hahah venom share with TG is just meaaaan X just meaaan lol
It wasn’t that the burst was ‘THAT’ impressive, it was just I was taken by surprise at the amount of damage it was dishing out, and the amount of damage it was taking. The engi and ele were destroying me on S/P theif and a Hambow war every time at home node. Granted my team is all level 30-40 and the entire team we were playing against was 50+ , they had their synergy down pat for sure
I played a high level team in tpvp last night (all 50+) and there was an S/F ele running around generally staying pretty close to either an Engi or a War. Engi looked to be pretty tanky maybe some sort of decap variant but with him and the ele together they were getting 25 might consistently, at which point they hit like trucks.
So I am curious as to what s/f build was this? He was tanky enough to survive but even with low (6-9 Might) he was still hitting pretty good, he was like a tanky fresh air variant, was he just the normal fresh air burst with soldiers ammy?
There is no way that theif was hitting that kitten CnD without food buffs/wvw buffs/might stacks. It’s clearly a l2p issue as well, I have 0 issues 1v1 roaming with my engi doesnt really matter the class and I am far from a good engi. I think you just got caught off balance by a Signet burst theif tbh, which is fine.. it happens from time to time but thats no reason to cry teefopnerfplox. Wvw is a game mode, that thrives on either giant zergballs with strength in numbers, small organized groups, or roamers. Roamers either go tanky, or they go glassy and hit hard and get away.. that just so happens to be the ONLY niche that a theif can fulfill in this game right now. It’s not hard to constantly keep your head on a swivel, you should be able to see the theif coming and if he is popping sigs and gaining might you better prepare for insane dmg inc, survive for 5-8 seconds and you are golden.
Might as well shoot me a pm as well!
no problem man! If you have any questions at all add me in game, Elandorr Nyhtt , I am happy to help a fellow theify
S/d is part of the meta in spvp now. go 10/30/0/0/30.
Mug (III)
Furious Retaliation (I), Practiced Tolerance (VI) , Executioner (XI I think)
Thrill of the Crime (V), Bountiful theft (VII), and Sleight of Hand (XII)
Boon steals ftw. I generally take Shadowstep, blindingpowder, refuge for utils.. can’t go wrong with blinding powder ever. Lyssa runes + basivenom is amazing. With the trickery line everytime you steal on a point you are granting 10s of Vigor, Swiftness, and Might + whatever 2 boons you just stole from your target every 21s.
You run engi and you complain about theif? I am confused.
I would MUCH rather have an average decap engi on my team than an average theif.
edit: It just clicked in my head that you run Ele as well, so yes when a theif jumps you, he is going to hit you hard. That’s his job. Your job, is to see that theif, and prevent that jump via positioning, utils, cc, whatever the case may be. Just because theif X is better than ele Y at doing his job, doesn’t make him OP. I am on my phone so I am not sure if that came out right, not trying to be rude or anything just stating my opinions

I changed the map once, and now I can’t change it again? why?
Glassy you say? 4signet burst is as glassy as you can get. You engage with around 4500 attack. One shot or die
Run a P/D S/D build, swap out some pieces / trinkets for dire/rabid/settler whatever floats your boat for whatever stats you are looking for. The trade off from zerk/valk to ramp/x is crit damage for condi damage. With wvw buffs, food and stacks you should be able to get around 2100 power and 1800 condi damage, which is pretty potent with P/D.
OP would a mix of rampagers/rabid/dire not work better? Dropping the crit damage but picking up significant condi damage? Was playing around with it in the editor and 2-3k sneak attacks should still be doable and slapping on those bleeds and torment with 1500ish condi damage seems just mean lol. Just curious is all (: I have been running this in full zerk/valk trinkets and it’s so fun lol
Asking me if I want to allow it to make changes to the hardware on my computer, I have already tried running as admin, I have the entire folder set to full permission, same as the ssd itself, this JUST started happening today and I have been playing for 7-8 months. haylp.
Oh and I was getting my kitten handed to me
Will do. I was running something very similar actually but using zerk/valk. I completely forgot knights existed.
Someone has to have come up with something semi viable to roam around with., come on.. Tell me (:
Heya I have been running different variations of the BM bunkers for months and months. Just discovered dreamthistle longbow skin and I freakin love it, so I bought it on impulse and then I remembered lb is meh.
So I am coming to you guys for haylp! lb + x/x roaming build, power based, what should my baseline traits look like?
