So assuming sword/horn and GS the ranger could potentially keep up with theif/warrior using Gs#3 and sword#2? That’s pretty awesome actually

I suppose I was just kind of assuming Perma swiftness, I guess what I’m really getting at is the leaps/teleports of other classes. Basically I’m thinking of making a “scout” type build with my ranger for wvw.. And I wanted to know who was going to be able to catch me haha

I never said it was the most mobile class, I did however say it was more mobile than my Guardian and my Mesmer. Every class can achieve perma-swift ( I think ) its just a matter of how much you want to give up in order to get it. So so far the tier list would be something like

Warrior
Theif
Ranger, Engie
Necro
Mesmer
Guardian

sound about right?

edit. Where does ele fit?

Anyone know the actual tier list for out of combat mobility? Im curious to know where ranger sits, as I only have a mes, guard and ranger, and ranger is clearly much faster than my mes or guard.

I wasn’t saying I wanted a build ‘better’ than the mesmer build, I just wanted something where I could feel useful in wvw lol

Hey guys I’ve been trying to show my ranger some love! I main a Mes and I love roaming around in wvw. Though I tried coming up with my own ranger build and it falls very very short of my mesmer. (PU condi build) So what build would you guys recommend for a ranger that likes to roam around capping ruins and supply, that can have a good chance in a 1v1 or 2v2 situations that are so common there? I was thinking about the regen ranger but wasn’t sure. Currently I’m running the max damage build and staying back lines of the Zerg but that is god awfully boring. Help me out ranjas!

I was trying to think of one that’s pretty long but also pretty hard. The only one I keep coming up with is Aetherblade

Pretty nifty idea! Though once you know the path for Griffin Rook run it’s actually really easy. The race would be over in less than a minute or two!

I figured. Does the phanty mesmer do as well in small skirmishes as black water? I generally run with 2-5 people. If it performs just as well.. I may switch over for a while

I have been running blackwater for a while now in wvw, and the only class that I know for a fact I never ever win is against another phantasm/burst mesmer. And the stunlock war gets me if I miss my dodges. But how the hell do you beat a bursty phantasm mesmer? As soon as I run out of my tricks they burst me down in like 3-4 seconds

Reading this made me realize just how terrifying it would be to fight a Mesmer.

Hey guys I main a mesmer and post periodically there, I’d like to think I have a good grasp of game mechanics and definitely mesmer mechanics at this point even though compared to most of you I’m still pretty new. I see a ton of QQ on every forum I go to (except mesmer) but most of it derives from pvp situations.. So anyway I’ve been leveling an ele alt and I’m loving it right now, though I do feel like I’m not killing things as fast as my guard, I don’t think it’s too terribly slow either? So my question for the ele forum is this, how are else at end game content? I do a lot of dungeons on my mes and I’d like to think I could on the ele too, but if I have to run around with a Lh and Fgs 24/7.. Then I might as well not run an ele you know? Just completely takes out the class mechanic

Oh I love my phanty mes don’t get me wrong. But I also love leveling characters in this game for whatever reason, and instead if continuing to get classes to lv30 and stopping imma go ahead and get one to 80. Just figured id ask people that are more knowledgable than me about em. I have an asura ele and a charr war, how very typical of me. Colesy I was thinking ele or war. I know wars come off as mindless, but in my 3-4 months of running dungeons it’s blatantly obvious if a war is good or bad. But if it’s mindless I feel like it’ll be boring to play.

Hey guys I’ve been playing my mes a ton, set full seeker everything. I only have an 80 ranger an 80 mes so I don’t exactly have a ton to go off of, but it seems like my Mesmer hits bosses HARD. Now I know colesy will flame me for using great sword, but I use gs s/f most of the time, if I don’t need reflects I go s/p. I bought volcanus before I found out that s/s was better ha. Anyway when I have 2-3 phantasms up and hitting with sword auto attack I feel like I am hitting really really hard. How are other classes dps compared to this? The reason why is I’m going to roll an alt, and I’ve recently discovered that I like big numbers, a lot (:

Hiya, I zerked out my Mesmer and bought the focus “Adam” well I added a sup sigil of battle to get the 3 stacks of might on weapon swap buttt I never see the said might stacks :/ whys??

