seem more about chasing the cash shop dollar then actually promoting any sort of long term appeal. Customisation can serve as much as a big long term appeal as gear grinding, an appeal Arenanet originally claimed to support.
So Anet, please reconsider this change for the enjoyment of those whom enjoy alting, to those that live for customisation, and for those that enjoy seeing a diverse game world.

I really agree with this as the current system is very flawed. I personally like the achievements idea with maybe daily and fortnightly achieves (fortnightly as that is the length of the eventual match ups) for doing a variety of reasons.
Other reasons bar damage need to be rewarded as well, such as buffing, shielding, healing, combo created, control conditions (snare, daze etc..)… Stuff like that but then it is not just this that is flawed but the whole general event reward system.
And oh my god yes to automatic loot… It should just pile up into a seperate area… And a little click to colect somewhere on the screen.

The one thing I think Anet could have done way better is explore this sense of diversity.. Yes there are plenty of kitten themes but they are mainly left unexplored. Have other races question the choice, people vilified and accepted, getting through the differences and working together.
Promote discussion surrounding this unique aspect.. (I also think they should explore the religious themes a little more as well)

yeh its definitely has some terrible implementation right now. M
- sharks control the flow of the match too much. Reduce damage and add a control mechanic such as a cripple. It also makes no sense that your invulnerable to them when on the surface of the water.
- Underwater skills are the least balanced
- Traiting is usually done for on land combat, just as your weapons and utilities swap so should these.
- large number of utilities blocked out, there should be underwater replacements otherwise it is far less diverse
- Finishing mechanic needed urgently
- underwater skills available on the surface of the water.

If your going a power build for WvW you want wells.. great for defense
Add chill to blind, drop Darkness, corruption and that other one on the siege and melee, follow up with marks and they absolutely melt. If I’m defending and they drop a ram blueprint I can pretty much melt it immediately. We have the best burst aoe right now, although it is a relatively small area. It is also very gimmicky and the smart people will dodge out but useful nonetheless.
Personally I run staff and Axe.. axe mainly for the retaliation, paired with ds retaliation means some large uptime.

I really would like this… not actually wearing the gear as in for the stats but being able to transmute it over the top of another piece. It would have been so much easier to just have a wardrobe function.

My god it is bad.. and even worse when your trying to attack a moving player.
Damage from both weapons is mediocre at best and everything in DS is just plain bad compared to its dry land counterpart, as someone else said why cant we just have the normal skills during underwater combat.
And so many utilities not usable underwater.
The worst thing about gw2 for me and my necro right now is underwater combat, which is a shame as the underwater environments are so amazing

It is your natural pusher type spec becasue of the extra life bar (love the retaliation then too, and the condition control is very useful. I just love dumping my wells on the unfortunate souls trying to build a ram when I’m defending, always funny seeing them melt and worthy of my evil cackle.
Definitely needs work for sPvP though, just fixing all the broken mechanics and traits would be a start, and making other builds/ weapon sets at least comparable to a condition damage spec.
As for death shroud I think it is a rather nifty mechanic that makes the class unique. It is hard to balance around but they are on the right track, op to underpowered although they are definitely still working on the right numbers. The probably have some formulae that determines the survivability to damage ration and it is a work in progress at this stage.
Stay patient it has only been a couple of weeks since the masses broke into the inner sanctum

Here is a build i have been using lately.. mostly spvp.
It is rather fun to use as you are rather tanky and the damage is average. You have a lot of speed inherent in the build, good for getting in and out of a fight. The key is swapping in and out of death shroud for the retaliation as well as keeping up a few stacks of might. Although it really isnt a pure dagger build as I switch weapons a lot
For those going the life steal type specs you might wan to try something else, it is very mediocre right now with some traitsare not working properly and the returns are rather pathetic. Something like 30 health from each well tick. And you know that life transfer signet, the 50% on life steals actually makes this perform worse ><

An absolutely perfect idea and it is incredible the game has neglected the basic guild functions like this. At the moment with the rather limited functionality the commander book just isn’t worth the investment
We typically run around 15 people which would be perfect for a system like this.. at the moment it is just relying on vent

Hey all
I just thought I would promote my lovely blog thingy focusing on all things to do with PvP, I love it so much. What a girl who likes mmo pvp you say.. Blasphemy.. oh you will be mainly focusing on support type roles.. well that’s probably ok then.
Although WvW at the moment and SPvP in the near future will be my main focus I will also have pixelated story romps to discuss as well as general game related musings. At the moment I’m playing Mesmer and Necro with aspirations for many other alts, I take plenty of pictures (too many in fact) and will try to update with some video as well but my editing still needs work.
I will also be following up with the occasional TSW related piece and non mmo cool things