Will do! Thanks !
Thanks for that! I don’t have time to read the entire thing now, I am on campus, but I just skimmed through and seen it was just ‘general’ information, which I would like to think that I have down pretty well. I am looking more for someone to talk to about in depth team compositions (builds) not just 1 of X class roaming, 1 of X class bunking, 1 of X class far point assault blah blah. I am interested in specific openers on specific maps, how to make efficient synergy with team fighters/bunks at mid and what not. If that makes more sense?
I think having some sort of requirement for joining tPvp or Solo queues would be great. I know I hate getting new players in my solo q matches. I never tPvp with less than a team of 5 because of the random newb pugs.
Also, I feel preloading skills and armor on a first timer who enters the mist is a bad idea.
Instead when someone first enters the mist all their skills are blank, as well as weapons and armor and provide them with an introductory quest.
The introductory quest
– Purchase a weapon from the Weaponsmith
– Purchase a sigil from the Weaponsmith
– Equip the Sigil
– Purchase starter armor from the Armorsmith
– Purchase Runes from the Armorsmith
– Equip 6 Runes
– Purchase an Accessory from the Accessory guy (forgot his name)
– Equip 5 Utility Skills
– Set your traits
– Visit the Hotjoin guy and play your first matchI know it seems kinda long but I think it will help out a ton of new players.
This is perfect, the little introductory thing when you first enter the mists is too short, and is skippable. If players were required to do this it would at least give them a good layout of where everything is in the mists
Heya guys, I have been pvping on and off for a while now, I generally favor wvw small group roaming/trolling but as I have gotten better I am starting to enjoy pvp more and more. I would say I am above average when it comes to solo que, generally scoring top on my team unless I am bunking, and have gathered (what I think to be) a good understanding of team comps and what should be done and when. I finally have found a pretty competent group of guildies that want to play regularly, and they look to me and one other to come up with actual strategies and team compositions, while we are doing fine I would say, I still feel like we could be doing much better and the teams we come up with just seem to be average over all or perform extremely well vs some teams and extremely poorly vs others. I know that is sort of the nature for pvp but we are looking for a bit of balance between the two hah. Anyway could someone who knows their stuff post their in game name here? or pm me at “Liliana Ossa” in game, I have a pretty good amount of questions so only contact me if you are actually interested in helping out, thanks a ton!
tl;dr : I need to talk to a veteran pvp’er to pick your brain about strategies/ team composition
Ign is ‘sweet sweet jive’ I don’t own a warrior, no need to get your panties in a wad. Well I didn’t know it was ‘easily achievable’. excuse the hell out of me I suppose for not knowing. And of course warriors are op.. but I play mes.. so I am op as well I can’t really point fingers.
How’d he get crit dmg so high?
woah woah, like I said I don’t play warrior, this dude was bragging about warrior stats in TA with me earlier so thats why I posted it here trying to see how these stats were possible. I’ve no idea how much % the banner does or which banner it is for that matter.
Am I wrong? Is this not high? Have I been doing it wrong for the last year on all my other classes lol
Now I don’t play a warrior.. I main a Mesmer so I generally don’t have problems with most warriors just cause mesmers tend to hard counters wars but.. I do have 4 other 80s one being a guardian..and I can’t get anywhere near these stats on my guard.. am I missing something here or are these stats through the roof?
edit: yes I see the Banner, and the food, but even still.. 3100 att with 3700 armor 75% crit chance anddd 130% crit damage?
(edited by Jhughes.8341)
ahh I see I see. so you are just running s/p and snagging all the steal traits.. yeah in pvp I take a ton of the steal traits as well. I really miss hidden killer but since im not going down that line xD. Daze on steal is nasty, and yes that combo carries you super far! Try throwing in Infil Sig to go even farther :P I will give your build a try! Thanks a ton
Hey vet theifies out there, I main a mes and I have just been getting into my theif. D/P is fun in pvp and what not but I leveled my theif from 1-70 through pvp and now I am tired of D/P xD. Plus all that stealth and what not is meh to me. S/P burst is shweet, I have been running 25/30/0/0/15 and the damage is incredible but if the wind blows in my direction I am toast. Anyone know of a viable S/P build? or is it just a l2p type of issue here
Your idea to make more damage pull less agro just further pushes the DPS meta. The more damage you do, the less likely you are to get hit, meaning that you can get less defensive stats and do more damage. Also, whoever does the least damage, will end up having to take the damage. This is likely to be the worst player in the group, which isn’t really a great mechanic when everyone will be as DPS specced as possible to try to gain as little agro as possible.