How do you prevent people from running =/ if they stay and fight I generally dont have problems but geez, the theif and ele roamers just peace out lol. Can’t catchem

Okay so I spent a good chunk of change and made the build, roamed around wvw for a little while had a few nice encounters 1v1 but everytime I got hit with a bigger group me and my buddy went down. Had a 1v1 vs a regen ranger and neither one of us could kill each other so I decided to go to pvp and duel some people. Had no problems with 2 eles, 1 war and 1 theif. Then there was a regen ranger, a phantasm mes, and some type of theif idk and they all just shredded me. How on earth do you kill someone with all that regen/condi cleanse?

Oh and I just bought volcanus.. so please tell me its good for map clearing :X

I have been trying a lot of builds here lately and though I am not as experienced as you guys are, so far the easiest method for zone clearing (map completion) is GS S/F. I generally only use sword/focus for the swiftness and then I suppose I use it for veterans and if a champ event spawns or something. I trait mantras and Gs with as many " + X% damage" boosts as I can get and trash mobs usually die with a single GS2→dodge→f1. GS is the fastest weap for zone clearing isn’t it? or am I just missing something. I fully understand that sword does way more deeps but hell, I usually never in melee range unless its a vet or higher.

I had the ogre ones in the bank for something and noticed the +4% damage. and seen that when I got hit I could summon a rock dog lol. I wasn’t using them and I dont think they are worth that much so I just through them on there. I wish traveler runes werent so expensive

Well for dungeons I trait to boost phantasm damage not mine, im just curious about a version of the mantra builds for getting map completion. I am doing a tremendous amount of damage with my shatters right now, but Im not sure if I have too many % increases, like if there is a point where it caps, I could use other things instead ya know?

At what point does it not help anymore? I was just messing around and found that just for map clearing I could get—- although they may not stack this way—
+4% damage from superior runes of the ogre
+5% damage from sigil of force
+16% damage from empowering mantras
+9% assuming I have 3 clones from Compounding power
and then +20% on mindwrack from Mental Torment
… if it adds up that way.. thats a base increase of +54% damage on my mindwrack, I count as a clone, so thats x4 clones.. +10% crit chance on the mindwrack puts me at 74% crit chance, and I have an 81% crit damage bonus. If it adds this way it seems to be grossly overpowered so what am I missing here??

Haha I already have a Sylvari necro named Jarad :P but I love lilly so had to make one. Was gonna make a male named Jace but meh. The females look better. Assuming I go with the vision of the mist, what else should I do to my armor??? I feel like it could look better

Ahh I wish they could use GS! I wish mes could use Entropy lol. Well if I am sticking with purple.. what else can I do to that armor?? I’ve hit a dead end and that toon is only lv 60 lol

Ohkay fellow mesmers I am at a fork in the road. Do I keep the mes image? or do I just go to red and black fiery mean-ness. Oh and as for the purple armor I dont like those shoulders.. but I cant find a replacement =/ I would love to make a female ele with the same armor/volcanus but eles dont get greatswords! Any feedback at all would be appreciated before I go spending a lot of moniezz

Its kind of silly and retaliation and confusion should just be removed from the game, friggin hate stuff that forces people NOT to fight. Cant honestly see the fun in it..

also, if traited, and no guard in party you think signet of stone is worth bringing into a dungeon? I usually run with RaO , Quickening Zephyr, Frost spirit and lightning reflexes

Thanks guys, yeah I haven’t tried to run a GS in a dungeon setting yet. I usually go sword/horn and longbow. But with the zerker gear there isn’t much room for error on the evades.

What are you guys running for dungeons? Currently running Zerker gear with traited frost spirit but I feel kinda squishy.
