Guild Wars 2

The map is pretty simple but I wish the world map would flash events in the region you were in, not just the mini map. That way players can go “Oh hey an event way over there, I should go and see if people are doing it!” Also the little note in top right corner doesn’t always tell you if something is happening if you’re on the other side of the map.

I really don’t understand why NPE was needed to begin with. The game was EASY to understand when it first launched. I had no problems learning. The UI explained everything. As much as ANET likes to deny it, the NPE was made cause the game launched in China last year. Their version of GW 2 was made almost identical to the NPE we got now.

It was hard to get my friend into this game cause they felt frustrated with the lack of abilities they had access to, not to mention content. Thankfully they were able to get to level 20 no problem but they have told me the whole NPE was extremely silly. Especially when they watched old GW 2 gameplay vids.

I’m all for this. Getting real sick of having the spam come up cause it’s never just one. It’s like four or more from different bots. I don’t really see a downside besides from them spamming map chat but really that happens with guild recruitment and I don’t mind the guild recruitment spam.

Sub only worked for World of Warcraft, Eve (That one with the space ships and money) Final Fantasy 14. Those are the most popular sub based MMOs right now. However you can tell that sub is a tired old system as even WoW is starting to go the way of Eve and Wildstar by making in game currency as a way to pay for monthly fees. Heck remember SWTOR? Not even a year and they dropped their sub but introduced pay walls. ESO managed to last a year before they dropped their sub for DLC stuff.

GW 2 at the moment as the best system (at least for ANet) in terms of making money. Their gem store. There are always a bunch of people who will buy something, demand something from the store, or just exchange gems for gold.

Charr are fun to play. Not so much with jumping puzzles though cause of the whole running on all fours throwing some people off. 1st person cam fixed this though. Their combat animations are very well done.

It would be silly if they didn’t give us at least one free one for the expansion. I mean we’re paying for the expansion when it comes out, a character slot might as well be included.

You know I logged in one day and the Phantom hood was in my inventory. Don’t remember when or how I got it. I just had it. So I used it for fun. Three years I’ve always missed the Halloween stuff and it always bothered me. Yet some how I got the hood. I don’t remember a friend gifting it to me either!

I don’t remember that one. Then again I quit SWTOR two months after launch. The one thing I did like is they had two dances. One fun and one ‘sexy’. Come to think of it, that game too had good emotes. I did like their hologram one and it was different depending on which class you played.

Yeah sometimes it brings you to the first waypoint in the zone. It’s really weird. Dunno if they did this on purpose so players wouldn’t be killed upon logging into a contested area.

This game has some nice emotes but it could use more. I mean after watching a vid on ESO’s emotes I was kinda impressed at the amount they had (They had 6 different sitting animations, geesh!). Even WoW has more animated emotes than GW.

However we all know that other pressing game mechanics should be looked at first. I’m just saying more emotes would be pretty fun to have. I do like the instruments we got, those are fun to see. What emote would you like to see in game?

I really want facepalm. It just fits with everything and is generally funny all around.

I remember I had an awesome name for my Charr when the game first launched but I deleted that Charr a few days after launch. I felt they weren’t my race and focused on my human thief. A year later after getting back into the game I read up more on Charr lore and totally got into it. Sadly I couldn’t use the original name. However I was able to make the name and add a surname. To me though it didn’t feel the same. I didn’t feel like the original. Oh well lesson learned.

Update. The game loaded but then it kept flashing the error that I was disconnected from the log in server. Guild Chat no longer works but I can see people running around in game fine. The heck is going on?!

You would think that the game would know you had a Mini Queen Jenna and give you an random Mini instead.

So the game lagged out and kicked me. Now I can’t get in to play. Just sits at the character screen. I hit play but nothing happens. The button greys out and nothing loads. This happening to anyone else right now? Did someone trip on the server cords again?

I don’t mind GW’s music. However I do love that they gave us the option to have our own music playing in game for cities, battles, night time etc.

It’s back up. Someone probably tripped on a power cable.

Yeah the game exploded it seems. Might be servers or it might be those darn kids again.