^ this. It would lead to every group having 4 glass and 1 super tanky guard that deals no damage but just eats boss attacks/evades them so the rest of the group can burn it down. I agree that something needs to be done but I don’t think it is this!
Didn’t really know where to take any good screen shots, so I just went to EotN. Here is my very fiery mesmer Liliana
Let me know what you guys think!
If they did that they would make the cool down longer for sure. I just use it as pressure to try and force evades so our theif can go stabbystabby. If you try to ‘burst’ with it you have to use QZ
Maybe I just expect less from rapid fire, but in my guilds small roaming groups 3-5 when I’m on my power ranger rapid fire is awesome. Often hits for 11-15k depending on crits and what not. Sure it can be avoided really well, but you can also use it every 8 seconds with a traited lb, hits pretty kitten hard for me I’m a fan of it really.
Beast cannon does in fact hit hard. Ill prolly try the BM bunker I suppose
Thank you sir! Oh yeah I know it haha. I like the active play style though, I generally roam with a zerk shatter build so I’m used to the all or nothing approach. I’ve been doing pretty okay with just spamming dodge/evades with SB sw/d pretty fun stuff so far
Hey guys, I am a mesmer main and decided to roll a ranger. Had a ton of fun messing with pets and stuff and leveling throughout pve. Speed clears are pretty fun on ranger as well but I’m getting tired of back lining the Zerg with a zerk longbow only to get nailed by a theif the first time I mess up. I’ve seen the RRR and the BTR rangers, also Xorus bam bunkers. Just curious what’s viable for roaming? A high skill cieling is fine by me, ranger is my 5th 80 so is like to think I can mange.
TL:DR —-viable roaming ranger build?
That’s about how my findings are, I am interested to see how the ‘top’ Mesmer players react to this signet, and curious as to what they have to say.
PvE- Hands down the go-to, I don’t think I will ever take it off my bar.
Large scale WvW- As stated I feel that its heavily inferior to Mirror
Roaming WvW- With PU variants this thing is just amazing for me. Keeping me topped off quite well, and if I ever need the active I try and escape or get out of LoS for as long as possible, once you pop this thing though its quite brutal, 35 seconds is a long long time.
sPvp- I haven’t had a chance to actually try it out yet, looking to play some matches tomorrow.
What’s everyone’s thoughts on the new healing signet?
Ahh but Entropy was maddde for mesmers. I’d love to see a hammer phantasm lol, though you are probably right we don’t need anything but a pistol and a dagger.
Hmmm looks to me like Dhampyr and Skcamow need to transfer on over to FA (: Pyro you recruited me to omfg forever ago.. And I swear everytime I have a question you are never on >.< Let’s roam soon!
Someone, maybe you Jade? Or Duncan.. mentioned it would be cool if we could get a 5 man mesmer team together.. annnd all look exactly the same. we wouldn’t have to go deck ourselves out in max gear or anything.. just some cheap stuff for the lolz. The invaders couldn’t tell what the hell was going on if there were 20 identical mesmers running around O.o
Guilty as charged of two manning mesmers through the ruins, just avoid the black and red mesmer with Volcanus, I’d hate to have to put a hurtin’ on ya :p. and the good ole Goonies [Goon] is guilty of a few 4-5 mes teams! People definitely get frustrated with those phantys
In PvE its generally just better to go full zerker, if you find your self dying then just switch out some of your gear for knights until you get to a comfortable balance.
Would the condition stacks from corruption be more helpful for just more sheer condi damage rather then the precision proc’ing bleeds?
Just tested about 20 times , out of combat.. the leaps are definitely a waste of time, assuming you have swiftness. just running straight is just as fast, if timed perfectly you get MAYBE 1 step ahead. Without swiftness it is definitely faster but that’s a given. IN combat it is also faster, and definitely useful for creating space between whoever/whatever is chasing you. But for general OOC movement, don’t waste your time with Monarchs Leap if you have swiftness, also if you mess up the 180 you are going to end up way behind.
See I was wondering the same thing, because unless I time monarchs leap perfectly, then whoever I’m running around with (any class) seems to get just slightly ahead of me, assuming we both have swiftness.