I took a waygate and my game crash. Now I’m just stuck at the character screen and it gives me that Unable to Log into Server error.

We need more emotes and different types. I do like the dance book, it adds variety. Would like more sitting options though. Kinda weird how my human, norn, and sylvari females have to do the whole seductive sitting pose all the time. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I never got to do SAB. I missed it cause I took a break from the game. However I did watch videos and looked at screenshots. It looked like a fun time. Last year I thought it would return for some folks and it didn’t. Then we had the OCCUPY SAB movement for a while. ANET gave us the lame answer of “Oh it doesn’t fit with the current LS”. So what? People will still play your LS. SAB is just something else to do. Like WvW or PvP.

Last I checked neither of those things had to do with the LS either. So ANET’s logic on denying folks SAB is not really a good one. If they want to finish HOT that’s absolutely fine. Talking to your players though is something that is not hard. However from my experience with these forums, ANET employees have a history of really dodging the question or giving unrelated answers. I’m sure everyone remembers the whole trait fiasco and how one Rep started talking about Guild Housing and ignoring the concerns of players.

The only time I hate PVE knockbacks is when the mobs chain them on you or knock you off the edge of something. Or when you get that one bandit saboteur you didn’t see who just keeps laying down the bombs.

I could have sworn Evon was more concerned with getting his money and trade goods out of LA during the attack than defending the city or protecting the citizens. As I recall, there were dolyaks laden with Black Lion trade goods making their way to the portal.

He also turns off the portals at one point and strands refugees behind. There is a lot of back and forth. Honestly I think no matter what Lions Arch would have been destroyed. It’s just the way Arena Net wanted it.

I just wish they would rebuild it already, it’s been a year.

Meh. It never really bothered me. Kinda don’t mind that it’s green.

Gem store or not I look forward to seeing them. The Makeshift Weapons aren’t bad either, might give some of those to my Norn!

So do we get a one handed katana? In the one promotional image of the Revenant he is clearly holding a one handed Katana, not Balinda’s Sword. Mind you this is promotional art and not anything in game. The in game screens just show the Revenant holding generic fantasy weapons.

They were nice enough to give us a two handed version (or rather a nodachi) with Balinda’s Greatsword. So will HoT finally give us one handed versions?

People seem to want Pistol or Torch for warrior. Rifle for Thieves seems to be a given considering they are the only Profession that lacks a 1200 range weapon (No their crappy spear gun doesn’t count).

Scepter wouldn’t work for Warriors because they wanted them to be a martial class, no magic, and they already have maces as their blunt one hander.

GW 2 tried something new with underwater combat but it’s clear that no matter what game or MMO, the majority of players DO NOT like underwater combat. Heck they even got rid of that one underwater Heart in the Asura starting area.

They try so hard. So hard.

A break is a good idea. You will be less frustrated and it’s better to be happy with a game than angry with it.

It will get fixed soon. It involves the gem store after all.

Guild Chat should be a high priority issue. New players will often think they got kicked from a guild or wonder why everyone is suddenly silent. Missing half a conversation in guild chat when switching zones is not good either.

I can understand them not wanting you to have them right off the bat but yeah. Would be nice if we got one guaranteed special dye.

I think it’s related to the current voice bug with characters. Right now your character will say something that another character says across AN ENTIRE zone. Even if you’re not of the same race. Heck my human said “For the Imperator” and last I checked they were not a female Charr.

Is it best to wait a few days? I know every patch brings its share of bugs but this one had a lot of annoying ones.

It seems this patch has brought a whole bunch of bugs. Makes me wonder if anything was actually tested. I’ve noticed the green text and it is very annoying. Haven’t been downed yet though. I’m sorta waiting for hotfixes but I’m not holding my breath.

Guild chat will still get wiped if you zone or switch tabs. Logging out to switch characters requires the fix mentioned above.

Yeah a lot of stuff broke today. I know patches aren’t all flawless but you’d think after all this time it would have gotten better. The fact that they don’t let players test things still bothers me as well.
